The cabinet is already calculated, the bottom panel is marked, and sometimes even drilled. At this point, the client looks at the mockup and realizes: the cabinet turned out too squat, there is little air under it, the robot vacuum does not pass through, and the turned leg almost disappears under the massive facade. A practical question arises: can the MN-221 with a height of 429 mm be replaced with the 536 mm version without redoing the cabinet and without moving the old holes?
The short answer is cautious. In the table of one model, the 429 and 536 mm variants have matching B, D, and E values: 109, 32, and 32 mm. This is a good reason to check the replacement within the line, but not proof of full interchangeability. Before changing the order, you need to open two drawings, compare the top geometry, the mounting axis, the type of installed fittings, and the thickness of the bottom panel. Only then can you decide whether the old holes will remain or the cabinet will need adjustment.
A buyer who is going to buy turned furniture leg MN-221chooses not an abstract "high leg" but one of seven size variants. The transition from 429 to 536 mm increases the design height of the support by 107 mm. If the body, tabletop, fasteners, and floor glides remain the same, the total height of the furniture will nominally increase by the same 107 mm. But at the same time, the proportions, the lateral load arm, the convenience of opening drawers, and stability requirements change.
This situation requires not a new choice from scratch, but a competent adjustment of an already started project. It is necessary to understand at what stage production was stopped: only pencil marking was done, holes were made, threaded inserts were installed, mounting plates were secured, or legs were already tried on. The further the process has progressed, the more precise the check should be.
The solution depends not on the desire to raise the furniture, but on the stage of readiness of the body
The phrase "the body is already drilled" combines several completely different states. In one case, there are only four pilot holes in the bottom panel. In another, metal threaded inserts are installed. In a third, round mounting plates are screwed on. An identical answer for these cases would be erroneous.
Only marking without drilling
This is the most convenient moment to change the order. The old points can be rechecked against the drawing of the 536 mm variant and, if necessary, moved before material damage occurs. The risk is reduced to not using the previous template automatically.
In the request, it is indicated that the MN-221 429 mm was initially considered, but drilling has not yet been performed. Then confirmation is requested for the mounting axis and the top platform of the 536 mm variant. If the geometry matches, the marking can be preserved. If not, it is changed without repairing the panel.
Our factory also produces:
Pilot holes have been made
A small hole does not always determine the final scheme, but its location already limits the choice. It is necessary to know the diameter, depth, distance to the edges, and the material of the body. Sometimes the old hole coincides with the new axis and is used further. Sometimes it has to be closed, the area reinforced, or the mounting completely relocated.
It cannot be claimed that a small hole "does not interfere with anything." In particleboard, MDF, plywood, and solid wood, the same defect affects the fit differently. The decision is made by the designer after studying the assembly.

Threaded inserts installed
If the FUR-001 kit is used, the housing may already contain a metal threaded insert M8 × 13. Then the key question is not "do the legs match in height," but "does the stud axis match between the two MN-221 versions and is the installed insert suitable for the new assembly."
Even the same M8 thread does not confirm correct positioning. The axis may align, but the insert may be too close to the edge of the embedded part, installed with a skew, or loosened after a trial assembly. Before reuse, check the condition of the thread and the material around it.
Mounting plates are already secured
With FUR-012, the housing receives a round mounting plate with a diameter of 37 mm and M8 thread. If the plate is level and its center corresponds to the axis of the new leg, keeping the assembly can be discussed. But you cannot transfer the conclusion from one housing to another without verification.
The plate distributes the connection differently than the insert. Its position, screws, panel thickness, and access to fasteners must match the design. Replacing FUR-012 with FUR-001 just because both systems use an M8 × 60 stud is not considered equivalent.
Seven heights of MN-221: what changes and what remains the same in the table
The MN-221 card contains seven rows. In all rows, B equals 109 mm, D — 32 mm, E — 32 mm. Parameter A changes.
| MN-221 version | A, mm | B, mm | D, mm | E, mm | What to use in the article |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| The lowest | 213 | 109 | 32 | 32 | Compare the overall model range |
| Second | 321 | 109 | 32 | 32 | Show intermediate step |
| Initially selected | 429 | 109 | 32 | 32 | Lock the old project |
| Newly considered | 536 | 109 | 32 | 32 | Check replacement feasibility |
| Next | 644 | 109 | 32 | 32 | Do not jump to it without a new calculation |
| High | 740 | 109 | 32 | 32 | Consider it as a different scale of furniture |
| Maximum in the lineup | 900 | 109 | 32 | 32 | Requires an independent structural project |
The table suggests that MN-221 is designed as a model with a unified form character across different heights. However, letter designations cannot be deciphered by guesswork. It is necessary download the current product drawings and compare the graphics of two specific versions.
Parameter B may refer to the maximum diameter or width, D and E to individual profile sections or mounting geometry. Until this is confirmed by a drawing, identical numbers remain just identical rows in the table. They do not give the right to promise the preservation of holes, threaded inserts, plates, or protrusions relative to the body.
The 107 mm difference: simple arithmetic and not-so-simple consequences
The height difference is calculated unambiguously:
536 − 429 = 107 mm.
If the bottom plane of the body and the top point of the leg are connected identically, and the foot does not change, the new total height of the furniture is determined by the formula:
H₂ = H₁ + 107 mm,
where H₁ is the design height of the cabinet with MN-221 429 mm, H₂ is the height with MN-221 536 mm.
This formula helps to understand the scale of the change, but does not replace the assembly drawing. The actual height may depend on the depth of the stud screwing, the thickness of the plate, the position of the foot, the technological gap, and the body design.
Example with a cabinet
Suppose the height of the body together with the top panel is 620 mm. With a conditional direct addition:
-
with a 429 mm support, the furniture will get a design height of 1049 mm;
-
with a 536 mm support — 1156 mm.
For a regular bedside cabinet, both figures may be excessive, and for a console item — acceptable only after checking the purpose. The example shows: the name "cabinet" does not determine the correct height. You need to know whether it will be a bedside item, a console under a mirror, a tall stand, a decorative cabinet, or furniture for a commercial interior.
Changing the facade proportion
When the support rises by 107 mm, the body visually lifts. The lower void increases, and the turned shape becomes more noticeable. At the same time, the heavy body may appear to be placed on overly long and thin legs. A full-size side template helps evaluate the composition before purchase.
Changing the functional height
Raising furniture means changing the position of the tabletop, handles, drawers, and equipment. The top surface of the console may become inconvenient, the bedside table may rise above the mattress, and the dresser may become harder for daily use. Therefore, the change is checked not only from below, but also from above.

The main conclusion from the table: replacement within the same model looks more promising than switching to a different article, because several parameters match. However, a structural check is still mandatory.
Why you cannot replace only two legs or one damaged unit
If the cabinet stands on four MN-221 429 mm legs, the switch to 536 mm must be done as a set, unless the project specifies otherwise. Mixing heights will create a tilt, redistribute the load, and disrupt the operation of doors and drawers.
Even one leg of the same nominal height from a different batch may differ in the natural wood tone before painting. With an opaque enamel, this is less noticeable, but it is still reasonable to order the set as a single line and a single batch so that preparation, sanding, and finishing are done simultaneously.
For a standard four-support scheme, a commercial request usually contains:
-
MN-221 536 mm — 4 pcs.;
-
top mounting — 4 sets of the selected type;
-
bottom support pads — 4 pcs.;
-
stock — only when reasonably necessary.
If the body is long, heavy, or has a central partition, the number of supports may differ. The article does not assign four legs universally to any furniture.
Drawing vs. table: which lines to compare
When transitioning from 429 to 536 mm, you need to open two files side by side and check not only the overall silhouette.
Top end of the leg
Compare the shape of the platform, the diameter or width of the upper part, the presence of a ledge, chamfer, recess, and contact plane. If the top looks visually identical, the transition becomes more likely, but the axis is still checked with dimension lines.
Stud axis
It is necessary to determine whether the threaded axis is positioned identically relative to the outer contour. For a central stud, the accuracy of the center is important. If the axis is offset, the old insert or plate will not provide the correct leg position.
Depth of the prepared hole in the leg
The card shows recommended hardware, but you should not drill the leg yourself based on the general stud description. The depth and diameter for a specific part are checked against the documentation.
Direction of turned profile
MN-221 is visually perceived as a sequence of rounded volumes. With a significant increase in height, the position of these volumes relative to the frame and the floor changes. On the facade, it is necessary to check whether the lower part of the body overlaps the upper decorative element.
Lower end
The foot cap FUR-027 has its own mounting screw. The lower platform of the leg must allow its installation in the center without splitting or the fastener exiting into the side surface. Coincidence of D or E does not replace the check of the lower end.
FUR-001: what exactly could have already been installed in the body
buy the FUR-001 mounting kit can be as a set of a metric stud/self-tapping screw M8 × 60 and a metal insert M8 × 13.
The kit card states:
-
the stud has a diameter of 8 mm and a length of 60 mm;
-
the screw and metric parts are each 30 mm;
-
for the stud, a pilot hole of 6.5 mm is specified;
-
The bushing has an internal M8 thread and a length of 13 mm;
-
For the bushing, a mounting hole with a diameter of 10 mm is specified;
-
The bushing is installed using an 8 mm hex key.
This data describes the kit itself, but is not a universal instruction for any housing material. The panel thickness, hole depth, distance to the edge, and the need for an insert are determined by the designer.
Can the old bushing be kept
It is possible if the following conditions are met simultaneously:
-
The axis of the new version matches;
-
The bushing thread is not damaged;
-
The bushing does not rotate;
-
The material around it is not destroyed;
-
Seating depth is suitable;
-
The body is designed for the new geometry;
-
The leg tightens without misalignment;
-
Reassembly does not loosen the joint.
One negative point is enough to prevent the old bushing from being considered a ready-made solution. Sometimes it is wiser to replace the entire mounting kit than to save one metal part and risk the body.
When the old bushing hole becomes a problem
If the new axle needs to be shifted by a few millimeters, there is already a 10 mm diameter hole nearby. The second hole may intersect the first or leave a weak bridge between them. Simple putty does not restore the load-bearing capacity of the panel. A structural repair scheme or a new embedded part is needed.
FUR-012: mounting plate changes the inspection logic
Buy a kit with mounting plate FUR-012 available as a set of a round plate with a diameter of 37 mm with M8 thread and an M8 × 60 stud.
Unlike a futorka, the plate rests on the surface and is attached to the body at separate points. When installation is already completed, check:
-
position of the thread center;
-
diameter of the free area;
-
location of mounting screws;
-
panel thickness;
-
condition of the holes;
-
absence of plate deformation;
-
possibility to tighten the leg to the correct orientation;
-
plate protrusion relative to the body.
Can the old plate be left
It can be discussed if the drawing of the new version confirms the previous axis, and the plate and body are not damaged. In this case, the leg itself must fully rest on the provided area, and the decorative profile must not collide with the plate.
Why you cannot switch from a plate to a futorka without a new project
The two systems create a connection differently. The plate distributes the fastening over the surface, while the insert works inside the material or embedded part. Replacing changes the holes, the height of the assembly, access to installation, and the behavior of the housing. The M8 thread on both sets is only one common parameter.
Separate stud FUR-001-1: when one part is not enough
Buy M8 × 60 stud FUR-001-1 can be purchased separately. The card indicates the size 60 × 8 × 30 mm.
A separate stud is needed if the housing already has a confirmed threaded part or another compatible system. But the presence of an old insert does not mean that buying four studs is enough. You need to check:
-
thread pitch and condition;
-
length of the metric section;
-
depth of entry into the leg;
-
depth of entry into the mating part;
-
possibility of tightening;
-
leg position after tightening;
-
absence of play.
If the previous set was disassembled, the stud is inspected for thread damage and bending. Deformed fasteners cannot be reused.
Bottom panel of the housing: the main participant that is forgotten
The buyer focuses on the leg height, although failure more often occurs in the housing. The bottom panel must transfer the load from the furniture to four or more supports. The higher the legs, the more noticeable the influence of lateral forces when opening drawers, moving, and accidental pushing.
Panel material
Chipboard, MDF, plywood, furniture board, and solid wood differ in their ability to hold the insert and screws. The hole pattern cannot be transferred from plywood to thin fiberboard without calculation.
Thickness
For FUR-001, the insert length and the working zone of the material are critical. For FUR-012, the length of the plate screws and the absence of exit to the front side are important. The article does not specify a universal minimum thickness because it depends on the material, load, and insert.
Embedded insert
If the housing is thin, a reinforced pad made of solid wood or plywood may be provided inside. When changing the height, its dimensions and position are checked. The old insert may be sufficient for vertical load, but the new geometry will require a different assessment of lateral stability.
Distance to edge
A high leg at the very corner creates a noticeable shoulder. Fasteners cannot be placed so that the hole weakens the edge. Shifting the leg inward affects appearance and stability. Therefore, the point is chosen simultaneously by facade and construction.
How increasing height affects the stability of a cabinet
Taller furniture does not become unstable automatically. But the previous calculation cannot be left unchecked. The result is affected by:
-
width and depth of the body;
-
distance between support points;
-
mass of the body;
-
location of heavy items;
-
drawer extension;
-
presence of doors;
-
floor material;
-
joint rigidity;
-
wall fixation;
-
central support;
-
leg geometry.
The center of gravity rises together with the body
If the entire body is raised by 107 mm, its mass ends up higher relative to the floor. With lateral force, the moment increases. This does not mean that the MN-221 536 mm is unsuitable, but the furniture project must account for the new body level.
An extended drawer changes the position of the mass
A tall cabinet with a heavy top drawer may tilt forward more than a low one. Check the full extension of all drawers individually and in permissible combinations, as well as the need for wall anchoring.
The depth of the body should not be lost behind the beauty of the supports
A narrow and tall console requires especially careful assessment. Increasing the height may improve the proportion, but at the same time make the body more sensitive to impact. The decision is made by the designer, not by an interior photo.
When a central or additional support is needed
Four corner legs are not always sufficient for a long body. The bottom panel may sag, the central partition may lack support, and drawers may create uneven load.
An additional point is considered if:
-
the cabinet has a large length;
-
there is heavy filling inside;
-
a partition is located in the center;
-
the bottom panel is thin;
-
the project already provided for a fifth support;
-
a deflection appears during trial assembly;
-
the cabinet manufacturer requires reinforcement.
The central leg must have the same height, taking into account the foot and mounting. You cannot leave the old central support at 429 mm when switching corner legs to 536 mm.
Foot FUR-027: a small part that changes the final mark
buy felt glide FUR-027 It can be as a separate item. The card indicates the size 25 × 25 × 5 mm, a felt contact part with a diameter of 24 mm, and a universal screw 3.5 × 20.
The furniture glider performs several tasks:
-
separates the wood from the floor;
-
reduces the risk of scratches;
-
softens movement;
-
protects the bottom end;
-
adds its own thickness to the total height;
-
requires a separate hole and checking of the end.
Its quantity is calculated by the number of supports. For four legs, four foot pads are needed, if FUR-027 is indeed confirmed by the project. With a fifth central support, a fifth one will be required.
Felt is not an adjustment mechanism. It does not correct the difference in leg heights or severe floor unevenness. If adjustment is required, a different system is chosen after checking compatibility.
Beech or oak MN-221 when changing the order
The MN-221 card offers beech and oak. When adjusting the height, it is better not to change the wood species at the same time unless there is a separate reason for it. Otherwise, the buyer gets two variables at once: new geometry and new material.
Beech for enamel
Beech has a calmer, non-porous structure and is often used under opaque painting. If the cabinet is already painted, the set of legs is ordered with appropriate preparation, then a test paint application is performed.
Oak for tinting
Oak is chosen when a pronounced texture needs to be preserved. However, the selected configuration of the MN-221 card shows the quality of lamination "under enamel." For a translucent coating, it is necessary to separately confirm the possibility of execution "under tinting" and its availability for the required batch.
Why the entire set is ordered in one wood species
Four supports are visible at the same time. Even under the same tint, beech and oak differ in pattern and absorption. A mixed set looks random and complicates finishing.
It is useful in advance to choose beech for enamel or oak for tinting based on the actual finish, not on the household idea of "light" and "dark" wood.
"Prestige" does not mean a ready color
MN-221 is specified with "Prestige" sanding quality. This includes milling, machine, and detailed manual sanding, which reduces fuzz and roughness in complex areas. The surface is prepared for the application of paint and varnish materials, but the final finish does not automatically become a product characteristic.
Before painting, the following is still agreed upon:
-
dust removal;
-
primer;
-
interlayer matting;
-
finish enamel or varnish;
-
number of layers;
-
gloss level;
-
test coating;
-
treatment of the lower and upper ends.
If the original MN-221 429 mm units are already painted, and now a 536 mm set is ordered, the old color cannot be copied from a photo. A system code, sample, or repainting of the entire set is needed.
A full-size template shows what is not visible in the table
Before replacement, it is useful to make a simple template 536 mm high. It can be cut from cardboard, thin foam board, or thick paper. The template does not simulate load-bearing capacity and does not confirm fastening, but it quickly shows proportions.
The old and new contours are applied to the side projection of the housing. On the wall or workbench, mark:
-
the lower plane of the housing;
-
floor level;
-
height 429 mm;
-
height 536 mm;
-
location of the top point of the furniture;
-
the line of the bottom drawer;
-
the position of the handles;
-
the nearest bed, mirror, outlet, or baseboard.
This makes it obvious that 107 mm is not an abstract addition. It is a noticeable change to the entire composition. On a small nightstand, the new support can take up almost as much visual space as the cabinet body. On a tall console, on the contrary, it can make the proportions lighter.
The template should be viewed from the usual observation point
If the furniture stands against a wall, it is rarely viewed strictly from the side at floor level. The mockup is evaluated standing, sitting, from the room entrance, and next to other furniture. A tall turned leg may look elegant in a frontal sketch but overly elongated in a real passage.
Four templates are more useful than one
One cardboard outline shows the height but does not give a sense of the space between the legs. Four vertical strips fixed at the design points allow you to assess:
-
the width of the gap;
-
the visibility of the rear supports;
-
bottom panel position;
-
rhythm of turned elements;
-
distance to the plinth;
-
possibility of cleaning;
-
visual stability.
After such a layout, the decision to change the order becomes conscious, not emotional.
How to check old markings without re-drilling
If the holes have not been made yet, the new drilling template is applied over the old markings. The match is checked not by the outer edge of the leg, but by the centers of the mounting axes.
For each support, a coordinate record is compiled:
-
distance from the front edge of the body to the center;
-
distance from the side edge to the center;
-
diameter of the existing hole;
-
depth;
-
type of mating part;
-
distance to the nearest screw, dowel, or confirmat;
-
position of the insert.
The points denote, for example, FL — front left, FR — front right, RL — rear left, RR — rear right. This approach eliminates the situation where a craftsman measures only one corner and transfers it to the others, even though the cabinet has partitions or different technological offsets.
Why you cannot check centers with a tape measure from different edges
If the front point is measured from the facade and the rear point from the unfinished end, the measurement base differs. All coordinates must originate from a single system: the finished external plane of the cabinet or an approved technological base.
Diagonals between centers
After marking the four axes, measure the diagonals of the rectangle. Equality of diagonals helps identify misalignment in the marking. However, it does not prove that the points are structurally correct: the rectangle can be even while being too close to the edges.
What to do if the new and old axes do not match
The mismatch does not mean the project cannot be saved. It means that the purchase of MN-221 536 mm cannot be confirmed until the method of rework is selected.
Moving the point on a clean panel
If the old hole is small and the new one is located at a safe distance, the designer can develop a relocation. The material, distance between holes, and restoration method are determined individually.
New embedded plate
For a thin panel, it is sometimes more rational to add internal reinforcement that overlaps the old area and creates a new platform. The embedded plate must be structurally connected to the housing, not just glued over a weak surface.
Replacing the bottom panel
If the holes are large, the material is damaged, or the new layout requires a different arrangement, a full replacement of the bottom part may be more reliable than local repair. This is more expensive but preserves the predictability of the structure.
Keeping the old size
Sometimes it is technically and economically reasonable to keep MN-221 429 mm. The buyer gets a lower height but avoids weak fastening and rework of the finished housing. The commercial decision must account for the cost of the entire project, not just the price difference between the two legs.
Opening drawers after raising the housing
Changing the legs does not directly affect the guides, but it changes the user's position and the dynamics of the furniture.
The upper drawers become higher
The handle rises by 107 mm. For a tall console this may be convenient, for children's furniture it is not. Check access to each drawer and visibility of its contents.
A heavy drawer extends further from the support area
When fully opened, the mass shifts forward. The higher the body, the more carefully tipping and wall anchoring are assessed. The risk cannot be compensated only by tightening the legs more.
The front must not hit the turned profile
If the legs are placed close to the front edge, the lower front or drop-down door may cross the upper part of the support. Compare the opening trajectory and the actual profile MN-221 536 mm.
Baseboard and wall
After lifting, the body may move closer to the wall, but the rear legs must clear the baseboard. If the turned profile widens at a certain height, it may hit the baseboard before the top panel. A side template resolves this issue before purchase.
Wall anchoring: a separate line in the project
A tall cabinet, dresser, or narrow console often needs to be anchored to the wall regardless of the chosen leg. Switching to 536 mm is a reason to re-check this solution.
The project records:
-
wall material;
-
mounting point in the housing;
-
type of bracket or angle;
-
distance to electrical wiring;
-
possibility to remove furniture for maintenance;
-
allowable wood movement;
-
visibility of fasteners;
-
installation sequence relative to legs.
Wall mounting cannot be used as an excuse for a weak bottom panel. Top fixation reduces the risk of tipping, but bottom joints must still transfer load without play or misalignment.
Finishing a new set: how to avoid getting four different shades
MN-221 has a complex turned surface. At transitions between rounded volumes, the primer and enamel may lay differently than on a flat panel. Therefore, all four legs are processed simultaneously.
Marking before painting
Supports are marked on the invisible end: FL, FR, RL, RR. This helps preserve the selected texture distribution of the oak and the order after trial assembly.
Test paintout
A test is done on wood of the same species and with the same preparation. A small flat sample does not fully convey the play of light on the turned shape, but shows color, coverage, and gloss.
Top end
The connection point with the body should not receive a coating layer that interferes with fitting or gluing. The solution depends on the mounting system. Do not paint over threads, holes, or working surfaces without a technical data sheet.
Preparation of the bottom platform for the support foot
Before installing FUR-027, check the layout and hole. If the support foot is mounted after painting, the craftsman must protect the finish from chips around the screw.
Order MN-221 from stock or for a project
The card shows current prices and stock statuses for each size, material, and city. These data change, so they are not fixed as permanent in the article.
Before payment, you need to check price and availability of MN-221 specifically for the 536 mm line and the selected wood species. Having four beech legs does not mean having four oak ones. A remaining stock of one or two pieces does not cover the set for the cabinet.
Why you cannot assemble a set of four from different batches without approval
If two legs are taken from stock and two are produced later, batches may differ in the tone of natural wood. Under enamel this is usually easier to hide, but preparation and geometry are still checked as a single set.
Reservation
After technical confirmation, it is reasonable to immediately place the entire set: legs, top mounting, and floor glides. While the buyer separately approves each item, the warehouse stock can change.
Acceptance of four MN-221 before finishing
The delivery is considered ready for work only after inspection.
Check:
-
article number on each item;
-
height A = 536 mm;
-
quantity;
-
material;
-
"Prestige" sanding;
-
gluing quality;
-
top ends;
-
bottom platforms;
-
absence of chips and cracks;
-
straightness of axes;
-
condition of packaging;
-
completeness of fittings.
Comparison of four legs side by side
The supports are placed on a flat control surface without final load and the height, silhouette, and position of decorative elements are compared. If one differs noticeably, this is recorded before painting.
Natural wood does not have to be identical like plastic
The tone and grain of beech or oak may vary. For a transparent finish, the distribution of legs across the facade is chosen before tinting. The ones most similar in appearance are placed in the most visible front pair.
Damaged packaging
If visible damage to the cargo is present, take photos of the general view, markings, and the defect. Do not sand or paint the product first and then claim transport damage.
What to buy together: full list for project adjustment
One line "MN-221 536 mm — 4 pcs." does not cover the task.

If the buyer is not yet sure about the mounting type, first you should Buy hardware for furniture legs only after a constructive choice. The basket should not replace the project: the presence of two recommended sets means the possibility of choice, not the obligation to buy both.
Step-by-step order adjustment without stopping the entire project
Step 1. Fix the old solution
Save the body drawing with MN-221 429 mm, the old specification, hole coordinates, and selected hardware. Without the original version, it is impossible to understand what exactly
Error 8. Not opening the drawers during the test assembly
Stability is checked not only with closed facades.
Error 9. Ordering two legs now and two later
Different batches will complicate matching the tone and finishing timelines.
Error 10. Painting before the technical fitting
If hole or edge refinement is needed, the coating will be damaged.
Error 11. Using the foot as adjustment
Felt protects the floor but does not level out serious height differences.
Error 12. Not removing the old line from the specification
Production or supply may order both 429 and 536 mm at the same time.
For which projects MN-221 536 mm may be appropriate
The 536 mm height is noticeably larger than the usual low supports for small cabinets. Therefore, this version shines where the leg itself should become a significant part of the piece.
High console
The turned support creates an open base, and the body can be relatively compact. Stability and wall fixation are checked.
Decorative cabinet
For a narrow cabinet, 536 mm can form an expressive lower tier. Heavy contents and doors require structural calculation.
Vanity table
The height of the legs must be coordinated with the seating, the chair, and the thickness of the tabletop. Replacement based solely on appearance is not acceptable.
Furniture for commercial interiors
In a display window, showroom, or reception area, a tall turned profile is visible from afar. Operational loads and attachment to the floor or wall are specified by the project design.
Designer piece
MN-221 in different heights allows maintaining a single artistic motif. But the article is not about the distribution of the entire line, but about a specific adjustment from 429 to 536 mm after marking.
Who should not change 429 mm to 536 mm
The transition is not suitable for a buyer who wants to solve only an aesthetic problem but is not ready to re-check the cabinet. If the bottom panel is already weakened by holes and the documentation is lost, a tall support may increase the risk of play. First, restore the structural information, then make a decision about the product.
It is not worth changing the size when the final tabletop rises above a comfortable level, doors collide with the legs, and wall fixation cannot be performed. The replacement is also not suitable for a project where three legs are already painted and installed, and the fourth is offered to be purchased at a different height. The set must work as a single system.
The scenario in which a customer asks to "drill according to the old holes" without providing two drawings will also be questionable. If there is no confirmation of compatibility, it is wiser to stop drilling. An undrilled panel preserves options; a damaged one requires repair.
What to check after a trial assembly
The furniture is installed on a flat, rigid surface. The glides must be either installed on all supports or absent on all during comparison. You cannot check one leg with felt and another without it.
Inspection includes:
-
identical contact of all supports with the plane;
-
absence of rocking under light diagonal force;
-
verticality of legs;
-
identical indents from the facade and side panels;
-
free opening of all drawers and doors;
-
absence of contact of the turned profile with the baseboard;
-
preservation of facade gaps;
-
absence of sagging of the bottom panel;
-
operation of the central support;
-
stability with the drawer extended;
-
coincidence of the actual height with the project.
If furniture wobbles, you cannot immediately trim one leg. First, check the levelness of the floor, the uniformity of fastening, tightening, the geometry of the body, and the glides. Trimming the finished MN-221 changes the size and may damage the finish.
How to arrange a purchase without cannibalizing broad queries
For the general choice, the buyer can Buy wooden furniture legs in the parent category. There, different shapes, heights, and purposes are compared. A specific article should lead to the MN-221 card only when this turned pattern has already been selected and the decision is being made between two heights.
If individual painting is important, it is logical Buy unpainted furniture legs and to coordinate preparation for the finish. The broad section does not answer whether the old holes will be preserved, but it helps compare an alternative when the MN-221 536 mm does not fit the design.
For a cabinet, wardrobe, or dresser, a specialized section by application is used. It helps compare the proportions of different models, but does not replace the calculation of load and mounting assembly. Thus, internal linking supports the buyer's journey: general choice — specific model — hardware — delivery.
Drawing version control: how not to assemble the body at the old height
After deciding to switch to the MN-221 536 mm, the danger is created not only by drilling. Several files may exist simultaneously in the workshop: the initial sketch with a 429 mm support, the corrected visualization, the cutting map without legs, and a separate hardware list. If at least one document remains unchanged, production receives conflicting instructions.
The new version must have its own number, date, and a brief description of the change. For example: "Revision 03 — replacement of MN-221 A = 429 mm with A = 536 mm, increase in total height by 107 mm, mounting axes require confirmation." Such a record immediately shows that not only the appearance has changed.
Which documents are updated simultaneously
The adjustment must be included in:
-
general view of the furniture;
-
side section;
-
drilling map of the bottom panel;
-
specification of legs;
-
fastener list;
-
calculation of total height;
-
diagram of the central support;
-
finishing map;
-
packer's assignment;
-
supplier order.
If the visualization already shows high legs, but the specification still has A = 429 mm, a nice image won't protect against an erroneous purchase. Production works according to the dimension sheet and approved drawings.
How to close the old version
The old file is not deleted without a trace: it is needed for the change history. It is moved to the archive and marked with a prominent note "Do not use in production". Printed sheets at the site are replaced, and the foreman confirms receipt of the new revision.
It is especially important to update the drilling template. If the template is physically made, it is marked with the height and date. The old tooling is removed from the work area so it doesn't end up with the next cabinet.
Trial assembly of the first cabinet before launching the entire batch
When MN-221 is used not for a single item but for a series, you cannot transfer an unverified change directly to ten or fifty cabinets. First, one trial sample is assembled.
The trial cabinet must be made from the same materials and with the same thickness of the bottom panel as the production items. A mock-up made of different plywood or temporary timber can only confirm the appearance, but not the operation of the fastening.
What the prototype checks
On the first assembly, the following are evaluated:
-
alignment of axes;
-
depth of stud seating;
-
operation of the insert nut or plate;
-
tightening without rotation;
-
verticality of all supports;
-
actual height;
-
body diagonals;
-
opening of facades;
-
deflection of the bottom panel;
-
contact of the central support;
-
position of thrust bearings;
-
stability under working load as per design;
-
possibility of packaging and transportation.
Results are recorded, not communicated verbally. If a washer, a different screw, a new hole, or an additional embedded part was needed, the change is included in the documentation before serial production launch.
Why you cannot fix each cabinet "on site"
Manual adjustment on each cabinet creates different axes and different mounting depths. Externally, the products may look the same, but they will be harder to service and repair. A serial order requires a repeatable assembly.
After a successful trial assembly, the drilling template and hardware list receive approved status. Only then is the full order for MN-221 536 mm and components placed.
Serial order: how to calculate legs, fasteners, and reserve
For one cabinet, the quantity is immediately visible. For a batch, a calculation is needed.
If each cabinet has four supports, the basic formula looks like this:
Q = M × 4,
where Q is the number of legs, M is the number of cabinets.
For 12 cabinets, 48 MN-221 will be required. If the structure has a fifth central support:
Q = M × 5,
that is, for 12 cabinets — 60 legs.
Hardware is counted per point, not per number of cabinets. Four cabinets do not mean four sets of FUR-001; with four legs per cabinet, sixteen sets are needed.
The reserve should not be a random percentage
The stock is determined by the production task. It may be needed for:
-
a control sample;
-
a test assembly;
-
damage during serial processing;
-
subsequent warranty repair;
-
preservation of the finish standard;
-
project with remote supply.
You cannot automatically add ten percent without understanding how the extra legs will be used. For a small batch, one additional support may be more useful than a formal percentage, and for a large series, the reserve is set by a production standard.
Batch of wood and finish
All MN-221 for one series should ideally be ordered at the same time. Beech legs for enamel are treated with one primer and finish. Oak legs for a translucent system are distributed by tone and texture before painting.
In the specification, the number of right and left positions is indicated separately only when the drawing actually distinguishes orientation. You cannot invent directionality for a symmetrical part.
What to check after changing the body, not just the legs
Sometimes, after deciding to raise the furniture, the designer changes the bottom panel, adds inserts, or moves a partition. After such a correction, the previous MN-221 confirmation needs to be checked again.
The new bottom panel may have a different thickness. Reinforcement may shift the available axis. The central partition can take the place of the plate. Even a successful comparison of 429 mm and 536 mm legs does not automatically apply after changing the body itself.
Before final procurement, a control checklist is issued:
-
The material of the bottom part is unchanged or the change is accounted for;
-
The thickness is confirmed;
-
The inserts are marked on the drawing;
-
The fasteners do not intersect with the confirmats;
-
The fronts open;
-
The plinth does not interfere with the rear legs;
-
The central support has the same final elevation;
-
The wall mounting is accessible;
-
The packaging is calculated for the new overall height.
Such repeated control protects against a paradoxical error: the legs are chosen correctly, but the body has already become different after their check.
FAQ: answers before replacing MN-221 429 mm with 536 mm
Can MN-221 429 mm be replaced with 536 mm without re-drilling the housing?
It is possible, but it cannot be promised in advance. The two versions have matching B, D, and E, but you need to overlay the drawings and check the position of the mounting axis. If a bushing or plate is already installed in the housing, additionally assess its condition, center, and the material around the hole. Only after that can the old marking be considered suitable.
How much higher will the cabinet become?
The nominal difference between the supports is 107 mm. With unchanged housing, mounting, and foot, the top of the furniture will rise by approximately the same 107 mm. The actual mark is calculated from the assembly drawing, because the plate, seating depth, and lower element may add their own thickness.
Why do identical B, D, and E not guarantee compatibility?
The table does not show which sections the letters refer to, where the stud axis runs, or how the upper end is designed. The same number may describe the outer diameter, turning section, or another parameter. Compatibility is confirmed by graphically overlaying two drawings and checking the mounting assembly.
Do I need to buy all four legs anew?
If the cabinet stands on four identical MN-221 429 mm legs and needs to be higher, the entire set is usually replaced. Mixing 429 and 536 mm is not allowed. The quantity may differ if the project has five supports, a central support, or another scheme. The list is compiled based on actual support points.
Can I buy one MN-221 536 mm for a trial fit?
One leg can be considered as a sample of shape and height, if this is agreed upon. It is not safe to operate the body with three supports of 429 mm on it. After project confirmation, a full set is ordered in one batch.
Is the old threaded insert FUR-001 retained?
Only if the axes align, the thread is intact, the material around the hole is strong, and the depth is suitable. The threaded insert must not rotate or be installed crookedly. If the new point needs to be shifted, the old hole can weaken the area, and a repair project will be required.
Can the mounting plate FUR-012 be left in place?
It can be discussed if the plate center aligns with the axis of the 536 mm execution, the plate is not deformed, the mounting holes are intact, and the leg properly rests on the platform. The plate diameter of 37 mm must be considered in the geometry of the bottom panel.
What is better for MN-221: FUR-001 or FUR-012?
There is no universally better option. FUR-001 uses a threaded insert inside the base, FUR-012 uses a round mounting plate. The choice depends on the material and thickness of the panel, the embedded part, access to fasteners, old holes, and maintenance requirements. The decision is made by the furniture designer.
Can I buy only the studs FUR-001-1?
Yes, a separate stud is sold independently, but it can only be used if there is a confirmed mating thread. The condition of the threaded insert or plate, the depth of entry, and the ability to tighten the leg without play must be checked. A separate stud does not replace a missing mating part.
How to check the thickness of the bottom panel?
Thickness is measured at the open end, according to the body documentation, or in a safe technological location. It is not allowed to drill a control hole in a finished part. In addition to the overall thickness, you need to know the panel material and the presence of an internal insert.
What to do if the new hole is located near the old one?
Do not drill a second hole before calculation. A weak bridge may remain between the two holes. Possible solutions are a new insert, moving the entire layout, replacing the bottom panel, or keeping the old size. Putty does not automatically restore load-bearing capacity.
Is a central leg necessary?
It may be needed for a long body, furniture with a central partition, or heavy contents. The solution depends on the design. If a central support already existed, when switching to 536 mm, its height must match the new overall plane.
Will the furniture become less stable?
Not necessarily, but stability needs to be recalculated. The body is raised by 107 mm, so the mass position and response to lateral force change. Check the depth, width of the support contour, drawers, wall fixation, and fastener rigidity.
Is it necessary to secure the cabinet to the wall?
This is determined by the type of furniture, height, depth, mass, and drawer operation. A narrow tall console more often requires fixation than a deep low body. Wall mounting does not compensate for weak legs or a damaged bottom panel.
Will the MN-221 536 mm fit for a bedside table?
Only after checking the overall height. The 536 mm support itself is very noticeable, so a regular cabinet may end up higher than the mattress. Compare the top mark, handle position, and body proportion with a full-size template.
Can MN-221 536 mm be used for a console?
Yes, such a scenario is possible if the final height, support contour, and wall fixation match the project. For a narrow console, especially check lateral stability and pull-out elements.
Beech or oak to choose for the new four?
The choice depends on the finish. Beech is convenient under dense enamel, oak — for a project with pronounced texture. If the initial body and decor are already made, the wood species is linked to the overall finish. All four legs are ordered from one material.
What does "Prestige" mean for MN-221?
This is the quality of surface treatment: milling, machine and detailed hand sanding. It reduces the amount of fuzz and roughness, but does not mean a finished paint job. Primer, enamel, tinting, or varnish are applied separately.
Can I order oak with a transparent finish?
In the product card, the selected configuration shows preparation "under enamel". For semi-transparent tinting, you need to separately confirm the quality of re-gluing "under tinting" and its availability for the required size and quantity. A transparent option cannot be considered automatically available.
Do the legs need to be painted before installation?
First, a technical fitting is carried out and all holes are prepared. Then the agreed finish is performed. Fully painting the legs before checking the fit is risky: adjustment can damage the coating.
How many FUR-027 glides to order?
One for each support, if FUR-027 fits the project. For four legs — four, for five — five. The glide screw and the bottom end of MN-221 need to be checked before installation.
Will the robot vacuum fit after replacement?
You need to measure not the height A, but the actual clearance from the floor to the bottom edge of the body. It is affected by the top mounting, leg shape, foot pad, and possible crossbar. Compare the required clearance of the specific device with the control assembly.
Can I keep the old holes if the drawings look the same?
Visual similarity is not enough. Compare dimension lines, axis coordinates, and actual body markings. Then check the material around the holes and the condition of the hardware.
What to do with the old MN-221 429 mm set?
It can be used in another furniture project, sold, or kept if the legs are not damaged and have not undergone irreversible modification. New use requires a separate check of the mounting and purpose.
Where to check the current price and availability of 536 mm?
In the MN-221 card after selecting size, wood type, and quality. Warehouse stock changes, so price and quantity are checked right before payment. For a cabinet, the availability of the entire set matters, not just one item.
How to arrange delivery of four legs and hardware?
The invoice combines MN-221 536 mm, selected fasteners, and foot pads. Before shipping, the number of cargo units and packaging are checked. Shipping and payment terms are in the STAVROS delivery section.
Can the size of MN-221 be changed individually?
The possibility of non-standard manufacturing depends on the batch size and technical specifications. For a single cabinet, it is more rational to first evaluate the seven standard versions. An individual size cannot be promised without coordination with production.
What is the main document needed by the installer?
The current assembly diagram with coordinates of all supports, type of fastening, material, and thickness of the bottom panel. Alongside, the MN-221 536 mm drawing and the hardware list are attached. A verbal instruction "place it higher" is not sufficient.
Final verification before handing over the cabinet to the installer
After receiving a new set, it is useful to conduct a final verification of documents and actual parts. On the work table, the MN-221 536 mm drawing, the housing hole map, the selected hardware list, and the markings of the four legs should all be present simultaneously. The installer checks that each item belongs to one project revision, and the old height of 429 mm is nowhere left as current.
Separately, the number of legs, bushings or plates, studs, and floor glides is compared. If at least one item is missing, final assembly is not started. Temporary installation of three supports and a random shim distorts the cabinet geometry and does not show real stability.
Before tightening the fasteners, inspect the threads, top platforms, ends, and coating. The legs are placed in their designated positions according to the markings, then verticality and equal offsets are checked. Such a short procedure separates a confirmed project from assembly "by memory" and helps detect an error before the fasteners damage the cabinet or the finished finish.
First confirm the mounting assembly, then change MN-221 in the STAVROS order
Switching from MN-221 429 mm to 536 mm within the same model seems logical: the height increases by 107 mm, and B, D, and E in the table remain equal to 109, 32, and 32 mm. But these coincidences provide a direction for checking, not a ready guarantee of old holes.
Before payment, you need to compare two drawings, check the pin axis, the top platform, the material and thickness of the body, the installed bushing or mounting plate. Then recalculate the total height, the position of handles and drawers, stability, the central support, and the wall mounting. Only after this does the old marking receive the status of confirmed or is sent for adjustment.
At STAVROS, you can order MN-221 with a height of 536 mm in beech or oak, select FUR-001, FUR-012, individual pins, felt glides, and arrange delivery in one batch. A competent order does not consist of the phrase "replace the legs with higher ones," but of a full specification: four identical supports, the selected mounting unit, confirmed axes, finish, and test assembly. This procedure helps raise the furniture by the required 107 mm without turning the already drilled body into an experimental blank.
