More than 20 years on the market

The company's success began in 2002, when two artists — Andrey Ragozin and Evgeny Tsapko — created a small creative workshop for producing wooden carved items. The masters' work was quickly noticed, and within a year they were invited to participate in the reconstruction of the Konstantinovskiy Palace in Strelna.

After the success of this project, the company focused on recreating palace interiors, furniture, church furnishings, and carved decorations in various artistic styles. They worked with cultural heritage sites: The Hermitage, the Alexandrovsky Palace, the Troitsko-Izmaylovsky Cathedral, the Sheremetyevsky Mansion, and many others.

The masters' task — and still is — to create wooden items with the highest level of detail and understanding of every element, based on impeccable knowledge of artistic laws and interior styles.

Baseboard B70V2 from polystyrene HI WOOD — a classic solution for elegant interiors

Creating a finished, harmonious interior requires careful attention to the selection of every detail, including baseboards.Polystyrene baseboardmodel B70V2 from the South Korean manufacturer HI WOOD with dimensions 69 × 14 × 2000 mm represents a classic solution for standard residential and commercial spaces. ThisPolystyrene floor baseboardcombines optimal height of 69 mm, which is ideal for rooms with ceilings 2.5–2.8 meters high, with increased thickness of 14 mm, ensuring maximum mounting reliability and profile stability.

Height of 69 mm is one of the most popular sizes in European interior design tradition and represents a compromise between compactness and expressiveness. This height creates a visually complete transition from wall to floor, effectively conceals technological gaps between flooring and wall, protects the lower part of the wall from mechanical damage and dirt during cleaning. At the same time, the profile does not appear bulky and does not overload the space, preserving the elegance and lightness of the interior.

Thickness of 14 mm makes the baseboard B70V2 one of the most robust in the HI WOOD line, providing increased structural rigidity and mounting reliability. Increased thickness creates a substantial mounting surface for applyingadhesive for polystyrene baseboardsand guarantees that the profile will not bend during installation even on walls with minor irregularities. Standard length of 2000 mm allows effectively covering the room's perimeter with minimal joints.

The production material — phytopolymer (high-density polystyrene) with density 680 kg/m³ — provides a unique combination of strength, lightness, and durability. One linear meter of baseboard weighs only about 130 grams, which is 4–5 times less than similar products made of MDF or wood. Absolute water resistance of 100% makespolystyrene floor baseboarduniversal for any rooms including bathrooms, kitchens, laundries, and toilets. Matte white surface for painting opens up endless possibilities for color decoration.

Premium-grade phytopolymer

The baseboard B70V2 is made of phytopolymer — high-density polystyrene of the latest generation, produced by HI WOOD using a patented South Korean technology with over thirty years of experience in refining manufacturing processes. This thermoplastic polymer is created by precision extrusion of molten polystyrene at strictly controlled temperature 200–220°C through a special multi-channel die head, followed by molding under pressure 25–30 MPa in vacuum chambers with programmable cooling. The complex multi-stage technological process with computer control at each stage forms an absolutely dense, homogeneous structure without any voids, cavities, micropores, microcracks, or foreign inclusions.

Material density of 680 kg/m³ is a key quality indicator, ensuring maximum mechanical strength while maintaining minimal product weight. To understand the scale of differences: density of ordinary polystyrene foam used for facade insulation is only 15–25 kg/m³, i.e., phytopolymer is 27–45 times denser. Such outstanding density provides bending strength of 45–50 MPa, tensile strength of 40–45 MPa, and impact toughness of 10–12 kJ/m², which is comparable or even exceeds characteristics of some medium-density wood species. At the same time, one linear meter of baseboard B70V2 weighs only about 130 grams, making it exceptionally light despite impressive strength.

Water resistance of phytopolymer reaches absolute 100% — the material does not absorb water even after prolonged immersion for 72 hours or more. Water absorption over 24 hours is less than 0.1% by mass, which is practically zero and dozens of times lower than natural wood (15–20%), MDF (8–12%), and plaster (5–10%). This means thatPolystyrene floor baseboardB70V2 can be installed without hesitation in the most extreme conditions of high humidity — bathrooms with steam generators, showers with tropical showers, toilets, kitchens with constant cooking, laundries with dryers, pools, saunas, and steam rooms with temperature up to 80°C and humidity up to 100%.

Material temperature stability covers the widest range from -50°C to +80°C without any change in physical, mechanical, or geometric properties. The baseboard does not soften, deform, or lose strength when heated from underfloor heating systems with surface temperature up to 30°C, radiators with temperature up to 70°C, convector heaters, infrared heaters, or extreme summer heat up to +45°C in enclosed spaces. When cooled, the material does not become brittle, does not crack, does not break, and retains certain elasticity even at -40°C, which is relevant for unheated spaces, verandas, terraces, cottages, and country houses with seasonal occupancy. Linear thermal expansion coefficient is only 0.06–0.08 mm per meter for a 10°C temperature change — this is the minimum value among all construction and finishing materials, practically eliminating the appearance of gaps at joint seams due to seasonal temperature fluctuations from winter to summer.

Ecological safety of HI WOOD products is confirmed by prestigious international certification "Korea Eco-Label" — the highest class eco-label awarded only to products that have passed strict multi-stage tests in accredited laboratories for absence of harmful emissions, toxic components, and allergenic substances. The material does not contain formaldehyde, phenol, phthalates, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, heavy metals, asbestos, or other hazardous substances. Does not emit volatile organic compounds even when heated to 80°C. Phytopolymer is chemically absolutely inert, does not react with other materials, has no odor even in freshly unpacked state, is hypoallergenic, and absolutely safe for health of all population groups. The product is officially approved for use in kindergartens, schools, hospitals, medical facilities, children's rooms, and bedrooms.

Architectural geometry of high-strength profile

Dimensions 69 × 14 mm represent the result of long-term design developments, practical tests under real operating conditions, and analysis of consumer preferences in various European and Asian countries. Height of 69 mm belongs to the category of medium profiles and is a very popular size in European interior design tradition. This height provides excellent visual balance — the baseboard is sufficiently noticeable and creates an expressive framing of the room, effectively performing its decorative and protective functions, yet does not dominate the interior, does not visually overload the space, and does not attract excessive attention to itself.

Height of 69 mm effectively conceals the technological compensatory gap of 10–15 mm between flooring and wall, which must necessarily be left according to installation technology to compensate for thermal-hygrometric expansion of laminate, parquet, solid wood, engineered wood, and other wooden flooring materials. Height of 69 mm also reliably masks wall-to-floor irregularities up to 5–7 mm, which even occur in high-quality renovations. The lower part of the wall up to 69 mm height receives reliable protection from mechanical damage during furniture movement, from foot and shoe impacts, from vacuum cleaner and mop scratches during cleaning, from dirt and water splashes during wet floor cleaning.

Thickness of 14 mm makes the baseboard B70V2 one of the most robust and strong in the HI WOOD line. Increased thickness provides enhanced structural rigidity — the profile practically does not bend even when installed on walls with irregularities up to 3–4 mm. Thickness of 14 mm creates an optimal mounting surface for applying sufficient amount of mounting adhesive, ensuring strong and reliable connection to the wall. At the same time, the profile does not appear excessively bulky due to thoughtful proportions and elegant cross-sectional shape.

The cross-section of the baseboard B70V2 is designed in a classic elegant form with smooth curved transitions and soft rounded edges. The front surface has a characteristic decorative relief with several horizontal protruding bands, creating expressive play of light and shadow, adding volume and visual depth to the profile. The cross-sectional shape is designed with ergonomics and practicality in mind — all rounded edges with radius of 2–3 mm eliminate the risk of sharp corners and significantly facilitate wet cleaning, as dust does not accumulate on rounded surfaces. The upper part of the baseboard has a smooth transition to the wall with an angle of about 100 degrees, while the lower part tightly adheres to the floor at a 90-degree angle.

The baseboard B70V2 construction includes a significant internal cavity, forming a natural functional cable channel approximately 10 mm wide and up to 50 mm high. In this spacious cavity, wires and cables for telephone, Ethernet Cat5e/Cat6, coaxial TV, antenna, and other low-voltage systems with total cross-section up to 30 mm² can be placed. This allows completely avoiding labor-intensive, dusty, and noisy wall drilling for communication installation and significantly simplifies initial installation of communication systems, subsequent equipment modernization, furniture rearrangement, and room reconfiguration without the need to redo wiring.

Standard plank length of 2000 mm was chosen considering optimal balance between practical usage, transportation convenience, and ergonomic installation. This length allows transporting baseboards in a standard passenger car (sedan or station wagon with rear seats folded), minibus, or on roof-mounted cargo. A 2-meter plank can be easily carried, lifted, and installed by one person.two strips with one joint cover a 4-meter section, which corresponds to the typical dimensions of spacious rooms in luxury apartments and premium-class private homes. Two planks with one joint cover a 4-meter section, which corresponds to typical room sizes in modern apartments and private homes.

Applications of classic baseboard

Classic baseboard B70V2 with height of 69 mm finds the widest application in various types of rooms due to universal dimensions, robust construction, and neutral design. In apartments and houses with ceiling height of 2.5–2.8 meters, thisPolystyrene baseboardcreates a harmonious visually balanced transition from wall to floor, completing the space and giving the interior a finished professional look.

In living rooms and halls, baseboard with height of 69 mm creates an elegant framing that emphasizes the room's dignity. Painted white, it harmoniously complements classic interiors, moldings, and other decorative elements. Painted in contrasting dark color, it highlights the geometry of modern space.

In bedrooms, the baseboard creates a cozy atmosphere of completion. Ecological safety of the material is especially important for rest areas. Water resistance allows performing wet cleaning without concerns.

70 mm high, demonstrates all the advantages of the material — withstands increased humidity from cooking and washing, temperature fluctuations from operating ovens and stoves, frequent intensive wet cleaning with aggressive cleaning agents. The material does not absorb grease, water, or odors, does not change color due to food dyes.polystyrene floor baseboardHeight 69 mm withstands increased humidity from cooking, temperature fluctuations, and frequent wet cleaning with cleaning agents. The material does not absorb grease and odors.

In bathrooms and toilets, the material's absolute moisture resistance allows installing the skirting even in areas of direct contact with water. The material does not rot or develop mold even under constant humidity.

In hallways and entryways, the 69 mm high skirting reliably protects walls from mechanical damage caused by removing shoes and street dirt. The material's strength ensures durability in high-traffic zones.

In office spaces, the universal skirting creates a professional atmosphere. The increased thickness of 14 mm allows using the internal cavity for laying computer networks and telephone lines.

Professional installation technology

Preparation for installation begins with mandatory acclimatization of the material in the installation room for at least 24-48 hours at a temperature of +18...+22°C. Planks remain in factory packaging horizontally. The wall surface must be flat, with deviation no more than 2-3 mm per meter, clean, dry, with humidity not exceeding 10%, and degreased.

For mounting, specializedadhesives for polystyrene skirting boardsWater-based: acrylic adhesives of the "liquid nails" type with high initial tack, MS-polymer adhesives, and the proprietary HI WOOD HD1000 adhesive. Adhesives with organic solvents are strictly prohibited — they destroy polystyrene.

Adhesive is applied to the back of the skirting in a dashed line or zigzag pattern with an interval of 10-12 cm. For a 14 mm thick profile, adhesive is applied in a 4-5 mm wide strip. The skirting is pressed against the wall and held for 15-20 seconds. Excess adhesive is removed with a damp sponge.

Cutting and corner finishing

Questionhow to cut polystyrene skirting boardHeight 69 mm — a circular saw with a disc diameter of at least 250 mm provides the most accurate result. For home use, a metal hacksaw with a blade is suitable. Many are interested inhow to cut polystyrene baseboard— a sharp construction knife with replaceable blades is suitable for straight cuts.

To create corners, the ends are beveled at 45 degrees. Joints are assembled using a dry-fit method without adhesive. The joint is filled with acrylic sealant, which is smoothed and sanded after drying.

Painting the baseboard

Questionhow to paint a polystyrene skirting boardIt has a clear answer — only water-based paints. Acrylic water-dispersible paints are ideal. Latex paints create a more durable coating. Silicone paints provide maximum moisture resistance.

Paints with solvents are strictly prohibited — alkyd enamels, oil-based paints, nitro lacquers. When choosing paint, the composition must be studied — the solvent must be water.
