The wall markings are already in place. The designer left a vertical field, the craftsman marked the axis, nearby there is furniture or a mirror, and suddenly it turns out that the liked CPU-15-1 "Pavlovsk" has a fixed dimension of 405 × 2300 × 22 mm. If this field matches the ready-made composition, the issue is easily resolved: it is simpler to take a set with an already defined logic of element placement. But if the pier is narrower, higher, lower, or simply has a different aspect ratio, a second path arises — buy NPU-408, NPU-409, and MLD-003-MG separately and build your own layout.
On paper, the second option seems almost the same: the same article numbers, the same motif, only the wall dimensions are set by the buyer. In practice, there is a trap here. NPU-408 and NPU-409 are sold in two sizes, and to replicate the scale of the ready-made CPU-15-1, you need not the first, more compact versions, but the large ones. For NPU-408, this is 406 × 228 × 19 mm, for NPU-409 — 406 × 298 × 22 mm. The small variants — 210 × 137 × 15 mm and 211 × 158 × 17 mm respectively — will create a completely different composition.
There is another nuance worth noticing before ordering. In the CPU-15-1 card, the overall dimension is listed as 405 × 2300 × 22 mm, while the large NPU-408 and NPU-409 have size A of 406 mm. Therefore, during self-assembly, you cannot simply take the 405 mm figure from the ready-made set and consider it the exact width of each individual element. For your wall, you need to check the drawings, the actual orientation of the parts, and make a full-size layout. This does not prevent using the same decorative motifs, but it protects against the mistake "article numbers match — so the geometry will automatically match to the millimeter."
If the ready-made proportion fits, you can buy the set of stucco decor CPU-15-1 "Pavlovsk" and work with a predefined format. If not, separate NPU-408, NPU-409, and molding allow creating a composition for a specific wall segment, but this is no longer a reduced or stretched CPU-15-1, but a new layout based on the same elements.
Ready-made CPU-15-1 and assembly from parts solve different tasks
The main mistake is to consider the two options fully interchangeable.
Ready-made CPU-15-1 is needed by a buyer who suits the predefined scale: a narrow vertical composition 2300 mm high and about 405 mm wide. In this case, there is no need to re-decide how far apart to place the top and bottom ornaments, what height to give the molding part, and how to assemble the overall vertical.
Separate elements are needed by those for whom the original wall geometry is more important than the dimensions of the ready-made set.
For example:
-
the niche is already marked for 500 mm;
-
the wall segment is lower than 2300 mm;
-
the decorative vertical should end above the baseboard or furniture;
-
NPU-408 is needed only at the top, and NPU-409 only at the bottom;
-
one motif is repeated on several walls;
-
The designer has already drawn their own molding system;
-
It is necessary to preserve the Pavlovsk ornament, but change the distance between decorative elements.
Self-assembly gives freedom. Along with it, the buyer gets responsibility for proportions.
What exactly is confirmed for CPU-15-1, NPU-408, NPU-409, and MLD-003-MG
Before choosing, it is useful to sort products not by beautiful photos, but by sizes and materials.
| Element | Confirmed Size | Material | Role in the task |
|---|---|---|---|
| CPU-15-1 "Pavlovsk" | 405 × 2300 × 22 mm | Polyurethane / primed MDF | Ready vertical composition |
| NPU-408, small version | 210 × 137 × 15 mm | Polyurethane | Compact version of a separate overlay |
| NPU-408, large version | 406 × 228 × 19 mm | Polyurethane | This exact size is specified in the composition of CPU-15-1 |
| NPU-409, small version | 211 × 158 × 17 mm | Polyurethane | Compact version of a separate overlay |
| NPU-409, large version | 406 × 298 × 22 mm | Polyurethane | This exact size is specified in the composition of CPU-15-1 |
| MLD-003-MG | 35 × 12 × 2600 mm | Primed MDF | Linear element of composition |
This table immediately answers half of the questions.
If the goal is to reproduce the scale of the ornamental elements of CPU-15-1, you should focus on the large NPU-408 and NPU-409. If the task is different and a more compact decor is needed on the wall, the small versions can be an independent choice, but the result will already differ from the proportions of the finished "Pavlovsk".

The most expensive mistake here starts with the "add to cart" button
The buyer sees the NPU-408 card. In the specifications, the version 210 × 137 × 15 mm is shown first. The article number is correct: NPU-408. The name is correct. The material is correct. It seems that this is exactly what needs to be added.
But CPU-15-1 uses the large variant 406 × 228 × 19 mm.
The same happens with NPU-409: the card contains the small size 211 × 158 × 17 mm and the large one 406 × 298 × 22 mm.
If the task is formulated as "I want to assemble the same motif as in CPU-15-1, but for my wall," it is not enough to write two article numbers in the specification. You need article numbers and sizes.

What a safe order line should look like
Not like this:
NPU-408 — 1 pc.
But like this:
NPU-408 — 406 × 228 × 19 mm — polyurethane — required quantity.
For the second element:
NPU-409 — 406 × 298 × 22 mm — polyurethane — required quantity.
Such a notation almost eliminates accidental replacement with a smaller modification.
If you need the large version specifically, you can order NPU-408 with dimensions 406 × 228 mm and separately order NPU-409 with dimensions 406 × 298 mm, after first checking the selected modifications in the product cards.
Why the 210-mm NPU-408 is not “just a reduced part for a narrow wall”
Geometrically, it is smaller, and that is obvious.
But from a design perspective, something else matters more: along with the reduction, the ratio of decor to molding changes.
MLD-003-MG has a profile of 35 × 12 mm. Next to the large NPU-408 with a width of 406 mm, it is perceived as a linear part of a large wall composition. Next to the 210-mm overlay, the same profile occupies a much more significant share of the width.
In other words, you cannot take a ready-made CPU-15-1 and reduce only the NPU, leaving everything else unchanged, and then expect an identical visual result.
This will already be a new project.
The same applies to NPU-409.
The large NPU-409 is 406 × 298 × 22 mm.
The small one is 211 × 158 × 17 mm.
The difference is almost twofold in the main dimension. Not only the width decreases, but also the height and the depth of the relief.
Therefore, the small NPU-408 and NPU-409 can be useful for compact frames, furniture, or small wall fields, but they cannot be discreetly substituted with large ones if the buyer wants to preserve the character of CPU-15-1.
CPU-15-1: when a ready-made kit is truly more rational
Not all freedom is useful.
If the wall section already fits the 405 × 2300 mm format, self-assembly can only add extra work.
A ready-made kit is especially rational in four cases.
The layout almost matches 405 × 2300 mm
There is no point in redesigning what already exists in a ready-made system.
You check the free space, baseboard, cornice, outlets, furniture — and if the dimensions really work, you choose a ready-made CPU.
Repeatability is needed across several identical wall sections
Two or four identical sets give a clear repetition.
With self-assembly, you will have to separately record the coordinates of each NPU and the lengths of all molding segments.
The designer has already approved CPU-15-1 specifically.
If the visualization has an approved finished composition, switching to individual parts without reworking the drawing is risky. Even with the same article numbers, changing distances can alter the character of the wall.
No desire to calculate decorative geometry.
That's a valid reason.
A ready-made set is purchased not because a person 'can't calculate,' but because their task is to get a specific composition, not to redesign it from scratch.
In such a scenario, ordering CPU-15-1 for the wall is simpler than translating a ready-made idea back into a set of individual parts.
When individual NPU-408 and NPU-409 provide a real advantage
A self-assembled set is worth considering when the ready-made size doesn't match the task, but the pattern itself is appealing.
Here, space for design already appears.
Wall below 2300 mm
Suppose the free decorative height after the baseboard, ceiling cornice, and furniture is 2050 mm.
The finished CPU-15-1 with a height of 2300 mm does not fit.
Individual NPUs can be placed closer to each other and the lengths of moldings can be redefined.
But you cannot simply "cut 250 mm off the CPU." You need to check which linear parts allow changes and how the new distances affect the proportion.
Wall above
With a free height of 2600–2800 mm, the finished CPU may look too short if the designer intended almost full verticality.
Individual elements allow increasing the gap between the upper and lower decor and making the molding part longer.
At the same time, the NPUs themselves do not stretch. Their size remains fixed.
The pier is wider than 405 mm
Here, you can keep the large NPUs at their original scale and make the free space around them wider.
You can also change the molding frame if the project provides for it.
But you should not automatically stretch horizontal connections if it is not clear how they are arranged in the original set.
Only one decorative accent is needed
Sometimes the buyer likes the top NPU-408, but the bottom element is not needed.
Or vice versa.
In this case, buying separately is much more logical than a ready-made set, especially if the wall already has its own frame.
Your own size is not scaling the polyurethane, but changing the distances
This is a principle worth remembering.
NPU-408 does not become wider.
NPU-409 does not become lower.
The relief does not stretch.
Changes:
-
position on the wall;
-
distance between elements;
-
length of moldings;
-
sizes of free margins;
-
height of the entire system;
-
sometimes the number of repetitions.
Therefore, the phrase "assemble Pavlovsk to fit 500 × 2100 mm" requires clarification. You can create a composition based on elements of "Pavlovsk" for a field of 500 × 2100 mm, but this does not mean that the finished CPU-15-1 simply scaled down proportionally.
First, measure not the wall, but the free decorative field.
The full wall can be 3.5 m wide.
But there is a wardrobe nearby.
There is a doorway on the left.
There is a high baseboard at the bottom.
There is a cornice at the top.
In the center, there is a switch.
The useful space for the composition becomes much smaller.
Before choosing CPU-15-1 or individual elements, take four groups of measurements.
Width
Measure the distance between the nearest visual or physical boundaries.
For a narrow wall section, these can be two trim pieces.
For the area near the mirror, it's the edge of the mirror and the corner of the wall.
Height
Not from floor to ceiling, but from the lower line where the decor actually begins to the upper line.
If the baseboard is 120 mm high and the cornice above takes another 100 mm, these zones cannot be ignored.
Axis
Mark the center of the free field.
CPU-15-1 is a vertical composition, and random displacement is especially noticeable.
Obstacles
Sockets, sconces, switches, furniture fronts, cornices, trim.
If an obstacle falls into the future molding, the composition must be changed before ordering.
Checking CPU-15-1 on the wall takes one full-size template
Before arguing whether 405 × 2300 mm fits, make a paper or painter's tape outline.
Beat:
-
width 405 mm;
-
height 2300 mm;
-
central axis.
Look at the wall from a real viewpoint.
If the dimension naturally fits into the wall opening, the finished set gains a strong advantage.
If the frame hits the baseboard, cornice, or furniture, switch to a custom scheme.
Individual elements also need to be tried on at full scale.
For the large NPU-408, cut out a rectangle of 406 × 228 mm.
For NPU-409 — 406 × 298 mm.
This won't replace the actual ornament outline, but it will show the scale.
Then you can move the two templates along the wall until the correct distance between them appears.
And here the difference from CPU-15-1 will become apparent.
In the ready-made set, the proportions are already defined.
For individual elements, you choose the gap between the top and bottom yourself.
Too small a gap will make the wall look dense.
Too large a gap will break the elements into two unrelated decorations.
Need a molding line that will unite them into a system.
MLD-003-MG is not polyurethane, and this must be taken into account in DIY assembly.
This is one of the most useful facts in the article.
NPU-408 and NPU-409 are made of polyurethane.
MLD-003-MG is primed MDF measuring 35 × 12 × 2600 mm.
Therefore, the finished CPU-15-1 and the standalone version combine different materials.
This is not a problem in itself: they are used in one system. But during DIY assembly, the buyer must understand in advance that:
-
materials are cut differently;
-
the mounting base needs to be prepared;
-
compositions are selected taking into account the specific pair of materials;
-
The finish should merge polyurethane and primed MDF into one visual surface.
If you need exactly this linear part, you can buy the MLD-003-MG molding and then calculate the required length according to your scheme.
Why the 2600 mm length of MLD-003-MG matters when changing the height
CPU-15-1 has a height of 2300 mm.
The MLD-003-MG molding is 2600 mm.
This provides space for trimming the linear element at the finished height.
If you are assembling a composition for a height of 2500 mm, one strip in length may still be enough for a specific vertical section if its finished length fits within 2600 mm.
If the own vertical must be 2700–2800 mm, a longitudinal joint appears or a different scheme is needed.
That is, the freedom of individual parts is limited by the nominal dimensions of each workpiece.
Do not count the number of MLD-003-MG by the height of the CPU
A custom composition can use:
-
one central line;
-
two parallel verticals;
-
a frame;
-
top and bottom crossbars;
-
several separate fields.
Therefore, the formula "wall height / 2600" says nothing about the number of slats until there is a drawing.
First, a list of all linear sections.
Then the cutting map.
Ready CPU or parts separately: comparison without advertising simplifications
| Criterion | CPU-15-1 entirely | NPU-408 + NPU-409 + MLD-003-MG separately |
| General format | Specified: 405 × 2300 × 22 mm | Determined by the project |
| Proportions | Already specified by the ready system | Buyer/designer specifies anew |
| Size of NPU-408 | In the composition, 406 × 228 × 19 mm is indicated | You can choose a small or large size |
| NPU-409 size | The composition specifies 406 × 298 × 22 mm | You can choose a small or large size |
| Linear element | MLD-003-MG | MLD-003-MG can be purchased separately |
| Materials | Polyurethane + primed MDF | The same materials if the same item numbers are used |
| Possibility to change height | Limited by the finished format | Height can be designed through distances and lengths of molding |
| Risk of confusing the sizes | Below | High, if the order specifies only the NPU article |
| Markup requirements | Check the space for the finished dimension | Fully build custom geometry |
| Suitable for a series of identical panels | Yes, if the format fits | Yes, but a working template is needed |
| Decision speed | Higher | Below |
| Composition freedom | Limited | High |
This table has no winner.
CPU-15-1 is better where exactly CPU-15-1 is needed.
Individual elements are better where the wall requires its own size.
A field 350 mm wide: large NPUs already raise the question sharply.
The large NPU-408 has size A of 406 mm.
NPU-409 is also 406 mm.
If the available field is only 350 mm, a simple frontal layout of the large version does not fit this size.
So, there are three ways:
-
reconsider the boundaries of the decorative field;
-
use small variants;
-
choose another decor.
You cannot try to "compress" a 406-millimeter overlay.
A field of about 405–410 mm: you need a drawing, not arithmetic by eye.
This is where the difference between the overall size of CPU-15-1 at 405 mm and the size of large NPUs at 406 mm is especially interesting.
If the partition has exactly 405–410 mm of clear space, you cannot claim that everything will definitely fit based only on one line of the card.
You need to:
-
check the NPU drawing;
-
understand the orientation of size A;
-
see the actual outline, not just the bounding rectangle;
-
check the finished CPU according to its diagram;
-
make a template.
This is more honest than promising tight compatibility.
Field 500–600 mm: a standalone composition gets breathing room
Large NPUs with a width of 406 mm no longer fill the entire width.
You can leave side margins.
You can change the position of the moldings.
You can build a wider frame.
But the more free space there is, the more important it is not to lose the connection between the ornament and the linear part.
If the molding goes too far from the NPU, the decor starts to look randomly inserted.
A wide wall of 800–1000 mm: the question may no longer be about CPU-15-1
On such a field, a single narrow "Pavlovsk" can become a side element rather than the center.
You can use:
-
two vertical motifs;
-
one independent frame;
-
CPU-15-2 from the same collection;
-
an individual composition.
But this article does not compare CPU-15-1 with CPU-15-2 — there is already a separate piece for that.
The conclusion here is different: the further your layout deviates from 405 mm, the less sense it makes to try to present a self-assembly as an exact copy of CPU-15-1.
Height 2000–2100 mm: reduce the gaps, not the overlays themselves
Large NPUs retain their sizes.
To make the composition lower, the following is reduced:
-
distance between elements;
-
length of linear parts;
-
upper and lower free sections.
At some point, the vertical will become too dense.
Then it's better to try small NPUs or another system.
Height 2300 mm: the ready-made set gets the maximum advantage
If the height matches and the width fits, why search for proportions anew?
It is precisely with such a match that CPU-15-1 is most rational.
Self-assembly is needed only if there is another reason: a different molding pattern, an incomplete set of elements, repetition of individual motifs, or a special design idea.
Height 2500–2600 mm: individual elements provide reasonable freedom
The additional 200–300 mm can be distributed in the gaps.
The composition becomes more elongated.
But before ordering, you need to check what actual length of MLD-003-MG will be required on each line.
One strip is 2600 mm.
The "flush" layout should not forget about the final trimming.
Height over 2600 mm: a separate task for molding joints begins.
NPU is still not a problem.
The linear part becomes the problem.
If one continuous section of MLD-003-MG must be longer than 2600 mm, you will have to plan a joint.
In this situation, a self-made composition may require more installation than the ready-made CPU-15-1.
Large NPU or small: do not choose only by wall width
Let's say the field is 500 mm.
Both versions can physically be considered.
Large NPUs will take up a significant portion of the width.
Small ones will leave much more empty space.
But the choice depends on:
-
the height of the wall;
-
the width of the molding;
-
the distance to the furniture;
-
the number of repetitions;
-
the character of the room.
In a small hallway, a large relief may be too active.
On a tall living room wall, a small element may get lost.
Two size pairs give four possible mistakes
NPU-408:
-
210 × 137 × 15;
-
406 × 228 × 19.
NPU-409:
-
211 × 158 × 17;
-
406 × 298 × 22.
The buyer may accidentally take:
-
both small;
-
both large;
-
large NPU-408 and small NPU-409;
-
small NPU-408 and large NPU-409.
The third and fourth options are especially dangerous: the article numbers are formally correct, but the scale of the top and bottom decor diverges.
Therefore, in one composition, the size pair must be deliberate.
Is it possible to deliberately mix a large NPU-408 and a small NPU-409?
You can design anything that works visually and technically, but it is no longer a replica of "Pavlovsk".
If the designer deliberately creates an asymmetry of scale, the dimensions are fixed on the drawing.
If such a solution does not exist, mixing sizes rather indicates an ordering error.
First, order one control set for a complex series
If you need to arrange ten identical partitions, the risk of error multiplies by ten.
Rational approach:
-
approve one full-size mock-up;
-
check the selected NPU dimensions;
-
determine the lengths of MLD-003-MG;
-
assemble the first composition;
-
evaluate it with real furniture and lighting;
-
only then replicate.
The series loves templates.
What exactly can be changed in the standalone version
Assembly freedom is often overrated. Therefore, let's divide the parameters.
Can be changed
-
overall composition height;
-
distance between NPU-408 and NPU-409;
-
side margins;
-
installation height;
-
number of repetitions;
-
length of MLD-003-MG;
-
frame configuration;
-
use of only one of the two decorative elements.
Cannot be considered modifiable without separate manufacturing
-
size of finished NPU-408;
-
size of finished NPU-409;
-
depth of their relief;
-
profile MLD-003-MG;
-
length of standard strip exceeding 2600 mm;
-
material of the specific article.
It is this boundary that separates real customization from fantasy.
Polyurethane and primed MDF should become one whole after finishing.
In the finished composition, the materials are already selected as a system.
When assembling separately, the buyer's task is not to lose this unity.
Polyurethane decorative overlay and MDF molding differ in base, but after quality preparation and coordinated painting, they should be perceived as one architectural line.
Before finishing, it is useful to check:
-
whether the joints are prepared equally;
-
whether different material transitions are visible;
-
are there no steps;
-
whether the primer/paint is coordinated;
-
is there no different surface texture.
Don't promise yourself that a thick layer of paint will hide mistakes
Paint unifies color.
It doesn't fix a crooked molding.
It doesn't fix an incorrect NPU.
It doesn't make 210 mm equal to 406.
It doesn't remove a shifted axis.
Therefore, the quality of a self-made composition is born at the layout stage.
The 35 × 12 mm molding sets the character of the entire vertical line.
MLD-003-MG is noticeable enough that its position should be changed carefully.
If in the finished CPU the distances are calculated for one system, in your version the frame width should correlate with the 35 mm profile.
A field that is too narrow can be almost "eaten up" by the molding.
One that is too wide can make the profile visually weak relative to the entire surface.
When instead of MLD-003-MG it is worth looking at other moldings
If the buyer likes NPU-408 and NPU-409, but the linear profile 35 × 12 mm seems too large or the MDF material does not suit the project task, you can compare Moldings made of polyurethane.
But after replacing the molding, the composition needs to be designed anew.
You cannot consider any profile functionally and visually equal to MLD-003-MG just because it is in the same category.
Self-assembly is especially good when the molding grid already exists
Imagine a wall where the frames are already marked out.
The top frame is 700 × 1100 mm.
The bottom one is 700 × 600 mm.
The designer wants to add the "Pavlovsk" ornament only to the central part.
Buying a ready-made CPU-15-1 would force reworking the entire geometry.
Individual NPUs allow embedding the motif into the existing grid.
This is a strong scenario for piece-by-piece purchase.
A ready-made kit wins when the walls are not yet marked out.
The opposite situation: the room is empty, dimensions are free, and the wall architecture needs to be determined quickly.
Then CPU-15-1 becomes not an element that is forced into someone else's layout, but the initial module.
First, the finished composition is placed.
Then furniture, sconces, mirrors, and adjacent fields are designed relative to it.
This is much simpler.
What to do if the markup width is exactly 405 mm
Do not order automatically.
First compare:
-
CPU-15-1 dimension is 405 mm;
-
Large NPU dimension is 406 mm;
-
actual contour;
-
direction of dimension A;
-
Mounting allowance;
-
adjacent elements.
A difference of 1 mm may be a feature of cards, rounding, or the composition scheme, but the buyer should not have to guess the reason.
Need drawing verification or consultation.
What to do if the width is 450 mm
There is already a small side margin relative to large NPUs.
You can try the ready-made CPU-15-1 if 405 mm matches the overall composition.
You can build your own.
The solution will depend on the height.
What to do if the width is 550 mm and the height is 2100 mm
The finished CPU does not fit in height.
Large NPUs fit within the overall field by width.
So, a standalone version seems logical.
But we need to reduce the distance between decorative blocks and recalculate MLD-003-MG.
What to do if the width is 350 mm and the height is 2300 mm
The height of the finished CPU is suitable.
The width does not.
Large NPUs by dimension A are also larger than the field.
Here it is more reasonable to consider small versions or different decor, rather than trying to keep the large "Pavlovsk".
What to do if the width is 900 mm
There is no need to stretch CPU-15-1 almost twice.
Allowed:
-
leave it as a narrow central vertical;
-
use two motifs;
-
switch to another ready-made system;
-
build a wide frame with large NPUs.
But this is already an independent solution.
Composition above the console: consider the furniture, not just the wall
If there is a console 850 mm high under the decor, the lower point of the composition is not determined by the floor.
You need to leave a meaningful distance above the tabletop.
Otherwise, NPU-409 will be too close to the furniture.
With a ready-made CPU, this can raise the entire set higher.
In your own version, you can reduce the lower molding part.
Next to the mirror: CPU-15-1 is convenient to use in pairs
A narrow vertical system is suitable for symmetrical framing.
If the wall size allows, two ready-made CPUs provide a quick rhythm.
If the mirror has a non-standard height, individual elements allow aligning the top and bottom with its edges.
On the sides of the fireplace: the central axis matters more than the size of the wall section
The fireplace itself sets a strong geometry.
The two compositions must be mirror-aligned in terms of distances.
If one side wall segment is narrower than the other, ready-made CPUs can emphasize the asymmetry.
Individual layout sometimes allows for a softer alignment of visual balance.
But the NPU sizes remain the same.
In the bedroom: connection with the width of the headboard
Behind the bed, decorative verticals often work in pairs.
A ready-made CPU is convenient when the wall sections on the sides of the headboard are symmetrical.
If the bed is offset or the nightstands are of different widths, piece-by-piece layout offers more possibilities.
In the hallway: the main constraint is narrow wall sections
Here, the small NPU-408 and NPU-409 may be much more appropriate than the large ones.
But if small versions are chosen, one should not continue to call the result CPU-15-1.
This is an independent composition inspired by the same elements.
In commercial interiors: repeatability is key
A salon, hotel, restaurant, or showroom can have dozens of identical fields.
A ready-made kit wins with speed of replication.
A piece-by-piece set wins if the architecture of the object is already defined and the dimensions of repeating niches differ from CPU-15-1.
In both cases, one control node is assembled first.
Polyurethane products in one system do not mean that all parts are polyurethane.
A request for a polyurethane product refers to a large section of molded decor, but CPU-15-1 is a good example of a mixed system.
NPU — polyurethane.
MLD-003-MG is primed MDF.
Therefore, when purchasing, the word "material" cannot be replaced with one general line.
If you need to view a broader catalog and to buy molding, the material is still checked in each card separately.
Polyurethane decor and a finished composition are not the same thing.
Separate Polyurethane Decor — these are elements from which you can build your own schemes.
CPU-15-1 is already a system.
The difference is similar to the difference between a set of parts and a finished assembly.
Both approaches are correct, but for different buyers.
When it is useful to look at general wall decor
If after trying it becomes clear that neither CPU-15-1 nor your own combination of NPU-408/NPU-409 fits, it is better not to continue with compromises.
In the section Polyurethane wall decor there are other ready-made compositions.
This is more reasonable than trying to rework one chosen set at any cost.
Buying NPU separately only makes sense with the exact size in the specification
For NPU-408, the correct commercial wording should include modification.
If you need an element from the composition of "Pavlovsk", you can buy NPU-408 polyurethane molding, but be sure to choose the 406 × 228 × 19 mm option.
For NPU-409, similarly: buy NPU-409 from polyurethane you need to check the size 406 × 298 × 22 mm, if the goal is the large scale of CPU-15-1.
How many individual elements to buy
The quantity depends on the scheme.
For one vertical composition, one NPU-408 and one NPU-409 may be needed, if that is what the project specifies.
For a pair of piers, the quantity doubles.
For a repeating wall, it is calculated for each decorative point.
But you cannot automatically transfer the composition of a ready-made CPU to any independent structure.
First, the drawing.
Then the quantity.
How to calculate molding separately
Make a list of all straight sections.
For example:
-
left vertical — 1800 mm;
-
right vertical — 1800 mm;
-
top — 500 mm;
-
bottom — 500 mm.
Total finished length:
1800 + 1800 + 500 + 500 = 4600 mm.
One MLD-003-MG plank is 2600 mm.
Two give 5200 mm.
By total length, two are enough, but we need to check how exactly the four segments are laid out across two planks and how much the cuts will take.
This is already a cutting map.
Why a finished CPU cannot be compared with the sum of prices of three cards without the composition
The buyer sometimes calculates:
price of NPU-408 + price of NPU-409 + price of one molding = price of the self-assembled version.
But this may be incorrect.
For your geometry, more than one MLD-003-MG strip may be needed.
Additional linear segments may be needed.
The number of elements may differ.
Plus, the standalone version requires separate marking.
Costs should be compared based on the final specification, not on three names.
What to buy together: a kit for two different paths
| Scenario | Main purchase | What to add | What to check |
| The ready-made composition is suitable | CPU-15-1 | Mounting materials for the selected system | Field 405 × 2300 mm and base |
| Custom composition with large ornament | NPU-408 406 × 228 × 19 + NPU-409 406 × 298 × 22 | MLD-003-MG by calculation | Drawing, quantity, lengths |
| Compact composition | Small NPU-408/NPU-409 | Suitable molding per project | Do not pass it off as CPU-15-1 |
| Custom frame system | NPU by selected scale | Linear and additional elements | Size compatibility |
| Complex wall with multiple frames | Multiple NPUs | Molding according to cutting map | Repeatability and total footage |
| Installation of finished polyurethane elements | Selected decor | Mounting compound | Compatibility with the base |
If you need to separately figure out which molded decoration adhesive to use, the composition is chosen after checking materials and wall condition, not just by the word "stucco".
Decorative polyurethane elements are useful as an alternative, not as a random addition
When assembling on your own, it's easy to get carried away: add more corners, overlays, a rosette, a second molding.
This way, the composition quickly loses clarity.
If you need to compare decorative polyurethane elements, use them as conscious alternatives or pre-designed additions.
Do not add decor just because there is empty space left inside the frame.
Do not substitute MLD-003-MG with a random polyurethane molding
Semantically, the query "buy polyurethane wall moldings" is very close to the topic, but MLD-003-MG itself is made of MDF.
If the project requires exactly the original CPU-15-1 combination, the molding material matters.
View and polyurethane molding and buy alternative elements, first save the dimensions of your free field. Then the catalog will be filtered by the real task, not just by appearance.
Why the query "buy molded decor" should end with a size
The user comes with a general idea: Buy Molded Decoration.
But then a good choice becomes very specific:
-
210 or 406 mm;
-
211 or 406 mm;
-
2300 mm of the finished system or your own height;
-
MDF molding or another profile;
-
one set or several parts.
SEO brings a person to the catalog.
Size brings them to the right product.
Three levels of similarity: replicate CPU-15-1, keep the motif, or only take individual elements
The phrase "assemble Pavlovsk piece by piece" can mean three completely different tasks. Until they are separated, the buyer risks discussing one thing with the designer and putting another in the cart.
The first level is to preserve the finished look of CPU-15-1 as much as possible. This requires large NPU-408 and NPU-409, the original MLD-003-MG, and a layout that follows the geometry of the finished set. Buying parts independently in this scenario does not give the right to arbitrarily change everything: the more distances and molding lines change, the further the result moves away from CPU-15-1.
The second level is to preserve the "Pavlovsk" motif but adapt it to your own wall. This is the most interesting option for an already marked-out wall section. The large NPUs remain recognizable decorative accents, but the height, side margins, and molding lengths are set anew. As a result, the wall is recognizably linked to the original collection, yet has its own proportion.
The third level is to use only individual items as standalone decor. For example, place the small NPU-408 in a compact frame and not use NPU-409 at all. Here, there is no point in demanding similarity to CPU-15-1. The buyer simply chooses the stucco decor they like and builds a new composition.
This classification is useful before ordering because each level requires its own shopping list.
| Task | NPU-408 | NPU-409 | MLD-003-MG | What to check especially carefully |
| Replicate the scale of CPU-15-1 | 406 × 228 × 19 mm | 406 × 298 × 22 mm | Original profile | Drawing, relative position, overall dimensions |
| Adapt the motif to the wall | More often the large version, if the original scale is needed | More often the large version | According to the new cutting layout | New distances and total height |
| Create a compact version | Possible 210 × 137 × 15 mm | Possible 211 × 158 × 17 mm | Selected per project | Ratio of small decor to molding |
| Use one motif | Any confirmed size | Optional | As needed | Composition independence |
The more precisely the task is formulated, the fewer random items will appear in the order.
Project card before purchase: one sheet that connects the wall and the cart
Before placing an order, it is useful to make a simple project card. Not a designer album or a complex working drawing, but one sheet with key parameters.
At the top, write down the dimensions of the free field. Below — the chosen path: ready-made CPU-15-1 or self-assembly. After that, list each purchased item with its full size.
Example for a ready-made option:
Wall A, wall section by the mirror. Free field 520 × 2450 mm. CPU-15-1 — 405 × 2300 × 22 mm. Axis centered on the wall section. Check top and bottom clearance.
Example for the individual variant:
Wall B, niche 550 × 2150 mm. NPU-408 — 406 × 228 × 19 mm. NPU-409 — 406 × 298 × 22 mm. MLD-003-MG — 35 × 12 × 2600 mm, quantity after the cutting map. Total composition height per the working sketch — 2050 mm.
Such a sheet solves several tasks at once. The buyer sees why the large version of NPU was chosen. The craftsman understands which size cannot be replaced. It is easier for the manager to check the set. The designer can more easily notice a discrepancy before installation.
Do not write "large NPU" in the project
In a month, no one will remember which of the two was considered big.
Write the numbers.
For NPU-408 — 406 × 228 × 19 mm.
For NPU-409 — 406 × 298 × 22 mm.
If small versions are chosen, record them just as precisely.
Add a photo of the wall with dimension arrows
It does not replace the drawing, but it shows the context: mirror, furniture, doors, wall sconces. Often it is from the photo that it becomes clear that a technically suitable size is visually too dense.
Mark the clear field line
If a baseboard, cornice, or furniture limits the composition, indicate not only the room height but also the actual range in which decor can be placed. This is especially important when comparing with CPU-15-1 with a height of 2300 mm.
Four real ordering scenarios and how they end
Let's imagine four buyers. All liked 'Pavlovsk', but the walls are different.
A wall section 470 × 2450 mm between two doors
The free width is more than 405 mm, and the height is more than 2300 mm. The finished CPU-15-1 seems like a logical starting point. There remain side and vertical margins that can be checked with a template.
If the finished composition suits you, self-assembly does not provide an obvious advantage. It only adds a separate calculation for the molding and the risk of mixing up the NPU.
A niche 560 × 2050 mm above low furniture
The finished CPU does not fit in height. Large NPUs can be considered by width. Here, a separate purchase is justified: the ornament is preserved, and the distances are rearranged.
But it is in this scenario that you cannot use the ready-made 2300 mm as a proportional template. You need to re-find the position of the upper NPU, lower NPU, and intermediate lines.
Narrow wall segment 330 × 2200 mm
Large NPUs with size A of 406 mm do not fit the available width. Smaller versions become more logical.
If the buyer insists on the exact scale of CPU-15-1, this wall segment is not suitable. If only the ornamental motif matters, a compact interpretation can work well.
This is a good example of how the same product card gives two different answers depending on the goal.
Wall 1100 × 2700 mm next to the fireplace
The ready-made CPU-15-1 will fit, but it may be too narrow as the sole element of a large surface. You can place two ready-made sets symmetrically, use one as a side accent, or assemble your own wide system.
With a custom version, the question is no longer whether the NPUs will fit, but rather the overall architecture: how many verticals, what frame width, how to distribute the molding, and where the center will be.
In other words, a wide wall shifts the buyer from product selection to design.
Comparison by labor costs: where the buyer actually saves time
The ready-made kit saves time not only on searching for part numbers.
It reduces the number of decisions.
For CPU-15-1, you need to decide:
-
does 405 × 2300 mm fit;
-
where the axis is located;
-
how to prepare the base;
-
how to perform installation and finishing.
When assembling yourself, the following are added:
-
size NPU-408;
-
size of NPU-409;
-
the distance between them;
-
height of the entire composition;
-
length of the molding;
-
cutting layout for MLD-003-MG;
-
number of slats;
-
position of joints;
-
repeatability check, if there are several panels.
Therefore, a custom version becomes rational when this extra work buys real benefit: precise fit into a niche, non-standard height, existing grid, or special composition.
If there is no extra benefit, a ready-made CPU is usually more logical.
Cost of custom assembly: you need to calculate not the article, but the finished unit
Current prices change, so the article should not base the choice on a fixed amount. Much more important is the calculation principle.
For CPU-15-1, the price refers to a ready-made product set with a specific composition and format.
For the custom version, the budget is based on the actual quantity:
-
NPU-408 of the selected size;
-
NPU-409 of the selected size;
-
MLD-003-MG according to the cutting map;
-
installation and finishing materials that the project actually needs.
If there is one wall and few linear sections, the separate version may have one cost structure. If there are five frames and each molding requires trimming, it is a completely different one.
Therefore, the question "what is cheaper?" should only be asked after the question "what exactly are we building?".
Do not compare a ready-made set with a single molding strip
A standalone composition may require two or more strips depending on the number of lines. The price of one MLD-003-MG does not describe the cost of the entire molding part.
Do not compare large and small NPUs only by price
A smaller part is cheaper not because it is a cost-effective replacement for a larger one. It solves a different scale of task. If the composition has to be redone after purchasing a small NPU, there is no savings.
What to check in the store right before paying
It's better to do the final check not from memory, but using two columns.
CPU-15-1:
-
SKU CPU-15-1;
-
collection "Pavlovsk";
-
dimensions 405 × 2300 × 22 mm;
-
card contents;
-
materials;
-
matching the marked field.
Standalone kit:
-
NPU-408 — the required size row;
-
NPU-409 — required size line;
-
MLD-003-MG — 35 × 12 × 2600 mm;
-
number of each item;
-
cutting map;
-
mounting materials;
-
approved wall layout.
If the cart only contains “NPU-408” and “NPU-409”, the check is not yet complete.
If the dimensions are specified and match the project, the risk of error is significantly reduced.
FAQ: CPU-15-1 or NPU-408 + NPU-409 separately
What is the size of the finished CPU-15-1 "Pavlovsk"?
405 × 2300 × 22 mm.
Which NPU-408 is used in CPU-15-1?
Large version 406 × 228 × 19 mm.
Which NPU-409 is used in CPU-15-1?
Large version 406 × 298 × 22 mm.
Is there a smaller size of NPU-408?
Yes. 210 × 137 × 15 mm.
Is there a smaller version of NPU-409?
Yes. 211 × 158 × 17 mm.
Can I buy small NPUs and get the same CPU-15-1?
No. The scale of decorative elements will be different.
Why is the CPU-15-1 listed as 405 mm wide, while large NPUs are 406 mm?
The cards do show such nominal values. For self-assembly, you don't need to guess the reason for the difference; you should check the drawings and the actual layout.
What material are the NPU-408 and NPU-409 made of?
made of polyurethane.
What material is the MLD-003-MG made of?
Primed MDF.
What is the size of the MLD-003-MG?
35 × 12 × 2600 mm.
Can the CPU-15-1 be reduced to fit a 2100 mm wall?
The ready-made set has a fixed size. For a different height, it is more rational to design a separate composition from elements.
Can a composition be made taller than 2300 mm?
Yes, if you assemble it yourself and recalculate the distances and molding lines. The dimensions of the NPU elements themselves do not change.
How to choose between the large and small NPU-408?
First, measure the free space and make a full-size template. If the goal is to preserve the scale of CPU-15-1, the large version is needed.
How to choose the size of NPU-409?
By the same logic: for the scale of CPU-15-1, use 406 × 298 × 22 mm; for a compact standalone composition, the small variant can be considered.
Can the large NPU-408 and small NPU-409 be mixed?
Technically, it is possible to design a new composition, but this is no longer a repetition of the finished "Pavlovsk". Without a special concept, mixing sizes is better considered an error.
What is cheaper: CPU-15-1 or parts separately?
It is impossible to answer without a specification of the independent version. You need to know the number of NPU and the consumption of MLD-003-MG; current prices are checked in the product cards.
How much molding will be needed for self-assembly?
It depends on all the straight lines of your composition. First, a list of segments is compiled, then a cutting map based on 2600 mm planks.
Can MLD-003-MG be replaced with a polyurethane molding?
You can create a different system if the selected profile fits in size and style, but this changes the original composition and requires new layout.
Do I need to make a template before ordering?
Yes, especially for non-standard fields. For large NPU, full-size rectangles 406 × 228 and 406 × 298 mm quickly show the scale.
What is better for four identical pilasters?
If a ready-made size fits, CPU-15-1 simplifies repetition. If the sizes are different, make one custom control composition and then replicate it.
Can only NPU-408 be used?
Yes, if the project provides for a single decorative motif. This will be a standalone composition, not CPU-15-1.
Can only the NPU-409 be used?
Yes, by the same logic: the location and scale are determined by your project.
Do polyurethane and MDF need to be painted the same way?
If the goal is a unified visual field, the finish must be coordinated. The specific preparation and painting system is chosen based on the materials and wall covering.
Can it be mounted on an already painted wall?
The possibility depends on the strength of the coating and the chosen mounting compound. The substrate needs to be checked before installation.
Is a separate adhesive needed for polyurethane and MDF?
The specific choice depends on the mounting system and substrate. You cannot assign one compound based only on the material name without checking recommendations.
What should be checked when receiving individual elements?
The article number, selected size, material, condition, and compliance with the working specification.
What to check in CPU-15-1?
The overall article number, dimensions, composition, and match with the approved field on the wall.
Can a composition 500 mm wide be assembled from large NPUs?
You can design such a scheme: large elements of 406 mm leave an additional free field in width. Distances and molding need to be determined separately.
Will large NPUs fit a 350 mm field?
By dimension A of 406 mm, they are wider than such a field, so placement is not possible without changing boundaries. Consider small versions or other decor.
What to do if the layout has already been done for 405 mm?
Do not order blindly. Due to the difference between the overall size of CPU 405 mm and the size of large NPUs 406 mm, you need to check the drawing and do a physical fitting.
Checklist before payment
For CPU-15-1:
-
the field is checked by width;
-
field checked by height;
-
no conflict with baseboard;
-
no conflict with cornice;
-
no outlets in the line;
-
axis approved;
-
card composition checked.
For standalone version:
-
NPU-408 recorded with size;
-
NPU-409 recorded with size;
-
MLD-003-MG calculated by segments;
-
length 2600 mm accounted for;
-
full-size template made;
-
distances determined;
-
materials checked;
-
installation selected;
-
finish defined;
-
final specification compiled.
If these items are closed, the choice between a set and individual elements ceases to be a matter of taste. It becomes a design decision.
Ready-made "Pavlovsk" or custom sizes: the decision is made based on the wall, not on a photo
CPU-15-1 has a strong quality: it already sets the format 405 × 2300 × 22 mm. The buyer does not need to invent relationships between decorative blocks and the linear part. If this dimension matches the wall section, the ready-made set removes unnecessary questions.
Individual NPU-408 and NPU-409 are strong in another way. They allow preserving recognizable decorative motifs and integrating them into existing layout. But along with this freedom, ready-made geometry disappears. You need to determine height, width, gaps, molding lines, and quantity yourself.
Critical check before ordering — NPU size. For the CPU-15-1 scale, you need NPU-408 406 × 228 × 19 mm and NPU-409 406 × 298 × 22 mm. The small versions 210 × 137 × 15 mm and 211 × 158 × 17 mm are different design units. They can be useful, but they are not a seamless replacement.
MLD-003-MG adds another level of choice: it is primed MDF 35 × 12 × 2600 mm, not polyurethane. Its length and quantity are calculated according to its own layout.
Therefore, the practical route looks simple.
If 405 × 2300 mm fits — choose the ready-made CPU-15-1.
If it doesn't fit — take individual NPUs and build a new composition based on the actual wall dimensions.
If you want to preserve the 'Pavlovsk' scale — fix the large NPU versions in the specification.
If you want to reduce the motif — consider the small versions as a separate design, not as the same set.
STAVROS company offers both paths: a ready-made collection for those who need an already assembled proportion, and individual elements for designers and interior owners who value their own wall geometry more. A strong result is achieved not when the buyer takes more decor, but when each detail has an exact size, a specific place, and a clear role.
Before ordering, compare the layout with CPU-15-1, make templates for NPU-408 and NPU-409, write down the dimensions of the selected modifications, and calculate MLD-003-MG. After such a check, the cart will contain exactly the set of parts that matches your wall, not just familiar item numbers from a beautiful photo.
