Description

PAN-004 – Fabric-backed MDF grooved panel, primed
A modern modular decorative solution – a slatted panel on a flexible fabric base. This model is suitable for furniture decoration and interior design.
Technical Specifications
The semi-circular battens of the panel are made from deeply milled MDF and glued onto a fabric base. They are carefully sanded and coated with two layers of white polyurethane-based primer-isolator.
The prepared surface of the slatted panel has a high degree of adhesion and is completely ready for finishing. You can proceed directly to installation, and after installation – to painting.
Installation
Panels are fixed using contact adhesive. Additional mechanical fastening with micro-pins using a pneumatic gun is recommended. Fastening points are puttied and sanded if necessary.
Thanks to its flexible backing, PAN-004 allows for cladding both straight and curved surfaces. Individual panels join together to form a single decorative coating.
Painting Recommendations
For panels used in furniture decoration, we recommend polyurethane and acrylic enamels. They form a wear-resistant coating that is resistant to abrasion, temperature fluctuations, and wet cleaning. Painting with these materials is carried out in a spray booth.
For panels used in interior decoration, water-based paints on acrylic or latex bases are optimal. Such compositions are environmentally friendly, do not have a strong solvent odor, and dry quickly. They can be used in residential premises directly during renovation.
For ease of transportation and storage, panels are supplied rolled into compact rolls.

The company ordered the pens for us when we ordered furniture. But I decided to write a review personally because they are amazing! Stylish, expensive, high-quality!

More than 20 years on the market

The company's success began in 2002, when two artists — Andrey Ragozin and Evgeny Tsapko — created a small creative workshop for producing wooden carved items. The masters' work was quickly noticed, and within a year they were invited to participate in the reconstruction of the Konstantinovskiy Palace in Strelna.

After the success of this project, the company focused on recreating palace interiors, furniture, church furnishings, and carved decorations in various artistic styles. They worked with cultural heritage sites: The Hermitage, the Alexandrovsky Palace, the Troitsko-Izmaylovsky Cathedral, the Sheremetyevsky Mansion, and many others.

The masters' task — and still is — to create wooden items with the highest level of detail and understanding of every element, based on impeccable knowledge of artistic laws and interior styles.

Slat panel 1000×11×950 — precise format for furniture fronts, niche solutions, wall panel belts, and horizontal decorative zones. Slat panel 1000×11×2670 — long-length module covering standard residential height of 2700 mm without horizontal joint: continuous vertical rhythm from floor to ceiling.

Where MDF wall slat panel is used

For those planningbuy wall slat panelsand still choosing between application scenarios — below are specific tasks that PAN-004 solves precisely and without compromise.

Accent Wall in Living Room

Slat panel for living room behind sofa or in TV zone — architectural technique that changes perception of entire room. Vertical slat rhythm visually elongates ceiling, creates depth and volume where previously there was just painted surface. PAN-004 in 2670 mm format covers wall from floor to ceiling in one pass — no horizontal joints.

TV area

Slatted panel for TV zone — one of the priority scenarios for PAN-004. The textured background behind the screen structures the area, giving it completeness. Directional spotlights at a 30–45° angle to the surface maximize the sculptural effect of the slatted rhythm. Recommended paint tone for the TV zone — neutral dark: anthracite, graphite, dark blue.

Hallway and corridor

Slatted panel for the hallway sets the character of the interior from the first steps. In a narrow corridor, horizontal orientation of the modules expands the space, vertical — elongates the ceiling. The textured surface turns a transit room into a meaningful architectural space.

Bedroom: headboard

Slatted panel for the bedroom behind the headboard — a delicate and very effective technique. PAN-004 in a neutral pastel tone creates a cozy, intimate look. LED backlighting behind the upper molding adds soft downward light — the interior acquires hotel-like expressiveness.

Furniture facades

Slatted panel for MDF furniture facade — an independent and technically precise scenario. The 950 mm format corresponds to the standard height of a sliding wardrobe section. The vertical slatted rhythm visually lightens the furniture mass, giving cabinet products architectural expressiveness. PAN-004 is attached to the facade base with mounting adhesive and trimmed to the required size.

Columns and niches

Slatted panel for a column — a rectangular load-bearing or decorative element is clad with modules around the perimeter with neat joining. For a niche: depth enhances the relief effect — side lighting creates volumetric chiaroscuro even without directional lighting.

Why primed MDF is a professional choice

For those who are planning tobuy a slatted panel from MDFfor painting, it is important to understand: the choice of material here determines the final result no less than the choice of color. MDF with a density of 750–850 kg/m³ is homogeneous in structure — without knots, resin pockets, or areas with variable density. Paint lays evenly over the entire surface, color is reproducible from the first layer to the last.

Factory primer in PAN-004 is applied after manual sanding — the 'Prestige primed' quality means leveled microporosity and a ready adhesive base. You save 30–40% of preparation time and reduce the consumption of finish paint.

Color and finish options:

  • Any shade from the RAL catalog (over 200 standard positions) or NCS

  • Monochromatic solution 'panel matching the wall' — relief only through shadow

  • Two-color system: slats in one tone, gaps in another

  • Matte, satin, or semi-gloss finish enamel to choose from

  • Repainting without dismantling — light sanding and a new layer

Comparison of primed MDF and solid oak:

Parameter Primed MDF PAN-004 Solid oak
Surface for painting Perfect, requires no additional work Requires additional preparation
Color options Full RAL / NCS spectrum Limited to tinting
Geometric uniformity High, factory precision Natural variations
Visual image Architectural, modern Natural, lively
Cost More affordable Higher

Color and finish selection PAN-004

Primed surface of the 'Prestige' class — a clean canvas for any color. This is where the primed MDF slat panel for painting reveals its main advantage: complete color freedom while preserving architectural relief.

Most popular RAL shades for PAN-004:

RAL shade Name Interior style Effect
RAL 9010 Pure white Minimalism, Scandinavian, Japandi Relief only through shadow, maximum purity
RAL 9001 Creamy white Neoclassicism, Provence, modern classic Warm neutral tone, cozy atmosphere
RAL 7044 Silk gray Minimalism, Japanese style Delicate graphics, architectural restraint
RAL 7016 Anthracite Loft, industrial, modern Bold graphic object, maximum contrast
RAL 7015 Slate gray Modern classic, loft Deep tone with a cool shade
RAL 5011 Steel blue Modern classic, art deco Noble accent, premium look
RAL 6028 Pine green Biophilic design Natural accent, organic depth
RAL 3005 Grapes Neoclassical, Art Deco, boutique interiors Saturated decorative accent

Two professional color techniques:

Monochromatic system. The panel is painted in the exact same shade as the wall — the relief remains but works only through shadow. The wall becomes 'architectural' rather than 'decorated'. The most sophisticated and professionally looking technique — especially with side directional lighting.

Two-color system. The slats are in one color, the gaps (visible backing) are in another. For example: slats RAL 9010, gaps RAL 7016. Or slats RAL 9001, gaps RAL 5011. Optical depth without any additional decor.

Practical advice on choosing enamel:

  • Matte — maximally soft, tactilely delicate result, hides minor imperfections, recommended for living spaces

  • Satin — slight sheen, easy to clean, optimal for hallways, children's rooms, commercial spaces

  • Semi-gloss — active shine, enhances the play of light and shadow, characteristic of Art Deco and modern classicism

Examples of ready-made interior solutions with PAN-004

Japandi / Scandinavian minimalism. Panel: RAL 9001 or RAL 7044. Lighting: warm 2700K LED strip behind the top molding. Floor: light oak or concrete tile. Decor: linen textiles, unglazed ceramics, low oak furniture. Result: a quiet, meditative interior with an architectural vertical accent.

Modern classic / neoclassicism. Panel: RAL 9001, framed with molding in the same tone. Lighting: directional spotlights 3000K + sconces on the sides. Floor: warm-toned oak parquet. Decor: brass details, fabric inserts in furniture. Result: an intimate, representative atmosphere without pretentiousness.

Loft / industrial style. Panel: RAL 7016 anthracite or RAL 9005 black. Lighting: industrial pendant lights, track lighting with directional spots. Background: exposed concrete or brick on adjacent walls. Decor: black metal, raw leather, coarse textiles. Result: a tough, self-sufficient architectural object.

Biophilic design. Panel: RAL 6028 pine green or RAL 6021 pale green. Lighting: diffused daylight + warm spotlights. Background: natural stone, terracotta, rattan. Decor: live plants, ceramics. Result: a natural, restorative space with an organic architectural accent.

Commercial space: restaurant / bar. Panel: RAL 3005, RAL 5011, or RAL 6028. Lighting: warm spotlights 2200–2700K at a 30° angle to the surface. Nearby: brass, dark oak, velvet textiles. Result: a rich, intimate atmosphere with a pronounced authorial character.

PAN-004 dimensions and how to choose the right format

Slatted panel 1000×11×950. A compact module for targeted tasks: furniture fronts, niche inserts, horizontal panel belts, fragmentary accents. Easily cut to non-standard size with a miter saw or circular saw with a fine-tooth blade.

Slatted panel 1000×11×2670. A long-length module for full wall coverage of standard height without horizontal joints. Continuous vertical rhythm from baseboard to molding — maximum visual effect. The format is ideal for accent walls in living rooms, hallways, bedrooms, commercial spaces.

Table: size — application — result:

Format Typical task Visual Result
1000×11×950 Furniture fronts, niches, panel belts Fragmentary accent, precise zone
1000×11×2670 Accent walls, TV zones, hallways Continuous rhythm from floor to ceiling

How to calculate quantity:

  • Wall width (mm) ÷ 1000 = number of modules in a row (round up)

  • For ceilings up to 2700 mm with 2670 mm format — one row in height

  • Allowance for trimming — always +10–15%

Example: wall 3600 mm wide, ceiling 2700 mm, format 2670 mm — 4 modules needed, the last one trimmed to 600 mm.

Calculation and project-specific configuration

Professional approach to ordering — a complete specification: panels, moldings, skirting boards, adhesive, paint.

Panel calculation:

  1. Measure the width and height of each wall to be clad

  2. Width (mm) ÷ 1000 = number of modules in a row (round up)

  3. For heights up to 2700 mm with a 2670 mm format — one row in height

  4. Modules in a row × rows in height = total for one wall

  5. Sum across all walls, add a 10–15% reserve

Molding calculation: total width of clad walls along the upper perimeter + 10% reserve.

Skirting board calculation: total width of tiled walls along the lower perimeter + 10% allowance.

Adhesive consumption: 1 cartridge 310 ml = 1–2 panels of 2670 mm format. For 10 panels — minimum 6–8 cartridges.

Paint consumption: 1 liter ≈ 8–10 m² in 1 coat. For slatted surfaces, consumption is 15–20% higher due to the relief. For 10 panels 2670 mm (≈26.7 m²) in 2 coats — minimum 6–7 liters of enamel.

Installing a slatted panel on a wall: details that make all the difference

Surface preparation. The wall must be dry, clean, and degreased. Allowable deviation for direct adhesive installation — up to 3–5 mm. For greater deviation — level with putty or install on a metal profile frame with 400–600 mm spacing.

Adhesive selection

For installing PAN-004 — use MS-polymer or polyurethane-based mounting adhesive: high initial adhesion, solvent-free, elastic seam after curing. Do not use solvent-based adhesives — they damage the MDF surface under the primer. Consumption: 200–300 g per one 2670 mm panel when applied in a serpentine pattern.

Mounting on frame

If the plane deviation exceeds 5 mm:

  • Profile CD 60 × 27 mm, guide UD 28 × 27 mm

  • Stud spacing — 400 mm for 950 mm format, 600 mm for 2670 mm format

  • Wall fastening — 6 × 60 mm hammer-in anchor with 600 mm spacing

  • Panels to profile — finishing nails 1.4 × 40 mm into the gap between slats

  • Air gap can be used for acoustic material

Adhesive installation: sequence

  1. Apply mounting adhesive to the back of the panel in a snake pattern or in dots

  2. Place the panel against the surface, press

  3. Remove and hold for 3–5 minutes in an open state

  4. Press firmly for 5–10 seconds

  5. If necessary, secure with finishing nails along the edges

Angles and joints

Internal corner: both panels are cut at 45° — a clean joint without trim. Or: one panel butts up to the corner, the second overlaps the end — easier for DIY installation.

External corner: cutting at 45° with precise alignment of slats — using a miter saw with a calibrated angle. Or: decorative corner molding from the catalogof STAVROS millwork products.

Horizontal joint for 950 mm format: covered with decorative horizontal molding — turns a forced joint into an architectural element.

Painting

Professional standard — pre-installation spray painting: uniform coverage of all surfaces including gaps. Algorithm: sanding primer P400–P600, dust removal, finishing enamel in 2 coats with intercoat drying.

Cutting

Along slats — circular saw with guide rail. Across — miter saw. After cutting: sanding end P180→P240, end priming in 2 coats with water-based primer.

Often combined with PAN-004

The slat panel unfolds to its fullest as part of a complete interior system. All listed products are available in the STAVROS catalog.

Moldings and cornices. The top molding completes the slat plane with an architectural horizontal line. In the panel's tone — a monochrome system; in a contrasting tone — a two-level solution.

Decorative Inserts. They frame the slat field with a frame structure — a classic technique of neoclassicism and modern classicism.

Wooden baseboard. An MDF skirting board in the panel's tone creates a monochrome vertical system, a solid oak wooden skirting board — a natural contrast.

Flexible slat panel PAN-001On fabric backing — for curved surfaces, columns, arches, where rigid MDF backing PAN-004 is not applicable.

Interior Rail RK-002Individual battens for custom designer solutions — when a single slat element is needed, not a panel module.

Frequently asked questions

Can PAN-004 be painted independently without a paint sprayer?
Yes. Brush or roller — acceptable result with careful work. For gaps between slats — a thin flat brush. Professional result with uniform gap coverage — spray gun before installation.

Can PAN-004 be used on the ceiling?
Technically — yes, when installed on a frame with secure fastening. For ceiling installation, a frame is strongly recommended, not just adhesive.

Is it suitable for a children's room?
Yes. The MDF in PAN-004 complies with emission class E1. The water-based finish enamel provides additional protection. After the paint has fully cured (48–72 hours), the room is safe for children.

How to care for the surface after painting?
Dry or slightly damp soft cloth. Matte enamels are sensitive to abrasives. For cleaning — neutral detergent without solvents.

Can it be repainted a different color without dismantling?
Yes. Sanding P320–P400, dust removal, new primer coat if needed, finish enamel in 2 coats. The number of repaint coats is practically unlimited.

How to avoid misalignment of the slat pattern at the joint?
Factory precision of the slat spacing in PAN-004 ensures pattern alignment during butt jointing. Check the vertical alignment of each module with a level before final pressing.

Is PAN-004 suitable for curved surfaces?
No — the rigid MDF backing is intended only for flat planes. For columns, arches, curved walls —Flexible slat panel PAN-001on a fabric base.

Can it be used in a bathroom?
No. MDF is a material for dry rooms. Constant humidity destroys the board's structure.

How to order a sample before purchase?
In the STAVROS catalog, a sample of the slat panel OPAN-001 is available from 520 rubles — evaluate the material quality, slat spacing, and texture in person before your main order.
