More than 20 years on the market

The company's success began in 2002, when two artists — Andrey Ragozin and Evgeny Tsapko — created a small creative workshop for producing wooden carved items. The masters' work was quickly noticed, and within a year they were invited to participate in the reconstruction of the Konstantinovskiy Palace in Strelna.

After the success of this project, the company focused on recreating palace interiors, furniture, church furnishings, and carved decorations in various artistic styles. They worked with cultural heritage sites: The Hermitage, the Alexandrovsky Palace, the Troitsko-Izmaylovsky Cathedral, the Sheremetyevsky Mansion, and many others.

The masters' task — and still is — to create wooden items with the highest level of detail and understanding of every element, based on impeccable knowledge of artistic laws and interior styles.

Baseboard B98V1 from polystyrene HI WOOD — high profile with maximum thickness

Designing an elite interior with high ceilings requires the use of architectural elements of increased scale and enhanced strength, which emphasize the grandeur of the space and create a monumental frame.Polystyrene baseboardModel B98V1 from the South Korean manufacturer HI WOOD with dimensions 98 × 19.5 × 2000 mm is a high, massive profile with a smooth surface and increased thickness, specifically designed for spacious rooms with ceiling heights of 3 meters and above, where a combination of monumentality and structural reliability is required. ThisPolystyrene floor baseboardcombines impressive height of 98 mm, creating a powerful visual impact and grand framing, with maximum thickness of 19.5 mm, ensuring exceptional structural rigidity, absolute reliability of mounting, and durability for decades.

Height of 98 mm belongs to the category of very high premium-grade baseboards and is one of the maximum sizes for decorating elite interiors with high ceilings. Such impressive height, practically reaching 10 centimeters, creates an expressive architectural frame of colossal scale, visually structuring the space along the entire perimeter of a large area, maximally emphasizing the scale and grandeur, imparting the interior with the highest representative character and creating an indelible sense of solidity, reliability, prestige, and elite status of the owner. A profile of 98 mm becomes a noticeable dominant architectural element of premium-class interiors, actively shaping the character of the entire space, setting the tone for elite design, and creating a memorable impression for visitors and guests.

Thickness of 19.5 mm represents one of the maximum values in the HI WOOD product line, providing exceptional enhanced rigidity for the very high 98 mm profile and creating a super-reliable wide mounting surface for applying a significant amount ofadhesive for polystyrene baseboards. This increased thickness is critically important for the high profile — it absolutely guarantees that the baseboard will not warp during installation even on walls with unevenness up to 4-5 mm, reliably maintains the specified straight-line shape after installation for the entire multi-decade service life, and creates a robust long-lasting connection to the wall over the impressive height of 98 mm. At the same time, the massive profile appears monumental and solid, which fully corresponds to its purpose for decorating large-scale rooms with high ceilings.

The material of production — phytopolymer (high-density polystyrene) with density 680 kg/m³ — provides a unique combination of highest strength and relatively low weight even for a high massive profile 98 × 19.5 mm. One linear meter of baseboard B98V1 weighs only about 280-300 grams, which is 5-7 times less than similar high and thick baseboards made of MDF, solid wood, or gypsum of the same height and thickness. Standard plank length of 2000 mm allows effectively covering the perimeter of spacious large-area rooms.

The standard plank length of 2000 mm allows effectively covering the perimeter of spacious rooms with large areas.

Absolute water resistance of 100% makespolystyrene floor baseboarduniversal for any rooms including wet zones. The matte white surface is ready for painting, opening up limitless possibilities for implementing the most diverse design solutions.

Premium-grade phytopolymer from South Korean production

The base of baseboard B98V1 is phytopolymer — high-density polystyrene of the latest generation, produced by HI WOOD using a patented South Korean technology with more than thirty years of continuous experience in refining production processes, implementing world-class breakthrough technological innovations, and strict multi-stage quality control at every stage of the production cycle. This high-tech thermoplastic polymer is created by high-precision extrusion of molten polystyrene at strictly controlled temperature 200-220°C through a special multi-channel die head, followed by molding under high pressure 25-30 MPa in special vacuum chambers with programmable multi-stage cooling and precise stabilization of the geometry of the high massive profile.

Density of the material 680 kg/m³ — a critical quality indicator of premium class, ensuring exceptional mechanical strength while maintaining relatively low weight even for a very high profile 98 mm with increased thickness 19.5 mm. This outstanding density is 27-45 times higher than ordinary expanded polystyrene EPS (15-25 kg/m³), used for insulating building facades, and is fully comparable with the density of hardwoods such as oak (650-750 kg/m³), beech (650-700 kg/m³), and ash (670-720 kg/m³). Such outstanding record density ensures flexural strength of 45-50 MPa, tensile strength of 40-45 MPa, flexural modulus of 2500-3000 MPa, and impact toughness of 10-12 kJ/m², which is fully comparable or even exceeds the characteristics of many species of natural wood of medium and high density.

Water resistance of phytopolymer reaches absolute maximum 100% — the material does not absorb water even after prolonged immersion for 96 hours and more in laboratory conditions according to strict international testing standards ISO and ASTM. Water absorption over 24 hours is less than 0.1% by mass, which is practically zero and dozens of times lower than the indicators of all alternative materials: natural wood has water absorption of 15-20%, MDF — 8-12%, gypsum and gypsum molding — 5-10%, even premium-grade polyurethane — 0.5-1%. This categorically means thatPolystyrene floor baseboardB98V1 can be absolutely safely installed in the most extreme conditions of high humidity and direct contact with water — luxury bathrooms with shower cabins, steam generators, and jacuzzis, poorly ventilated toilets, kitchens with constant cooking, laundries, swimming pools, saunas, and steam rooms. The material absolutely does not swell from moisture, does not deform under humidity fluctuations from 20% to 100%, does not rot, does not develop mold, fungus, or moss even under constant dampness.

Temperature stability of the material covers the widest possible range from extremely low -50°C to high +80°C without any change in the physical, mechanical, geometric, or aesthetic properties of the product. The baseboard does not soften, does not deform, does not lose mechanical strength during prolonged heating from underfloor heating systems, radiators, or summer heat. When cooled to negative temperatures, the material does not become brittle, does not crack, and retains a certain elasticity even at extreme temperatures of -40°C and below. The linear thermal expansion coefficient is only 0.06-0.08 mm per meter of length for a 10°C change in ambient temperature — this is the minimum record-low value among all construction materials.

Chemical resistance of phytopolymer ensures resistance to the overwhelming majority of household substances, aggressive environments, and chemical compounds. The material absolutely does not react with water of any hardness and temperature, soapy solutions of any concentration, most household cleaning and washing agents based on water, weak acids and alkalis, salt solutions, alcohols, oils, and fats. It is critically important to remember that polystyrene is absolutely incompatible with organic solvents — acetone, toluene, white spirit, gasoline, kerosene.

Environmental safety of HI WOOD products is confirmed by the prestigious international "Korea Eco-Label" certification — the highest possible class A+ eco-label, awarded exclusively to products that have passed strict multi-stage tests in independent accredited international laboratories. The material is guaranteed to contain no formaldehyde, phenol, phthalates, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, heavy metals (lead, mercury, cadmium, chromium, arsenic), asbestos, dioxins, or furans. It does not emit volatile organic compounds VOC even when heated to 80°C. Phytopolymer is chemically absolutely inert, odorless, hypoallergenic, and absolutely safe for the health of all population groups.

Architectural geometry of the massive smooth profile

Dimensions 98 × 19.5 mm represent the result of long-term deep architectural research, professional design development, and practical testing under real operating conditions. Height of 98 mm belongs to the category of very high premium-grade baseboards and is one of the maximum sizes for professional decoration of elite interiors with high ceilings.

Height of 98 mm provides a colossal powerful visual impact — the baseboard becomes a dominant monumental architectural element, effectively structuring the space along the entire perimeter, creating grand framing, and maximally imparting the interior with scale, monumentality, solidity, and the highest prestige. A profile of 98 mm most effectively conceals increased technological compensation gaps of 20-25 mm between the floor covering and the wall in spacious rooms larger than 60 m², reliably masks significant wall-to-floor irregularities up to 12-15 mm, and creates maximum possible protection for the lower part of the wall against various mechanical damages during operation at an impressive height of nearly 10 centimeters.

Thickness of 19.5 mm represents one of the maximum values in the HI WOOD production program, providing exceptional maximum rigidity for the very high 98 mm profile with a smooth surface. This increased thickness creates a super-reliable wide mounting surface of about 18.5 mm for applying a significant amount of mounting adhesive, which undoubtedly guarantees a robust long-lasting connection of the high massive profile to the wall over the impressive height of 98 mm for many decades of flawless operation. At the same time, the massive profile with increased thickness appears monumental, solid, and representative, which fully corresponds to its purpose for decorating large-scale rooms.

Profile section B98V1 is designed in a minimalist modern laconic form with an absolutely smooth flat front surface without any decorative relief, figurative elements, ornaments, or embellishments. This fundamental conceptual feature makes the profile maximally universal and ideally compatible with any interior styles, from strict modern minimalism to elegant refined classicism, from brutal industrial loft to light Scandinavian style, from futuristic high-tech to luxurious art deco. The smooth laconic surface maximally emphasizes the purity of architectural lines, creates a sense of ideal order, visual lightness, and modernity even with imposing dimensions.

The profile shape is meticulously designed with consideration for ergonomics of use and practicality of long-term operation — all transitions between different profile planes are smooth without sharp angles, rounded edges with radius of 2-3 mm completely eliminate the risk of injury from sharp corners during accidental contact and significantly facilitate regular wet cleaning. The smooth surface has no depressions or grooves where dust could accumulate. The upper part of the baseboard has a smooth connection to the wall at an angle of about 100 degrees for optimal fit, while the lower part tightly adheres to the floor at a right angle of 90 degrees, effectively covering the technological joint.

The construction of baseboard B98V1 includes a significant internal cavity of large volume — an extremely functional spacious cable channel with width of about 16 mm and impressive height up to 85 mm for convenient unobstructed laying of various numerous communications. In this spacious cavity, you can freely place numerous wires and cables of various purposes and cross-sections — for stationary and modern IP telephony, high-speed Ethernet internet of categories Cat5e/Cat6/Cat7, coaxial television cables for digital and satellite TV, antenna cables, audio cables for home theater and modern multi-room audio systems, video surveillance system cables with total cross-section up to 40 mm². This allows completely avoiding labor-intensive and expensive wall drilling.

Standard plank length of 2000 mm is chosen with consideration for optimal balance between practicality of use, convenience of transportation, and ergonomics of installation. Whentwo strips with one joint cover a 4-meter section, which corresponds to the typical dimensions of spacious rooms in luxury apartments and premium-class private homes.two planks with one joint cover a 4-meter section, which corresponds to typical sizes of spacious rooms.

In museums of contemporary art, art galleries, exhibition centers, and conceptual spaces, the very high skirting board with a smooth minimalist surface creates modern minimalist finishes for public spaces. The neutral white color does not distract attention from exhibits and artworks, while the increased height corresponds to the scale of architecture of modern cultural institutions.

In concert halls of contemporary music, theaters, premium-class cinemas, and philharmonies, the 98 mm skirting board with minimalist design harmonizes with high ceilings and modern finishes of public cultural and artistic spaces.

In elite restaurants, clubs, and VIP-level suburban residences, the very high, solid skirting board with a smooth surface emphasizes the highest status of the establishment and attention to quality finishing.

Professional installation technology for solid profile

Preparation for professional installation of the very high solid skirting board begins with mandatory careful acclimatization of the material in the installation room for at least 48–72 hours at room temperature +18...+22°C and optimal relative humidity 40–60%. Planks remain in factory packaging in strictly horizontal position on a flat stable surface, away from heating appliances and direct sunlight.

The wall surface must be perfectly flat with deviation not exceeding 2–3 mm per linear meter, absolutely clean without dust, dirt, or construction material residues, dry with moisture content not exceeding 10% by mass, and fully de-greased without oily films. All protruding irregularities exceeding 2 mm are removed by sanding. Large dents and cracks are carefully filled with putty. To improve adhesion, it is recommended to prime the wall with an acrylic-based deep-penetration primer.

For mounting the very high solid profile, 98 mm high and 19.5 mm thick, specializedadhesives for polystyrene skirting boardshigh-strength water-based adhesives without organic solvents are used: professional acrylic adhesives (liquid nails) with high initial tack (2–3 minutes), MS-polymer-based adhesive sealants with elastic joints and enhanced peel strength, and the proprietary HI WOOD HD1000 adhesive. The use of solvent-based adhesives is strictly prohibited.

Adhesive is applied to the back of the skirting board in a continuous wavy line or dotted line with 8–10 cm intervals across the entire mounting surface for maximum strength of the connection between the solid profile and the wall. For the very high profile of 98 mm, it is recommended to apply a generous amount of adhesive in a 4–5 mm thick strip. The skirting board is pressed firmly against the wall vertically and held tightly along its impressive height of 98 mm with palms for 30 seconds to allow initial adhesive setting.

For the high solid profile, 98 mm high and 19.5 mm thick, it is strongly recommended to use temporary fixation with 50 mm wide painter’s tape at 25–30 cm intervals during the full polymerization of the adhesive. The tape is carefully removed after 3–4 hours. Full polymerization occurs within 24–48 hours.

Due to its relatively low weight of approximately 280–300 grams per linear meter, even the very high solid profile securely holds on quality adhesive without additional mechanical fixation after complete drying.

Cutting and corner finishing

Critically important question —how to cut polystyrene skirting board98 mm high and 19.5 mm thick. A professional panel saw with a fine-toothed disc of diameter not less than 300–350 mm ensures a clean, precise cut. The saw must have a laser pointer and an angular positioning system with an accuracy of less than 0.5 degrees.

how to cut polystyrene baseboardCutting the 98 mm high skirting board at home — a professional metal hacksaw with a deep rigid blade of at least 350 mm in length, combined with a professional high stool of at least 120 mm depth. Cutting is performed with smooth, even movements.

To create internal and external angles, the ends of the planks are beveled at a precise 45-degree angle with micron-level accuracy. Joints are assembled using careful pre-fitting. Angular joints are filled with white acrylic sealant with minimal shrinkage not exceeding 2%. The sealant is carefully smoothed with a wet finger.

Painting the solid skirting board

The most important question —how to paint a polystyrene skirting board98 mm high. The smooth surface of the skirting board has a specially prepared fine-porous structure for painting without prior priming. Only professional water-based paints without organic solvents are used.

Optimal are acrylic water-dispersible interior paints with matte or semi-matte finish and enhanced coverage — they dry quickly in 2–4 hours, have no unpleasant odor, and are environmentally safe. Premium latex paints form a denser, more durable film. Silicone paints provide maximum moisture resistance.

The use of paints based on organic solvents — alkyd enamels, oil-based paints, nitro lacquers — is strictly prohibited. Application is performed using a professional brush or roller in 2–3 layers for even, saturated color.

Classic white painting remains the most popular choice for high skirting boards in elite modern interiors. Painting in wall color creates visual continuity. Contrasting painting creates dramatic effects — a black skirting board on white walls looks exceptionally stylish.

Advantages of the B98V1 skirting board

Very high height of 98 mm is optimal for spacious rooms with high ceilings from 3 meters and creates a monumental framing. Maximum thickness of 19.5 mm ensures exceptional rigidity and reliability of the structure, which is critically important for a high-profile skirting board. The smooth minimalist surface is universally suitable for any interior style, from modern minimalism to classic.

South Korean HI WOOD quality guarantees the highest geometric precision with deviations not exceeding 0.5 mm along the entire profile length. Automated production lines ensure identicality of all planks. The "Korea Eco-Label" A+ certification confirms the highest level of ecological safety.

Extremely spacious cable channel with maximum capacity to accommodate numerous communications of various purposes. Relatively low weight of approximately 280–300 grams simplifies transportation and installation. 100% absolute moisture resistance makes the skirting board universally suitable for any room, including wet zones.
