More than 20 years on the market

The company's success began in 2002, when two artists — Andrey Ragozin and Evgeny Tsapko — created a small creative workshop for producing wooden carved items. The masters' work was quickly noticed, and within a year they were invited to participate in the reconstruction of the Konstantinovskiy Palace in Strelna.

After the success of this project, the company focused on recreating palace interiors, furniture, church furnishings, and carved decorations in various artistic styles. They worked with cultural heritage sites: The Hermitage, the Alexandrovsky Palace, the Troitsko-Izmaylovsky Cathedral, the Sheremetyevsky Mansion, and many others.

The masters' task — and still is — to create wooden items with the highest level of detail and understanding of every element, based on impeccable knowledge of artistic laws and interior styles.

MLDPU-001 STAVROS Polyurethane Molding — a thin decorative bead for perfect interior and furniture finishing

MLDPU-001 Molding is a classic decorative bead made of two-component polyurethane with a semi-circular profile measuring 10×6 mm and a strip length of 2600 mm. Its concise geometry, flawlessly smooth surface, and universal white color make it one of the most sought-after linear moldings in the STAVROS range — it fits equally organically into classic interiors, modern neoclassicism, Scandinavian minimalism, and Provence style.

What is molding and why is it needed

Molding is a decorative profile strip used for visually framing surfaces, creating geometric panels on walls, decorating furniture fronts, embellishing door panels, and delineating zonal spaces in interiors. It is moldings that transform an ordinary painted wall into an elegant surface with architectural character: simply glue several strips in the shape of a rectangle or square — and the wall gains depth, rhythm, and nobility that were previously only achievable with expensive plaster stucco.

MLDPU-001 Molding is designed as a thin bead with a pronounced semi-circular relief along the central axis. The 10×6 mm cross-section means the profile width is 10 mm, and the protrusion height above the surface is 6 mm. This is a compact, delicate size that does not overwhelm the space even in small rooms and yet is clearly visible on a wall or furniture front, creating the necessary visual accent.

Technical Specifications of MLDPU-001

The molding is made of two-component polyurethane — a material that fundamentally differs from ordinary polystyrene foam and cheap plastic alternatives in all key parameters: density, strength, detail, and durability.

  • Item code: MLDPU-001

  • Cross-section profile: semi-circular (bead)

  • Dimension A (width): 10 mm

  • Dimension C (profile height): 6 mm

  • Dimension L (strip length): 2600 mm

  • Material: two-component polyurethane

  • Color: white (primed, ready for painting)

  • Surface: smooth, pore-free, no flash

  • Installation: using liquid nails, acrylic adhesive, mounting adhesive for decor

Strip length 2600 mm — an optimal standard for working with most rooms. One strip covers the standard wall height from floor to ceiling with a margin, and when applied horizontally, it can be easily cut to the required size with an ordinary hacksaw or sharp utility knife.

Material: why two-component polyurethane

STAVROS two-component polyurethane is a material with fundamentally different characteristics compared to what mass-market offers under the guise of 'polyurethane decor.' STAVROS production is based on pouring two chemical components into precise molds, which react to form a monolithic structure without pores or voids inside. This is why STAVROS moldings do not crumble when cut, do not break from accidental mechanical impact, and do not deform due to temperature fluctuations.

Density and strength. Two-component polyurethane is significantly denser than polystyrene foam. With the same visual profile, a STAVROS product feels like a truly high-quality item — it has the weight and elasticity characteristic of professional architectural decor. When bent, the profile springs back rather than breaking — this is important when installing on curved surfaces or for small-radius bends.

Moisture resistance. The closed-cell structure of the material completely prevents moisture absorption. MLDPU-001 Molding does not swell, deform, or peel off the surface when used in high-humidity areas — bathrooms, kitchens, rooms with wall condensation. This opens up application possibilities unavailable for gypsum and MDF moldings.

Ready for painting. The molding surface has a fine-grained, closed texture that perfectly accepts any paint and coating materials without prior priming. Acrylic paints, water-based and alkyd enamels, aerosol paints, fine-grained decorative plasters — all adhere evenly to polyurethane, without drips or absorption into the surface. The molding easily integrates into any interior color scheme: white, ivory, gray, gold, silver, metal imitation — repainting takes minimal time.

Light weight. Despite its dense structure, polyurethane molding is significantly lighter than gypsum counterparts. This simplifies transportation — strips do not break during shipping — and greatly facilitates installation: a long 2600 mm strip does not sag under its own weight during gluing and holds securely on vertical surfaces without additional fasteners.

Where MLDPU-001 Molding is used

Thanks to its minimal 10×6 mm cross-section, MLDPU-001 Molding is a versatile tool for a wide range of decorative tasks. Its delicate profile does not dominate but neatly emphasizes the surface geometry.

Creating wall panels and frame decor. The most popular use of thin bead molding is forming decorative rectangular and square frames directly on the wall. Four molding segments joined at a 45-degree angle create an elegant panel. Several such frames arranged rhythmically on a wall create the effect of classic paneling with moldings — a finish associated with expensive European interiors and historic mansions. At the same time, the entire process takes a few hours and requires no special skills.

Decorating furniture fronts. MLDPU-001 Molding is widely used in furniture manufacturing and renovating ready-made furniture. Smooth fronts of sliding wardrobes, kitchen sets, dressers, and cabinets acquire a fundamentally different appearance when thin profile frames made of polyurethane are glued onto them. This solution is particularly in demand in the custom furniture production segment, where clients want a classic or neoclassical front without expensive MDF milling.

Embellishing door panels. Flat interior doors are easily transformed into paneled doors using several MLDPU-001 moldings. Bead frames glued onto the door panel imitate traditional wooden panels and give the door depth and relief. This technique is used in both residential interiors and hotel rooms and office spaces during budget renovations.

Ceiling decor and niche framing. Thin molding is used to frame ceiling niches, light coves, stepped ceilings, and transition areas between different levels. The 10×6 mm profile is compact enough to be installed in narrow spaces — around the perimeter of a light niche 15–20 mm wide or along a thin decorative border.

Wall zoning. In modern interiors, moldings are used for visual wall zoning horizontally: one horizontal molding placed at a height of 90–100 cm from the floor clearly divides the wall into two zones — lower and upper — and allows the use of different finishing materials or colors for them.

Decor in neoclassical and modern classic styles. MLDPU-001 Molding fits perfectly into interiors inspired by French classicism, Italian baroque in modern interpretation, art deco, and Scandinavian neoclassicism. The thin semi-circular profile — historically one of the basic elements of classical architectural trim, known as 'bead' or 'half-round' — has been present in palace interior decor for centuries and remains relevant in modern design to this day.

How to install MLDPU-001 Molding

Installing molding does not require special construction skills and is accessible to anyone with basic repair experience. The process consists of several sequential steps.

Surface preparation. The wall, furniture front, or door panel must be clean, dry, and degreased. If there is loose paint on the surface, it must be removed. Glossy surfaces are recommended to be lightly sanded with fine-grit sandpaper for better adhesive bonding.

Marking. Before installation, pencil markings must be applied — outline the contours of future frames or the lines where the molding will run. A level and painter's tape will help ensure marking accuracy.

Cutting for corners. For corner joints, the molding is cut at a 45-degree angle. This is done using a miter box — a special guiding tool for precise angled cutting. Two-component polyurethane cuts easily and cleanly: a sharp knife or a fine-toothed metal saw is sufficient. The cut is smooth, without splitting or crumbling.

Applying adhesive. Mounting adhesive is applied to the back of the molding in a thin, even strip along its entire length. Liquid nails (acrylic, solvent-free), specialized adhesive for polyurethane decor, or acrylic mounting adhesive are suitable for this. It is important to use adhesive without aggressive solvents — they can damage the polyurethane surface.

Gluing and fixing. The molding is pressed against the surface and held for 30–60 seconds until the adhesive sets. For long strips, painter's tape can be used during drying to secure the molding until the adhesive fully cures — typically 24 hours.

Sealing joints. After installation, joints at corners and ends are filled with acrylic sealant, which is then smoothed with a finger and sanded with fine-grit sandpaper after drying. This makes the joints practically invisible.

Final finishing. After the adhesive and sealant have completely dried, the molding is painted to match the wall color or in a contrasting color. If the molding is painted along with the wall — no additional preparation is required. For accent painting in a different color, painter's tape is used to protect the adjacent surface.

Combination with other STAVROS moldings and decor

Molding MLDPU-001 is a basic element that works excellently both independently and in combination with other profiles and decorative elements from the STAVROS assortment.

For creating multi-level frame compositions, MLDPU-001 is used in combination with wider moldings — for example, profiles with a width of 20–30 mm. The thin glazing bead is placed inside the wide frame, forming a double contour that gives the panel greater depth and architectural expressiveness. This technique is widely used in living rooms, bedrooms, and formal hallways.

Decorative corner elements from the STAVROS assortment allow for creating precise and beautiful corners without 45-degree joints — this is especially convenient for those who do not have a miter box or experience with angled cutting. Corner blocks are installed in the corners of the frame, and MLDPU-001 moldings are inserted between them as straight segments without any angled processing.

STAVROS floral and ornamental decor — scrolls, inserts, rosettes, cartouches — is combined with MLDPU-001 molding within classic interior compositions. The thin glazing bead frames the decorative elements, creating a complete architectural group of several components.

Interior styles where MLDPU-001 works

Classic and neoclassical. The semi-circular profile of the molding is a historically authentic element of classical architecture. In interiors inspired by Empire, Baroque, Rococo, or Classicism, the thin glazing bead is used as a delicate framing detail that emphasizes the monumentality of the space without excessive opulence.

Modern classic (neo-style, new classic). One of the most sought-after contemporary trends in interior design — combining modern materials and clean forms with classic decorative details. MLDPU-001 moldings, applied to the wall in a geometrically precise order, create exactly that laconic classic accent that makes the interior both modern and refined.

French style and Provence. In Provence interiors, thin frame moldings are a mandatory attribute of wall finishing. They are applied to surfaces painted in pastel tones — milky, lavender, gray-blue — and create that very French atmosphere of a country house with history.

Art Deco. Geometric frames made of thin moldings are a classic Art Deco technique. Strict rectangular and square panels created from MLDPU-001 molding perfectly complement interiors with characteristic Art Deco elements: metal accents, velvet, geometric parquet, and mirrored surfaces.

Scandinavian style. Clean lines, neutral tones, and minimalist decor — in this context, thin white molding adds architectural rhythm to the wall without disrupting the overall laconicism of the space. One horizontal line of molding or a simple rectangular frame — that's exactly what a Scandinavian interior needs.

Molding MLDPU-001 in furniture production

A separate area of application is furniture manufacturing and renovation. Manufacturers of 'mid-plus' and 'premium' class furniture actively use STAVROS polyurethane moldings to create relief fronts without expensive milling. MLDPU-001 molding is glued onto an MDF or plywood front, after which the entire surface is painted in a single color — resulting in a ready-made paneled front with a professional relief.

For renovating existing furniture, this technique works just as effectively. Old smooth cabinet or dresser doors with glued-on moldings and fresh paint look like completely new furniture. This is significantly cheaper than replacing fronts and allows for a radical change in the furniture's style to match a new interior.

Advantages over analogues made from other materials

The molding market offers products made from many materials — MDF, wood, plaster, polystyrene foam, PVC. Each has its limitations, which STAVROS two-component polyurethane successfully overcomes.

Wooden moldings are beautiful but are afraid of moisture, require precise fitting, and have a high cost. MDF moldings cannot be used in damp rooms without special protective treatment, they are heavier and more difficult to cut. Plaster moldings are fragile, heavy, and require additional skills for installation. Polystyrene foam is the cheapest option, but it is soft, easily dented, has a noticeable grainy surface, and does not convey profile clarity.

STAVROS polyurethane combines ease of installation, moisture resistance, strength, profile clarity, and affordability. This is the optimal choice for professional interior projects of any complexity and scale.

How to order molding MLDPU-001

Molding MLDPU-001 is available for order on the STAVROS website. When calculating the required number of strips, consider the perimeter of all surfaces where installation is planned and add a 10–15% reserve for trimming and possible marking errors. For large projects — full wall finishing of a living room, decorating a large number of furniture fronts — we recommend ordering strips with a reserve, as polyurethane products from the same production batch have identical color and geometry, which is important for the visual uniformity of the final result.

Delivery is available throughout Russia. Strips are packaged in protective film to prevent damage during transportation. Add MLDPU-001 to your cart right now — and in just a few days, you will have everything you need to create an interior with a true classic character.
