A stair post about 100 mm wide seems like a simple base for a decorative rosette: measure the face, choose a beautiful pattern, and order the appropriate size. R-020 has four versions — 60×38×8, 77×49×10, 93×59×12, and 110×70×14 mm, so the temptation to reduce the choice to a single number is especially strong. But for a rectangular carved rosette, it is important not only whether it is "less than 100 mm," but which specific size, A or B, will be placed across the post.
If B runs across a flat face 100 mm wide, then all four versions of R-020 fit geometrically: for the largest option, B=70 mm, and with precise centering, 15 mm remains on each side. If the same 110×70 rosette is rotated 90° and A=110 mm is placed across the post, it already extends beyond the 100 mm field by 10 mm.
But even this calculation does not yet mean ready compatibility. The nominal width of the post and the actual flat area for the decor may differ due to chamfers, roundings, relief, or profile transitions. Therefore, before buy wooden rosette R-020, it is necessary to measure the actually usable installation field, determine the orientation, and check a full-size template.
Wooden rosette R-020: four sizes that can actually be ordered
R-020 is a rectangular carved rosette with an acanthus leaf ornament. The card allows the use of this decor on stair posts, pilasters, casings, and other interior elements. For our task, only one application area is considered — the front face of a stair post.
Current size grid:
| Size A×B×C, mm | Beech Standard | Beech Prestige | Oak Standard | Oak Prestige |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 60×38×8 | 330 ₽ | 460 ₽ | 360 ₽ | 500 ₽ |
| 77×49×10 | 360 ₽ | 600 ₽ | 480 ₽ | 670 ₽ |
| 93×59×12 | 460 ₽ | 690 ₽ | 660 ₽ | 890 ₽ |
| 110×70×14 | 890 ₽ | 1 290 ₽ | 1 190 ₽ | 1 570 ₽ |
In the table, A, B, and C are manufacturer designations. For project verification, it is important to preserve the full size A×B×C, rather than turning it into arbitrary "width, height, and thickness" without understanding the orientation.
For our scheme, it is convenient to consider C as the product's protrusion from the plane only after confirming the drawing. In the article, C is used primarily as a third dimension that must not be lost when ordering.
If the task is already defined, it is better to write the product line in full: R-020 / 93×59×12 mm / beech / Prestige / required quantity. Such a record eliminates confusion between the four scales of one pattern.
A column width of 100 mm and a flat mounting platform are not the same thing
The stair column card may indicate B=100 mm. For example, Staircase post L-077 has a size of 1170×100 mm. But this does not mean that at any of its heights there is a flat rectangular platform exactly 100 mm wide.
A real column may have:
- chamfers on the edges;
- roundings;
- carved sections;
- narrowings;
- transitions between the square and shaped part;
- already completed finishing;
- Coupling with a handrail or other elements.
For gluing the socket, you need not the nominal width of the entire post, but the specific flat area at the installation point.
A simple example: a post has a nominal 100 mm, but 8 mm on each side are taken up by chamfers. Then the flat field is:
100 − 8 − 8 = 84 mm.
In this case, R-020 with B=70 mm still fits, but the side remainder is different:
84 − 70 = 14 mm, that is, 7 mm on each side when centered.
That is why you cannot write “a 100 mm post means the largest R-020 fits.” First, measure the actual flat surface.
Our factory also produces:
Which R-020 size fits on a 100 mm flat face
If we really have a flat mounting area 100 mm wide and size B is placed across it, the calculation becomes transparent.
| R-020 | B across the post | Remainder with a 100 mm field | Margin on each side |
|---|---|---|---|
All four versions formally fit within 100 mm.
But from the table, you cannot automatically choose the "best" size. The larger the socket, the less free wood remains at the edges, and the more the decor occupies the face.
For several repeating posts, a smaller option may look calmer. For two main posts, a larger ornament is sometimes more appropriate. The decision should be made on the overall staircase layout.

Do not confuse A and B: why 110×70 fits in one position and does not fit in another
The most useful check for R-020 110×70 is a simple rotation of the template.
Let the flat face of the post be 100 mm.
Option 1: across the post B=70 mm
100 − 70 = 30 mm.
When centered, 15 mm remains on the right and left.
Geometrically, the variant fits.
Variant 2: rotate R-020 by 90°
Now A=110 mm runs across the post.
100 − 110 = −10 mm.
The socket becomes 10 mm wider than the flat field.
This does not mean that rotating R-020 is 'forbidden altogether.' The conclusion is different: orientation must be checked against the actual installation location.
If the design requires a horizontal position and dimension A extends beyond the plane, you need to choose a smaller socket or a different article. Do not trim the finished ornament just to make the selected size fit.
Why a paper template is needed even after calculation
The numbers show that 110×70 with B across the post leaves 15 mm on each side. But they do not answer the question of how such a scale looks next to the carving, handrail, and adjacent balusters.
Therefore, after calculation, a 1:1 template is made.
For R-020, it is convenient to prepare four rectangles:
- 60×38 mm;
- 77×49 mm;
- 93×59 mm;
- 110×70 mm.
On the template, A and B are immediately labeled. This protects against accidental rotation during fitting.
The template is applied to the intended point and photographed from several distances: close up, from the beginning of the stairs, and from the landing. If the posts are paired, both need to be visible simultaneously.
The rectangular template does not replicate the exact contour of the acanthus leaf and does not confirm the adhesive area. Its task is to filter out unsuitable scale and orientation before purchase.
R-020 60×38 and 77×49: when there is more free wood, a larger ornament is more useful
A small rosette does not necessarily look poorer.
With B=38 mm on a 100 mm field, 31 mm remains on each side. The decor is perceived as a small central mark, while the post itself remains visually dominant.
In 77×49, the side margins are 25.5 mm each. The pattern is more noticeable but still surrounded by a large amount of free surface.
These options are useful to check if:
- the post already has turned or carved decor;
- rosettes are repeated on a large number of posts;
- expressive balusters are located nearby;
- the finish is contrasting and even a small element reads well;
- you need to support the ornament rather than make it the main accent.
For a series of identical posts, small R-020 can provide a calmer rhythm than the maximum model on each support.
If you first need to view the assortment, the section Wooden rosettes more convenient than a specific card: there you can compare other proportions.
R-020 93×59: an intermediate size without the feeling of "almost the entire edge"
The 93×59 option occupies a noticeable part of the 100-mm field, but with B across it leaves 20.5 mm on each side.
This is a good candidate when 77×49 looks too modest, and 110×70 starts competing with the pillar architecture.
For the current card:
- beech Standard — 460 ₽;
- beech Prestige — 690 ₽;
- oak Standard — 660 ₽;
- oak Prestige — 890 ₽.
Here the commercial choice can already be made not only by size, but also by finish. If the buyer needs exactly a decorative wooden rosette to buy as an accent on two main pillars, 93×59 is worth checking with a template first or second after 110×70, rather than buying all sizes at random.
R-020 110×70: is 15 mm on the edges enough
With a perfect 100 mm plane, the large R-020 leaves 15 mm on each side. On paper, this is a normal positive remainder.
But the question of whether 15 mm is enough cannot be resolved with a universal number.
Need to check:
- are there chamfers;
- does a carved transition start nearby;
- how flat is the plane;
- does the rosette look too large relative to the height of the decorative zone;
- is it getting close to the handrail;
- how does the side relief C=14 mm read;
- does the finish conflict with adjacent elements.
If the actual plane is not 100 but 84 mm, the side remainder shrinks to 7 mm. If the plane is 76 mm:
76 − 70 = 6 mm, 3 mm on each side.
Formally, the product still fits, but the composition becomes completely different.
Therefore, the maximum option cannot be ordered based only on the label "100 mm post".
How much do two and four identical R-020 cost?
For paired stair posts, it is commercially useful to calculate not the price of one piece, but the entire visible set.
Let's take the size 93×59×12.
Two rosettes
If only one front face of each of the two posts is decorated:
- beech Standard: 2 × 460 = 920 ₽;
- beech Prestige: 2 × 690 = 1,380 ₽;
- oak Standard: 2 × 660 = 1,320 ₽;
- oak Prestige: 2 × 890 = 1,780 ₽.
Four rosettes
If two visible faces are decorated on each post:
- beech Standard: 4 × 460 = 1,840 ₽;
- beech Prestige: 4 × 690 = 2,760 ₽;
- oak Standard: 4 × 660 = 2,640 ₽;
- oak Prestige: 4 × 890 = 3,560 ₽.
The quantity cannot be determined only by the formula “two posts — two rosettes.” You first need to mark which faces are actually visible and should repeat the decor.
Two, four, or eight rosettes: counting by decorated faces
The quantity depends on the composition.
One face on each of the two posts:
1 × 2 = 2 sockets.
Two faces on each post:
2 × 2 = 4 sockets.
All four sides of two square posts:
4 × 2 = 8 sockets.
But four sides should not be decorated automatically. The back face may face a wall, the inner one is barely visible, and the side one may be blocked by a handrail or another part.
On the staircase plan, it is convenient to label posts C1 and C2, and faces — F, L, R, B: front, left, right, back. After that, the order is calculated based on the marked positions.
This way the buyer gets a specific number, not "let's take extra."
Beech or oak: first determine the future finish
R-020 is offered in beech and oak. The choice of wood species is best tied to the rest of the staircase and the type of finish.
If opaque enamel is planned, beech is often considered a convenient base. If you want to preserve a pronounced wood texture under a semi-transparent finish, oak may be more interesting.
But the wood species should not be chosen in isolation from the column. If the column itself is oak and remains with visible texture, a beech rosette under a clear coating may visually differ.
It is impossible to promise an absolute match of natural grain even within the same species. For a responsible project, it is better to approve a finish sample.
Standard or Prestige: what the buyer pays extra for
Standard and Prestige are levels of sanding, not two colors.
Standard — machine polishing.
Prestige is more detailed manual sanding, after which the product requires less finishing before subsequent operations.
For a small carved rosette, the difference is especially noticeable not in size, but in the surface's readiness for finishing. If the project is mass-produced and the finisher performs their own preparation anyway, Standard may be more rational. If decorative elements need to go quickly to finishing with minimal manual touch-up, Prestige may save work on site.
These options should be compared by the full process, not just by the price of one rosette.
Can R-020 be combined with column L-077 1170×100 mm
L-077 is useful as a real example of a column with parameter B=100 mm. Its card confirms the size 1170×100 mm.
But this does not mean that R-020 and L-077 form a ready-made factory set.
For a specific L-077, you need to determine where exactly the socket is planned, measure the flat area at that point, and check the orientation.
If at the selected height the column has a flat face of 100 mm, the calculations from this article apply directly.
If there is relief or narrowing, the field size is recalculated.
Therefore, the reference to Posts for staircase is needed as a path to choosing the base, not as a promise of compatibility of any socket with any column.
What to check regarding C before purchasing
The C dimension of R-020 varies from 8 to 14 mm.
It does not affect whether the rectangle fits on the front face by width, but it affects the three-dimensional relief.
For the largest R-020, C=14 mm. If the column is located close to a wall, railing, or another element, the side view needs to be checked separately.
One should not conclude that 14 mm will necessarily create a conflict. You just need to include the third size in the project.
It is useful to cut out not only a paper rectangle, but also to make a side spacer of the required thickness from cardboard or foam material. This will make it clear how much the decor protrudes relative to the surface.
Assembly adhesive: a separate item, but we do not calculate the consumption by one rosette "by eye"
Card R-020 recommends assembly adhesive TYTAN Prof. Classic Fix. Its current card shows a 100 ml tube and a price of 590 ₽.
The adhesive manufacturer on the STAVROS page indicates an approximate consumption of about 10 linear meters when applied in a line. But for a small carved rosette, this figure cannot be converted into an exact number of items without understanding the back area and the application method.
That is, the tube should not be calculated using the formula "10 meters / width of one R-020".
It is more correct to first confirm the base of the column, the material of the rosette, and the installation scheme. After that, you can assembly glue for wooden decor add it as a separate order item.
When it is better not to buy a large R-020
Even if 110×70 geometrically fits into 100 mm, this does not mean that it should be chosen.
The maximum size should be avoided if:
- the flat area is significantly narrower than the nominal 100 mm;
- the chamfers leave too small a field;
- the column decor is already saturated;
- the large rosette conflicts with the handrail;
- on a series of identical 110×70 columns, it creates too heavy a rhythm;
- the project requires a horizontal orientation, in which A=110 ends up across the 100-mm face.
In these cases, the smaller R-020 may be more professional and visually calmer.
Mistakes when ordering R-020 for a stair column
Mistake: assuming that B of the column and B of the rosette are automatically compatible. The letters refer to different products and different drawings. The actual geometric directions need to be compared.
Error: do not sign the orientation. R-020 110×70 fits when 70 mm is across and does not fit when 110 mm is across a 100-mm field.
Error: use nominal 100 mm instead of the flat zone. Chamfers and relief may reduce space for mounting.
Error: order the maximum size only because it is the most expressive. The scale must be checked on the entire staircase.
Error: buy two sockets each and then decide to finish two sides of each post. The quantity is calculated based on pre-approved visible faces.
Error: consider Standard and Prestige as color options. These are polishing levels.
Error: assign adhesive without checking the substrate. Compatibility of the mounting compound depends on materials and surface conditions.
What to write in the request to the manager
After fitting, the request must be unambiguous.
For example:
R-020 / 93×59×12 mm / oak / Prestige / 4 pcs. / application — two visible faces of two stair posts / orientation: B=59 mm across the flat face / finish and availability to be confirmed.
If 110×70 is selected, the dimensions in the line change.
If the decor is installed only on the front of two pillars, the quantity will be 2.
It is useful to attach a photo of the pillar with the actual flat area size and an A/B orientation diagram to the order. This is more useful than the phrase "need the largest R-020 for a 100 mm pillar."
R-020 acceptance: check the size and orientation before finishing and gluing
When the order arrives at the site, do not immediately send all sockets for painting or installation. For a batch of two, four, or eight items, a short incoming inspection is useful.
First, lay out the parts by size and verify the full marking A×B×C against the request. If R-020 93×59×12 is selected in the project, all positions must match this exact version. For a mixed order of different sizes, it is better to separate the groups before finishing begins.
Then, temporarily place a project orientation mark on the back side: for example, an arrow "A vertical" or "B across the pillar." Such simple marking protects against an installer's error who might rotate the rectangular socket 90° already on the ladder.
After that, one part from the batch is applied to each type of pillar without glue and checked against the template. If two pillars are formally identical, but one has a more pronounced chamfer or a different profile transition, this will be detected before irreversible installation.
Finishing should also be coordinated as one batch. If four R-020s should look the same, they need one color and gloss sample. For oak with visible texture, do not expect an absolute match of the wood grain pattern, but the overall finish should be coordinated.
Only after this check are the final positions fixed on the diagram and installation is launched.
Where to buy wooden sockets R-020
If the size and orientation have already been confirmed, you can buy wooden rosette R-020 in the selected configuration.
If after the template it became clear that R-020 does not fit in proportions, it is better to return to the section where you can buy wooden rosettes, and choose a different item.
For a wider decorative system, you can also carved decor buy, but do not add extra elements just to fill the column.
Questions before purchasing R-020
What sizes does R-020 have?
60×38×8, 77×49×10, 93×59×12, and 110×70×14 mm.
Which R-020 fits on a flat 100 mm face?
If B is placed across the post, all four versions fit geometrically. The largest leaves 15 mm on each side.
Why might R-020 110×70 not fit after rotation?
When rotated across the 100 mm face, A=110 mm. That is 10 mm more than the available space.
Can you rely only on the nominal width of the post?
No. You need to measure the actual flat area at the installation point.
What margin remains for 93×59 on a 100 mm field?
With B=59 mm across, 41 mm remains, that is 20.5 mm on each side.
What to choose — 77×49 or 93×59?
Both fit. The choice depends on visual scale, available space, and the number of repeating rosettes.
When is 110×70 better?
When the actual platform is confirmed, the large scale does not overload the column and orientation B=70 matches the project.
Do I need to consider C?
Yes. C varies from 8 to 14 mm and determines the third dimension of the decor.
Can R-020 be called a ready-made kit for L-077?
No. L-077 is used as an example of a 1170×100 mm column, and compatibility is checked against a specific flat area.
How many R-020 are needed for two columns?
If one face of each is decorated — 2. Two faces — 4. All four sides — 8.
What are Standard and Prestige?
These are grinding quality options, not colors.
Which wood should you choose?
Beech or oak is chosen based on the material of the post and the future finish.
Is assembly adhesive needed?
For overlay decor, an agreed mounting method is required. Card R-020 recommends TYTAN Prof. Classic Fix, but the base and installation technology need to be checked.
Do I need to buy several sizes for fitting?
No. The initial selection can be made using full-size templates.
What to do if no size looks proportional?
Choose another item in the wooden rosette category, rather than forcing R-020 to work at an inappropriate scale.
