Dimensions and Options
Description
KPU-003 is a polyurethane decorative molding with a repeating geometric ornament, available in two profile sizes: 20 × 5 mm (0.79 × 0.20 in) and 30 × 8 mm (1.18 × 0.31 in), each 2000 mm (78.74 in) long. Its structured repeating relief creates a clear architectural rhythm without the botanical forms typical of floral or acanthus moldings.
This geometric decorative molding is suitable for wall panels, framed compositions, furniture fronts, mirrors, door details, architectural borders, and layered molding systems. The two coordinated sizes allow the same geometric language to be used at different scales—from fine interior detailing to more visible wall and panel decoration.

Braid-Pattern Decorative Molding for Furniture, Doors, Panels, and Interior Details
KPU-003 is a decorative molding with a repeating braid pattern designed for projects where a plain linear profile would look too simple but a dense floral ornament would be too elaborate.
The ornament consists of overlapping rounded links arranged in a continuous interlaced sequence. This produces the visual effect of a woven or braided band extending along the full length of the molding.
KPU-003 is currently available in two polyurethane sizes:
- 20 × 5 × 2000 mm / 0.79 × 0.20 × 78.74 in
- 30 × 8 × 2000 mm / 1.18 × 0.31 × 78.74 in
The live product card confirms both configurations and the polyurethane material. Ставрос Декор
The two sizes allow the same ornamental language to be used at different scales. The smaller version can provide fine furniture or panel detailing, while the larger profile produces a more visible architectural border.
For other patterns and dimensions, browse the STAVROS decorative polyurethane molding and trim.
What Is a Braid-Pattern Molding?
A braid ornament is based on forms that appear to cross, overlap, or weave around one another.
STAVROS describes this ornamental family as interwoven ribbons, cords, or shoots that create a continuous rhythm of interlacing. Ставрос Декор
KPU-003 follows the same visual principle, but its ornament is compact and strongly repeated. Rounded links overlap in sequence, producing an uninterrupted decorative band.
This makes the profile different from:
- beaded molding;
- rope molding;
- floral molding;
- geometric plain trim;
- Acanthus Leaf molding;
- Reed & Ribbon molding.
A bead profile is read as separate rounded elements.
A rope profile resembles one twisted cord.
KPU-003 is read as interlaced links forming a braid.
For this reason, Braid-Pattern Decorative Molding is more precise than simply calling the product decorative molding or carved molding.
Why I Would Not Use “Braided Molding” Alone as the Main Name
There is real U.S. search demand around:
braid trim — about 480/month
braided trim — about 480/month
but these searches are mixed with upholstery, textile braid, passementerie, and furniture edging.
Architectural examples using braid trim do exist, including decorative wood molding for furniture and door restoration, but the term by itself is not sufficiently specific to architectural polyurethane. Naturtrend Impex
Therefore the cleaner naming structure is:
KPU-003 Braid-Pattern Decorative Molding
while the lower text naturally uses:
braid trim
braided trim
braid-pattern molding
polyurethane decorative molding
ornamental molding
This lets us capture the relevant semantic cluster without making the H1 sound like textile trim.
Two KPU-003 Sizes for Different Decorative Scales
One of the advantages of KPU-003 is the availability of two coordinated profile sizes.
KPU-003 20 × 5 mm
The smaller profile measures:
0.79 in wide × 0.20 in deep × 78.74 in long
This version is suitable for:
- furniture fronts;
- cabinet doors;
- smaller wall panels;
- mirrors;
- door inserts;
- secondary decorative frames;
- layered molding compositions.
The relatively shallow 5 mm projection keeps the braid pattern refined.
It is especially useful where the ornament should remain visible at close range without becoming the dominant feature of the surface.
KPU-003 30 × 8 mm
The larger version measures:
1.18 in wide × 0.31 in deep × 78.74 in long
This profile creates a more noticeable decorative border and deeper shadows.
It can work well for:
- larger furniture fronts;
- medium and large wall panels;
- decorative doors;
- mirror surrounds;
- stronger architectural borders;
- more visible layered compositions.
Using the two sizes within the same project also makes it possible to repeat the same braid ornament at different scales.
Braid-Pattern Molding for Furniture Fronts
Furniture is one of the most natural applications for KPU-003.
The current STAVROS Description specifically recommends the profile for furniture fronts and door panels. Ставрос Декор
The molding can be used on:
- wardrobes;
- cabinet doors;
- display cabinets;
- built-in furniture;
- decorative side panels;
- furniture inserts;
- architectural cabinetry.
A typical furniture composition might use:
main furniture frame → KPU-003 braid-pattern molding → central panel
The outer frame controls the geometry.
KPU-003 adds interlaced ornamental detail.
The center remains comparatively calm.
This allows a flat furniture surface to gain more decorative depth without requiring a wide floral or leaf profile.
Braid Trim for Cabinet Doors
The smaller 20 × 5 mm version is particularly useful as detailed furniture trim.
It can form a narrow frame around:
- recessed panels;
- painted cabinet fronts;
- glass inserts;
- decorative central fields.
The larger 30 × 8 mm version works better where the braid should become more visible.
When several cabinet doors appear side by side, keep the same:
- frame size;
- distance from the panel edge;
- pattern direction;
- corner logic.
A strongly repeated braid makes misalignment more noticeable than smooth trim.
Decorative Molding for Door Panels
KPU-003 can also be used on door surfaces.
Suitable applications include:
- paneled interior doors;
- decorative rectangular inserts;
- glazed-panel borders;
- custom door fronts;
- portal details.
The molding should normally be treated as decorative door-panel molding, not as the main casing around the doorway.
A door composition can therefore combine:
functional casing around the opening
with:
KPU-003 braid-pattern molding on the door leaf or inset panel.
This keeps the architectural function and ornament separate.
Braid-Pattern Molding for Wall Panels
KPU-003 can also be used in decorative wall-panel systems.
Depending on the chosen profile size, it may serve as:
- the main border of a smaller wall panel;
- an inner ornamental frame;
- a secondary line inside a larger molding composition;
- a decorative border around wallpaper or a mirror.
For example:
wide smooth molding → narrow gap → KPU-003 braid-pattern trim → central wall panel
This creates three levels:
- architectural frame;
- ornamental detail;
- open central surface.
For larger structural profiles, browse STAVROS polyurethane molding profiles.
Why the Braid Pattern Works in Layered Frames
KPU-003 is particularly useful as a supporting ornamental profile.
The braid is visually active but relatively narrow.
That makes it ideal for contrast with a broader, smoother molding.
For example:
plain outer profile → KPU-003 interlaced border → decorative panel
The eye first reads the architecture of the outer frame and then notices the detailed braid at closer range.
This hierarchy often looks more refined than using several highly ornamental moldings at equal scale.
Braid Ornament in Classic Interiors
Interlaced patterns have a long decorative history.
STAVROS notes braid motifs in Romanesque decoration, Celtic ornament, Russian architectural traditions, and some Art Nouveau applications. Ставрос Декор
In a classic interior, KPU-003 can be coordinated with:
- paneled walls;
- decorative doors;
- traditional furniture;
- mirrors;
- architectural moldings;
- polyurethane decorative elements.
Because the braid pattern already has strong visual movement, surrounding profiles can often remain comparatively simple.
KPU-003 in Neoclassical Interiors
KPU-003 can also work in a more restrained neoclassical interior.
The regular interlaced pattern introduces ornament without the large leaves and scrolling foliage of botanical molding.
Possible uses include:
- an inner wall-panel border;
- furniture fronts painted in one color;
- decorative door panels;
- mirror frames;
- one selected architectural detail.
Painting the molding and substrate in the same color reduces contrast.
The interlaced pattern then appears primarily through light and shadow, making the ornament quieter and more architectural.
KPU-003 in Transitional Interiors
The braid pattern can also bridge traditional and contemporary elements.
A transitional room might combine:
- simple painted walls;
- contemporary furniture;
- restrained panel molding;
- KPU-003 as one ornamental accent.
The pattern brings craftsmanship and detail without requiring a heavily historical floral design.
This can make KPU-003 easier to integrate into modern-classic cabinetry and interior doors.
KPU-003 vs. Rope Molding
Braid molding and rope molding are related visually but should remain separate product types.
Rope molding usually resembles one continuous twisted cord.
Braid-pattern molding creates the impression of several forms crossing or linking together.
Therefore:
KPU-125 → Rope Molding
KPU-003 → Braid-Pattern Decorative Molding
This distinction gives each SKU its own semantic identity.
KPU-003 vs. Beaded Molding
KPU-003 should also remain separate from KPU-006, KPU-020, and KPU-105.
Those profiles are based on repeated rounded beads.
KPU-003 uses overlapping links that create a woven effect.
Therefore:
KPU-006 / KPU-020 / KPU-105 → Beaded Molding
KPU-003 → Braid-Pattern Decorative Molding
The presence of rounded shapes does not make every profile beaded molding.
The structure of the entire repeat matters.
KPU-003 vs. Geometric Molding
KPU-003 does have a highly regular and structured repeat, so geometric ornament can be used descriptively.
However, Geometric Molding is too broad to be the main product name.
Its identifying characteristic is the woven braid effect.
Therefore:
Braid-Pattern Decorative Molding — primary
geometric repeating ornament — secondary description.
This better differentiates KPU-003 from true geometric profiles built around zigzags, steps, chevrons, or meanders.

Choosing Between 20 mm and 30 mm KPU-003
Choose the 20 × 5 mm version when the project needs:
- finer furniture detailing;
- compact wall panels;
- a subtle inner border;
- lower projection;
- less visual weight.
Choose the 30 × 8 mm version when the project needs:
- a more visible braid;
- stronger relief;
- larger panels;
- more substantial door or furniture detailing;
- greater visibility from a normal room distance.
The ornament is the same family, but the difference in scale is noticeable once the molding is installed over several feet.
Why Full-Scale Testing Matters
Close-up product photographs make ornamental profiles appear larger than they actually are.
Before ordering, mark:
20 mm / 0.79 in
and:
30 mm / 1.18 in
on the actual furniture, door, mirror, or wall surface.
This immediately shows which profile fits the intended composition more naturally.
For furniture, check how much central panel area remains.
For walls, check the relationship between molding width and overall panel size.
Pattern Alignment at Longitudinal Joints
KPU-003 has a continuous braid pattern, so joints should preserve the interlaced rhythm.
A tight physical connection may still look wrong if:
- two links overlap unnaturally;
- the braid repeat changes spacing;
- a rounded element is cut at an awkward point.
Before final cutting:
- place adjacent sections together;
- identify the repeating braid;
- choose a natural joint point;
- mark both pieces;
- dry-fit;
- inspect the ornament from normal viewing distance.
This is particularly important on long furniture fronts and wall borders.
Planning Corners With Braid-Pattern Molding
Corners require similar attention.
For a rectangular frame:
- establish the complete finished dimensions;
- make one test miter;
- inspect how the braid reaches the corner;
- compare the opposite side;
- repeat the same cutting logic.
Perfect pattern symmetry may not always be possible at all four corners.
The goal is balanced ornament without obviously broken or compressed links.
How Much KPU-003 Should You Order?
Each KPU-003 molding is 2000 mm / 78.74 in long.
Begin with the actual required perimeter or linear length.
Then allow for:
- miter cuts;
- braid-pattern matching;
- longitudinal joints;
- offcuts;
- repeated frames;
- installation reserve.
If several identical furniture fronts or wall panels are being created, make a cutting plan before ordering.
A leftover section may have sufficient physical length but an unsuitable pattern phase for the next visible joint.
Why the Existing Lower Text Should Be Replaced
The current lower page still uses:
“carved molding KPU-003”
and contains generic statements about moisture, temperature changes, longevity, promotions, and product quality. It also uses an outdated size. Ставрос Декор
That text does not explain what makes KPU-003 specifically different from the other 40 KPU profiles.
The new page should instead concentrate on:
Braid-Pattern Decorative Molding
braid trim / braided trim
polyurethane decorative molding

furniture molding
plus commercial SKU intent:
buy KPU-003

order KPU-003 online.
Combining KPU-003 With Other STAVROS Moldings
KPU-003 works best when the braid pattern has a clear visual role.
For example:
wide smooth molding → KPU-003 braid-pattern detail → central panel
or:
plain furniture border → KPU-003 ornamental molding → inset panel
For broad structural profiles, browse STAVROS polyurethane moldings.
For bead, rope, Reed & Ribbon, Acanthus, floral, geometric, and other patterns, compare the full decorative polyurethane molding and trim collection.
Buy KPU-003 Braid-Pattern Decorative Molding
KPU-003 is available from STAVROS as a polyurethane braid-pattern decorative molding in two sizes for furniture fronts, door panels, wall panels, mirrors, framed details, and layered interior compositions.
Customers looking to buy KPU-003 decorative molding can select the required profile size, check the current KPU-003 price, review availability, and order directly from the product page.
For this SKU I would use the following semantic hierarchy:
KPU-003 Braid-Pattern Decorative Molding

furniture molding
while broader decorative molding, polyurethane molding, and decorative trim molding remain supporting terms.
