The company ordered the pens for us when we ordered furniture. But I decided to write a review personally because they are amazing! Stylish, expensive, high-quality!
More than 20 years on the market
The company's success began in 2002, when two artists — Andrey Ragozin and Evgeny Tsapko — created a small creative workshop for producing wooden carved items. The masters' work was quickly noticed, and within a year they were invited to participate in the reconstruction of the Konstantinovskiy Palace in Strelna.
After the success of this project, the company focused on recreating palace interiors, furniture, church furnishings, and carved decorations in various artistic styles. They worked with cultural heritage sites: The Hermitage, the Alexandrovsky Palace, the Troitsko-Izmaylovsky Cathedral, the Sheremetyevsky Mansion, and many others.
The masters' task — and still is — to create wooden items with the highest level of detail and understanding of every element, based on impeccable knowledge of artistic laws and interior styles.

Decorative element MLD-4-2.1 made of solid wood
There are details that don't catch the eye immediately—but they're precisely what defines the final impression of an interior or piece of furniture. That moment when you look at a cabinet front or wall panel and think: 'Done with intelligence.'Decorative element MLD-4-2.1—a carved wooden overlay is exactly that kind of detail. A compact, neat, expressive ornamental accent measuring 198 × 208 × 18 mm, made of beech or oak, created as an overlay formolding MLD-004. This is the central decorative piece of the molding system in series 004—a focal point, proportionate to the profile, organic within the system.
Buy decorative element MLD-4-2.1made of wood in the STAVROS catalog in the sectionDecor for Moldingwith a choice between beech and oak, suitable for use under enamel, with delivery throughout Russia. The product is suitable for wall panels, furniture fronts, door panels, decorative frames, and any classic or neoclassical interior compositions where a molding frame requires a finished central ornament.
Decorative element MLD-4-2.1 for moldings, furniture, and wall compositions
What is a 'neat classical accent'? It's not a lavish Baroque ornament occupying half the frontal plane. It's not a modest strip of profile without ornamental detailing. It's a focal carved node in the center of a molding frame—noticeable enough to create a visual focus, yet restrained enough not to overwhelm the system around it.
Overlay for molding MLD-004with article number MLD-4-2.1 — precisely this product. Its proportions, relief scale, and decorative language of the ornament are designed for series 004: no more and no less than what the MLD-004 profile requires to create a complete framing system.
Place in the decorative hierarchy of the series 004 system
A molding frame is not a random set of parts. It is a system with internal logic. The MLD-004 molding strips form the perimeter of the frame. Corner elements close the four corner points. The central overlay MLD-4-2.1 occupies the horizontal axis of the frame — the position where the eye stops first when looking at any rectangular decorative system.
Without a central ornamental accent, the horizontal molding strip is just a line. With MLD-4-2.1 — it is the decorative axis of the system, which has a semantic center.Decor for Moldingseries 004 is built precisely according to this logic: each component in its place, each position is closed.
For what tasks was MLD-4-2.1 designed
a decorative element for the moldingMLD-4-2.1 is in demand where:
-
The molding system on MLD-004 is used for wall panels, furniture fronts, door portals, decorative framings
-
A neat, non-monumental central ornamental accent is required — compact in size, expressive in relief
-
The project is implemented in a classical or neoclassical style, where carved wooden decor is the linguistic norm
-
A component for the final finish is needed: enamel, tint, oil, varnish
-
The customer or furniture maker wants a complete system where the molding and central decor work in ensemble
a decorative element for furnitureand walls made of natural wood MLD-4-2.1 — this is a professional system component, available for order individually or in batches.
Ornament and its decorative character
The carved ornament MLD-4-2.1 belongs to the classical vegetal tradition: leaves, smooth shoots, symmetrical scrolls — motifs recognizable in classical European decor regardless of the specific national school. Symmetry relative to the vertical axis of the element is a mandatory property of the central decorative overlay: it is symmetry that creates a sense of balance and completeness in the frame system.
The ornament MLD-4-2.1 is executed cleanly and precisely: the carving details — leaves, their veins, transitions of forms — are made without blurred boundaries. This is a consequence of the correct choice of wood species (beech or oak) and professional manufacturing technology.
Size 198 × 208 × 18 mm for neat decorative solutions
One hundred ninety-eight millimeters in width, two hundred eight in height — almost square proportions with a slight vertical elongation. Relief eighteen millimeters. This is a compactly scaled element — smaller than large central accents with a relief of 25–33 mm, but quite proportionate to the MLD-004 profile and the tasks for which the 004 series was designed.
Why this size is optimal for the 004 series
Decorative element 198 × 208 × 18 mmDesigned for the proportions of molding MLD-004. Width 198 mm — a proportional central accent position on the horizontal bar of this profile series. Height 208 mm — vertical coverage aligned with the profile height and molding bar width. Relief 18 mm — moderate, delicate plasticity, not 'sticking out' from the frame plane, yet sufficient for a readable ornament.
On a furniture front 300–500 mm wide: MLD-4-2.1 with a width of 198 mm occupies a significant portion of the horizontal bar — a confident, proportional accent. On a front 500–700 mm wide: occupies the central third to half — a delicate ornamental node, leaving space for the profile. On a wall panel 400–700 mm wide: ideal scale without overload.
A small decorative wooden elementMLD-4-2.1 is precisely the solution for regular molding systems with many repeating frames: uniform, precise, not overloading any individual section.
Relief 18 mm: elegance without heaviness
Eighteen millimeters of relief — lightness and elegance. It is precisely this relief depth that makes MLD-4-2.1 suitable for delicate, 'gentle' classical systems: French style in pastel tones, Italian soft classicism under white enamel, Scandinavian neoclassicism with wooden accents. The ornament is readable, creates chiaroscuro — but does not overwhelm with volume.
With directed spot lighting: protruding leaves and curls are illuminated, gaps recede into light shadow — the relief lives, but delicately. With diffused daylight: neat plasticity without contrasts — the ornament as part of the overall surface, not a separate dominant object.
Carved element for moldingWith 18 mm relief — for projects where measure is important. Not less and not more.

Material selection for the task — beech or oak
Two materials, two outcomes. For decorative element MLD-4-2.1 this choice is fundamental — because it affects not only the appearance but the entire finishing strategy of the project. Beech and oak are not interchangeable options but two distinct artistic solutions.
Beech: compact fine-grained base for opaque coatings
Beech is a classic furniture wood for enamel finishes. Fine-grained, dense structure, creamy-pink neutral tone, minimal surface porosity. Under opaque coating, beech behaves predictably: enamel applies evenly, without show-through, without visual 'pull-ups'—a monolithic painted surface.
Decorative element made of beechMLD-4-2.1 is the first choice for the painted segment: white furniture, pastel tones, cream classic, saturated color solutions. The neutral background of beech allows using any enamel color without the risk of the wood tone 'showing through' the coating.
The competitive advantage of beech lies in its versatility for finishing: one material, any color. For furniture production, this means: a single specification for MLD-4-2.1 in beech covers all color options in the catalog.
Oak: a textured, characteristic wood for natural solutions.
Decorative element made of oakMLD-4-2.1 is for projects where wood grain is a decorative asset, not a problem. Large pores, expressive medullary rays, honey-golden natural tone, high hardness—this is the character of oak, which is revealed under transparent and tinting coatings.
Oak under natural oil or wax: a living, matte, warm surface with the full strength of the grain—'a real home,' 'real wood.' Oak under tinting varnish in dark shades: a monumental, dense, 'antique' look—good for studies, library systems, executive interiors.Carved oak decor— this is positioning naturalness as an advantage.
Practical selection algorithm
| Question | Answer 'yes' → selection |
|---|---|
| Finish coating — opaque enamel? | Beech |
| Is visible wood texture needed? | Oak |
| Is the furniture painted a single color? | Beech |
| Furniture made of natural oak with a natural finish? | Oak |
| Wall panel for white or pastel enamel? | Beech |
| Wall panel for tinting with visible texture? | Oak |
The table works as a cheat sheet: answered 'yes' to one of the questions — material is determined.Carved beech decorand oak — two professional options, each for its own task.
Tactile and aesthetic characteristics comparatively
Wooden decorative element made of solid wood— whether it's beech or oak — fundamentally differs from MDF decor or polyurethane ornament. Tactilely: the density and weight of natural wood are felt upon touch. Acoustically: tap with your finger — wood sounds different than hollow polyurethane. Visually: even under layers of enamel, the wooden relief looks different — denser, more tangible, more convincing.
This is a fundamental difference for a client who understands materials. And this is precisely the advantage worth explaining to the client when choosing:wooden overlay for the facade— this is not an imitation of decor, it is the decor itself.
Decorative element under enamel for classic facades and walls
The question of painting wooden decor is one of the most practical in the work of a furniture maker or designer. Can it be painted? How to do it correctly? What needs to be considered? For MLD-4-2.1 made of beech, the answer to the first question is unequivocal: not only can it be painted — this is one of the main application scenarios.
Why beech under enamel is a professional standard
Decorative element for enamelmade of beech — is the standard of furniture production in the painted classic segment. Several reasons why this is precisely the standard, not a compromise:
Firstly, beech is dense and non-porous — the enamel does not 'sink' into the pores unevenly, the coating turns out monolithic. Secondly, the light neutral tone of beech does not 'show through' the enamel even in a thin layer. Thirdly, the fine-grained structure does not create textural nuances under the coating — the surface is uniform. Fourthly, after priming and painting, the wooden element is indistinguishable from a painted MDF profile in terms of surface character — while being solid wood.
Wooden decor for paintingmade of beech — is production reliability: a predictable result, without surprises at the finishing stage.
Step-by-step technical painting protocol
Carved element for enamelMLD-4-2.1 is painted according to the standard scheme for wooden decor under opaque coatings:
Step 1. Mounting the overlay before painting. MLD-4-2.1 is mounted on the horizontal strip MLD-004 before the final painting. This allows covering the entire system with a single layer, eliminating the visible border between the overlay and the profile.
Step 2. Sanding the joints. The areas where the overlay meets the molding are sanded with P220 sandpaper — to maximize the smoothness of the transition.
Step 3. Dust removal. Complete removal of dust from the surface of the system: brush, blow-off, wiping with a damp cloth followed by drying.
Step 4. Priming. Acrylic wood primer — one or two coats with intermediate drying. The primer evens out absorbency and ensures enamel adhesion. After drying — matting with P320–360.
Step 5. Final enamel. Two coats with intermediate drying and light matting between coats. Result: a monolithic, uniform surface in which the molding strips, corner elements, and the central overlay MLD-4-2.1 are indistinguishable in character.
Color options and their decorative effect
Decorative overlay for paintingMLD-4-2.1 accepts any color. Several current scenarios:
-
White (RAL 9003, 9016): purity, lightness, classic Italian furniture. The MLD-4-2.1 relief under white enamel is perceived through delicate chiaroscuro — aristocratic, without affectation.
-
Cream / Ivory: warmth without brightness, 'antique' softness, pairs well with gilded hardware.
-
Grey-beige (Greige): neoclassicism in a contemporary interpretation — between neutral and warm.
-
Pastel sage, blue, dusty rose: French classic, Provence, intimate coziness.
-
Dark anthracite, black, deep blue: contrasting accent, bold neoclassicism, distinctive study look.
With any of these finishes, the 18 mm relief retains its expressiveness: the ornament is perceived as volume, not as a flat pattern.
What to pair decorative element MLD-4-2.1 with
Systematicity is the key word for any wooden decor. MLD-4-2.1 fully reveals itself in an ensemble with correctly selected components of series 004. One overlay without molding and corner elements is a fragment, not a system.
Molding MLD-004: the foundation of the series 004 system
Overlay for molding MLD-004MLD-4-2.1 is intended specifically forof wooden molding MLD-004This is a lineal profile from the solid wood series 004, with a specific cross-section and width. The backside recess MLD-4-2.1 replicates this cross-section: the overlay fits precisely onto the horizontal profile strip without preliminary marking—the recess 'catches' the profile and fixes the correct position.
Using MLD-4-2.1 on moldings from other series (MLD-001, MLD-002, MLD-003) without prior cross-section verification is not advisable: the proportions and recess are designed for MLD-004. A system component works within its system.
Corner elements of series 004: close the frame
Decorative element for MLD-004MLD-4-2.1 paired with corner overlays of series 004 forms a complete framing system. The corner overlays cover the four corner points of the frame, MLD-4-2.1—the central position of the horizontal strip.
In extended systems of series 004 with directional side accents and end caps on molding strips, MLD-4-2.1 occupies the central position in the hierarchy of the horizontal axis—it is precisely around it that the ornamental dynamics of the entire system are built.
The installation sequence is fixed:
-
Molding strips MLD-004 along the frame perimeter
-
Corner elements of series 004 at the four corner points

Where to use MLD-4-2.1
Decorative element for classic interiorsMLD-4-2.1 works across a wide range of objects. Its 198×208 mm scale makes it particularly suitable where a delicate, rather than monumental, ornamental accent is needed.
Furniture fronts and cabinets: the main area of application
Decorative element for furniture frontsMLD-4-2.1 is a central overlay for furniture doors with a molding system on MLD-004. For a front panel width from 280–300 mm: the 198 mm width of MLD-4-2.1 fits the scale and does not overload the front. It is precisely this size—from 280 mm and above—that makes MLD-4-2.1 one of the most versatile central accents in the series: it works on small fronts (cabinets, nightstands, wall cabinets) where a large 300+ mm element would be excessive.
Decorative element for a cabinetMLD-4-2.1: a cabinet with six doors 350–400 mm wide—six pieces of MLD-4-2.1. Each door gets its own central ornamental accent. The cabinet transitions from the category of 'furniture with moldings' to the category of 'classical furniture with detailing'.
Carved furniture decorThis scale is particularly in demand in the production of classic-style kitchen sets: wall cabinets, floor cabinets, refrigerator sections—each front with a molding frame on MLD-004 has its own central overlay MLD-4-2.1.
Wall panels and decorative wall frames
Decorative element for wall panelMLD-4-2.1 — the central overlay in each section of the MLD-004 wall molding system. For a wall with eight decorative frames: eight pieces of MLD-4-2.1. A regular system with identical central accents in all sections creates a rhythmic, orderly decorative wall image.
The 198×208 mm scale works well in wall systems with small and medium frames: section width 350–600 mm. In large sections of 700+ mm, MLD-4-2.1 looks delicate — the central accent is readable but not dominant. This is a deliberate aesthetic choice: some projects require precisely such — elegant, not flashy — detailing.
Doors, portals, and decorative trims
Classical wood decorMLD-4-2.1 on a door leaf: the central overlay of each frame section of the door. A classic interior door with three horizontal sections — three MLD-4-2.1, one in each horizontal axis. A door portal with a horizontal lintel on MLD-004: MLD-4-2.1 on the central axis of the lintel — a solemn but not overloaded entrance.
For small door portals and decorative trims (niches, mirrors, decorative inserts), MLD-4-2.1 sized 198×208 mm is the optimal accent: noticeable, not monumental.
Living rooms, halls, studies, bedrooms
In the living room: wall panels with regular molding frames — MLD-4-2.1 in each section. Made of beech under white enamel: a light, 'Italian' look. Made of oak under tinting: a warm, 'country' character.
In the hall: molding frames along the walls or above a console — MLD-4-2.1 creates formality without heaviness.
In the office: built-in shelving with molded fronts, paneled walls —Decorative element for neoclassicismMLD-4-2.1 in oak with a dark tint. Strict, rich, with character.
In the bedroom: molding frames behind the bed headboard, decor of built-in wardrobes — MLD-4-2.1 here is intimate, delicate, unobtrusive.
Commercial interiors: hotels, restaurants, offices
a decorative element for furnitureand walls MLD-4-2.1 is suitable for commercial projects of classical and neoclassical direction: hotel rooms with classic finishes, restaurants with a historical image, meeting rooms with representative interiors, medical and cosmetology clinics with the aesthetics of 'European classicism'.
In commercial projects with a large number of repeating frames (a hotel floor with 20 rooms is hundreds of MLD-4-2.1 units) the stability of dimensions and quality from batch to batch is critical. STAVROS ensures serial deliveries with quality control.
Why you should buy the decorative element MLD-4-2.1
I'll answer honestly and specifically — without general phrases. There are several practical reasons why MLD-4-2.1 in the STAVROS catalog is the right choice for the central overlay in the MLD-004 system.
System compatibility without adjustment
MLD-4-2.1 is a designed system component, not a 'size-fitting' element. The back recess for the MLD-004 profile, proportions scaled for the 004 series, ornamentation in a unified stylistic key with other components of the series — all this is the result of system design, not the selection of individual parts.Buy decorative element MLD-4-2.1— means getting a component that fits in place without adjustment.
Solid wood, not imitation.
Beech or oak is a living tree with real density and weight. Not an MDF overlay with film, not a polyurethane ornament. Solid wood works more convincingly in classic decor: tactilely, visually, in the feel of the finished product. A customer who sees and touches furniture with wooden decor feels the difference — and pays for it.
Two materials for two scenarios.
Buy decorative element from solid wood.is available in two options: beech — for opaque enamel of any color, oak — for natural and tinting finishes. Not one universal option with inevitable compromises, but two precise solutions for two professional scenarios.
