- What is the price of MLD-055 at the time of checking?
The tape measure on the first vertical shows 2520 mm. On the second — almost the same. On the third — a couple more millimeters of difference. The decorative cornice is already installed, the bottom line of the library is formed, and now it becomes clear why the choice of MLD-055 material cannot be made only by species or price per single plank.
MLD-055 has the same front geometry of 38×18 mm, but the standard length depends on the material:
-
MDF — 2600 mm;
-
beech — 2400 mm;
-
oak — 2400 mm.
For a vertical of 2520 mm, this is a fundamental difference.
MDF covers it with a single piece:
2600 − 2520 = 80 mm of nominal remainder.
Beech and oak do not reach:
2520 − 2400 = 120 mm.
On six verticals, six identical missing sections occur. Their total net footage:
6 × 120 = 720 mm.
One additional 2400 mm plank of material for such extensions provides ample margin in length.
Therefore, the preliminary order is as follows:
-
6 MLD-055 from MDF 2600 mm — six solid verticals;
-
7 MLD-055 from beech or oak 2400 mm — six main parts and one additional for the upper extensions.
But arithmetic alone does not automatically make the wooden option good. The main question is where the transverse joint of 2400+120 mm will end up. If the upper cornice truly covers it or the composition has a frieze, shadow line, or another intended node, solid wood may be justified. If the joint remains exposed on a smooth vertical, solid MDF under enamel often looks stronger.
After this check, you can already decide which Buy wooden molding and how many slats to include in the order.
Wooden molding MLD-055 38×18 mm: which lengths are actually available
The current MLD-055 card confirms three main versions.
| Material | Size | Price at the time of check | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| MDF | 38×18×2600 mm | 1 070 ₽ | In stock |
| Beech | 38×18×2400 mm | 2 490 ₽ | In stock |
| Oak | 38×18×2400 mm | 3 690 ₽ | In stock |
All three versions have a 38×18 mm profile, but the length differs.
This means that in the specification you cannot simply write:
MLD-055 38×18 mm — 6 pcs.
You must add the material and length.
Correct:
-
MLD-055 / MDF / 38×18×2600 mm; -
MLD-055 / beech / 38×18×2400 mm; -
MLD-055 / oak / 38×18×2400 mm.
And you cannot automatically write "oak MLD-055 2600 mm" if such a configuration is not confirmed by the current product card.
After selecting the material, you can buy MLD-055 38×18×2600 mm in MDF or choose the wooden version 2400 mm in the same product card.
MLD-055 made of MDF 2600 mm: why six verticals are covered by six slats
Finishing length of one vertical:
2520 mm.
Original MDF slat:
2600 mm.
Remainder:
80 mm.
Across six verticals:
6 × 80 = 480 mm of nominal total remainder.
There is no transverse joint here.
Each decorative line is made with one single piece.
For the built-in library, this provides several practical advantages:
-
identical profile pattern along the entire height;
-
no six transverse connections;
-
simpler serial marking;
-
easier to maintain the same abutment to the cornice;
-
fewer places where a joint line may appear after painting.
If the library is painted with covering enamel, you can separately view the section buy MDF molding, but for our geometry, MLD-055 already fits in length.
Our factory also produces:
Beech and oak MLD-055 2400 mm: why six planks are not enough
For wood, the calculation is different.
Finish vertical:
2520 mm.
Standard plank:
2400 mm.
Missing:
120 mm.
If you buy only six planks, you get six pieces of 2400 mm each and not a single piece from which you can make six upper extensions without changing the overall scheme.
Therefore, six beech or oak MLD-055 is an incomplete order.
Minimum preliminary scheme:
-
6 slats — main verticals;
-
1 additional — extensions.
Total:
7 planks.

How much material is needed for six upper extensions of 120 mm each
Net requirement:
6 × 120 = 720 mm.
Additional slat:
2400 mm.
Nominal remainder after six extensions:
2400 − 720 = 1680 mm.
The actual remainder will be less due to cuts and final trimming.
But even with this consideration, one additional slat provides a large margin in length.
Therefore, the eighth slat cannot be added mechanically by the rule of “mandatory 10%”.
First, you need to check:
-
actual six heights;
-
the location of each joint;
-
the saw kerf width;
-
the profile orientation;
-
possible end face defect;
-
is a repair reserve needed.
Why seven wooden MLD-055 solve the footage but not the appearance
This is the main limitation of the solid wood option.
Scheme:
2400 + 120 = 2520 mm
works along the length.
But on each vertical, a horizontal joint appears.
Total:
6 joints.
If they are openly located in the middle of a smooth vertical, the eye will read them as a repeating technological line.
This is especially noticeable:
-
on oak under a transparent finish;
-
in side light;
-
on dark tinting;
-
when six verticals stand side by side;
-
when viewing the library up close.
Therefore, the decision to use "7 solid wood planks" should only be made after designing the top joint.
Where is it more logical to place the 120-millimeter extension piece
Main working hypothesis:
long piece 2400 mm at the bottom + short extension piece at the top.
Why specifically at the top?
Because the built-in library already has a top cornice.
If its geometry partially overlaps MLD-055, the joint may become visually less noticeable.
But you cannot write in advance that the cornice will "definitely hide 120 mm."
You need to get a section of the node.
Check:
-
how far the cornice protrudes forward;
-
how many millimeters of vertical it actually covers;
-
where the front part of MLD-055 ends;
-
whether the joint line remains visible;
-
whether there is room for a neat finish.
If the overlap covers only a small part, the remaining tens of millimeters will still be visible.
Why the 120-millimeter extension should not be placed in the middle of the vertical
From a length perspective, the vertical can be cut in different ways.
For example:
1200 + 120 + 1200 mm.
But visually, such a joint ends up in the most noticeable area.
This is poor logic for a decorative architectural line.
The goal of MLD-055 is to create a continuous vertical line.
Therefore, a short extension piece, if used at all, is more rationally routed to the joint:
-
cornice;
-
frieze;
-
top panel;
-
or another specified horizontal boundary.
The furniture maker must confirm the specific option before cutting.
MDF MLD-055 under enamel: when integrity matters more than solid wood
If the library is fully painted, the decorative profile material may cease to be an independent visual accent.
In this case, the buyer sees not the wood texture, but:
-
shape 38×18 mm;
-
the rhythm of six verticals;
-
shadow from the profile;
-
the color of the enamel.
Then the advantage of MDF 2600 mm becomes very practical:
one vertical = one piece.
There is no need to create six joints just to preserve, under opaque enamel, a solid wood that still won't be visible as wood.
This does not mean that MDF is 'better than beech.' It means that for a specific opaque project, the 2600 mm length may matter more than the species.
Beech MLD-055 under enamel or MDF: why pay for solid wood
You should compare not the material itself, but the final structure.
MDF (740–760 kg/m³, emission class E1/E0) provides ideal geometry, uniformity, and better base for enamel: high adhesion, smooth surface, absence of knots and cracks.
-
2600 mm;
-
six solid verticals;
-
price 1,070 ₽ per plank;
-
Suitable for enamel.
Beech
-
2400 mm;
-
an upper extension is needed;
-
seven original planks;
-
price 2,490 ₽ per plank.
If the beech is then completely covered by a cladding system and the texture is not visible, you need to ask a direct question:
what specific benefit does the project get from solid wood?
A possible answer should come from the furniture workshop's technology, the client's requirements, or the construction.
If there is no answer, MDF may be more rational.
Oak MLD-055: when natural texture justifies the joint
Oak is a different situation.
If the library is made:
-
in oak veneer;
-
from solid wood;
-
with transparent tinting;
-
with oil or varnish that preserves the grain;
-
with pronounced wood texture,
replacing the verticals with painted MDF can destroy the material logic.
Then the task changes:
not 'how to avoid joints at any cost', but
'how to make the six upper joints part of the structure and hide them as much as possible in the architectural node'.
After approval, you can buy oak MLD-055 in the quantity confirmed by the cutting map.
Cost of six MDF panels versus seven beech and oak MLD-055
Counting the price of a single plank is not enough.
The project requires different quantities.
MDF (740–760 kg/m³, emission class E1/E0) provides ideal geometry, uniformity, and better base for enamel: high adhesion, smooth surface, absence of knots and cracks.
6 × 1 070 = 6 420 ₽.
Beech
7 × 2 490 = 17 430 ₽.
Oak
7 × 3 690 = 25 830 ₽.
Comparison:
| Material | Planks | Cost of initial profiles |
|---|---|---|
| MDF | 6 | 6 420 ₽ |
| Beech | 7 | 17 430 ₽ |
| Oak | 7 | 25 830 ₽ |
Difference 'MDF → beech':
17 430 − 6 420 = 11 010 ₽.
Difference 'MDF → oak':
25 830 − 6 420 = 19 410 ₽.
This is only the cost of the profiles.
For the array, you also need to account for work on six joints, their preparation, and finishing.
Why you can't compare MLD-055 only by the price per single plank
On the product card, the buyer sees:
-
1 070 ₽;
-
2 490 ₽;
-
3 690 ₽.
One might conclude that oak is "approximately 3.4 times more expensive than MDF."
But the project requires:
6 / 7 / 7 planks.
Therefore, the real basket differs more significantly.
The correct commercial question is:
how much does it cost to finish all six verticals with the chosen material?
And only then compare the appearance, joints, and finish.
Decorative wooden moldings: where the vertical should end
The planned length of 2520 mm makes sense only after fixing the two horizontal boundaries.
At the top:
-
lower edge of the cornice;
-
hidden tuck under the cornice;
-
decorative frieze;
-
open joint.
Bottom:
-
top of the baseboard;
-
floor;
-
furniture plinth;
-
another horizontal profile.
If the overall system is not yet approved, it is useful to first look Decorative wooden moldings in the category and understand which profile actually forms the vertical.
Why 2520 mm needs to be remeasured after installing the cornice
The design height and the actual height may differ.
For example, six points give:
| Vertical | Actual length |
|---|---|
| 1 | 2517 мм |
| 2 | 2520 мм |
| 3 | 2523 мм |
| 4 | 2519 мм |
| 5 | 2521 мм |
| 6 | 2518 мм |
For MDF 2600 mm, all six values remain within one original plank.
For beech/oak, the extensions will be different:
-
117 mm;
-
120 mm;
-
123 mm;
-
119 mm;
-
121 mm;
-
118 mm.
This is another reason not to cut six identical 120 mm inserts before the control measurement.
Can all extensions be made from one seventh plank?
Yes, by net length — with a large margin.
The sum of extensions from the example:
117 + 120 + 123 + 119 + 121 + 118 = 718 mm.
Seventh plank:
2400 mm.
Nominal remainder:
1682 mm before cuts and trimming.
That is, the difference in actual heights does not change the preliminary quantity.
One additional plank is still enough.
Wooden molding MLD-055 and baseboard: where to start the vertical
The bottom joint cannot be designed separately.
Three schemes are possible.
The vertical is placed on the top surface of the baseboard
This creates a clear architectural support.
MLD-055 goes behind the baseboard
The visible length decreases, but the connection requires a cut.
The baseboard adjoins the side of the vertical
The vertical remains continuous down to the floor.
No single scheme is universal.
If the plinth is still being selected, you can to buy wooden baseboard after approval of the bottom joint of the library.
MLD-055 and the upper cornice: can it hide the joint
The possibility depends on the specific cornice.
A side cut is needed.
On it, mark:
-
library facade;
-
MLD-055 with a thickness of 18 mm;
-
cornice;
-
shelf/frieze;
-
connection point 2400+extension;
-
visible surface.
If the cornice covers the joint, the wooden option becomes much more attractive.
If the line remains open, it is worth comparing it again with solid MDF.
MLD-055 thickness 18 mm: checking doors and fittings
Width 38 mm determines the frontal proportion.
But MLD-055 protrudes by 18 mm.
On built-in furniture, you need to check:
-
the trajectory of the adjacent door;
-
hinges;
-
handle;
-
opening of upper doors;
-
cornice projection;
-
clearance to shelves;
-
adjacent decorative profile.
Do not claim that 18 mm "definitely won't interfere" until the doors are opened to the actual working angle.
Six verticals: how to maintain one level and one rhythm
Even if each length differs slightly, all six lines should be perceived as one system.
Before cutting, the following are fixed:
-
the common upper horizontal line;
-
the common lower horizontal line;
-
the front axis of MLD-055;
-
identical profile orientation;
-
the indentation from doors and shelves.
If the wooden version has extensions, all six joints are better kept on one architectural line, if the structure allows it.
Six connections at six different heights will be more noticeable.
OMLD-005 sample set: when the material needs to be seen on the object
If the debate is between MDF, beech, and oak, it is useful not to choose based on a small photo.
For the designer and the furniture workshop, it is possible order samples of wooden moldings.
At the site, they check:
-
the profile next to the facade;
-
oak next to veneer;
-
beech under an opaque finish;
-
MDF under enamel;
-
the relief under side lighting.
But the sample does not account for length. Material selection still needs to be linked to 2600/2400 mm.
General wooden trim: when MLD-055 is better replaced with another profile
If it turns out that the 18 mm protrusion interferes with doors or 38 mm is too wide for the vertical, you don't need to keep MLD-055 just because the quantity has already been calculated.
You can open the section buy wooden trim and choose a different geometry.
A new profile will require a new calculation of length and joints.
Is an eighth wooden plank needed in reserve
By length — no.
The seventh plank leaves more than 1.6 m of nominal remainder after making six extensions.
The eighth may be justified if:
-
a repair reserve from the same batch is needed;
-
the object is far away;
-
repeat delivery is expensive;
-
oak is selected by grain pattern;
-
there is a risk of damage to long molding;
-
the remainder is planned for use on another part of the library.
But mechanically adding an eighth due to a '10% reserve' is not required.
Errors when ordering MLD-055 on 2520 mm verticals
Mistake 1. Buy six oak planks
Reason: there are also six verticals.
Consequence: each is short by 120 mm.
How to avoid: count the length of material, not the number of lines.
Mistake 2. Consider seven planks a ready solution
Reason: the footage adds up.
Consequence: six open joints ruin the verticals.
How to avoid: first, the cut of the top node.
Mistake 3. Cut six identical extensions in advance
Reason: the design length is 2520 mm everywhere.
Consequence: actual heights differ.
How to avoid: measure each vertical.
Mistake 4. Choosing beech under enamel just because it's solid wood
Reason: solid wood is perceived as automatically the best material.
Consequence: the cart is more expensive and joints appear without visible benefit.
How to avoid: determine what solid wood actually provides after an opaque finish.
Mistake 5. Not checking the 18 mm protrusion
Reason: attention is focused on the length.
Consequence: conflict with the door leaf or handle.
How to avoid: dry fitting of the profile.
What to send to the STAVROS manager before ordering MLD-055
Working specification:
MLD-055 / 38×18 mm / built-in library / 6 verticals / actual lengths ___, ___, ___, ___, ___, ___ mm / option A: MDF 2600 — preliminary 6 pcs. / option B: beech or oak 2400 — preliminary 7 pcs. with six upper extensions / cornice ___ / joint location ___ / plinth ___ / finish ___.
After approval, you can order molding MLD-055 already based on a specific configuration.
When not to buy MLD-055 yet
The order is premature if:
-
2520 mm is taken only from the drawing;
-
cornice is not installed yet;
-
bottom plinth is not selected;
-
the actual bottom point of the vertical is not determined;
-
it is not decided where to hide the wooden joint;
-
MDF, beech, and oak are compared only by the price of one plank;
-
not checked protrusion 18 mm;
-
doors not adjusted yet;
-
quantity calculated only by total length.
Total: 6 MLD-055 from MDF or 7 from beech/oak
For six decorative verticals 2520 mm long:
MDF (740–760 kg/m³, emission class E1/E0) provides ideal geometry, uniformity, and better base for enamel: high adhesion, smooth surface, absence of knots and cracks.
MLD-055 has a length of 2600 mm.
One strip covers one vertical.
You need to:
6 planks.
Nominal remainder:
80 mm from each.
Cost:
6,420 ₽ at the time of check.
Beech or oak
MLD-055 has a length of 2400 mm.
Each vertical is missing:
120 mm.
Required:
-
6 main battens;
-
1 additional for extensions.
Total:
7 planks.
Cost:
-
beech — 17,430 ₽;
-
oak — 25,830 ₽.
But seven wooden battens should only be ordered after the location of six transverse joints is confirmed.
If the upper cornice architecturally hides the extensions, solid wood remains a strong option.
If the joints are exposed and the library will be painted with an opaque enamel, 6 solid MLD-055 MDF pieces at 2600 mm provide a simpler and cleaner solution.
This is exactly what needs to be decided before pressing the order button: not “MDF or wood in general,” but a solid vertical of 2520 mm or natural material with a pre-designed upper joint.

Can I buy an oak MLD-055 of 2600 mm?
In the current card, the main oak variant for this article is listed as 2400 mm long. Do not transfer the MDF length to oak.
Will one MDF plank be enough for a vertical of 2520 mm?
Yes. Nominally, 80 mm remains.
How many MDF MLD-055 are needed for six verticals?
Six strips.
How many oak MLD-055 are needed for six verticals?
Preliminarily seven: six main and one for upper extensions.
Why are six wooden planks not enough?
Each has a length of 2400 mm, while the vertical is 2520 mm. 120 mm is missing.
How to use the seventh plank?
Cut six extensions from it according to actual dimensions after a control measurement.
Where is it better to make the 2400+120 mm joint?
At the upper architectural node — for example, under a cornice or frieze — if the specific structure allows it to be visually hidden.
Can the joint be made in the middle?
Technically possible, but for a decorative vertical it is usually visually weaker. The decision must be confirmed by the furniture maker.
What to choose for enamel — MDF or beech?
If the wood texture is completely hidden, MDF 2600 mm gains a strong advantage due to its full length. However, the workshop's technology may impose other requirements.
When is the best time to order an oak molding?
When the natural wood texture is part of the library's material concept and the top joint can be properly resolved.
How far does MLD-055 protrude from the facade?
18 mm.
How do I join MLD-055 with a wooden baseboard?
You need to choose the bottom joint in advance: resting on the baseboard, going behind it, or side abutment.
How do I join a vertical molding with a cornice?
According to the side section, which shows the cornice, MLD-055, and the place for a possible top extension.
Do I need to measure all six verticals?
Yes. The actual heights after installing the cornice and baseboard may differ.
Will one additional wooden plank be enough for six extensions?
By net length — yes: six trims of about 120 mm require approximately 720 mm of material.
Is an eighth wooden plank needed?
Not automatically. It only makes sense as a deliberate reserve or material for other areas.
Where can I buy wooden molding?
In the STAVROS wooden moldings category.
Where to order MLD-055 38×18 mm?
In the MLD-055 card via the link in the article.
