More than 20 years on the market
The company's success began in 2002, when two artists — Andrey Ragozin and Evgeny Tsapko — created a small creative workshop for producing wooden carved items. The masters' work was quickly noticed, and within a year they were invited to participate in the reconstruction of the Konstantinovskiy Palace in Strelna.
After the success of this project, the company focused on recreating palace interiors, furniture, church furnishings, and carved decorations in various artistic styles. They worked with cultural heritage sites: The Hermitage, the Alexandrovsky Palace, the Troitsko-Izmaylovsky Cathedral, the Sheremetyevsky Mansion, and many others.
The masters' task — and still is — to create wooden items with the highest level of detail and understanding of every element, based on impeccable knowledge of artistic laws and interior styles.

Baseboard B70V1 polystyrene HI WOOD — universal profile for standard interiors
Creating a finished, harmonious interior is impossible without the proper selection of baseboard, which unifies walls and floor, protects the lower part of the wall from damage, and gives the room a finished, professional look.Polystyrene baseboardModel B70V1 from the South Korean manufacturer HI WOOD with dimensions 70 × 12 × 2000 mm represents a universal classic solution for standard residential and commercial spaces of any purpose. ThisPolystyrene floor baseboardcombines optimal height of 70 mm, which is ideal for rooms with standard ceiling heights of 2.5–2.7 meters, with universal thickness of 12 mm, ensuring an ideal balance between mounting reliability and profile elegance.
Height of 70 mm is one of the most popular and demanded sizes in global interior design practice and is considered the gold standard for baseboards. This height provides optimal visual balance — the baseboard is sufficiently noticeable and creates an expressive framing of the room, effectively performing its decorative and protective functions, yet does not dominate the interior, does not visually overload the space, and does not attract undue attention. A 70 mm profile looks harmonious in any interior style, from classic to modern minimalism.
Thickness of 12 mm represents an optimal value that ensures sufficient rigidity of the 70 mm high profile without excessive bulk. This thickness creates a reliable mounting surface for applyingadhesive for polystyrene baseboardsand guarantees that the profile will not warp during installation even on walls with minor irregularities up to 2–3 mm. At the same time, the baseboard retains the elegance of its lines, does not appear bulky, and does not create obstacles for installing furniture flush against the walls. Standard plank length of 2000 mm allows effectively covering the perimeter of a standard room with minimal joints and minimal material waste.
Material of production — phytopolymer (high-density polystyrene, also known as duro-polymer) with density 680 kg/m³ — provides a unique combination of strength, lightness, durability, and universal applicability. One linear meter of baseboard B70V1 weighs only about 120 grams, which is 4–5 times less than similar baseboards made of MDF or solid wood, and 8–10 times less than gypsum baseboards. Absolute water resistance of 100% makespolystyrene floor baseboarduniversal for any rooms including bathrooms, toilets, kitchens, laundries and other wet zones. Matte white smooth surface for painting opens up unlimited possibilities for color decoration from classic white to the most daring contrasting solutions.
Phytopolymer as a material of the highest quality
The baseboard B70V1 is made of phytopolymer — premium-grade high-density polystyrene of the latest generation, produced by HI WOOD using a patented South Korean technology with more than thirty years of continuous improvement of production processes, implementation of innovations, and strict multi-stage quality control at every stage of production. This thermoplastic polymer is created by high-precision extrusion of molten polystyrene at strictly controlled temperature 200–220°C through a special multi-channel die head with micron-level positioning accuracy, followed by molding under pressure 25–30 MPa in vacuum chambers with programmable multi-stage cooling and precise profile geometry stabilization.
Material density of 680 kg/m³ is a key quality indicator, ensuring exceptional mechanical strength while maintaining minimal product weight. To understand the uniqueness of this material, comparison is necessary: density of ordinary EPS polystyrene, widely used for facade insulation, is only 15–25 kg/m³, i.e., phytopolymer is 27–45 times denser. Density of natural pine wood is 450–550 kg/m³, i.e., phytopolymer is even denser than some wood species. Such outstanding density ensures bending strength of 45–50 MPa, tensile strength of 40–45 MPa, flexural modulus of 2500–3000 MPa, and impact toughness of 10–12 kJ/m², which is comparable or even exceeds characteristics of many medium-density natural wood species.
Water resistance of phytopolymer reaches absolute 100% — the material does not absorb water even after prolonged immersion for 96 hours and more under laboratory conditions according to international testing standards. Water absorption over 24 hours is less than 0.1% by mass, which is practically zero and dozens of times lower than indicators of all alternative materials: natural wood has water absorption of 15–20%, MDF — 8–12%, gypsum — 5–10%, even polyurethane — 0.5–1%. This means thatPolystyrene floor baseboardB70V1 can be installed without hesitation in the most extreme conditions of high humidity — bathrooms with shower cabins and steam generators, showers with air humidity up to 100%, toilets, kitchens with constant cooking and high humidity, laundries with industrial washing and drying machines, pools with direct contact with water, saunas and steam rooms with temperature up to 80°C and humidity up to 100%.
Material temperature stability covers the widest range from -50°C to +80°C without any change in physical, mechanical, geometric, or aesthetic properties of the product. The baseboard does not soften, does not deform, does not lose strength, does not change color or geometry when heated by underfloor heating systems with surface temperature up to 32°C, radiators with temperature up to 75°C, convector heaters with forced hot air circulation, infrared heaters, or extreme summer heat up to +50°C in enclosed rooms on the sun-facing side of the building. When cooled, the material does not become brittle, does not crack, does not break, and retains certain elasticity even at temperatures of -40°C and below, which is relevant for unheated rooms, winter gardens, verandas, terraces, balconies, loggias, cottages, and country houses with seasonal occupancy.
Chemical resistance of phytopolymer ensures resistance to the effects of most household substances and aggressive environments. The material absolutely does not react with water of any hardness and temperature, soapy solutions of any concentration, most household cleaning and washing agents based on water, weak acids and alkalis up to 5% concentration, salt solutions of any concentration, alcohols, oils and fats. However, it is critically important to remember that polystyrene is absolutely incompatible with organic solvents — acetone, toluene, xylene, white spirit, gasoline, ethyl acetate, dichloroethane, and others. These substances undergo chemical reactions with polystyrene, causing softening, deformation, bubble formation, color change, or complete dissolution of the material.
Ecological safety of HI WOOD products is confirmed by prestigious international certification "Korea Eco-Label" — the highest class A+ eco-label, awarded only to products that have passed the strictest multi-stage tests in independent accredited international laboratories for absence of harmful emissions, toxic components, and allergenic substances according to the strictest international standards. The material is guaranteed to contain no formaldehyde, phenol, phthalates, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), heavy metals (lead, mercury, cadmium, chromium), asbestos, dioxins, or other hazardous substances from the extended REACH list of the European Union. Does not emit volatile organic compounds (VOC) even when heated to 80°C for a prolonged period. Phytopolymer is chemically absolutely inert, does not react with other materials, has no odor even in freshly unpacked state immediately after production, is hypoallergenic, and absolutely safe for health of all population categories without any exceptions.
Architectural geometry of classic profile
Dimensions 70 × 12 mm represent the result of long-term architectural research, design development, practical testing under real operating conditions, and deep statistical analysis of preferences of tens of thousands of consumers in various countries of Europe, Asia, America, and other regions of the world. Height of 70 mm belongs to the category of medium-height baseboards and is one of the most popular and demanded sizes in global interior design practice over the past decade. This height is considered classic, universal, and optimal for the overwhelming majority of residential and commercial spaces with standard ceiling heights of 2.5–2.7 meters, typical for modern multi-apartment buildings, cottages, townhouses, and office buildings.
Height of 70 mm provides excellent visual balance and harmonious proportions in the interior — the baseboard is sufficiently noticeable and creates an expressive clear framing of the room along the perimeter, effectively performing its numerous decorative and protective functions, yet does not dominate the interior as a standalone element, does not visually overload the space, does not attract undue attention, and does not compete with other decorative elements. Profile height of 70 mm most effectively conceals standard technological compensatory gaps of 10–12 mm between floor covering and wall, which must be left according to installation technology to compensate for thermal-humidity expansion of laminate, parquet, solid wood, engineered wood, and other wooden floor materials that change their linear dimensions with changes in temperature and humidity of the surrounding environment.
Thickness of 12 mm represents a universal optimal value, carefully calculated by HI WOOD engineers to ensure necessary rigidity of the 70 mm high profile without excessive bulk of the structure. This thickness creates sufficient mounting surface width of about 11 mm for applying optimal amount of mounting adhesive, which guarantees strong, reliable, long-lasting connection of the profile to the wall over the entire height of 70 mm. Thickness of 12 mm also provides the profile with necessary rigidity and resistance to deformation — the baseboard practically does not warp during installation even on walls with irregularities up to 2–3 mm and reliably maintains the specified shape after installation throughout the entire service life. At the same time, the profile does not appear excessively bulky due to thoughtful section proportions and elegant profile shape.
The profile cross-section of baseboard B70V1 is executed in a classic elegant form with a smooth front surface without decorative relief. This is a fundamental difference from other HI WOOD baseboard models, which have decorative horizontal stripes, grooves, or protrusions. Smooth surface makes profile B70V1 maximally universal and compatible with any interior styles, from strict minimalism to refined classic, from Scandinavian style to loft. Profile shape is designed with ergonomics and practicality of use in mind — all transitions are smooth, rounded edges with radius of 2–3 mm eliminate risk of sharp corners and significantly facilitate wet cleaning of the room.
Baseboard B70V1 features an internal cavity of significant volume, forming a natural functional cable channel approximately 9 mm wide and up to 55 mm high. In this spacious cavity, wires and cables of various purposes — landline and IP telephony, Ethernet Cat5e/Cat6 internet, coaxial TV cable, antenna cable, audio wires, and other low-voltage systems with total cross-section up to 28 mm² — can be placed. This allows completely avoiding labor-intensive, dusty, noisy, and costly wall drilling for communication installation.
Areas of application of universal baseboard
Universal baseboard B70V1 with height of 70 mm and smooth surface finds the widest application in various types of rooms of any purpose due to optimal dimensions, neutral design without decorative elements, and universal operational characteristics of the material. In apartments and houses with standard ceiling heights of 2.5–2.7 meters, thisPolystyrene baseboardcreates a harmonious visually balanced transition from wall to floor, completing the space and giving the interior a finished professional look of expertly executed renovation.
In living rooms and halls, baseboard with height of 70 mm and smooth surface creates an elegant unobtrusive framing that does not distract attention from main interior elements — furniture, decor, textiles, lighting. Painted white, it harmoniously combines with any interior styles. Painted to match wall color, it practically blends into the space, creating an effect of seamless transition. Painted in contrasting dark color, it emphasizes clear geometry of modern space.
The skirting board in bedrooms creates a calm, cozy atmosphere of completeness and safety. The smooth, relief-free surface does not accumulate dust, which is especially important for resting areas. The ecological safety of the material, confirmed by international certificates, is critically important for bedrooms, where a person spends one-third of their life.
70 mm high, demonstrates all the advantages of the material — withstands increased humidity from cooking and washing, temperature fluctuations from operating ovens and stoves, frequent intensive wet cleaning with aggressive cleaning agents. The material does not absorb grease, water, or odors, does not change color due to food dyes.polystyrene floor baseboardIn bathrooms and toilets, the 100% water resistance of the material allows installing baseboards even in areas of direct contact with water — near shower cabins, bathtubs, sinks. The material is guaranteed not to rot, swell, or develop mold or fungi even under constant humidity of 80-100% and poor ventilation.
In children's rooms, the baseboard is safe due to rounded shapes without sharp edges or corners, ecological purity of the material without harmful emissions, ease of care and wet cleaning. The material's strength ensures resistance to mechanical impacts during active children's play.
Preparation for installing the baseboard begins with mandatory acclimatization of the material in the room where the installation will be performed. Despite the minimal coefficient of thermal expansion of the fitopolymer, professional installers recommend leaving the baseboards for at least 24 hours, ideally 48-72 hours, at room temperature +18...+22°C and relative humidity 40-60%. The planks remain in factory packaging in a strictly horizontal position on a flat surface, away from heating appliances and direct sunlight.
Professional installation technology
The wall surface should be flat with a deviation of no more than 2-3 mm per linear meter, clean without dust or contaminants, dry with moisture content not exceeding 10% by mass, and free of grease and oil stains. All protruding irregularities exceeding 2 mm are removed by sanding; large dents deeper than 3 mm and cracks wider than 2 mm are filled with gypsum or cement putty flush with the wall surface.

Adhesive is applied to the back of the baseboard in a dashed line or continuous snake pattern with intervals of 10-15 cm. The baseboard is pressed against the wall and firmly pressed along its entire length for 15-20 seconds. Due to its low weight, the adhesive sets quickly. Excess adhesive is immediately wiped off with a damp sponge.
