From a 2600 mm strip, after a 1800 mm vertical, 800 mm remains. A 900 mm horizontal cannot be made from it. You cannot "add" the missing 100 mm with an inconspicuous piece: a transverse joint on a straight section of primed MDF will require repair and may show after painting.

Dust the surface. If the final paint technology requires matting, do it with fine abrasive without removing the primer down to MDF. Open cut ends absorb differently, so prepare them separately with a compatible material.
