More than 20 years on the market

The company's success began in 2002, when two artists — Andrey Ragozin and Evgeny Tsapko — created a small creative workshop for producing wooden carved items. The masters' work was quickly noticed, and within a year they were invited to participate in the reconstruction of the Konstantinovskiy Palace in Strelna.

After the success of this project, the company focused on recreating palace interiors, furniture, church furnishings, and carved decorations in various artistic styles. They worked with cultural heritage sites: The Hermitage, the Alexandrovsky Palace, the Troitsko-Izmaylovsky Cathedral, the Sheremetyevsky Mansion, and many others.

The masters' task — and still is — to create wooden items with the highest level of detail and understanding of every element, based on impeccable knowledge of artistic laws and interior styles.

Baseboard B80C from polystyrene HI WOOD — an elegant solution for spacious interiors

The completeness and harmony of an interior are determined by attention to details, among which the floor baseboard occupies a special place as an element that unites vertical and horizontal planes of space.Polystyrene baseboardThe model B80C from the South Korean manufacturer HI WOOD with dimensions 80 × 11 × 2000 mm represents an elegant classic solution with increased height and minimalist thickness for spaces where expressive yet elegant framing is required. ThisPolystyrene floor baseboardcombines increased height of 80 mm, creating a noticeable architectural framing, with minimalist thickness of 11 mm, providing visual lightness and elegance of profile.

Height of 80 mm belongs to the category of increased floor baseboards and is an optimal choice for rooms with slightly higher ceilings 2.6–2.8 meters, typical of apartments with improved layouts, premium-class country cottages, elite townhouses, and modern business-class office buildings. Such height creates a striking visual impact — the baseboard becomes a noticeable architectural element that structures the space along the perimeter, creates a solid framing of the room, and gives the interior a respectable, dignified character. At the same time, the profile does not appear overly bulky and retains elegance due to carefully considered cross-sectional proportions and minimalist thickness.

Thickness of 11 mm makes the baseboard B80C one of the thinnest among profiles with increased height in the HI WOOD line. This minimalist thickness creates a unique combination — height of 80 mm ensures expressiveness and solidity of framing, while thickness of 11 mm gives the profile visual lightness, elegance, and refinement of lines. Such a combination of dimensions is ideal for modern interiors, where balance between functionality and aesthetics, between expressiveness and restrained forms is valued. The thin profile barely protrudes from the wall and does not create obstacles for placing furniture close to walls, which is especially relevant for built-in wardrobes, kitchen sets, and shelves.

Standard plank length of 2000 mm allows effectively covering the perimeter of a standard room with minimal joints and minimal material waste when cutting to specific room dimensions. The material is a phytopolymer (high-density polystyrene, also known as duro-polymer) with density 680 kg/m³ — providing a unique combination of high strength, minimal weight, durability, and universal applicability under any operating conditions. One linear meter of baseboard B80C weighs only about 115 grams, which is 5–6 times less than similar baseboards made of MDF or solid wood, and 10–12 times less than gypsum or concrete baseboards of similar height.

Absolute water resistance of 100% makespolystyrene floor baseboarduniversal for any rooms including bathrooms with shower cabins, toilets, kitchens with high humidity, laundries, swimming pools and other wet zones. The matte white surface is ready for painting, offering unlimited possibilities for color decoration — from classic white to the most daring contrasting and accent solutions, from neutral pastel tones to saturated dark shades.

Phytopolymer of the highest quality, manufactured in South Korea

The baseboard B80C is made of phytopolymer — high-density polystyrene of the latest generation, produced by the company HI WOOD using a patented South Korean technology with more than thirty years of continuous improvement of production processes, implementation of technological innovations, and strict multi-stage quality control at every stage of production, from raw material procurement to packaging of finished products. This thermoplastic polymer is created by high-precision extrusion of molten polystyrene at strictly controlled temperature 200–220°C through a special multi-channel die head with micrometer-level positioning accuracy, followed by molding under pressure 25–30 MPa in vacuum chambers with programmable multi-stage cooling and precise stabilization of the geometry of the thin profile with height 80 mm and thickness 11 mm.

Material density 680 kg/m³ — a key quality indicator ensuring exceptional mechanical strength while maintaining minimal weight even for a thin profile of 11 mm thickness. To understand the uniqueness of this high-tech material, it is necessary to compare it with traditional materials: density of ordinary expanded polystyrene (EPS), widely used for facade insulation and structural insulation, is only 15–25 kg/m³, i.e., phytopolymer is 27–45 times denser. Density of natural pine wood is 450–550 kg/m³, birch 550–650 kg/m³, oak 650–750 kg/m³, i.e., phytopolymer exceeds softwoods in density and is comparable to hardwoods. Such outstanding density ensures bending strength of 45–50 MPa, tensile strength of 40–45 MPa, flexural modulus of 2500–3000 MPa, and impact toughness of 10–12 kJ/m², which is comparable or even exceeds characteristics of many natural wood species of medium and high density.

Water resistance of phytopolymer reaches absolute 100% — the material does not absorb water even after prolonged immersion for 96 hours and more under laboratory conditions according to international test standards ISO and ASTM. Water absorption over 24 hours is less than 0.1% by mass, which is practically zero and dozens of times lower than indicators of all alternative materials used for producing baseboards: natural wood has water absorption of 15–20%, MDF — 8–12%, gypsum — 5–10%, even polyurethane — 0.5–1%. This means thatPolystyrene floor baseboardB80C can be installed without hesitation in the most extreme conditions of high humidity and direct contact with water — bathrooms with shower cabins, steam generators and jacuzzis, showers with air humidity up to 100%, toilets with poor ventilation, kitchens with constant food preparation and high humidity, laundries with industrial washing and drying machines, swimming pools with direct contact with water, saunas and steam rooms with temperature up to 80°C and humidity up to 100%.

Material temperature stability covers the widest range from -50°C to +80°C without any change in physical, mechanical, geometric, or aesthetic properties of the product. The baseboard does not soften, does not deform, does not lose strength, does not change color or geometry when heated from underfloor heating systems with surface temperature up to 32°C, from radiators with temperature up to 75°C, from convector heaters with forced hot air circulation, from infrared heaters or extreme summer heat up to +50°C in enclosed rooms on the sun-facing side of the building. When cooled, the material does not become brittle, does not crack, does not break, and retains a certain elasticity even at temperatures of -40°C and below, which is relevant for unheated rooms, winter gardens, verandas, terraces, balconies, loggias, cottages, and country houses with seasonal occupancy during winter.

Coefficient of linear thermal expansion is only 0.06–0.08 mm per meter for a 10°C temperature change — the minimum value among all construction and finishing materials, practically eliminating the appearance of gaps at plank joints during seasonal temperature fluctuations from winter to summer and back. For comparison: coefficient of wood expansion is 0.3–0.6 mm per meter, MDF — 0.2–0.4 mm per meter, gypsum — 0.15–0.25 mm per meter, i.e., phytopolymer is 3–8 times more stable than alternative materials.

Chemical resistance of phytopolymer ensures stability against exposure to most household substances, aggressive environments, and chemical compounds that a floor baseboard may encounter during operation. The material reacts absolutely neutrally to water of any hardness, temperature, and chemical composition, soap solutions of any concentration, most household cleaning and washing agents on water-based basis including alkaline and acidic compositions for cleaning sanitary ware, weak acids and alkalis with concentration up to 5–10%, salt solutions of any concentration, alcohols of all types including isopropyl and ethyl, vegetable and mineral oils, animal fats, and synthetic oils. However, it is critically important to remember and strictly adhere to the rule that polystyrene is absolutely incompatible with organic solvents — acetone, toluene, xylene, white spirit, gasoline, kerosene, ethyl acetate, dichloroethane, and other volatile organic liquids. These substances react chemically with polystyrene, causing softening, deformation, bubble formation, color change, or complete dissolution of the material even after brief contact.

Ecological safety of HI WOOD products is confirmed by prestigious international certification "Korea Eco-Label" — the highest class A+ eco-label awarded only to products that have passed strict multi-stage tests in independent accredited international laboratories for absence of harmful emissions, toxic components, and allergenic substances according to the strictest international standards for human health and environmental safety. The material is guaranteed to contain no formaldehyde, phenol, phthalates, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), heavy metals (lead, mercury, cadmium, chromium, arsenic, nickel), asbestos, dioxins, furans, and other particularly hazardous substances from the extended REACH list of the European Union and similar international registries of hazardous substances. Does not emit volatile organic compounds (VOC) even when heated to 80°C for a long time and under intensive operation at high temperatures. Phytopolymer is chemically absolutely inert, does not react with other interior materials, has no odor even in freshly unpacked state immediately after production, is hypoallergenic, and absolutely safe for health of all population categories without any exceptions including children, pregnant women, people with allergies, asthma, heightened sensitivity, and household pets.

Architectural geometry of an elegant profile with increased height

Dimensions 80 × 11 mm represent the result of long-term architectural research, design development, practical testing under real operating conditions, and deep statistical analysis of preferences of tens of thousands of consumers in various countries of Europe, Asia, America, and other regions of the world. Height of 80 mm belongs to the category of increased floor baseboards and is one of the most popular sizes in European practice of premium-class interior design over the past decade. This height is considered optimal for rooms with slightly higher ceilings 2.6–2.8 meters, typical of modern apartments with improved layouts, individual country houses and premium-class cottages, townhouses, and business-class office buildings.

Height of 80 mm provides a striking visual effect and a solid impression — the baseboard becomes a noticeable architectural element that effectively structures the space along the perimeter of the room, creates a powerful framing, and gives the interior a respectable, dignified character. At the same time, the profile does not appear overly bulky, cumbersome, or overwhelming the space due to minimalist thickness of 11 mm and carefully considered cross-sectional proportions with smooth transitions. Profile height of 80 mm most effectively conceals increased technological compensation gaps of 12–15 mm between floor covering and wall, which must be left in spacious rooms larger than 30 m² according to laying technology to compensate for thermal-humidity expansion of wide-format laminate, large-format solid wood, parquet, and other wooden floor materials that change their linear dimensions with changes in temperature and humidity of the surrounding environment.

Height of 80 mm also reliably masks significant wall-to-floor irregularities up to 6–8 mm, which may occur even in high-quality repairs of spacious rooms with complex wall geometry. The lower part of the wall up to 80 mm height receives maximum reliable protection against various mechanical damages from moving heavy furniture on wheels, from foot and shoe impacts during walking, from scratches by vacuum cleaners, mops, and other cleaning equipment during regular wet cleaning, from dirt and water splashes during intensive floor cleaning.

Thickness of 11 mm makes the baseboard B80C unique in the HI WOOD line — it is one of the thinnest profiles among baseboards with increased height of 80 mm. Minimalist thickness creates visual lightness, elegance, and refinement of lines even at significant profile height of 80 mm. Such a combination of dimensions ensures ideal balance — height of 80 mm creates expressive, solid framing and reliable wall protection, while thickness of 11 mm gives the profile a modern minimalist character and visual lightness. Thin profile barely protrudes from the wall by only 11 mm and does not create any obstacles for placing furniture close to walls without gaps, which is especially relevant for built-in wardrobe cabinets, kitchen sets, shelves, chests, and other cabinetry that must stand as close to the wall as possible to save useful room area.

At the same time, thickness of 11 mm provides sufficient mounting surface width of about 10 mm for applying optimal amount of mountingadhesive for polystyrene baseboardswhich guarantees strong, reliable, long-lasting connection of the 80 mm high profile to the wall over the entire height for decades of operation. Thickness of 11 mm also ensures necessary structural rigidity — the profile practically does not sag during installation even on walls with minor irregularities up to 2–3 mm and reliably maintains the specified straight-line shape after installation without sagging or deformation throughout its service life.

The profile cross-section of baseboard B80C is designed in a classic elegant form with smooth front surface and characteristic decorative elements. Profile shape is carefully designed taking into account ergonomics of use and practicality of operation — all transitions between planes are smooth without sharp angles, rounded edges with radius of 2–3 mm eliminate risk of injury from sharp corners and significantly facilitate wet cleaning of the room, as dust and dirt do not accumulate on rounded surfaces. Upper part of the baseboard has smooth connection to the wall with angle around 100 degrees for optimal fit, lower part tightly adheres to the floor at 90-degree right angle, effectively covering the technological joint between floor covering and wall along the entire length of the room.

Baseboard B80C construction provides a significant internal cavity that forms a natural functional cable channel with width of about 9 mm and height up to 65 mm for convenient laying of various communications. In this spacious, capacious cavity, you can place numerous wires and cables of different purposes and cross-sections — landline and IP telephony, Ethernet internet of categories Cat5e/Cat6/Cat7, coaxial television cable, antenna cable for digital television, audio wires for home theater and multi-room audio systems, video surveillance system wires and other low-voltage systems with total cross-section up to 28 mm².

Standard plank length of 2000 mm is chosen with consideration of optimal balance between practicality of use, convenience of transportation, ergonomics of installation, and minimization of material waste. This length allows transporting baseboards in a standard passenger car of sedan or station wagon class with rear seats folded down, in a minibus, or on the roof rack of a car. A 2-meter plank can be easily carried, lifted, and installed by one person without helpers due to minimal weight of only 115 grams per linear meter.two strips with one joint cover a 4-meter section, which corresponds to the typical dimensions of spacious rooms in luxury apartments and premium-class private homes. Two planks with one joint cover a 4-meter section, which corresponds to typical room sizes in modern apartments and private homes.

70 mm high, demonstrates all the advantages of the material — withstands increased humidity from cooking and washing, temperature fluctuations from operating ovens and stoves, frequent intensive wet cleaning with aggressive cleaning agents. The material does not absorb grease, water, or odors, does not change color due to food dyes.polystyrene floor baseboard80 mm high, demonstrates all unique advantages of premium-grade material — withstands increased humidity from constant food preparation with steam and condensation, significant temperature fluctuations from operating ovens and cooktops heated to 200–300°C, frequent intensive wet cleaning with aggressive cleaning agents based on alkaline and acidic bases for removing grease. The material absolutely does not absorb grease even under prolonged exposure, water of any temperature, food dyes of all types, and cooking odors, does not change color due to exposure to various food substances, is easily cleaned with a regular sponge and soap solution, and retains its original appearance and whiteness for decades even under intensive use.

In bathrooms, toilets, and other wet areas, the 100% water resistance of the material allows installing the skirting board even in zones of direct intensive contact with water and steam — near tropical shower cabins, bathtubs with jacuzzi and hydromassage, sinks with splashing water, bidets, and toilets. The material is guaranteed not to rot even under constant moisture, does not swell from water even under prolonged contact, does not deform from humidity fluctuations from 20% to 100%, does not develop mold, fungi, moss, or bacterial deposits even under constant high humidity of 80–100%, poor ventilation, and absence of natural sunlight.

In hallways, entryways, and foyers, the 80 mm high skirting board reliably protects the lower part of the wall from mechanical damage during shoe removal and putting on, from dirt and dust from outside, from impacts of bags, umbrellas, suitcases, and other items that frequently contact walls in entry zones. The increased height of 80 mm provides more reliable and higher wall protection compared to standard 60–70 mm skirting boards. The strength of the polymeric material with an impact resistance of 10–12 kJ/m² ensures durability and resistance to damage in high-traffic and high-usage zones.

Professional skirting board installation technology

Preparation for skirting board installation begins with mandatory acclimatization of the material in the room where installation will be performed. Planks must be left for at least 24–48 hours at a temperature of +18...+22°C. The wall surface must be flat with a deviation of no more than 2–3 mm per meter, clean, dry, and degreased.

For mounting, useadhesives for polystyrene skirting boardswater-based adhesives: acrylic adhesives such as liquid nails, MS-polymer adhesives, and the proprietary HI WOOD HD1000. Adhesives with solvents are strictly prohibited.

Adhesive is applied to the back of the skirting board in a dotted line with an interval of 10–15 cm. The skirting board is pressed against the wall and held for 15–20 seconds. Due to its weight of 115 grams, the adhesive sets quickly. Excess adhesive is removed with a damp sponge.

Cutting and corner finishing

Questionhow to cut polystyrene skirting board— a panel saw gives precise results. For home use, a hacksaw with a blade is suitable.how to cut polystyrene baseboard— a construction knife for straight cuts.

For corners, ends are cut at 45 degrees. Joints are assembled using a fitting method. Joint filling is done with acrylic sealant, which is smoothed and painted.

Painting the baseboard

Questionhow to paint a polystyrene skirting board— only water-based paints. Acrylic paints are ideal. Latex paints create a wear-resistant coating. Silicone paints are maximally water-resistant.

Paints with solvents are strictly prohibited. Application is done with a brush or roller in 2 coats.
