The main kitchen row is already designed: calm facades, familiar handles, a straight top line. There is a desire to add carving, but not to turn every cabinet into a separate display case. For such a project, two wooden capitals KL-004.02 on the front pilasters of one sideboard can be considered. The adjacent modules remain without carved finishes.

First, mark two installation points, then choose the size and coordinate the mating with the furniture. Only after that determine the execution and pay for the parts. The number of cabinets in the kitchen does not set the number of capitals, and the inscription "to PLM pilasters" does not confirm compatibility of any sizes.

Below is a breakdown of a hypothetical project for a new sideboard. The customer orders individual decorative items, not a finished kitchen. The result will be a product line for a pair of capitals and a separate task for mating elements, finishing, and installation. If there are no suitable fixed posts in the structure, the purchase is postponed until this issue is resolved.

Where carved decor ends: first, highlight the sideboard on the overall elevation

Start with an image of the entire kitchen wall. It should show the sideboard, adjacent cabinets, upper horizontal elements, and main facade lines. A large photo of appealing carving does not show how many decorative accents will be nearby after assembly.

Mark the left and right posts of the sideboard as B1 and B2. For each, provide one upper termination. If the sideboard consists of a lower base and an upper display case, separately indicate where exactly these two points are. A composite item does not mean that the pair should be automatically repeated on each tier.

Composition area Solution in the project under consideration What to include in the order
B1 — left front post of the sideboard One carved termination One KL-004.02 of the selected version
B2 — right front buffet pillar Same finish Second KL-004.02 of the same version
Adjacent cabinets Facades without capitals Do not add details
Buffet side panels Carving does not continue around the corner Do not order additional capitals for the turn

This table becomes the purchasing boundary. Each item in the cart should have its own place on the layout. If a manager is sent only a general request like "we need wooden decor for furniture," the discussion may drift into selecting an entire collection, even though the task is much narrower.

Look at the sideboard from the entrance and dining area perspectives. Assess whether the two finishes conflict with the glass pattern, large handles, or the already chosen light fixture. Sometimes it's enough to keep the carving in the furniture's color; sometimes you have to reduce the size of the detail. Adding another ornament is not a mandatory way to fix the composition.

For help with selection, you can order a design project for furniture decor. STAVROS describes this service as selecting elements to match furniture dimensions and preparing a specification; for a request, you need an image of the object with dimensions and preferences. This should not automatically be considered development of the kitchen cabinet body, hinges, or furniture wall mounting. [3]

Wooden capital KL-004.02: the top finish, not the entire pilaster

KL-004.02 is sold as a capital for PLM pilasters. The card shows beech and oak, with "Standard" and "Prestige" sanding. Dimensions are listed in the sequence A × B × C × F × G. As of the check date, September 5, 2026, the following options are published. [1]

Option Size A × B × C × F × G, mm
1 68 × 82 × 32 × 19 × 54
2 98 × 118 × 40 × 21 × 78
3 135 × 162 × 47 × 25 × 108
4 172 × 206 × 58 × 31 × 137
5 196 × 236 × 63 × 33 × 157
6 221 × 265 × 78 × 41 × 176

Before buy wooden capital KL-004.02, on the sketch, separate the finish itself, the vertical pilaster body, and the top horizontal element of the sideboard. These are different parts of the composition. The price of the capital does not mean the buyer receives the entire post with the base and cornice.

Do not shorten the designation to "capital 98 mm." Such a notation loses the other parameters and complicates verification against the trade line. For an order, it's better to carry over the entire dimension sequence without changing the letters or the order of numbers.

The mounting dimensions here are not calculated: a readable drawing of KL-004.02 could not be obtained during material preparation. Therefore, F and G cannot be independently declared as the width or depth of the joint location. You should request a drawing with a breakdown of the notations or a confirmed diagram of the selected node from the seller.

In the project under consideration, the capital performs a decorative task. The load of shelves, upper cabinets, and their contents is borne by the provided furniture structure. This material does not set an allowable load for the KL-004.02 itself: it cannot be purchased as a replacement for a calculated support.

How to choose the size of KL-004.02 to highlight the sideboard without weighing down the entire upper part of the kitchen

For the first comparison, take two or three adjacent options that the cabinetmaker considers feasible based on the geometry of the stiles. For example, dimensions 68 × 82 × 32 × 19 × 54, 98 × 118 × 40 × 21 × 78, and 135 × 162 × 47 × 25 × 108 mm can be placed on three copies of the same layout. This is a fitting set, not a recommendation of a specific size for all sideboards.

In all versions, keep the same scale of the furniture, the position of doors, handles, and the top finish. Only the selected capital should change. If you simultaneously enlarge the sideboard in the image, darken the background, and zoom in the camera, an objective comparison of options will not be possible.

Write down the reason for choosing each candidate: "fits next to the handle," "covers too much smooth field," "visually gets lost under the top element." Such a short note is more useful than a general "like it more": when the facade changes, it will be clear which criterion needs to be re-checked. The final decision is recorded together with the version of the furniture sketch, otherwise the craftsman may get the size from new correspondence and the placement from old one.

After decoding the dimensional scheme, prepare full-size contours. If only external dimensions are available, a rectangular mock-up shows the occupied space but does not reproduce the carving silhouette. An accurate contour is needed from the drawing; it should not be redrawn from a perspective photo. On the printout, check the control dimension with a ruler: the "fit to page" mode can change the scale.

Try on two finishes at once. One element may look delicate, but a pair together with the top rail may overload a small display case. Keep handles and glass visible on the mock-up: they participate in the same composition. Take photos of three options from the same point to then discuss the choice with the cabinetmaker.

The size check consists of two independent questions. First: is the appearance satisfactory? Second: does the selected geometry fit without conflict with moving parts and adjacent surfaces? A beautiful frontal sketch does not answer the second question—for that, a side view and an opening diagram are needed.

If none of the sizes that fit properly look convincing, you can buy a wooden capital choose a different shape after comparison in the category. There is no need to pay for the smallest option just because the others did not fit. Sometimes the right solution is to change the width of the fixed stile at the furniture design stage.

Buffet capital and pilaster: coordinating details without ordering an extra set

Now find out what is already included in the buffet's construction. The cabinetmaker may provide for fixed vertical elements that only need carved finials. In another design, the pilaster shafts are ordered separately. These options produce a similar facade appearance but different specifications and cost.

Ask the contractor to mark the boundary of responsibility: "posts are made as part of the carcass" or "pilaster shafts are purchased separately." Do not leave the wording "we'll pick it later." If both sides believe the vertical part is supplied by someone else, two capitals will be ready for assembly without an agreed base.

What to Check What should appear in the approval
Joining of parts Drawings of specific executions of the capital and the vertical part
Symmetry B1 and B2 Installation axes and overall height reference
Showcase opening Position of the door and handle throughout the full working movement
Base Material, coating, and fixed installation platform
Top finish Joint with the capital and absence of overlapping two parts on one spot

If you need independent vertical elements, go to the section where you can Buy wooden pilasters. The related product in the card helps start the selection but does not prove compatibility of all size combinations. In the request, name both article numbers and both versions in full.

Do not introduce a rule that the capital must be narrower than the pilaster. External extension can be part of an agreed composition. You need to check the intended connection and free space, not the coincidence of randomly chosen numbers from two tables.

For placing a pair, set one reference system. For example, the cabinetmaker can specify distances to axes B1 and B2 from the left edge of the fixed part of the sideboard, and the height of both parts from one top line. Two independent marks "from the nearest door" are inconvenient: facades may have different references, and visual symmetry will be lost. Store base dimensions and mounting coordinates separately from the five factory parameters of the capital.

Separately check the movement of the adjacent door, not just the doors of the sideboard itself. The handle of an opening cabinet may pass where it is free on the fixed layout. The mounting solution must not cross the joint of the movable facade with the body. The type of glue and possible fasteners are chosen after determining the base; "wood glue" without considering the existing coating is not yet a ready task for the installer.

Wooden capital in the color of the sideboard or contrasting: what to approve on the sample

In a calm kitchen, you can highlight the sideboard with one relief: capitals are painted close to the color of its stiles. Another option is to make the entire sideboard a separate color accent, leaving neighboring facades neutral. First compare these two solutions, and only then discuss patina or additional emphasis on recesses.

Do not choose the wood species separately from the coating. For opaque finishing, ask for a sample on the selected wood with the required preparation. With a semi-transparent coating, compare the visible texture of the capital, pilaster, and sideboard material. You need a sample of the combination, not a promise of shade matching by color name.

At STAVROS, "under enamel" and "under tinting" denote the grade of veneer splicing of the blank. In the first case, lamellas are not matched by color and texture; in the second, they are matched, but tonal differences remain possible. "Standard" and "Prestige" refer to surface treatment; "Prestige" includes detailed manual sanding. Neither of these marks by itself means paint has already been applied. [2]

Before choosing, study the materials and quality of carved decor. Then the finisher should specify which execution of the blank is required and which subsequent operations are included in their proposal. Comparing the price of "Standard" and "Prestige" is useful together with the cost of preparation from the chosen craftsman, not in isolation.

In the coating specification, distinguish between uniformity by design and literal identity of texture. An oak capital next to a smoothly painted facade may have the same color but look different due to the surface. This is not a reason to change the wood of an already paid order without discussion. First, determine on a sample which result is acceptable, and only then fix the material of both parts.

Attach the sample to the buffet material under the intended lighting. Check the color, gloss, and readability of the relief. Too active highlighting of recesses may not match the original task of a calm kitchen, even if the separately painted part is liked. Sign the approved sample and hand it over to the person who will finish both capitals.

For a small order, there is a practical limitation: in the published STAVROS FAQ, painting is offered for orders of products from 150,000 ₽. The pair discussed below does not reach this threshold by itself. Therefore, do not plan factory painting of two items as an automatically available service; coordinate the coating contractor in advance. [4]

Price of a pair of capitals KL-004.02: counting one accent module

For a training estimate, we take 98 × 118 × 40 × 21 × 78 mm, "Prestige" sanding, two pieces. The size is chosen to explain the cost and is not a universal recommendation for a buffet. Prices of one item were re-checked against the card on September 5, 2026. [1]

Execution One capital Calculation Only two capitals
Beech, "Prestige" 5 860 ₽ 2 × 5 860 ₽ 11 720 ₽
Oak, "Prestige" 6 170 ₽ 2 × 6 170 ₽ 12 340 ₽

The difference between the executions is 12,340 − 11,720 = 620 ₽ per pair. This is the difference in the price of products of the same size and polishing quality, not the difference in the cost of a fully finished buffet. The wood species is chosen according to the approved sample and finish compatibility, not just by these 620 rubles.

The project should have the following estimate level:

Expense item How to determine the total How not to count twice
A pair of capitals For the selected product line Check the quantity: two separate parts
Pilaster bodies and other mating elements According to the approved design Exclude what is already included in the furniture order
Design selection, if needed Per separate proposal Do not include automatically in every detail
Sample, preparation, and coating Per the finisher's assignment Clarify whether the sample is included in its cost
Installation materials and setup Per the agreed joint Check the scope of the cabinetmaker's work
Packaging and delivery Per the seller's and carrier's proposal Distinguish transportation from protective packaging

Leave unknown amounts for commercial proposals. Do not sign a total like "11,720 ₽ for finished buffet decor" until the remaining line items are determined. If products are first sent to a finishing workshop and then to assembly, find out whether the second route is included in anyone's estimate.

Purchasing two pieces instead of ordering the entire kitchen does limit the scope of the order, but the savings percentage does not follow from that. It requires two comparable specifications. In this project, it is sufficient to establish that all paid items have their place and an agreed function.

What to add to the two capitals — and what to leave out of the basket

Check the set from the elevation to the shopping list. For B1 and B2 there are capitals; vertical parts are either made by the cabinetmaker or listed as separate items. Bases and top profile are added only if the corresponding parts are present in the project. An empty "base" line does not mean it must be filled with a product.

A reverse pass is also useful: take each line item from the estimate and find it on the sketch. An overlay that cannot be tied to a specific place remains a wish for now. It should not be purchased together with the approved pair "just in case," especially if the craftsman is already starting the finishing.

No additional ornament is needed on adjacent doors just to support the buffet's carving. In the composition under consideration, the connection is created by consistent lines and finish. Evenly distributing all collection elements across the kitchen would change the task itself.

Sometimes the buyer actually wants to decorate the center of a blank door panel, and there are no vertical stiles in the project. In that case, it makes sense to buy carved wooden decor, matching that purpose, after separate selection. The capital should not be used as a substitute for the center overlay just because its pattern is liked.

When order KL-004.02 is premature: there is no confirmed joint, the mock-up interferes with opening, the size is not satisfactory on the overall elevation, or the full estimate exceeds the budget. First, adjust the design, choose another option, or abandon the carved accent. The plan "we will trim what was purchased on site" should not replace approval: changing the contour affects both the appearance and the joint of the part.

Order KL-004.02 for the buffet: product line item and separate finishing task

The seller needs an unambiguous list of items. For the example under consideration, the request can be formatted as follows; before sending, replace the training size with the approved one for your furniture.

Please calculate the order: KL-004.02, size A × B × C × D × F × G — 98 × 118 × 40 × 21 × 78 mm, beech, "Prestige" sanding, 2 pieces. Please coordinate the gluing grade with the selected coating. Both parts are intended for two front posts of one sideboard. Please confirm execution, mating drawing, cost, readiness time, packaging, and delivery to the address: ______. Recipient: ______.

Attach to the request a general layout of the kitchen row and a larger view of the sideboard with marks B1 and B2. Separately indicate which vertical elements have already been ordered from the furniture maker. This will allow discussing the mating without re-including ready posts in the decor supply.

The task for the finisher must include the number of the approved sample, the buffet material, the required color and gloss, the list of surfaces to be treated, and the agreed sequence of work. The task for the installer must include part coordinates, the base, junction points, and opening verification. The general phrase "make it as in the photo" does not replace any of these documents.

Before payment, check payment and delivery terms. The seller provides for order processing with the article, material, size, quality, and quantity specified. Clarify the recipient and address considering the first acceptance point: it may be a workshop, not the customer's kitchen. [5]

Link the supply to the furniture manufacturing stages: drawing confirmation, part receipt, trial fitting, agreed finishing, and final installation. Each stage requires an executor and a confirmed date. The promised readiness of the capitals does not yet mean the buffet is ready. If the cabinetmaker changes the top profile after paying for the decor, first re-check the joint, rather than sending parts for painting according to the previous task.

Upon receipt, check both parts against the specification, inspect the threads, and record visible damage before irreversible finishing. If the marking matches but the fit raises doubts, first clarify it according to the drawing. Do not correct a presumed mating error by random trimming of the already received product.

After agreeing on the design, sample, and full estimate, you can order the capitals KL-004.02 in the selected finish. Before payment, re-check the current price: the calculation above fixes the cost as of the date of material preparation.

Questions before purchasing capitals for a sideboard

Can the fluting be left only on the upper display case if there is a wide cabinet below?

Yes, as a separate design solution. On the elevation, mark the upper display case and its two front posts. The lower cabinet does not automatically receive a second pair. Check the overall composition as a whole: different tier widths require their own alignment, not repetition of the distances between capitals.

Is a second capital needed if one side of the sideboard stands against a wall?

The decision depends on whether the corresponding front post is visible and whether a finish is planned for it. A side wall by itself does not eliminate the front detail. However, you cannot order a pair without checking the space for its outer contour near the wall junction.

Will pilasters have to be purchased if the cabinetmaker has already made fixed posts?

Not necessarily. First, show him the drawing of the selected capital and get confirmation of the connection with the existing element. If the joint fits, a separate pilaster body may be unnecessary. If it does not fit, re-agree on the construction without adding extra layers at random.

Can you try on the smallest size and order a large one based on impression?

A small sample helps evaluate the product but does not prove that another size will fit and look the same. For the chosen version, its own full-size contour and joint check are needed. Scaling a photo does not replace factory dimensions.

Is confirmed compatibility preserved if only the capital size is changed?

Not automatically. The confirmation applies to a specific pair of versions and a specific joint. After replacement, return to the drawings of both parts, the top line, and door movement. Identical series names do not negate this check.

Can one of the two capitals be turned into a consumable finish sample?

A sample can be provided, but first coordinate its consequences with the finisher. If the part does not go into the finished set after testing, only one remains for installation. The sample and the two installed capitals must be accounted for separately; reuse is not assumed in advance.

What changes in the estimate if two parts are painted by different workshops?

Separate conditions for preparation, sample approval, and transportation appear. Clarify who accepts the overall result of the pair and corrects possible differences. One color code does not replace a common physical standard, so splitting such a small batch without reason is inconvenient.

Will KL-004.02 fit if a continuous ornament with an overlap onto the side panels is needed?

This scenario goes beyond the considered pair of frontal finishes. A separate corner scheme and suitable products are needed, not an automatic purchase of two more identical capitals. First, coordinate the pattern transition and the design of the corner unit.
