A 32 mm edge seems wide enough until a real MLD-057 profile of 25 mm width appears nearby. Simple arithmetic leaves only:
32 − 25 = 7 mm.
It is these seven millimeters that determine whether the frame will look deliberately built into the facade or as if it was being squeezed into an already finished space.
It is too late to redo the cabinet: four mirrors are already glued in, the outer size of the facades is set, and the edges are formed. Therefore, before ordering, you need to decide not only whether the molding fits. You need to check the actual edge width on all four sides of each facade, choose the profile position relative to the mirror, ensure that its 12 mm protrusion does not interfere with adjacent doors, and then build a real cutting map from 2400 or 2600 mm strips.
For a conditional frame with finished sides of 500×1800 mm, the calculation looks like this:
2 × 1800 + 2 × 500 = 4600 mm per facade.
For four:
4600 × 4 = 18,400 mm, that is, 18.4 linear meters of clean profile.
But you cannot buy 18.4 m as an abstract length. MLD-057 is sold in whole strips, and it is the cutting that shows how many are actually needed.
In this scenario, a convenient preliminary map is 1800 + 500 from one strip. Then one facade needs two source strips, and four facades need eight. This works for both 2600 mm MDF and 2400 mm beech/oak. The difference will be not in quantity, but in leftovers.
Before payment, it is important to confirm one thing: the dimensions 1800 and 500 must be exactly the finished lengths of the frame elements along the chosen measurement line, not just the mirror dimensions. With a 45° corner joint, the inner, axial, and outer lengths of the part differ. Therefore, first you need a frame drawing, then an order.
To compare profiles, you can open the category wooden furniture molding and only after fitting proceed to the specific MLD-057.
Wooden molding MLD-057 25×12 mm: as confirmed by the card
MLD-057 is available in three versions.
| Material | Size | Price at the time of check | Availability in St. Petersburg |
|---|---|---|---|
| MDF | 25×12×2600 mm | 690 ₽ | 104 pcs. |
| Beech | 25×12×2400 mm | 1 250 ₽ | 136 pcs. |
| Oak | 25×12×2400 mm | 1 770 ₽ | 86 pcs. |
The card confirms the quality of the "Prestige" sanding. MDF is positioned as an option for enamel.
For our task, three parameters are especially important:
-
face width — 25 mm;
-
protrusion/thickness — 12 mm;
-
length — 2600 mm for MDF and 2400 mm for solid wood.
After checking the edge and cutting, you can order MLD-057 25×12 mm in the selected material.
MLD-057 made of MDF 25×12×2600 mm
Suitable when the frame needs to be painted in the color of the facade or in another opaque shade.
Our factory also produces:
Beech MLD-057 25×12×2400 mm
Natural solid wood with a calmer wood texture. Can be tinted or receive an opaque finish depending on the project.

Oak MLD-057 25×12×2400 mm
Makes sense if the frame should remain a wood accent and support other oak elements of the furniture or interior.
Why quarter sampling here is not a standard option
The card allows an additional quarter sampling service per technical specification, but only for orders of 100 or more items.
For a project of eight slats, you cannot build the structure on the assumption that this operation will be done as a standard retail service. If special sampling is needed, its terms are agreed upon separately.
MLD-057 on a 32 mm edge: what the remaining 7 mm actually mean
Nominal calculation:
32 − 25 = 7 mm.
But it only works with a perfect 32 mm edge.
On the finished cabinet, each side must be measured separately.
Suppose the actual measurements are:
-
left — 32 mm;
-
right — 31 mm;
-
top — 33 mm;
-
bottom — 30 mm.
Then the residual field with a 25 mm profile will be:
-
7 mm;
-
6 mm;
-
8 mm;
-
5 mm.
This is already a different visual result.
Therefore, the project baseline should be the minimum actual edge, not the size from the original drawing.
If the minimum remaining is 30 mm:
30 − 25 = 5 mm.
It is these 5 mm that need to be evaluated with a mockup.
Why 32 mm should be measured from a clear line
The number "32 mm" itself says nothing without a measurement base.
It needs to be fixed where it comes from:
-
from the visible edge of the mirror;
-
from the edge of the sealant;
-
from the technological gap;
-
from the outer edge of the facade;
-
from the chamfer;
-
from the line of the future molding.
If there is a thin sealed seam around the mirror, the profile cannot be automatically placed as if this seam did not exist.
If there is a bevel on the outer edge of the facade, 32 mm of flat work surface may actually be missing.
Before purchasing, it is useful to stick a 25 mm wide paper strip around the entire perimeter and see whether the residual edge is actually perceived as uniform.
Wooden molding around the mirror: three layout schemes
MLD-057 has no single mandatory position.
Scheme 1. Profile almost flush with the mirror
The outer part of the edge remains free.
This way the frame is more strongly connected to the mirror.
Scheme 2. A thin visible edge is left between the mirror and MLD-057
The frame is visually separated from the mirror.
With the initial 32 mm, there is little free space, so this interval needs to be checked at a 1:1 scale.
Scheme 3. MLD-057 is attached to the outer edge of the facade.
Then the free strip remains closer to the mirror.
This option may be more convenient if the outer edge of the facade should look more assembled.
No scheme can be declared universally correct. On four identical facades, the main thing is to approve the position once and repeat it without discrepancies.
After the mock-up, it is already possible Buy wooden molding in the required execution.
MLD-057 thickness is 12 mm: why the side view is no less important than the frontal width
Frontally, the profile occupies 25 mm.
From the side, it protrudes by 12 mm.
For the finished cabinet, this is a separate check.
Need to open all four facades and check:
-
whether the frame is approaching the adjacent door;
-
whether it catches the adjacent facade;
-
whether the profile falls under the palm;
-
whether it conflicts with the furniture handle;
-
whether the opening angle changes;
-
whether the molding touches the cabinet body.
Especially carefully look at pairs of adjacent doors that open towards each other.
If two 12 mm profiles are close in motion, the frontal calculation 32−25 no longer solves the problem.
Four mirrored facades: how to get the real frame size
The plan uses a mirror 500×1800 mm.
This is a good example for cutting, but before ordering, you need to clarify what exactly the size of the future four parts means.
If the molding forms a frame around the mirror with 45° corners, the part has:
-
inner length;
-
outer length;
-
cut line;
-
position of the miter tip.
Therefore, the phrase "vertical 1800 mm" should be fixed on the drawing.
If 1800 mm is the size of the mirror, the outer length of the frame may be larger.
If 1800 mm is already the finished length of the profile along the accepted line, the calculation can be used directly.
It is this control that protects against a situation where eight slats are bought correctly but cut to the wrong dimensional base.
How many linear meters of MLD-057 are needed for four frames 500×1800 mm
If the finished sides of the frame are taken as 500 and 1800 mm, the perimeter of one frame is:
2 × 1800 + 2 × 500 = 4600 mm.
This:
4.6 m.
For four facades:
4.6 × 4 = 18.4 m.
Total required:
-
8 verticals of 1800 mm;
-
8 horizontals of 500 mm.
That is, 16 finished parts.
But the number of initial strips is determined not by dividing the total length by the length of one blank, but by the cutting map.
MDF molding MLD-057 2600 mm: cutting 1800+500
From one MDF strip:
2600 mm.
We take:
1800 + 500 = 2300 mm.
Nominal remainder:
2600 − 2300 = 300 mm.
For one facade, two such strips are needed:
-
first → 1800 + 500;
-
second → 1800 + 500.
We get a complete set:
-
two verticals 1800;
-
two horizontals 500.
For four facades:
2 × 4 = 8 slats MLD-057 MDF 2600 mm.
Total purchase length:
8 × 2600 = 20,800 mm.
Net requirement:
18,400 mm.
Nominal total remainder before accounting for the cut:
20,800 − 18,400 = 2,400 mm.
But this is not one convenient piece of 2,400 mm, but distributed remainders of about 300 mm from each original slat, and the actual cut will slightly reduce them.
Oak and beech MLD-057 2400 mm: same cutting, different amount of remainder
Solid wood slat:
2400 mm.
Scheme:
1800 + 500 = 2300 mm.
Nominal remainder:
2400 − 2300 = 100 mm.
For one facade, two source strips are needed again.
For four:
8 slats.
Total purchase length:
8 × 2400 = 19,200 mm.
Net requirement:
18,400 mm.
Nominal total remainder before accounting for the cut:
800 mm.
That is, in this specific MDF cutting of 2600 mm, it does not reduce the number of purchased strips compared to the 2400 mm solid wood.
It only creates longer leftovers.
This is an important commercial conclusion: a larger standard length does not always mean a smaller basket.
Why dividing 18.4 m by 2.6 m is not enough
Mathematics:
18,4 / 2,6 ≈ 7,08.
Rounding gives 8 strips.
In our example, this indeed coincided with the actual cutting.
But the coincidence happened only because 1800+500 fits conveniently into 2600 mm.
If the mirror were, for example, a different height, the total length could still give eight strips with simple division, but the specific parts would no longer fit into them without short inserts.
Therefore, the correct algorithm is:
-
write out all finish parts;
-
distribute them among the original strips;
-
account for the saw kerf;
-
check the wood grain direction and finish;
-
only then count the quantity.
Why short inserts on a mirror frame are better excluded in advance
Technically, part of the frame can sometimes be assembled from two pieces.
But on a mirror facade, an extra joint is especially noticeable:
-
the mirror reflects it;
-
the frame line is close to the eye;
-
On oak and beech, the grain pattern is disrupted;
-
Painted MDF requires additional seam preparation;
-
Four identical facades begin to differ in joint placement.
In our cutting layout, short inserts are not needed: the long sides of 1800 mm fit entirely into both 2400 and 2600 mm.
That is why it is better to keep them whole.
Cost of eight MLD-057 slats
At the current card price:
MDF (740–760 kg/m³, emission class E1/E0) provides ideal geometry, uniformity, and better base for enamel: high adhesion, smooth surface, absence of knots and cracks.
8 × 690 = 5 520 ₽.
Beech
8 × 1 250 = 10 000 ₽.
Oak
8 × 1 770 = 14 160 ₽.
This is the cost of the eight original slats at the time of checking.
It does not include:
-
cutting at 45°;
-
painting or tinting;
-
installation;
-
glue;
-
delivery;
-
possible stock;
-
correction of existing facade geometry.
Before payment, the current price and availability need to be checked again in the product card.
MDF, beech, or oak for an already finished mirror wardrobe
The choice of material should be linked to the wardrobe itself.
MDF (740–760 kg/m³, emission class E1/E0) provides ideal geometry, uniformity, and better base for enamel: high adhesion, smooth surface, absence of knots and cracks.
Suitable if the frame must exactly match the facade enamel.
This is especially logical on solid-colored cabinet furniture.
For such a scenario, you can buy MDF molding and do a test paint-out before purchasing the entire batch.
Beech
Suitable if solid wood with a calmer texture is needed or tinting is planned.
Oak
Needed when the frame should remain an independent wooden accent.
If the facades or interior already contain oak, you can buy MLD-057 made of oak after a physical fitting.
Why MDF under enamel needs to be painted on the actual profile
A flat test swatch does not show how light will fall on the rounded profile of MLD-057.
The molding has:
-
an illuminated part;
-
a side shadow;
-
a reflection from the mirror;
-
contrast with the flat facade.
The same color may appear slightly lighter or darker due to the shape.
Therefore, before eight slats, it is useful to do a test paint on a real profile.
If a specific MLD-057 sample is not at hand, you can order a sample of wooden molding through the section of samples of linear products.
How to check the MLD-057 sample on a finished facade
The sample is applied not only to the mirror.
You need to check four zones:
-
along the mirror edge;
-
at the outer edge of the facade;
-
next to the handle;
-
near the adjacent door.
Then the facade is opened and closed several times.
If the profile is to be painted, the test is repeated after a trial finish.
The most useful photo is not a close-up of the molding, but a general view of the cabinet from the distance at which it is actually seen in the room.
MLD-057 and furniture handle: check before cutting
The handle in this article is not a separate topic, but it cannot be ignored.
Check:
-
whether the handle base fits into the future frame;
-
whether there is enough room for fingers;
-
whether the molding ends up under the palm;
-
whether the profile approaches the adjacent door;
-
whether the solution is repeated identically on the four facades.
If the handle holes already exist, the position of MLD-057 is adjusted to the existing structure, not the other way around.
Oak MLD-057 and the room's wooden baseboard
If the cabinet is visible simultaneously with the room's lower trim, the oak frame and baseboard become part of the same material palette.
They don't have to be absolutely identical, but it's worth comparing:
-
wood species;
-
tone;
-
gloss level;
-
pattern direction;
-
Contrast with the floor.
If the lower profile is still being selected, you can buy an oak baseboard only after the frame sample is approved.
Is a surplus needed beyond the eight planks
Eight planks is a rational working estimate for the given map 1800+500.
But the question of reserve remains separate.
An additional plank may be justified if:
-
the cutting is done for the first time;
-
expensive oak needs to be from the same batch;
-
there is a risk of damage during delivery;
-
four frames must be perfectly identical;
-
repair during use is possible.
Do not automatically add 10%.
First, assess the real risk and the possibility of buying the same material later.
What to check before cutting the first plank
Before sawing, the following must be confirmed:
-
minimum edge;
-
position of MLD-057 relative to the mirror;
-
finished length of each side;
-
measurement base for the 45° angle;
-
saw cut width;
-
outer dimensions of the frame;
-
opening of facades;
-
the position of the handles;
-
material;
-
finish.
For four identical doors, it is better to make the first frame as a control, install it, and only after acceptance cut the remaining seven sets of parts.
Errors when ordering MLD-057 for mirror facades
Error 1: Considering 32−25=7 as the final solution
Reason: the numbers match the drawing.
Consequence: 5 or 6 mm remains on the actual side.
How to avoid: measure all four sides of each facade.
Mistake 2. Taking the mirror size as the length of the molding
Reason: the frame surrounds the mirror.
Consequence: when mitered at 45°, the finished length turns out different.
How to avoid: fix the measurement line on the drawing.
Mistake 3. Buying 18.4 linear meters without a cutting map
Reason: the total length is already known.
Consequence: long pieces are not optimized against the original planks.
How to avoid: layout 1800+500.
Error 4. Choosing MDF only by the color of a flat facade
Reason: the enamel code matches.
Consequence: the rounded profile looks different under light.
How to avoid: test paint on MLD-057.
Error 5. Planning a quarter cut for eight parts
Reason: the service is available in the card.
Consequence: a limitation of 100 items is revealed.
How to avoid: read the service terms before the project.
Error 6. Not checking the 12 mm thickness when opening
Reason: only 25 mm are visible from the front.
Consequence: adjacent facades conflict in movement.
How to avoid: full opening test.
What to send to the STAVROS manager before ordering MLD-057
A ready specification may look like this:
MLD-057 / 25×12 mm / MDF-beech-oak material / 4 mirror facades / mirror 500×1800 mm / actual minimum edge ___ mm / 8 full-size slats preliminary / finish parts 1800+500 per approved measuring line / 45° angles / finish ___ / sample checked yes-no / allowance ___.
After approval, you can buy wooden molding MLD-057 in the calculated quantity.
When not to buy MLD-057 yet
It is better to postpone the order if:
-
32 mm taken only from the project;
-
mirrors are not installed yet;
-
not all four sides are measured;
-
molding position scheme is not selected;
-
length at 45° corners is not fixed;
-
door opening is not checked;
-
handles conflict with the frame;
-
no cutting map;
-
MDF and solid wood are compared only by photo.
Total: how many MLD-057 to order for four mirror facades
If the finished frame elements indeed have lengths of 1800 and 500 mm, one frame requires:
2×1800 + 2×500 = 4600 mm.
Four frames:
18,400 mm of pure profile.
For MDF 2600 mm map:
1800 + 500 = 2300 mm
gives two initial strips for the facade and 8 strips for four facades.
For beech and oak 2400 mm, the same map also gives 8 strips.
The difference:
-
MDF — about 300 mm of nominal remainder from each strip;
-
solid wood — about 100 mm;
-
the number of initial strips is the same.
At the price at the time of checking, the working cart is:
-
MDF — 5,520 ₽;
-
beech — 10,000 ₽;
-
oak — 14,160 ₽.
But before purchasing, it is necessary to confirm the very first geometry:
edge 32 mm − MLD-057 25 mm = nominal 7 mm.
If the actual minimum edge is smaller, it determines the position of the frame.
And one more condition: the dimensions 1800 and 500 must be the dimensions of the finished parts according to the approved measurement line, not automatically the dimensions of the mirror. Only then are the eight slats truly a working order without short inserts.
FAQ
What is the size of MLD-057 made of MDF?
25×12×2600 mm.
What is the size of MLD-057 made of beech?
25×12×2400 mm.
What is the size of oak MLD-057?
25×12×2400 mm.
How much remains from a 32 mm edge after molding with a width of 25 mm?
Nominally 7 mm.
Can these 7 mm be considered a guaranteed remainder?
No. First, you need to measure the actual edge around the entire perimeter.
What is the thickness of MLD-057?
12 mm.
Why does the 12 mm thickness need to be checked?
Because the profile protrudes above the facade and can affect the handle and the opening of adjacent doors.
How much clean molding is needed for one frame 500×1800 mm?
If these are the final dimensions of the frame sides — 4.6 m.
How much is needed for four frames?
18.4 m of clean profile.
How many MDF strips of 2600 mm are needed?
When cutting 1800+500 — eight strips.
How many oak strips of 2400 mm are needed?
With the same layout — also eight.
Why doesn't MDF of 2600 mm reduce the number of strips?
Because both 2400 and 2600 mm allow obtaining one 1800 piece and one 500 piece from each original strip.
What is the leftover for MDF?
Nominally about 300 mm from the original strip before accounting for the cut.
What is the remainder for beech or oak?
About 100 mm before accounting for the saw kerf.
Can lengths of 1800 and 500 be taken directly according to the mirror size?
Not automatically. With a 45° miter frame, you need to determine along which line the finished dimensions are specified.
Can I order MLD-057 with a rabbet cut for four facades?
The card indicates the rabbet cutting service only for orders of 100 items or more, so for such a project it cannot be considered a standard option.
What to choose — MDF, beech, or oak?
MDF is convenient for enamel, beech is for a calmer natural texture or tinting, oak is for a pronounced wood accent.
Is it necessary to make a sample before purchasing eight slats?
Useful, especially for checking the color, 12 mm thickness, and position on the finished facade.
How to check 45° angles?
First, make a control frame or template and confirm the external/internal dimensional base before mass cutting.
Is a ninth plank needed as a spare?
Not necessarily. The decision depends on cutting risk, material, possibility of additional purchase, and repair requirements.
How much do eight MLD-057 MDF ones cost?
5,520 ₽ at the card price at the time of check.
How much do eight beech MLD-057 ones cost?
10 000 ₽.
How much do eight oak MLD-057 ones cost?
14 160 ₽.
