More than 20 years on the market

The company's success began in 2002, when two artists — Andrey Ragozin and Evgeny Tsapko — created a small creative workshop for producing wooden carved items. The masters' work was quickly noticed, and within a year they were invited to participate in the reconstruction of the Konstantinovskiy Palace in Strelna.

After the success of this project, the company focused on recreating palace interiors, furniture, church furnishings, and carved decorations in various artistic styles. They worked with cultural heritage sites: The Hermitage, the Alexandrovsky Palace, the Troitsko-Izmaylovsky Cathedral, the Sheremetyevsky Mansion, and many others.

The masters' task — and still is — to create wooden items with the highest level of detail and understanding of every element, based on impeccable knowledge of artistic laws and interior styles.

The HI WOOD B90V1 baseboard made of polystyrene — high profile with decorative relief — is ideal for luxury apartments and penthouses with panoramic windows. Its 90 mm height and decorative relief create premium architectural expression. Painted in classic white, it evokes European elegance with attention to detail. In contrasting dark tones, it accentuates a modern interpretation of classic forms.

Creating a respectable interior with high ceilings requires the use of proportionate architectural elements that emphasize the scale of the space and create an expressive frame.Polystyrene baseboardModel B90V1 from the South Korean manufacturer HI WOOD with dimensions 90 × 14 × 2000 mm is a high, expressive profile with a sculpted decorative relief, specifically designed for spacious rooms with ceiling heights of 2.8 meters and above. ThisPolystyrene floor baseboardcombines impressive height of 90 mm, creating a powerful visual accent and architectural dominance in the interior, with optimal thickness of 14 mm, ensuring an ideal balance between structural rigidity, secure mounting, and elegant form.

Height of 90 mm belongs to the premium segment of high baseboards and is an ideal choice for spacious rooms of large area, country houses with high ceilings, luxury apartments, executive offices, and public spaces with ceiling heights of 2.8–3.5 meters. Such impressive height creates an expressive architectural frame of colossal scale, visually structuring the space along the perimeter, emphasizing the room’s scale, giving the interior a respectable, prestigious character, and creating a sense of solidity, reliability, and prestige. The 90 mm profile becomes a noticeable independent architectural design element that defines the character of the interior and sets the tone for the entire space’s decoration.

Thickness of 14 mm represents an increased value that ensures enhanced rigidity of the 90 mm high profile and creates a reliable mounting surface for applying sufficient amount ofadhesive for polystyrene baseboards. This thickness guarantees that the high profile will not bend during installation even on walls with minor irregularities up to 3–4 mm, reliably maintains the desired shape after installation throughout the entire service life, and creates a strong connection with the wall. At the same time, the profile does not appear overly bulky or cumbersome due to carefully calibrated cross-sectional proportions and elegant form with decorative relief.

The distinctive feature of model B90V1 is an expressive sculpted profile with decorative elements that create rich architectural expressiveness and visual depth. The profile cross-section has characteristic horizontal grooves, protrusions, and relief stripes forming a play of light and shadow on the surface of the high baseboard. This detailed relief processing makes baseboard B90V1 especially suitable for classical, neoclassical, baroque, and traditional interiors, where carefully considered architectural elements, refined decorative details, and attention to decor are valued.

The production material — phytopolymer (high-density polystyrene, duro-polymer) with density 680 kg/m³ — provides a unique combination of strength, lightness, and durability even for a high profile with decorative relief. One linear meter of baseboard B90V1 weighs only about 165 grams, which is 5–6 times less than similar high baseboards made of MDF or solid wood. Standard plank length of 2000 mm allows effectively covering the perimeter of spacious rooms with optimal number of joints.

Absolute water resistance of 100% makespolystyrene floor baseboarduniversal for any rooms, including wet zones. The matte white surface ready for painting opens up limitless possibilities for implementing the most daring design solutions.

Phytopolymer of the highest quality, manufactured in South Korea

The base of baseboard B90V1 is phytopolymer — high-density polystyrene of the latest generation, produced by HI WOOD company using a patented South Korean technology with more than thirty years of continuous improvement of production processes, implementation of breakthrough technological innovations, and strict multi-stage quality control at every production stage. This thermoplastic polymer is created by high-precision extrusion of molten polystyrene at strictly controlled temperature 200–220°C through a special multi-channel die head of complex configuration, capable of forming a thin decorative relief with precision up to 0.05 mm, followed by molding under pressure 25–30 MPa in vacuum chambers with programmable multi-stage cooling and precise stabilization of the high-profile geometry.

Material density 680 kg/m³ — a key indicator of premium quality, ensuring exceptional mechanical strength while maintaining minimal weight even for a high 90 mm profile with decorative relief and 14 mm thickness. This density is 27–45 times higher than ordinary EPS polystyrene (15–25 kg/m³) and comparable to the density of hardwoods such as oak (650–750 kg/m³). Such outstanding density provides bending strength of 45–50 MPa, tensile strength of 40–45 MPa, modulus of elasticity 2500–3000 MPa, and impact toughness of 10–12 kJ/m², which is comparable to or even exceeds the characteristics of many natural wood species.

Water resistance of phytopolymer reaches absolute 100% — the material does not absorb water even after prolonged immersion for 96 hours and more in laboratory conditions according to international testing standards. Water absorption over 24 hours is less than 0.1% by mass, which is practically zero and dozens of times lower than the indicators of all alternative materials: natural wood 15–20%, MDF 8–12%, gypsum 5–10%, polyurethane 0.5–1%. This means thatPolystyrene floor baseboardB90V1 can be installed without hesitation in the most extreme conditions of high humidity — bathrooms with shower cabins and steam generators, toilets, kitchens with constant cooking, laundries, swimming pools, saunas and steam rooms with temperature up to 80°C and humidity up to 100%. The material absolutely does not swell from moisture, does not deform under humidity fluctuations, does not rot and does not develop mold even under constant dampness.

Material temperature stability covers the widest range from -50°C to +80°C without any change in physical, mechanical, and geometric properties. The baseboard does not soften or deform when heated from underfloor heating systems with surface temperature up to 32°C, radiators with temperature up to 75°C, convector heaters with forced circulation, or summer heat. When cooled, the material does not become brittle, does not crack, and retains elasticity even at -40°C. The linear thermal expansion coefficient is only 0.06–0.08 mm per meter for a 10°C temperature change — the lowest value among all finishing materials, practically eliminating the appearance of gaps at plank joints during seasonal temperature fluctuations.

Chemical resistance of phytopolymer ensures stability against most household substances and aggressive environments. The material absolutely does not react with water of any hardness and temperature, soapy solutions of any concentration, most household cleaning and washing agents based on water, weak acids and alkalis with concentration up to 5–10%, salt solutions, alcohols, oils and fats. It is critically important to remember that polystyrene is absolutely incompatible with organic solvents — acetone, toluene, white spirit, gasoline. These substances destroy the material’s structure.

Ecological safety of HI WOOD products is confirmed by prestigious international certification "Korea Eco-Label" — the highest class A+ eco-label. The material is guaranteed to contain no formaldehyde, phenol, phthalates, heavy metals, asbestos, or other toxic substances. It does not emit volatile organic compounds (VOC) even when heated to 80°C for a prolonged period. Phytopolymer is chemically inert, odorless even in freshly unpacked state, hypoallergenic, and absolutely safe for health of all population groups.

Architectural geometry of high profile

Dimensions 90 × 14 mm represent the result of long-term architectural research, design development, and deep analysis of consumer preferences in various European and Asian countries. Height of 90 mm belongs to the category of premium high baseboards and is one of the most popular sizes for decorating elite interiors with high ceilings in European and American traditions.

Height of 90 mm provides powerful visual impact — the baseboard becomes a noticeable architectural element that structures the space, creates an expressive frame, and gives the interior scale, solidity, and respectability. The 90 mm profile most effectively conceals increased technological compensation gaps of 15–20 mm between floor covering and wall in spacious rooms larger than 40 m², masks significant irregularities of junction up to 8–10 mm, and provides maximum protection for the lower part of the wall from mechanical damage at height unreachable for standard baseboards.

Thickness of 14 mm represents an increased value that ensures enhanced rigidity of the 90 mm high profile. This thickness creates a reliable mounting surface of about 13 mm width for applying sufficient amount of mounting adhesive, guaranteeing strong connection of the high profile to the wall along the entire 90 mm height. At the same time, the baseboard does not appear overly bulky due to thoughtful proportions.

Profile cross-section of B90V1 is executed in classic elegant form with expressive sculpted relief. Front surface has characteristic decorative elements — horizontal protruding strips and recessed grooves, which create rich play of light and shadow, give the high profile visual depth, volume, and architectural expressiveness. Relief is formed by high-precision extrusion with accuracy up to 0.05 mm, guaranteeing identical appearance of all planks in a batch and perfect element alignment. Relief clarity is preserved along the entire 2000 mm profile length without distortions or defects.

Profile shape is carefully designed considering ergonomics and practicality — all transitions between planes are smooth, rounded edges with radius of 2–3 mm eliminate risk of sharp corners and significantly facilitate wet cleaning of the room. Upper part of the baseboard has smooth connection with the wall, lower part tightly adheres to the floor at 90-degree angle.

Baseboard B90V1 construction includes an internal cavity of significant volume — functional cable channel with width of about 11 mm and height up to 70 mm. In this spacious cavity, numerous wires and cables of various purposes — telephone, Ethernet internet, TV cable, audio wires with total cross-section up to 32 mm² — can be placed. This allows completely avoiding labor-intensive wall drilling for communication installation.

Standard plank length of 2000 mm is optimal for transportation in a car and carrying by one person due to weight of 165 grams per meter. Whentwo strips with one joint cover a 4-meter section, which corresponds to the typical dimensions of spacious rooms in luxury apartments and premium-class private homes.two planks cover a section of 4 meters.

Applications of high baseboard with decorative relief

High baseboard B90V1 with 90 mm height and sculpted relief finds application in the most prestigious interior projects. In country houses and cottages with ceiling heights of 2.8–3.5 meters, thisPolystyrene baseboardcreates harmonious framing for spacious halls, living rooms, dining rooms, and grand bedrooms, emphasizing the scale and respectability of the space. Sculpted relief adds classical elegance and architectural detailing to the interior.

Durability is determined by material quality and proper installation. When installed according to technology, the product retains its properties for 15–20 years or more. Polystyrene does not age or fade under sunlight due to UV stabilizers. The product painted with high-quality paints is additionally protected.

In representative offices, banks, legal firms, and consulting companies, a high baseboard with relief creates a solid business atmosphere. The 90 mm height emphasizes the seriousness and reliability of the company. The decorative relief adds a sense of respectability.

In high-end restaurants, luxury hotels, and luxury spa centers, a 90 mm high baseboard with a decorative profile creates a sense of premium service and attention to detail. The material's durability ensures long-term performance under intensive commercial use.

In museums, art galleries, exhibition halls, and auction houses, a high baseboard with a classic relief creates a museum-style finish. The neutral white color does not distract from the exhibits, and the increased height matches the scale of the exhibition spaces.

In concert halls, theaters, philharmonics, and opera houses, a 90 mm high baseboard with architectural relief harmonizes with high ceilings and formal decor of public cultural spaces.

In country clubs, golf clubs, yacht clubs, and residences, a high baseboard creates an atmosphere of prestige and high status. The decorative relief emphasizes attention to architectural details.

Professional installation technology for high baseboards

Preparation for installing a high baseboard with relief begins with mandatory acclimatization of the material in the room for at least 48-72 hours at a temperature of +18...+22°C and relative humidity of 40-60%. Planks remain in factory packaging, strictly horizontally, on a flat stable surface, away from heating appliances and direct sunlight.

The wall surface must be perfectly flat with a deviation of no more than 2-3 mm per linear meter, absolutely clean without dust or dirt, dry with moisture content not exceeding 10% by mass, and fully degreased. All protruding irregularities exceeding 2 mm are removed by sanding. Large dents deeper than 3 mm are filled with putty.

For mounting the high profile, useadhesives for polystyrene skirting boardsHigh-strength water-based adhesives: acrylic adhesives of the "liquid nails" type with high initial tack, MS-polymer-based adhesive-sealants with elastic joints, and the proprietary HI WOOD HD1000 adhesive. It is strictly prohibited to use adhesives with organic solvents.

Adhesive is applied to the back of the baseboard in a continuous wavy line or in dotted lines with an interval of 8-10 cm. For a 90 mm high profile, it is recommended to apply adhesive over the entire mounting surface for maximum connection strength. The baseboard is pressed firmly against the wall vertically and held tightly for 20-30 seconds to allow initial adhesive setting.

For a 90 mm high profile, temporary fixation with painter’s tape at intervals of 30-40 cm is recommended during adhesive polymerization. The tape is carefully removed after 2-3 hours. Full polymerization occurs within 24 hours.

Due to its low weight of 165 grams per meter, even a 90 mm high profile securely adheres to the wall without additional mechanical fixation using screws. This is an important advantage — the absence of through holes improves aesthetics and does not compromise the integrity of the decorative relief.

Cutting and finishing corners of high baseboards

Questionhow to cut polystyrene skirting boardA 90 mm high baseboard with decorative relief — a circular saw with a disc diameter of at least 300 mm ensures a clean, precise cut without chipping the relief. The saw must have a laser pointer and precise angle adjustment. For a high baseboard with a decorative profile, especially accurate 45-degree angle cutting is critical for perfect relief alignment at corners.

Many askhow to cut polystyrene baseboardA 90 mm high baseboard — a professional metal hacksaw with a deep blade length of at least 300 mm, combined with a high stand depth of at least 100 mm, is suitable for home use. Cutting is performed with smooth, steady movements at a rate of 30-40 strokes per minute.

To create internal and external corners, the ends are beveled at a precise 45-degree angle. Board joints are assembled using careful pre-fitting without adhesive. For a 90 mm high profile with decorative relief, precision beveling is critical — any gaps will be very noticeable, and mismatched relief is unacceptable.

Angular joints are filled with white acrylic sealant with minimal shrinkage of no more than 2%. The sealant is applied directly into the joint gap using a caulking gun with a 45-degree angled nozzle. Excess material is immediately removed with a rubber spatula. The joint is carefully smoothed with a wet finger or sponge, forming a seamless, unnoticeable transition between boards with perfect relief alignment.

After the sealant has fully dried for 4-6 hours, the joint may be lightly sanded with fine-grit sandpaper to remove micro-irregularities. Then, the joint is painted with the same paint as the baseboard. A properly executed angular joint, after painting, should be virtually invisible with perfect decorative relief alignment.

Painting high baseboards with relief

Questionhow to paint a polystyrene skirting boardA 90 mm high baseboard with decorative relief has one clear answer — only water-based paints without organic solvents. The baseboard surface has a specially prepared fine-pored structure ready for painting without prior priming.

For painting high baseboards with decorative relief, professional acrylic water-dispersible interior paints with high opacity are used — they dry quickly in 2-4 hours, have no odor, are environmentally safe, and form a durable coating. Premium-grade latex paints create a denser, more wear-resistant film with a soft sheen. Silicone paints provide maximum moisture resistance and vapor permeability for humid areas.

It is strictly prohibited to use solvent-based paints — alkyd enamels, oil-based paints, nitrocellulose lacquers, and polyurethane enamels with solvents. Solvents destroy the polystyrene structure.

Application is performed with a synthetic bristle brush 40-50 mm wide or a microfiber roller. The brush allows thorough painting of the decorative relief, grooves, and profile recesses — critically important for profiled baseboards. The roller speeds up work on flat surfaces. The first layer is applied thinly and evenly over the entire 90 mm height without runs. After full drying within 3-4 hours, a second layer is applied to achieve uniform, saturated color. For a high profile with relief, usually two coats of quality paint are sufficient.

Color solutions for high baseboards with relief

Classic white painting remains the most popular choice for high baseboards with decorative relief in luxury interiors. A 90 mm high white baseboard visually expands the space, creates a sense of cleanliness and freshness, and emphasizes the clear geometry of the room. The white color maximally highlights the decorative relief through play of light and shadow.

Painting in the same color as the walls using the "tone-on-tone" technique creates visual continuity of the space. A 90 mm high baseboard with relief, painted in the same color as the walls, visually blends with vertical surfaces, while the relief remains noticeable due to shadows.

Contrasting painting creates dramatic, expressive effects. A dark 90 mm high baseboard with relief on light walls emphasizes the boundary and creates a clear line. A black, anthracite, or dark gray baseboard on white walls looks stylish in modern interpretations of classic design.

Painting in the color of the floor finish creates a visual continuation of the floor. Modern acrylic paints allow imitation of any wood species, from light beech to dark wenge, making the baseboard appear as an extension of parquet or laminate.

Painting with patina or gold leafing creates luxurious effects for classic interiors. The relief stands out with gold or silver patina in recesses, creating the effect of expensive moldings.

Care and maintenance of high baseboards

Correctly installedpolystyrene floor baseboardB90V1 requires virtually no special care. It is sufficient to wipe it periodically with a damp cloth during general room cleaning. Polystyrene is resistant to most water-based household cleaning agents.

For cleaning the decorative relief from dust, it is convenient to use a soft brush or vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment. It is important to avoid abrasive cleaning agents with hard particles that may scratch the painted surface.

Durability is determined by the quality of the material and proper installation. When the technology is followed, the product retains its properties for 15-20 years or more. Polystyrene does not age or fade in the sun due to UV stabilizers. A product painted with quality paints is additionally protected.

If necessary to refresh the color, the skirting board can be repainted. The surface is cleaned of dirt, lightly sanded with fine-grit sandpaper to improve adhesion, wiped clean with a damp cloth, and covered with new paint. The ability to repaint multiple times allows updating the interior without removing the skirting boards.

Advantages of the B90V1 skirting board

The height of 90 mm is optimal for spacious rooms with ceilings of 2.8-3.5 meters and creates an expressive monumental frame. The decorative molded relief adds architectural expressiveness and suits classical, neoclassical, and traditional interiors. The thickness of 14 mm provides increased rigidity of the high profile.

South Korean HI WOOD quality guarantees the highest geometric accuracy with deviations no more than 0.5 mm and perfect clarity of the decorative relief. Automated lines with computer control ensure identical appearance of all planks in a batch and perfect alignment of relief elements.

The 'Korea Eco-Label' A+ certification confirms the highest level of ecological safety. The accessible price is 2-3 times lower than similar high skirting boards with relief made of MDF, solid wood, plaster, or polyurethane with comparable or superior quality.

The spacious cable channel allows laying multiple communications without wall drilling. The lightweight 165 grams simplifies transportation and installation. Absolute moisture resistance makes the skirting board universal for any room.
