48 − 11 = 37 mm.

But the hand does not work like a metal probe 37 mm thick. It changes position during movement, fingers pass near the relief, knuckles approach the wall, and near the brackets the free space may be less than in the middle of the span. The wall itself may also have deviations, and the actual mounting plane of PAN-003 is determined not by a single number from the card.

Therefore, 37 mm is only a preliminary calculation, not a confirmation of a comfortable grip.

Before the main purchase, three things need to be checked: the minimum actual gap along the entire length of the handrail, the nodes near each type of bracket, and the real hand movement with a physical OPAN-003 thickness of 11 mm installed in the future finish plane.

If the grip remains free, PAN-003 can be guided along the handrail. If fingers or knuckles start to catch on the relief, it is better not to "win millimeters" through dubious installation, but to change the finish boundary: leave a smooth service strip behind the handrail, raise PAN-003 above the grip line, or move the slat accent to another part of the wall.

Suitable if a prepared base for an opaque finish is needed. This is a different SKU and a different price.

Oak and beech 2400 mm

With a wall around 2580 mm, one long wooden PAN-003 is no longer enough in height. This means the wooden material changes not only the appearance but also the cutting layout itself.

Wall handrail 48 mm from the wall and PAN-003 with a depth of 11 mm: what the remaining 37 mm means

Basic formula:

G0 = 48 mm

Cpan = 11 mm

Gnom = 48 − 11 = 37 mm

This result answers only one question: how much will nominally remain if PAN-003 is simply added to a perfectly flat wall without considering the actual installation.

The actual node is more complex:

Greal = original gap − PAN-003 − mounting layer − local base deviations

The thickness of the mounting layer cannot be assigned a universal number — it depends on the chosen fastening method and the condition of the wall. Moreover, the handrail itself may not be at the same distance along its entire length.

Therefore, instead of the phrase "after PAN-003, 37 mm will remain," it is more correct to write: "nominally about 37 mm; the actual space is checked on site."

Why PAN-003 cannot be purchased based on a single handrail measurement

A handrail several meters long is not checked at one point. At minimum, take five control positions: the beginning of the handrail, approximately 25% of the length, the middle, approximately 75%, and the end.

At each location, record the distance from the nearest part of the handrail to the wall, the bracket position, the actual space for the hand, and the local base geometry.

Suppose the values obtained are:

48 / 50 / 46 / 49 / 47 mm.

Then the initial size for assessment becomes 46 mm, not 48 and not the average.

Nominally after PAN-003:

46 − 11 = 35 mm.

If near one bracket the actual free clearance is even smaller, that section becomes the determining one.

The main check of PAN-003 behind the handrail is not millimeters, but the real grip.

A person needs not just to place fingers between the handrail and the wall. They need to wrap around the handrail, run their hand along it, pass the section near the bracket, and not touch the relief with their knuckles.

Do not invent a universal number after which the grip is automatically considered comfortable. The shape of the handrail, hand size, bracket position, and PAN-003 profile vary. A practical test is more reliable than an abstract number.

OPAN-003 200×11×310 mm: how to check the real geometry behind the handrail

OPAN-003 has dimensions 200×11×310 mm and the same depth important to us — 11 mm.

You can buy an OPAN-003 sample and sequentially apply it to the wall.

The sample is placed in the tightest spot, near each type of bracket, in the middle of the free span, at the beginning of the handrail and at its end. Then the hand is run along the handrail several times with a normal motion, and the full grip, finger position, knuckles, and transition over the bracket are checked.

A 310 mm long sample does not cover the entire handrail, so it is repositioned at control points.

Checking PAN-003 with the right and left hand: why a single pass is not enough

If the handrail is used by different people, a single fitting with your dominant hand is not enough. The hand position changes depending on the direction of movement along the corridor: when passing in one direction, a person may lead the hand from above and slightly outward, and in the opposite direction, turn the hand closer to the wall. Therefore, OPAN-003 is useful to check in both directions and with both hands.

It is also worth walking the section in outerwear separately if the corridor is near the entrance area. Here, the task is not to assign a universal "winter allowance," but to see the actual movement of the elbow, wrist, and fingers in the mode in which the handrail will actually be used.

If one scenario passes freely, while another forces the hand to turn or lift off the handrail near the bracket, this is already an argument in favor of a smooth strip. Such a check is especially valuable before purchasing five full-size PAN-003 panels, because correcting the finish boundary on a drawing is cheaper than redoing a finished corridor.

PAN-003 and the handrail bracket: why the handrail itself may pass, but the hand may not

On a long straight section, the distance may be sufficient. The problem often appears precisely near the mounting point.

It is necessary to check the bracket base, the post, the decorative cover, protruding screws, and the place where the hand passes over or near the bracket.

If PAN-003 fits closely to the bracket, it may turn out that geometrically the handrail itself does not conflict with the panel, but finger movement becomes uncomfortable. Therefore, the mock-up cannot be placed only between the mountings.

Advantage — continuous vertical rhythm.

Disadvantage — the relief reduces space in the grip area.

Option B. A smooth horizontal strip remains behind the handrail

Advantages:

• the original wall plane is preserved directly behind the hand;

• easier to work around the brackets;

• no need to automatically relocate the handrail;

• the line can become a separate architectural belt.

Option B. PAN-003 ends above the handrail line

The lower part of the wall remains smooth.

Option D. PAN-003 goes above and below, while the handrail area remains smooth

This creates a deliberate horizontal composition. The choice should be based on the overall wall layout, not just ease of installation.

Why a smooth strip doesn't have to look like a compromise

If its height is tied to other interior lines, it is perceived as part of the design.

The strip can be aligned with door trims, the top line of the baseboard, a color boundary, or another horizontal element in the corridor. Then the smooth zone doesn't look like "a place where PAN-003 wasn't installed." It becomes a deliberate belt that also preserves the handrail's function.

PAN-003 with a width of 1000 mm: how many modules are needed for a 4300 mm wall

If PAN-003 runs across the entire width of the wall:

4300 / 1000 = 4,3.

Four modules are not enough.

Need 5 PAN-003.

Total initial width:

5 × 1000 = 5000 mm.

Nominal trimming:

5000 − 4300 = 700 mm.

Can the smooth area behind the handrail reduce the number of PAN-003

It's easy to draw the wrong conclusion here.

If the smooth strip is horizontal, and PAN-003 still goes as vertical modules across the entire width of 4300 mm, the number of initial panels may not change at all.

The finishing area has become smaller. But the wall width remains 4300 mm.

Therefore, the original width requirement can remain the same: 5 modules.

This is an important purchasing principle:

less area ≠ automatically fewer PAN-003 units.

Savings only appear when the source parts map changes so that one module truly becomes unnecessary.

When reducing the slat field to 3950 mm changes the order

Suppose the architectural solution does not just remove a horizontal strip, but actually reduces the continuous slat field in width to 3950 mm.

Then:

4 × 1000 = 4000 mm.

Four PAN-003 units are already enough.

Nominal trimming:

4000 − 3950 = 50 mm.

Cost:

4 × 26 410 = 105 640 ₽.

Difference compared to five modules:

Calculation:

2670 − 2580 = 90 mm.

Not necessarily.

Wood tones that are too close but slightly different sometimes look worse than deliberate contrast.

You need to check the species, tone, grain direction, gloss level, finish, and hallway lighting together. The handrail is a horizontal element, PAN-003 is a vertical rhythm. Even the same species in different directions can be perceived differently.

PAN-003 and wooden baseboard: three horizontals of one wall

After adding slat cladding, at least three strong lines appear on the wall:

1. baseboard;

2. handrail;

3. the boundary of the slat field or the smooth service strip.
