The door is opened slowly, and in the middle of its travel, a rigid template 8 mm thick is slid against the wall. At the beginning of the trajectory, it passes freely. Closer to the fully open position, the door leaf comes noticeably closer to it. It is at this moment that it becomes clear why a single measurement of "18 mm from the door to the wall" is not enough to order PAN-007.

On paper, everything is simple:

18 − 8 = 10 mm.

But these 10 mm are only the nominal remainder after adding the PAN-007 relief. In the actual assembly, the mounting layer, wall unevenness, roller adjustment, possible door leaf sway, handle, bottom guide element, baseboard, and how parallel the door actually runs along the wall throughout its travel all come into play.

Therefore, the answer to the main question is this: PAN-007 can be considered with an initial gap of 18 mm, but ordering a full-size batch based solely on arithmetic is not possible. First, you need to find the minimum actual gap along the entire trajectory and verify it with a physical OPAN-007 or an equivalent 8 mm thick template.

If the door passes freely in all positions after such a check and the clearance remains visually and mechanically acceptable, you can proceed to calculating full-size modules.

At this stage, it makes sense to open the catalog and buy wall slat panels based on the confirmed wall map, not on a single initial size of 18 mm.

If the door leaf comes almost flush at one point, it is better to change the finishing scheme: leave a smooth service strip behind the door or move the slat composition out of the movement zone entirely.

Slat panel PAN-007 1010×8×2670 mm: which SKU we are considering

For a wall height of about 2500–2600 mm, the logical base configuration is PAN-007 made of MDF with a length of 2670 mm.

The current card shows:

Execution Size Price at the time of check Status
MDF, Prestige 1010×8×2670 mm 20 180 ₽ In stock
Primed MDF 1010×8×2670 mm 37 470 ₽ on order 5–10 days
Beech, Prestige 1010×8×2400 mm 27 390 ₽ In stock
Oak, Prestige 1010×8×2400 mm 43 790 ₽ In stock

For our mechanical conflict, the following are especially important:

  • module width — 1010 mm;

  • relief depth — 8 mm;

  • MDF length — 2670 mm;

  • fabric base;

  • trapezoidal slat profile.

If the working gap is already confirmed, you can buy PAN-007 1010×8×2670 mm.

Beech and oak

Long wooden versions have a length of 2400 mm. If the wall is higher than 2400 mm, that is a different cutting pattern and a potential horizontal joint.

Short PAN-007 740 and 950 mm

For a wall height of about 2600 mm, they are not a direct replacement for the long module. They can only be used in a different compositional or cutting scheme.

Sliding door 18 mm from the wall and PAN-007 8 mm: what the remaining 10 mm means

Basic calculation:

G0 = 18 mm

Cpan = 8 mm

Gnom = 18 − 8 = 10 mm

This result is useful only as a first filter.

The real node is closer to the formula:

Greal = initial gap − PAN-007 − mounting layer − geometric deviations

The thickness of the mounting layer cannot be honestly assigned in advance as a universal number: it depends on the base, the fixing method, and the quality of the wall.

Therefore, 10 mm cannot be written in the project as a "ready working gap."

Why you need to find the minimum gap along the entire door trajectory

The sliding panel is not checked at a single point.

At minimum, five positions should be taken:

  1. door closed;

  2. approximately 25% of travel;

  3. middle;

  4. approximately 75% of travel;

  5. door fully open.

In each position, the distance is measured:

  • from the top;

  • in the center;

  • from the bottom.

Let's imagine that at the midpoint the height values are:

18 / 19 / 17 / 20 / 18 mm.

Then for the calculation, neither the average nor the maximum value is used, but 17 mm.

Nominally after PAN-007:

17 − 8 = 9 mm.

This is already one millimeter less than the original estimate.

If from below in the same position it turns out to be 15 mm:

15 − 8 = 7 mm.

That is why one tape measure in one position can give a false sense of margin.

PAN-007 and sliding door: why the panel may not run perfectly parallel to the wall

Even a properly functioning door does not have to maintain an absolutely uniform distance from the wall along its entire path.

The trajectory can be affected by:

  • roller adjustment;

  • position of the guide rail;

  • slight swaying of the panel;

  • geometry of the wall itself;

  • bottom guide element;

  • door stop;

  • hardware;

  • decorative details of the panel.

In the article, it is impossible to assign the permissible swing of a specific mechanism without its technical documentation.

The practical conclusion is different: dynamic testing is more important than static size.

The door must actually be run through its full travel next to an 8-millimeter template.

OPAN-007 184×8×310 mm: how to check door passage before purchasing PAN-007

OPAN-007 has the same 8 mm depth, which is important for this assembly.

Sample size:

184×8×310 mm.

At the time of checking, the following are available:

  • MDF — 550 ₽;

  • beech — 960 ₽;

  • oak — 1,600 ₽.

For mechanical fitting, any version with confirmed 8 mm geometry is sufficient, if the material is not yet a subject of choice.

You can buy OPAN-007 sample and use it as a real fragment of the future surface.

Step 1. Find the tightest spot

Do not start the test where the gap is visually the largest.

Step 2. Apply OPAN-007 to the wall

The sample should occupy the future plane of the panel.

Step 3. Slowly move the door through the entire travel

Watch not only the door leaf, but also the handle and other protrusions.

Step 4. Repeat the test above and below

The 310 mm sample does not cover the entire height of the door, so it is repositioned.

Step 5. Move the door with a normal motion

The slow test shows the geometry, the normal motion shows the real behavior of the mechanism.

If the door leaf comes too close to the sample at even one point, it is too early to order the full-size PAN-007.

PAN-007 along the entire trajectory or a smooth service strip

After the test, there are three normal design options.

Option A. PAN-007 goes behind the entire door

Plus — a single rack plane.

Minus — the relief reduces the gap along the entire trajectory.

This option only makes sense with confirmed mechanics.

Option B. A smooth strip remains behind the panel

PAN-007 starts where the door no longer passes close to the wall.

Advantages:

  • the decorative layer does not interfere with the mechanics;

  • easier to maintain the door;

  • sometimes the number of panels is reduced.

But visually, you need to check whether the smooth area looks intentional.

Option B. PAN-007 only on the adjacent accent zone

Sometimes this is the best solution.

If the door already creates a strong vertical composition, it is not necessary to clad the wall behind the moving panel with relief.

Buy slat panels for the entire wall or only for the visible part

Suppose the total wall length is:

3860 mm.

If finishing everything:

3860 / 1010 = 3,82

Need 4 PAN-007.

Nominal total width:

4 × 1010 = 4040 mm.

Trimming:

4040 − 3860 = 180 mm.

Now let's leave a smooth service strip of 910 mm behind the door.

Slat field:

3860 − 910 = 2950 mm.

Three PAN-007:

3 × 1010 = 3030 mm.

Trimming:

3030 − 2950 = 80 mm.

That is, in this specific example, abandoning the slats behind the door indeed reduces the order from four modules to three.

After approving the zone, you can Buy slatted panels based on the actual wall map.

Cost of four and three PAN-007 made of MDF

The price of one PAN-007 1010×8×2670 mm MDF panel at the time of check is 20,180 ₽.

Full wall — 4 panels

4 × 20 180 = 80 720 ₽.

Slat field 2950 mm — 3 panels

3 × 20 180 = 60 540 ₽.

Difference in the cost of the modules themselves:

80 720 − 60 540 = 20 180 ₽.

This is not a promise of savings for any project. It works only because changing the width in this example crosses the boundary between four and three original modules.

If the designer compares the cost of slat panels, you need to count the actual product modules, not just square meters.

Why removing 900 mm of trim sometimes does not reduce the order at all

Let's consider another example.

Source field:

2990 mm.

Three panels:

3 × 1010 = 3030 mm.

Three is already enough.

Suppose after excluding the zone behind the door, 2600 mm remains.

Three panels are still needed:

2 × 1010 = 2020 mm — not enough.

That is, the area decreased by 390 mm, but the number of original PAN-007 remained the same.

Therefore, the phrase “leave a smooth wall behind the door and save a panel” must be confirmed by the layout.

Three PAN-007 on a 2950 mm field: where to put 80 mm

If the total width of three modules is 3030 mm and the field is 2950 mm, you need to remove 80 mm.

Options:

40 mm from each edge

Gives a symmetrical composition if the slat pattern allows such an ending.

80 mm from the less visible edge

May be justified if one edge is covered by an architectural element.

Shifting the entire grid

Sometimes it is better to keep the full outer slat near the door opening and move the cut to the corner.

The final decision is made based on the actual rhythm of PAN-007, not just the 80 mm figure.

PAN-007 near the door trim: where the last trapezoid should end

A bad edge can ruin even a correctly calculated wall.

Near the trim, the following are possible:

  • the last full batten;

  • the inter-batten field;

  • a small smooth section;

  • a separate finish profile.

Do not accidentally cut the trapezoidal batten right at the trim just because the width happened to fall that way.

It is better to mark the edge of PAN-007 on the wall layout in advance and understand which part of the rhythm fits the doorway.

MDF PAN-007 or a wooden panel near the door

MDF (740–760 kg/m³, emission class E1/E0) provides ideal geometry, uniformity, and better base for enamel: high adhesion, smooth surface, absence of knots and cracks.

For a tall wall, MDF 2670 mm is convenient in length.

It is also suitable when the relief needs to be painted in the color of the wall or door.

For comparison, you can open the category buy MDF slat panels.

Oak

The oak PAN-007 has a long version of 2400 mm.

With a wall of about 2580–2600 mm, one piece in height is no longer enough.

Beech

It has the same long dimensional logic of 2400 mm, but a different character of natural wood.

If wood is essential, first design a horizontal joint or another scheme, rather than ordering 2400 mm hoping to "stretch it during installation."

PAN-007 and the sliding door handle: a separate check

The panel may pass, but the handle may not.

Especially need to check:

  • inner handle;

  • outer handle;

  • end grip;

  • decorative overlay;

  • limiter;

  • any protruding screws or elements.

It cannot be claimed that a specific handle is sufficient with the nominal 10 mm until its actual geometry is measured.

The check is performed in the same way: OPAN-007 or an 8-millimeter mock-up is placed in the future plane, and the door goes through the full travel.

PAN-007 and wooden baseboard: the second potential conflict

For a sliding door, the lower zone is sometimes more complex than the middle part.

The panel may pass near the baseboard, lower guide element, or stopper.

Check:

  • baseboard protrusion;

  • where it starts and ends;

  • height of the lower edge of the door;

  • position of the lower guide;

  • stop;

  • transition from the plinth to PAN-007.

If the project includes a new profile, it is better to buy wooden baseboard only after joint verification with the door.

PAN-007 made of MDF 2670 mm: is the length sufficient for a wall of 2580 mm

At the finished height:

2580 мм

and panel length:

2670 мм

Nominal remainder:

2670 − 2580 = 90 mm.

This is a good preliminary allowance for the final cut.

But the height needs to be checked at minimum:

  • at the beginning of the door trajectory;

  • in the center;

  • at the end of the stroke;

  • near the adjacent corner.

The floor and ceiling may not be perfectly parallel.

If the maximum actual height turns out to be higher than the design height, the entire batch cannot be cut in advance.

Is it necessary to remove the sliding door for PAN-007 installation?

There is no universal answer.

Several scenarios are possible:

The door remains in place

PAN-007 is mounted only outside the trajectory.

The panel is temporarily removed by a specialist

This may provide access to the wall, but the solution depends on the specific mechanism.

After finishing, the system is adjusted again

If a change to the finished surface is provided for by the design.

They refuse continuous finishing.

If the mechanical allowance is too small.

Do not attempt to remove or readjust a complex sliding system on your own without the manufacturer's instructions and an understanding of its mounting.

Mistakes when ordering PAN-007 near a sliding door

Mistake 1. Considering 18−8=10 as the final answer

Reason: both figures are known.

Consequence: installation and the minimum point of the trajectory are not taken into account.

How to avoid: dynamic test.

Mistake 2. Measuring the door only when closed

Reason: this is the most convenient position.

Consequence: the conflict occurs closer to the open position.

How to avoid: five positions of the stroke.

Mistake 3. Check only the panel

Reason: it is the largest.

Consequence: the handle hits the relief before the panel.

How to avoid: take into account all protruding elements.

Mistake 4. Clad the entire wall "for solidity"

Reason: you want a continuous pattern.

Consequence: the decorative layer interferes with the door operation.

How to avoid: compare the solid and service schemes.

Error 5. Forgetting the bottom plinth

Reason: the gap is measured at eye level.

Consequence: at the bottom, the door conflicts with a more protruding profile.

How to avoid: a separate bottom cutout.

What to send to the STAVROS manager before ordering PAN-007

A good specification looks like this:

PAN-007 / MDF / 1010×8×2670 mm / wall ___×___ / sliding door already installed / minimum initial gap ___ mm / travel zone ___ mm / smooth service strip yes-no / OPAN-007 checked yes-no / slat field ___ mm / preliminary quantity ___ / plinth ___ / color ___.

If the geometry is confirmed, you can order a slat panel PAN-007 already with a clear map of the wall.

When not to buy PAN-007 yet

Purchase is premature if:

  • 18 mm measured approximately;

  • door will still be adjusted;

  • gap not checked along full travel;

  • handle not installed;

  • bottom assembly not checked;

  • baseboard not selected;

  • OPAN-007 or 8 mm mockup not used;

  • unknown whether door will be removed during installation;

  • no rack field map;

  • edge near the trim is not resolved.

Result: is 18 mm enough for PAN-007 with a depth of 8 mm

By arithmetic:

18 − 8 = 10 mm.

But these 10 mm cannot be considered a guaranteed working clearance.

Need to check:

  1. minimum distance throughout the door travel;

  2. three levels in height;

  3. handle and other protrusions;

  4. bottom plinth and guide assembly;

  5. actual plane of PAN-007 considering installation;

  6. real OPAN-007 or rigid 8 mm template.

If the door freely passes such a check, PAN-007 can be included in the project.

If the clearance disappears at least at one point, it is better to leave a smooth service strip behind the panel or move the slat accent to the adjacent part of the wall.

The product itself should not force reworking an already properly functioning door.

If PAN-007 in the movement zone does not pass the check, you can buy wall slatted panels for the adjacent accent zone and leave the mechanical door trajectory smooth.

Yes, such a long version is available in MDF.

Can I buy PAN-007 made of MDF?

Yes. The card contains regular and primed MDF.

Can PAN-007 be used near a sliding door?

Such a joint can be considered after checking the actual clearance along the entire trajectory.

Will the initial 18 mm gap be enough?

This cannot be determined from a single number.

Will exactly 10 mm remain after PAN-007?

Not necessarily. 10 mm is the nominal arithmetic difference before accounting for installation and deviations.

Yes, but it cannot be pre-assigned a universal thickness.

How to measure the gap along the door trajectory?

Check several positions of the panel and several levels in height.

Do we need to check the handle separately?

Yes. It may protrude closer to the wall than the panel itself.

Can we leave a smooth wall behind the door?

Yes. This is one of the rational options if the relief reduces the working gap.

Will a smooth strip reduce the number of PAN-007?

Sometimes yes, but only if the new field width crosses the boundary of the number of modules.

What is the purpose of buying OPAN-007?

To physically check the 8 mm depth and relief before ordering full-size panels.

What is the size of OPAN-007?

How to check OPAN-007 near a moving door?

Place it in the future plane of the panel at the tightest point and run the door through its full travel at several heights.

How to join PAN-007 with a casing?

You need to choose the ending of the slat rhythm in advance: a full slat, a gap between slats, a smooth edge, or a separate profile.

How to join PAN-007 with a wooden baseboard?

According to a separate bottom cut, taking into account the door leaf trajectory and the baseboard protrusion.

How many PAN-007 panels are needed for a slat field of 2950 mm?

Three modules with a width of 1010 mm give 3030 mm, so nominally three are sufficient.
