The bed frame is already in the bedroom, the mattress is selected, the sleeping height is satisfactory, but the wall behind the pillows remains empty, and the furniture itself looks unfinished. In this situation, there is no need to buy the whole bed again. You can buy a bed headboard separately if you check its dimensions, completeness, method of connection with the existing frame, and the possibility of bringing it into the room in advance.
KRVT-001-1 is not a conditional idea for decoration or the name of a set that exists only in visualization. It is an independent product item: a carved wooden headboard made of beech or oak, available in three sizes. Therefore, the buyer can buy the KRVT-001-1 bed headboard separatelywithout ordering a full bed frame at the same time.
However, separate sale does not automatically mean compatibility with any bed base. A headboard with a width of 1864, 2064, or 2264 mm cannot be chosen solely by the usual formula "a 160 cm mattress means a 160 cm headboard is needed." KRVT-001-1 has its own external width, height, and thickness. The existing bed has its own side rails, legs, connection points, base height, and protruding parts. If you only match the mattress width, you may end up with a beautiful carved headboard that cannot be neatly and reliably attached to the frame without serious modification.
What matters here is not an abstract discussion about which headboard looks richer. The buyer needs a specific answer: what is included in the order, which of the three sizes to consider, what measurements to take from the finished bed, how beech and oak differ, when to choose the "Standard" or "Prestige" sanding finish, whether the footboard KRVTC-001-2 is required, and how to prepare the oversized product for delivery, finishing, and assembly.
The main rule can be stated right away:
the mattress size helps choose the first option for checking, but it does not confirm compatibility of KRVT-001-1 with the existing bed.
Can the headboard be purchased separately from the bed
Yes. KRVT-001-1 is sold as a separate product. The buyer orders not the entire bedroom set, but the rear carved headboard of a specific size, material, and sanding quality.
This solution is especially useful in several real-life situations.
The first is when the bed was made without a tall headboard. The frame is satisfactory in terms of strength, size, height, and mattress support system, so there is no point in replacing it entirely. The carved headboard changes the appearance of the furniture without buying a new base and new side rails.
The second is when the old headboard is damaged, outdated, or no longer matches the bedroom decor. Instead of replacing the entire bed, you can consider a standalone wooden part, but only after checking the fit and the load-bearing joint.
Third — furniture is assembled in stages. First, the customer orders the frame, side rails, or mattress base, and adds the decorative part after renovation is complete. This approach helps spread out costs and work, but the dimensions of all elements must be agreed upon from the very beginning.
Fourth — the joinery workshop uses a ready-made carved headboard in its own project. The craftsman does not have to carve a complex ornament from scratch: he designs the frame and mounting assembly around the actual product.
Fifth — the bedroom interior changes, but the bed itself remains. For example, a smooth modern headboard is replaced with a carved wooden structure to tie the furniture to classic nightstands, wooden frames, or new wall finishes.
A separate headboard cannot be perceived as a wall panel that is simply placed behind the mattress. It is a furniture component. It must be securely connected to the bed structure or installed according to another calculated scheme. Detailed universal fasteners are not described in the card, so the connection method is approved before ordering, not invented during installation.
KRVT-001-1 in numbers: what is confirmed by the card
| Parameter | Confirmed information | What the buyer should check |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Bed headboard KRVT-001-1 | Unified spelling of the article number in the invoice, drawing, and correspondence |
| Product type | Separate bed backrest | Do not confuse with a full bed or wall decor |
| Size 1 | 1864 × 1508 × 64 mm | External frame width, mattress height, and clearance |
| Size 2 | 2064 × 1553 × 64 mm | Junction points and bedroom scale |
| Size 3 | 2264 × 1553 × 64 mm | Passages, wall, baseboard, and transport route |
| Material | Beech or oak | Future finishing and coordination with the existing bed |
| Sanding | "Standard" or "Prestige" | Volume of preparation before the final coating |
| Regluing quality | For beech, an enamel finish is available; for oak, a tinting finish | The type of coating must be determined before ordering |
| Delivery condition | Disassembled backrest frame | Location and technology of final assembly |
| Completeness | 1 carved part and 2 plywood back panels | Fasteners and assembly method are specified separately |
| Production | Custom Order | The current lead time is checked for the selected configuration |
| Related product | Footboard KRVTC-001-2 | Do the front and back headboards need to be assembled in the same style |
| Mounting to an external frame | Not automatically confirmed | A drawing of the existing bed and a connection project are required |
The dimensions in the table refer to the full size of the headboard. They do not equal the mattress size, the width of the opening between the side rails, or the distance between mounting holes. These values must not be mixed.

What exactly will arrive with the order
The headboard frame is shipped disassembled by default. It includes:
-
one carved piece;
-
two plywood back panels.
This is a fundamental clarification. In the photo, the buyer sees a solid tall headboard, but during shipping and upon receipt, it is a set of parts.
Get Consultation
One carved part
The carved piece creates the main decorative pattern. It defines the character of KRVT-001-1 and distinguishes the finished headboard from a smooth furniture panel.
Upon receipt, it is inspected with particular care. The edges of the ornament, thin transitions, symmetry, absence of transport damage, and compliance with the selected wood species are checked.
Do not lift the structure by protruding parts of the carving. They were created for the decorative pattern, not as handles for carrying.
Two plywood back panels
The plywood elements are part of the backrest frame. Their purpose and position must be matched against the product drawing. You cannot assume on your own that they are a finished soft insert, final upholstery, wall panel, or a universal mounting platform for any frame.
If the project includes upholstery, decorative finishing, or other refinement of the back panels, its composition is developed separately. The card confirms the plywood parts themselves but does not give grounds to attribute fabric, padding, fasteners, or a finished surface coating to them.
What should not be considered included without confirmation
Do not expect in advance in the delivery:
-
bed side rails;
-
mattress base;
-
mattress;
-
front footboard;
-
mounting kit for another frame;
-
soft upholstery;
-
wall mounts;
-
finish paint or varnish;
-
nightstands;
-
on-site assembly services.
Each additional item must be visible in the invoice. The phrase "turnkey headboard" without a detailed breakdown is insufficient.
Why disassembled delivery is convenient and at the same time requires preparation
The disassembled format facilitates packaging and can simplify moving a large item, but final assembly cannot be left without a plan. Before delivery, you need to determine:
-
where to unpack the set;
-
Is there enough free space?
-
which side to lay the carved part;
-
how to protect the front surface;
-
in what sequence to connect the elements;
-
when to perform the finishing;
-
how to move the assembled backrest;
-
how it connects to the bed.
If the product is finished before assembly, the mating areas need to be protected. If the finish is applied after assembly, the craftsman must have access to the relief, ends, and edges of the back panels.
Three sizes of KRVT-001-1: which one to choose
The card presents three fixed dimensions:
-
1864 × 1508 × 64 mm;
-
2064 × 1553 × 64 mm;
-
2264 × 1553 × 64 mm.
The first value is the total width. The second is the total height. The third is the thickness of the product according to the specified dimension.
The difference between the options is not limited to adding 200 mm in width. The narrowest headboard has a height of 1508 mm, while the next two have 1553 mm. Therefore, when switching to a different size, both horizontal and vertical proportions change.
1864 × 1508 × 64 mm
This size is the first considered for a bed for a mattress about 1600 mm wide, but the word "about" is crucial here. The nominal width of the mattress does not prove that the external width of your frame and the connection point will match KRVT-001-1.
A headboard 1864 mm wide extends beyond a 1600 mm mattress by approximately 132 mm on each side, if their geometric centers coincide:
(1864 − 1600) / 2 = 132 mm.
This calculation shows only the visual overhang. It is not a mounting dimension. These 132 mm may include posts, carved frames, and other parts of the headboard.
Before ordering, check:
-
the external width of the bed;
-
the width between the side rails;
-
position of legs and posts;
-
distance between intended mounting points;
-
height of the base under the mattress;
-
mattress thickness;
-
top line of pillows;
-
presence of outlets and sconces;
-
baseboard protrusion.
If a finished bed with a 1600 mm wide mattress has an external dimension of 1700 mm, the 1864 mm headboard will protrude beyond the frame. This may look correct if the overhang is symmetrical and provided for by the design.
When the frame is wider than 1864 mm, the headboard may appear visually narrower than the base, and its structural zones may not align with the side rails.
2064 × 1553 × 64 mm
The average option is logically checked for a mattress width of 1800 mm. With conditional centering, the visual remainder is:
(2064 − 1800) / 2 = 132 mm on each side.
The width proportion repeats the first size, but the total height is increased by 45 mm. This is part of the model's overall geometry, not free space that can be used during installation.
For an existing frame, measure:
-
the total width at the outer points;
-
the height of the upper edge of the side rails;
-
the height of the mattress from the floor;
-
the distance from the floor to the start of the decorative part;
-
the position of the mounting zones;
-
the gap to the wall;
-
distance to the windowsill, molding, or ceiling track.
A headboard wider than two meters is large. It cannot be assessed only on a phone screen. Make a full-size layout on the wall with painter's tape: 2064 mm in width and 1553 mm in height. Then place the bed in its intended position and check whether the outline overlaps switches, lights, or wall decor.
2264 × 1553 × 64 mm
The widest option is checked for a 2000 mm mattress. With conditional centering, the same visual overhang remains:
(2264 − 2000) / 2 = 132 mm on each side.
The recurring difference suggests a connection between the size range and three common bed widths. But this pattern cannot be used instead of a drawing.
The 2264 mm headboard occupies more than 2.2 m of wall. Before ordering, it is necessary to check not only the bed but also the room:
-
wall width;
-
position of the doorway;
-
distance to the wardrobe;
-
passages on both sides;
-
opening drawers and doors;
-
baseboard;
-
wall panels;
-
wall sconce;
-
sockets;
-
air conditioner;
-
path of delivery through the entrance, staircase, and doors.
For a large headboard, the mistake "there's plenty of room in the room" is especially dangerous. Free floor space does not guarantee a free wall or the ability to turn a long piece in the hallway.
Comparison of three sizes
| Size KRVT-001-1 | Which mattress width is reasonable to check first | Half the difference in width | What must be confirmed |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1864 × 1508 × 64 mm | 1600 мм | 132 мм | The outer width of the frame and the height of the headboard above the mattress |
| 2064 × 1553 × 64 mm | 1800 мм | 132 мм | Connection points, the height of the side rails, and the wall scale |
| 2264 × 1553 × 64 mm | 2000 мм | 132 мм | Clearance, walkways, the wall, and the central position of the bed |
The table does not automatically establish compatibility. It helps you choose a first option to check, after which all dimensions are verified against the drawing.
Why the mattress width is not sufficient
The query "what headboard size is needed for a 1600 mm mattress" seems simple, but the mattress and the headboard belong to different structural layers of the bed.
The mattress lies inside or above the base. The headboard connects to the frame, wall, or another support system. Between them are side rails, posts, legs, upholstery, fasteners, and gaps.
The outer width of the frame
A bed for the same mattress can have different outer widths. One model has thin side rails, another has massive side panels. Therefore, a 1600 mm mattress is found in frames with widths of 1650, 1750, 1850 mm and more.
KRVT-001-1 should be compared with the actual frame, not with the mattress label.
Distance between connection points
Even when the width visually fits, the mounting zones may not align. The card does not specify a universal center-to-center dimension for connection with any frame. Therefore, a working diagram is required.
Height of side rails
The lower part of the headboard must correctly meet the side parts of the bed. If the side rails are higher or lower than the intended level, a step, gap, or the need for an additional transition element will arise.
Height of the base and mattress
The headboard should remain visible after installing the mattress and pillows. A tall mattress may cover a significant portion of the lower area. A low one may expose a section that was intended to be hidden in the visualization.
Thickness of soft layers
If a soft insert is planned on the plywood back panels, the fabric and padding change the actual thickness and outer contour. The project must account for them before manufacturing adjacent parts.
Baseboard and wall
A headboard 64 mm thick may not fit against the wall as expected if a tall baseboard, outlet, or decorative profile interferes. Sometimes the bed must be moved away, and its overall length in the room increases.
What measurements to take from an existing bed
The best way to avoid mistakes is to prepare a dimension map. Don't limit yourself to a single photo with a tape measure.
Full external width
Measure the bed at the most distant side points. If side rails, upholstery, or legs protrude, note that separately.
Take the width:
-
at the bottom part;
-
at the level of the side rails;
-
in the area of the intended connection with the headboard.
These values may differ.
Width between the inner sides of the side rails
This size is needed to understand the geometry of the frame, although it is not directly equal to the width of the headboard.
If a mattress is already inside, do not use its width as a substitute for measuring the box. There may be gaps between the mattress and the side rails.
Height of side rails from the floor
Mark the top and bottom edges. If the floor is uneven, measure on the left and right.
A difference of a few millimeters may be unnoticeable at the floor, but can show up on the top line of a large backrest.
Height of the base under the mattress
It shows where the mattress is located relative to the future headboard.
If a metal frame on its own legs is used, measure its top surface. If the mattress lies on slats, record the level of the slats.
Full height of the mattress
Measure the installed mattress, not the value from an old order. Take into account a topper if it is used permanently.
The mattress may slightly change its actual height after use, so for a visual project it is useful to measure it in its real state.
Mattress height from the floor
This is a key parameter. Compare it with the total height of KRVT-001-1.
Measure:
-
top of the base;
-
top of the mattress;
-
top of the permanent topper;
-
usual position of pillows.
Coordinates of existing holes
If the frame already has mounts for the old headboard, take measurements:
-
distance between holes;
-
distance from the floor;
-
diameter;
-
depth;
-
condition of the wood or metal;
-
thickness of the part in this area.
Old holes do not mean that the new headboard must be attached to them. They only serve as initial data.
Frame material
Specify what the bed is made of:
-
solid wood;
-
MDF;
-
plywood;
-
metal;
-
combined construction;
-
another material.
The connection method depends on the base. The same screw works differently in metal, solid wood, and panel material.
Condition of the existing bed
Inspect:
-
loose connections;
-
cracks;
-
chips;
-
deformation of the side rails;
-
traces of previous repairs;
-
corrosion of metal elements;
-
old holes.
A large headboard should not mask a weak frame. First restore the base, then add a new backrest.
Photos from four sides
Do:
-
general front view;
-
back part of the bed;
-
side joint of the side rail;
-
close-up of the fastening area.
Photos do not replace dimensions, but they help the designer understand the structure.
Wall size
Measure the free width from the nearest obstruction to the obstruction. Separately note:
-
sockets;
-
wall sconce;
-
switches;
-
moldings;
-
baseboard;
-
doors;
-
cabinets;
-
window sills.
Room diagonals and the path for bringing in
Door width is only the first step. A large headboard needs to be turned in the hallway and brought into the bedroom.
Four contours that need to be aligned
Checking the size becomes clearer if you don't try to reduce the entire bed to a single width. Draw four separate contours.
Mattress contour
This is a rectangle of 1600, 1800, or 2000 mm in width and the actual length of the mattress.
It shows the position of the sleeping area, but not the dimensions of the frame.
Existing frame contour
This includes the outer edges of the side rails, upholstery, legs, and other protruding elements.
It is this outline that needs to be matched with the overall width of KRVT-001-1.
Outline of the new headboard
Mark the full width and height of the selected option. Do not reduce the image to a conditional decorative part.
Outline of the free wall
It is bounded by corners, a wardrobe, a door, outlets, and other equipment.
The purchase is considered prepared when all four outlines exist on a single drawing.
Full-size fitting without the actual product
A large headboard is hard to imagine from numbers. Make a mock-up at a 1:1 scale.
Marking with painter's tape
On the wall, mark:
-
full width;
-
full height;
-
central axis;
-
top edge;
-
side edges;
-
position of the bed;
-
top of the mattress.
Painter's tape shows scale, but not depth.
Cardboard profile
To check the lower part, you can make a fragment about 64 mm thick. It will show how the baseboard or outlet affects the fit.
Photographic check
Photograph the markings:
-
from the entrance;
-
from the left side;
-
on the right side;
-
at the eye level of a seated person;
-
together with the bedside cabinets.
In the photo, it is easier to notice the shift of the center and the lack of free space.
Evening check
Look at the layout with the sconces and main light turned on. The shadows from the carved headboard will differ from the thin tape, but it will already become clear whether the lamps fall within its outline.
How to check the height of the headboard above the mattress
The buyer sees 1508 or 1553 mm in the product card and may think this is the height above the mattress. No: this is the full size of the product.
To determine the visible part, two marks are needed:
-
the height of the top edge of KRVT-001-1 from the floor after installation;
-
height of the top surface of the mattress from the floor.
Simplified formula:
Visible height above the mattress = top mark of the headboard − top mark of the mattress.
Suppose the top of the backrest after installation is at a height of 1553 mm, and the mattress is at a height of 650 mm. Then above the mattress remains:
1553 − 650 = 903 mm.
This is a conditional example. The actual lower mark of the backrest and the installation method may change the result.
Pillows cover part of the pattern
The pillow zone is added to the mattress height. If the decorative center is located low, part of it may be hidden daily. The visualization should show not an empty bed, but a regular set of bedding.
A tall headboard requires scale
A headboard taller than 1.5 m becomes an architectural part of the bedroom. It affects the placement of sconces, paintings, and panels. You cannot first order the headboard and then try to place already installed electrical wiring around it.
A low bed enhances verticality
If the platform frame is positioned low, KRVT-001-1 will be perceived as even taller. This can be expressive in a spacious room, but difficult in a small one.
Compatibility with another manufacturer's frame
KRVT-001-1 can be considered for a bed from another manufacturer, but compatibility does not arise automatically.
What must match
It is not necessary for all dimensions to be identical to the original KRVT-001 bed. The designer needs to create a reliable and neat connection. For this, the following are checked:
-
width;
-
height;
-
the position of the posts;
-
material;
-
load-bearing zones;
-
attachment points;
-
thickness of parts;
-
tool access;
-
possibility of disassembly;
-
finish of the joint.
What cannot be promised based on a photo
From the frontal image, it is impossible to determine whether the existing side rail will support the attachment of a large carved headboard. Internal joints, material thickness, and condition are not visible.
Possible schemes require calculation
The headboard can be connected:
-
to the bed frame;
-
to separate posts;
-
to a reinforced system;
-
to another structure developed by the furniture maker.
The article does not prescribe a specific option because the card does not describe universal installation. An individual scheme is needed for a finished bed.
Old headboard as a source of dimensions
If the headboard is being replaced, dismantle the old part only after securing:
-
overall dimensions;
-
mounting points;
-
thicknesses;
-
position of the side rails;
-
tightening method;
-
gap to the wall.
Photograph each stage. This data will help compare KRVT-001-1 with the existing assembly.
When it's better to buy a ready-made bed rather than a separate headboard
A separate headboard is rational when the frame is in good condition and can be adapted without questionable modifications. But sometimes it's more advantageous buy a classic solid wood bed in a ready-made, coordinated configuration.
A ready-made bed is more reasonable if
-
existing frame is weak or damaged;
-
width does not match any KRVT-001-1 size;
-
no way to create a reliable joint;
-
side rails and legs stylistically conflict with the carving;
-
complete replacement of the mattress support system is required;
-
the cost of rework approaches the cost of new furniture;
-
the design must be cohesive without transitional parts.
A separate headboard is more reasonable if
-
frame is sturdy and suitable in width;
-
mattress and base are satisfactory;
-
The bedroom is already designed for the existing bed;
-
A new decorative centerpiece is needed;
-
The mounting assembly can be developed in advance;
-
The buyer wants to keep some of the furniture;
-
A footboard is not required or is ordered separately.
The decision is made after a technical assessment, not just after comparing the price of the headboard and the full bed.
Headboard, full frame, or wall panel: don't mix up the product
| Solution | What the buyer receives | When it fits | Main risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| KRVT-001-1 | A separate carved back panel | The existing frame can be matched in size and installation | It is a mistake to consider it compatible with any bed |
| Full bed | Frame designed as a single model | Need new furniture without adapting the old frame | Not checking the completeness of the mattress and base |
| Furniture frame | Structural base for your own project | Furniture workshop is operating | Confusing the frame with a ready-made headboard |
| Wall decorative panel | Wall finish not necessarily related to the bed | Need a backdrop behind the bed | Mistake a decorative panel for a load-bearing furniture part |
| Handmade carved insert | Custom element per project | There is an experienced carver and technical documentation | Fail to achieve repeatability, geometry, and a reliable joint |
In the section bed frames and furniture frames made of solid wood different bases and parts are presented. The category name is broad, so always check the product type and article number.
Beech or oak: the material is chosen before calculating the finish
KRVT-001-1 is made of beech and oak. Both wood species are used for carved furniture frames, but they give different visual results and involve different preparation.
Beech for enamel
The beech version is available with gluing quality suitable for enamel. This blank is designed for opaque finishing, where the natural pattern of the lamellas does not become the main decorative effect.
Beech is reasonably considered when the headboard should be:
-
white;
-
milky;
-
gray;
-
colored according to the project palette;
-
visually unified with the painted frame;
-
part of a bedroom with upholstered finish.
The inscription "under enamel" does not mean a finished painted product. It describes the quality of veneering. Preparation, primer, and finish system are agreed upon separately.
Oak for tinting
Oak execution is offered for tinting. With this finish, the wood grain is preserved and emphasized.
Oak is chosen when the buyer wants:
-
to see pores and texture;
-
to get a semi-transparent color;
-
to connect the headboard with oak side rails;
-
use a natural or tinted shade;
-
emphasize the depth of the carving with the chiaroscuro of the wood grain.
Oak does not guarantee a perfect match with existing furniture. Even the same species varies in shade and texture. For an exact match, a finish sample and, if possible, a sample of the old frame are needed.
Comparison of beech and oak
| Criterion | Beech | Oak |
|---|---|---|
| Main scenario from the card | For enamel | For tinting |
| Visual task | Even covering color | Pronounced wood texture |
| Combination with an existing bed | Check the enamel shade and gloss | Check the wood species, tone, and grain |
| Selection error | Expect a uniform transparent finish without agreeing on re-gluing | Order oak and then completely cover the texture without economic sense |
| What to send to the manager | Color, gloss level, frame photo | Tone sample, wood photo, finishing direction |
| What to check before ordering | Surface preparation and finishing system | Test stain and match with other oak parts |
To choose oak, beech, and sanding quality, it is useful to decide in advance whether the coating will be opaque or semi-transparent.
'Standard' or 'Prestige'
Both options relate to sanding quality, not to material or size.
"Standard"
This is machine sanding. This option may require additional manual preparation before complex finishing, especially in carved relief.
"Standard" is chosen when:
-
the customer has their own finishing workshop;
-
the craftsman plans a full preparation cycle;
-
the surface will be additionally refined;
-
the budget is allocated in favor of subsequent manual work;
-
the condition of the part is checked before priming.
Do not send a "Standard" product straight to finishing just because it looks smooth from a distance. The thread is inspected under side lighting.
"Prestige"
This is detailed manual sanding. This option reduces the amount of additional surface work before finishing.
"Prestige" is especially appropriate when:
-
the relief will be covered with light enamel;
-
semi-transparent tinting is applied;
-
the headboard is examined from a close distance;
-
the finisher must not correct traces of machine processing;
-
it is required to shorten the preparatory stage.
Even when choosing "Prestige", the finishing technology remains separate. Sanding does not replace primer, test coating, and material compatibility control.
What is more profitable
One should compare not only the price of the item, but the entire cycle:
product cost + manual refinement + finishing + possible defect correction + workshop time.
A more affordable option may become more expensive after prolonged manual preparation. A higher initial price does not always mean a lower final cost if the finishing project is simple. For calculation, a specific craftsman's estimate is needed.
Finishing a carved backrest: the color is approved on a sample
A large backrest forms a significant color plane. A shade error is more noticeable than on a small furniture leg.
Opaque enamel
Before painting, the following are agreed upon:
-
color;
-
gloss level;
-
surface preparation;
-
preserving thread clarity;
-
treatment of ends;
-
painting of plywood back panels;
-
boundaries between materials;
-
assembly order.
A too thick layer can soften fine transitions of the ornament. The finisher must preserve the depth of the pattern.
Semi-transparent tinting
On oak, the tone is perceived differently on the flat surface, end grain, and in the carving recess. One sample on a smooth board is insufficient. A test application on wood with relief or on a control piece is useful.
Match with the finished frame
A photo on a phone does not give an accurate color. For matching, a physical sample is used:
-
removable bed part;
-
sample of old finish;
-
stain on the same wood species;
-
approved coverage map.
Materials for work
After agreeing on the technology, you can to buy materials for furniture installation and finishing. Product availability in the section does not imply automatic compatibility with the entire system: the craftsman verifies the instructions for each compound.
Assembly of the disassembled headboard
The card confirms disassembled delivery but does not publish a universal step-by-step assembly diagram or fastener kit. Therefore, a responsible approach starts with the drawing.
Before finishing or after
Different sequences are possible:
-
preliminary assembly for checking, disassembly, finishing, final assembly;
-
finishing individual parts, then assembly;
-
assembly of the frame, then overall finish.
The choice depends on the construction and coating. It is approved by the furniture maker and the finisher.
Protection of the face carving
During assembly, do not rest the carved part on an unprepared floor. Use a flat surface and protective materials that do not leave marks.
Plywood back panels
Before installation, check:
-
orientation;
-
match with the drawing;
-
quality of the ends;
-
future finishing;
-
absence of skew;
-
gaps;
-
connection with the carved part.
Fastening
Do not buy screws, brackets, or plates by guesswork. Manufacturer or designer data is needed. The fasteners must match the thickness of the parts, the load, and the material of the existing bed.
Geometry control
After preliminary assembly, measure:
-
total width;
-
height;
-
diagonals;
-
flatness;
-
symmetry;
-
Position of the backrests.
Only then connect the backrest to the bed.
Test assembly before painting
Preliminary assembly is needed not to permanently secure the product, but to detect discrepancies before the expensive finish is applied.
Assemble the backrest on a flat surface
The base must be dost
What to buy together with KRVT-001-1
| What to add | Why | When especially needed | What to check |
| Footboard KRVTC-001-2 | Finish the bed from the front | When assembling the full classic frame | Size, material, sanding, and fit with the side rails |
| Furniture frame or side rails | Create a new structure around the backrest | If the old frame does not fit | Load-bearing scheme and working dimensions |
| Finishing materials | Prepare beech for enamel or oak for tinting | When ordering a blank without a finished finish | System compatibility |
| Installation materials | Connect parts according to the project | When adapting to an existing bed | Base type and fastener calculation |
| Drawing | Check dimensions and interface zones | Always before manufacturing transition parts | Current version |
| Bedroom design project | Connect the bed with the wall, lighting, and nightstands | For complex or large interiors | Actual room dimensions |
| Packaging and delivery | Protect a large carved detail | For shipping to another city | Route, cost, and pickup conditions |
| Control sample | Coordinate the color | When combining with an old bed | Wood species, preparation, tone, and gloss |
Completeness must be reflected in the invoice. Purchasing "as one set" does not mean that all listed items are automatically included.
How not to confuse KRVT-001-1 with similar solutions
With the full Versailles bed
Versailles 001-001 is a ready-made classic model with its own dimensions and construction. KRVT-001-1 is a separate headboard for project assembly or adaptation.
With the idea of the KRVT-001 bed
In the section STAVROS beds Interior solutions and application options are shown. They help visualize the final result, but the visualization does not replace the product card, dimensions, and completeness.
With the KRVTC-001-2 footboard
The footboard is lower and has a different dimension. It is placed at the foot end and does not replace the back headboard.
With decorative overlay
The overlay decorates an existing surface. KRVT-001-1 forms the headboard frame with a carved part and plywood back panels.
With a soft wall panel
The soft panel can be attached to the wall and not be part of the bed. KRVT-001-1 belongs to furniture frames.
With an arbitrary carved frame
A frame for another purpose does not have confirmed geometry of a bed headboard. Matching width does not make it a replacement.
Practical purchase scenarios
Metal bed without a headboard
First, assess whether it is safe to connect a large wooden structure to a metal frame. A design for a transition joint will be required. Simple drilling and bolting without calculation is unacceptable.
If adaptation turns out to be complex, consider a separate support system or a new wooden frame.
Wooden bed with a low headboard
The old headboard can be dismantled after fixing all dimensions. Check whether its posts are part of the load-bearing frame. If so, removal may compromise stability.
KRVT-001-1 should not just cover old holes, but replace the structural function.
The frame is made by a carpenter
Before sending the frame into production, give the headboard drawing to the foreman. It is easier to design the frame for a finished backrest than to redo it after assembly.
A mattress 1600 mm wide, but the bed is wider than 1900 mm
The narrowest KRVT-001-1 option has a width of 1864 mm. It may be narrower than the frame. Do not automatically switch to the 2064 mm size: first check the proportions and connection points.
A mattress 1800 mm wide and thick soft side rails
Soft upholstery increases the outer dimension. A 2064 mm backrest may provide less side overhang than expected. Measure the bed with the finished upholstery.
A mattress 2000 mm wide in a small bedroom
A 2264 mm backrest takes up a significant wall. Make a full-scale layout and check nightstands, wardrobe doors, and walkways.
Replacing the headboard after renovation
Consider already installed outlets, lights, and moldings. Sometimes choosing a smaller size allows you to keep the electrical fixtures; sometimes they need to be moved before delivery.
The bed stands against a wall with a high baseboard
The baseboard pushes the lower part of the backrest away. This creates a tilt or gap. The solution is developed in advance: the baseboard section, bed position, or mounting design is adjusted.
Project for a hotel
For several identical rooms, a unified size chart, finish sample, and test assembly are required. First, one item is ordered and approved, then the batch is launched.
Restoration of an old bed
Do not try to make KRVT-001-1 an exact copy of a historical piece without design verification. Match the style, scale, wood species, and construction. Individual adaptation may be required.
Bedroom with a low ceiling
A headboard of 1508–1553 mm may visually approach the ceiling cornice. On the layout, show not only the backrest but the entire wall.
Bed under a window
Check the windowsill, radiator, curtains, and access to the window. A tall backrest may block the functional area.
The bed is not centered on the wall
The headboard is wider than the mattress, so the asymmetry will become more noticeable. First, determine whether the backrest should be centered relative to the bed, the wall, or the free space between furniture.
A decorative molding runs along the wall
The molding may hit the back surface or pass through the carving contour. The finished headboard should not be trimmed to fit the wall profile. It is easier to change the wall layout in advance.
How to fit a carved headboard into a bedroom without a distracted conversation about decor
The purpose of the article is to help buy a specific backrest, but interior parameters directly affect the size.
The wall must support the scale
KRVT-001-1 is visually wider than the mattress. This creates a complete silhouette if there is enough free space on the sides. When the backrest almost touches the wardrobe or corner, the carving looks cramped.
Nightstands are checked by width and height
If the backrest extends beyond the frame, its side parts may end up behind the nightstands. This is acceptable when planned in the project, but the opening of drawers and outlets must be checked.
Sconces are placed after marking the backrest
Lights should not fall on the carving or be hidden behind upper elements. Coordinates are taken from the actual center of the bed.
Wall decor should not conflict with the carving
Moldings and panels around a large headboard are designed as a background. If they are already installed, the size is chosen taking into account the finished frames.
Floor and frame color
An oak backrest with visible texture can tie the bed to a wooden floor. Beech under enamel can support painted baseboards or furniture. Matching is checked on a sample, not by color name.
For a complex room, it is useful to order a bedroom design project, providing the designer with the dimensions of the existing bed and the selected KRVT-001-1.
What not to do from scratch
A ready-made carved backrest relieves the furniture maker of the most complex artistic part of the project.
Not required:
- developing the ornament from scratch;
- manually cut out duplicate elements;
- assemble a decorative frame from random overlays;
- search for individual fragments that match in scale;
- copy the pattern from a photograph;
- produce a trial full-size carving;
- fit decorative parts already on the assembled bed.
It is wiser to direct the freed-up time to the precise frame, finishing, fastening, and assembly.
The commercial path looks like this:
finished KRVT-001-1 → drawing → checking the existing bed → choosing beech or oak → "Standard" or "Prestige" → finishing → footboard if necessary → delivery → installation.
How to calculate the full cost of remodeling a bed
The price of a wooden headboard is only one line in the estimate. Comparing a separate headboard with a new bed should be done based on the full project.
The estimate includes
- KRVT-001-1;
- footboard, if required;
- connection project;
- reinforcement of the existing frame;
- surface preparation;
- finishing;
- mounting materials;
- assembly;
- delivery;
- carrying in;
- relocation of sockets or wall lamps;
- possible rework of the baseboard;
- restoration of an old bed.
Why cheap adaptation can become expensive
If the existing frame does not fit, transition posts, new side rails, or a change to the base will be required. At some point, a separate headboard ceases to be an economical update and becomes building a new bed around old parts.
When a separate purchase remains rational
- the frame is sturdy;
- the dimensions are close;
- the finish is compatible;
- no electrical relocation is required;
- the mounting assembly is simple and proven;
- footboard is not required;
- delivery route is free.
When you need to recalculate a finished bed
- the side rails change;
- a new base is required;
- the old legs do not fit;
- a full repaint is needed;
- the frame has to be reinforced;
- complex non-standard fasteners are required.
Delivery of a large carved headboard
Even a disassembled product requires a pre-planned route.
What to measure in the house
- the front door;
- the vestibule;
- the elevator;
- the stair landing;
- the flights;
- the corridor turns;
- the bedroom door;
- free space for unpacking.
Do not compare only the width of the door with the width of the headboard. The item can be carried at an angle, but turning requires diagonal space.
What to report when calculating
- city;
- address;
- floor;
- availability of a freight elevator;
- entry restrictions;
- need for additional protection;
- desired delivery method;
- possibility to accept oversized cargo.
Terms and cost are specified in the section Delivery of STAVROS products across Russia.
Package acceptance
Before signing documents, inspect:
- external damage;
- hard corners;
- impact marks;
- wetting;
- integrity of fixation.
After unpacking, check the carved part and back panels. Do not start sanding or painting until acceptance is complete.
Storage before installation
Large elements must not be placed on an uneven surface or leaned in a way that causes bending. The location must be dry, clean, and protected from construction work.
What documents to prepare
Drawing KRVT-001-1
On the page you can download catalogs and product drawings. For a specific backrest, an actual file with dimensions and details is needed.
Drawing of the existing bed
If it is not available, the furniture maker performs a measurement diagram.
Mounting diagram
It shows:
- connection points;
- frame material;
- fasteners;
- reinforcements;
- access to tightening;
- disassemblability;
- gaps to the wall.
Finishing map
It includes:
- breed;
- quality of re-gluing;
- sanding;
- color;
- gloss;
- preparation;
- finish;
- control sample.
Room layout
Need wall, sockets, sconce, cabinets, baseboard, and delivery path.
Acceptance KRVT-001-1 before assembly
Check the article number
The documents must use the consistent designation KRVT-001-1. The technical URL may contain the variant KRVTC, so pay special attention to checking the count and size.
Measure the kit
Verify the selected dimension:
- 1864 × 1508 × 64 mm;
- 2064 × 1553 × 64 mm;
- 2264 × 1553 × 64 mm.
Recalculate the parts
There must be one carved part and two plywood back panels.
Check the material
Beech and oak cannot be distinguished only by the color of the raw surface. Check the marking and documents.
Check the sanding
The invoice must state "Standard" or "Prestige".
Inspect the thread
Look for:
- chips;
- cracks;
- creased edges;
- impact marks;
- contamination;
- damage to packaging.
Do not start finishing until acceptance is complete.
After drilling, sanding, or painting, it is much harder to determine the origin of a defect.
Acceptance after finishing
Color
Compare the headboard with the approved sample in daylight and artificial light.
Gloss
One shade looks different on matte and glossy surfaces.
Relief
The finish should not hide the fine lines of the carving.
Ends
Check all visible edges, including back areas that are reflected in a mirror or visible from the side.
Back panels
They should match the overall concept in color and quality.
Geometry
After finishing, re-measure the diagonals and flatness.
Compatibility with the bed
Before final installation, reattach the headboard to the frame. The thickness of the coating and additional soft layers can change the fit.
Mistakes when buying a separate headboard
Mistake 1. Choosing the size based on the mattress
A 1600 mm mattress does not automatically mean compatibility with the 1864 mm option.
Solution: measure the outer frame and mounting areas.
Error 2: Treating 1864 mm as the seating width
This is the full dimension of the backrest.
Solution: use the drawing.
Error 3: Not measuring the mattress height
Pillows cover a significant part of the thread.
Solution: create a side view of the finished bed.
Error 4: Ordering a backrest wider than the free wall
There is room in the room for the mattress, but no room for the side extension.
Solution: mark the outline on the wall.
Mistake 5. Ignore the baseboard
The bottom of the headboard does not fit the wall.
Solution: show the wall profile in the section.
Mistake 6. Not checking the outlets
Electrical points end up behind the wooden part.
Solution: mark them on the elevation.
Mistake 7. Assuming the product is assembled
The buyer does not prepare a space for assembly.
Solution: account for one carved part and two back panels.
Error 8. Expect fasteners for any bed
Universal mounting not confirmed.
Solution: develop the connection separately.
Error 9. Attach the headboard only to a weak rail
The connection is not designed for the part's dimensions.
Solution: involve a furniture maker or designer.
Error 10. Drill the carved part in place
The front surface and geometry are damaged.
Solution: drill only according to the approved scheme.
Error 11. Choose beech for transparent finishing without checking the glue joint
The contrast of the lamellas becomes visible.
Solution: match the quality of re-gluing with the coating.
Mistake 12. Choose oak and cover it with opaque enamel without calculation.
The buyer pays for material whose texture is not used.
Solution: compare both configurations.
Mistake 13. Confuse "Standard" with readiness for finishing.
Machine sanding may require manual refinement.
Solution: evaluate the full finishing cycle.
Mistake 14. Order "Prestige" but do not agree on the coating.
Manual sanding does not determine color and preparation.
Solution: create a finishing map.
Error 15. Painting parts on different days without a control sample
The carved part and back panels differ in tone.
Solution: one sample and one batch.
Error 16. Assembling after final finishing without a trial fit
Finished surfaces have to be reworked.
Solution: perform a preliminary assembly.
Error 17. Using a photo instead of an article number
A different backrest ends up in the order.
Solution: write KRVT-001-1 and the full size.
Error 18. Not noticing different spellings of the article number
In the card, URL, and part of the description, a variant with the letter C occurs.
Solution: before payment, fix a single name and the main URL.
Error 19. Switching to a duplicate card
Internal links and documents are distributed between two addresses.
Solution: use the main path of the solid wood products section.
Error 20. Buying a footboard without checking the size
The front and back headboards do not assemble with the side rails.
Solution: design the bed as a whole.
Error 21. Considering the footboard mandatory
A high headboard may not fit the layout.
Solution: assess the walkways and usage scenario.
Error 22. Ordering a headboard after the side rails are made
Connection points do not align.
Solution: first obtain the headboard drawing.
Error 23. Not measuring the carry-in path
The part cannot be turned in the hallway.
Solution: check the diagonals.
Error 24. Unpacking in a cramped room
The carving gets damaged during movement.
Solution: prepare a free area.
Error 25. Lift the backrest by the thin carved sections
The ornament receives unintended load.
Solution: move the product by the load-bearing parts.
Error 26. Lean the product against a wall without protection
Scratches or distortion appear.
Solution: use a flat support and soft pads.
Error 27. Leave unfinished edges
The finish looks incomplete.
Solution: include all visible surfaces in the finishing map.
Error 28. Matching color by screen
Enamel or tint does not match the bed.
Solution: use a physical color sample.
Error 29. Not checking gloss
The same color looks different in matte and glossy finishes.
Solution: approve the shade and gloss level together.
Error 30. Ordering a large batch for a hotel without a test installation
The error repeats in all rooms.
Solution: first assemble one sample.
Error 31. Considering plywood backs as finished upholstery
Additional work is required after delivery.
Solution: determine the finish in advance.
Error 32. Assign wall mounting to the product
The card does not provide a universal scheme.
Solution: do not use an unconfirmed method.
Error 33. Not checking the height of the ceiling cornice
The top of the thread conflicts with the wall finish.
Solution: create a full-size layout.
Error 34. Installing a sconce before choosing the size
The lights have to be moved.
Solution: first draw the headboard outline.
Mistake 35. Considering a separate headboard a simpler purchase than a bed
Technical integration requires design work.
Solution: compare the full estimate of two scenarios.
Mistake 36. Not specifying the production time
Mattress repair and delivery are tied to an unconfirmed date.
Solution: check the lead time for the selected configuration.
Mistake 37. Not agreeing on packaging
Large carving travels without the necessary protection.
Solution: discuss the delivery type and route.
Error 38. Not checking the set upon receipt
One of the back panels is discovered later.
Solution: compare one carved part and two plywood elements.
Error 39. Starting installation before acceptance
After drilling, it is difficult to determine the origin of the damage.
Solution: first inspection, then processing.
Error 40. Trying to change the fixed width on the object
The carved structure loses symmetry.
Solution: choose one of three sizes or agree on a separate project.
Error 41. Not accounting for the soft upholstery of the side rails
The finished frame becomes wider than the original wooden base.
Solution: measure the fully upholstered bed.
Mistake 42. Center the headboard on the wall, and the bed in the room
The axes diverge.
Solution: choose one compositional base.
Mistake 43. Not checking the opening of the nightstands
A wide headboard interferes with drawers or outlets.
Solution: create a general layout.
Mistake 44. Placing the bed right next to the heating appliance
The headboard blocks access and changes operating conditions.
Solution: check engineering zones.
Error 45. Order finishing materials before choosing the wood species.
The system does not match the wood and the designed finish.
Solution: first beech or oak, then coating.
Who is KRVT-001-1 suitable for?
A carved headboard is worth considering if:
- the bed already exists, but the construction allows a new headboard;
- a standalone product is needed, not a full bed;
- one of the three sizes fits;
- the bedroom can accommodate a height of more than 1.5 m;
- the buyer is ready to receive the drawing;
- installation is designed before ordering;
- beech under enamel or oak under tinting is selected;
- the quality of sanding is agreed with the finisher;
- there is space for assembly;
- the path for bringing in is checked;
- expressive classical carving is required;
- the footboard can be added if necessary.
When it's better to choose another solution
Another option is more rational if:
- the frame cannot be reinforced;
- no size fits;
- the wall is occupied by windows or built-in furniture;
- a tall headboard conflicts with the ceiling;
- a soft panel without a carved wooden frame is required;
- the bedroom is too small for a side extension;
- the delivery path does not allow parts to be brought in;
- the buyer is not ready for separate finishing and assembly;
- the old bed requires complete replacement;
- a modern minimalist design is needed;
- a non-standard width is required in a single unit, and the change is not confirmed;
- The cost of adaptation is higher than a ready-made bed.
An honest assessment before ordering is better than trying to adapt a large product at any cost.
How to place an order without missing parameters
A working specification might look like this:

How to order on STAVROS
First open the main card and select the size, material, and finish. Then prepare the dimensions of the existing bed.
Before launching the product into production, provide the manager with:
- general frame drawing;
- photos of fastening areas;
- mattress width;
- height of the sleeping area;
- photo of the wall;
- selected finish;
- delivery access data.
For non-standard joining, it's better order a bedroom design project or the working diagram of the furniture unit. The project should not be limited to a beautiful visualization: real dimensions and construction are needed.
After approval, you can order a carved bed headboard made of solid wood, including the footboard and materials in the same invoice, if they are required.
Frequently asked questions about purchasing KRVT-001-1
Can I buy only the headboard without the bed?
Yes. KRVT-001-1 is sold as a separate item. The buyer chooses the size, material, and quality of sanding.
Will KRVT-001-1 fit a frame from another manufacturer?
Possibly, but only after checking the dimensions, material, and connection scheme. Automatic compatibility is not confirmed.

A separate headboard is purchased according to a drawing, not just the width of the mattress.
KRVT-001-1 allows you to transform an existing bed without the mandatory purchase of a full sleep set. The buyer receives a real separate furniture piece: a carved part and two plywood back panels, available in three sizes, made of beech or oak, with "Standard" or "Prestige" sanding.
Before ordering, you need to compare not one, but four layers: mattress size, outer frame dimensions, structural connection points, and the free space of the bedroom. Then the wood species, surface quality, finish, footboard, and delivery are selected.
Do not buy a headboard just because its width seems close to the mattress size. First, mark the product on the wall, get a drawing, show the bed structure to the furniture maker, and record the full configuration in the invoice.
STAVROS company offers the opportunity to purchase a ready-made carved headboard, receive technical materials, assemble it with other furniture elements, and order Contact us to confirm shipping to your destination. This route is more reliable than a random purchase: compatibility is checked first, then the product is configured, and only after that production, finishing, and installation begin.
