More than 20 years on the market
The company's success began in 2002, when two artists — Andrey Ragozin and Evgeny Tsapko — created a small creative workshop for producing wooden carved items. The masters' work was quickly noticed, and within a year they were invited to participate in the reconstruction of the Konstantinovskiy Palace in Strelna.
After the success of this project, the company focused on recreating palace interiors, furniture, church furnishings, and carved decorations in various artistic styles. They worked with cultural heritage sites: The Hermitage, the Alexandrovsky Palace, the Troitsko-Izmaylovsky Cathedral, the Sheremetyevsky Mansion, and many others.
The masters' task — and still is — to create wooden items with the highest level of detail and understanding of every element, based on impeccable knowledge of artistic laws and interior styles.

Baseboard B70 polystyrene HI WOOD — classic elegance with a decorative stripe
Finishing elements of interior define the overall impression of the space, and baseboard plays a key role in this.Polystyrene baseboardModel B70 from the South Korean manufacturer HI WOOD with dimensions 70 × 10.5 × 2000 mm represents a classic solution with a characteristic decorative horizontal stripe, giving the profile architectural expressiveness. ThisPolystyrene floor baseboardCombines universal height of 70 mm with minimalist thickness of 10.5 mm, creating an ideal balance between functionality and aesthetics.
Height of 70 mm is a classic dimension in global interior design practice and is recognized as the gold standard for floor baseboards. This height is optimal for rooms with standard ceilings of 2.5–2.7 meters and ensures harmonious proportions — the profile is sufficiently noticeable to perform decorative and protective functions, but does not dominate the space. A 70 mm high baseboard effectively conceals technological gaps of 10–12 mm between floor covering and wall, necessary to compensate for laminate and parquet board expansion due to changes in humidity and temperature.
Thickness of 10.5 mm makes baseboard B70 one of the thinnest and most elegant in the HI WOOD line. Minimalist thickness creates a delicate transition from wall to floor, while the profile practically does not protrude from the wall and does not interfere with furniture placement close to the wall. This is especially important for built-in cabinets, kitchen sets, and shelves. At the same time, thickness of 10.5 mm provides sufficient area for reliable applicationadhesive for polystyrene baseboardsand secure mounting to the wall.
Distinctive feature of model B70 — decorative horizontal stripe at the top of the profile. This thin protruding line, about 2 mm wide, creates a shadow effect, emphasizes the horizontal nature of the baseboard, and adds visual depth to the profile. The decorative stripe makes the baseboard more refined and suitable for classic, neoclassical, and traditional interiors, where carefully considered architectural details are valued.
Production material — phytopolymer with density 680 kg/m³ — provides a unique combination of strength and lightness. One linear meter weighs only 105 grams, which is 5–6 times less than analogs made of MDF or wood. Absolute water resistance of 100% makespolystyrene floor baseboarduniversal for any room. Matte white surface suitable for painting allows implementing any color solutions.
Phytopolymer of Korean production
The baseboard B70 is made of phytopolymer — high-density polystyrene produced by HI WOOD using advanced South Korean technology with over thirty years of experience. This thermoplastic polymer is created by precision extrusion at 200–220°C, followed by molding under 25–30 MPa pressure in vacuum chambers.
Density 680 kg/m³ — key quality indicator. For comparison: ordinary polystyrene foam has density of only 15–25 kg/m³, i.e., phytopolymer is 27–45 times denser. Such density ensures bending strength of 45–50 MPa, comparable to wood characteristics. At the same time, the product’s weight is minimal — only 105 grams per linear meter.
Water resistance reaches absolute 100%. Water absorption within 24 hours is less than 0.1% by mass, which is dozens of times lower than wood (15–20%), MDF (8–12%) and plaster (5–10%). This means thatPolystyrene floor baseboardcan be installed in bathrooms, kitchens, toilets, laundry rooms, and even saunas. The material does not swell, does not rot, does not develop mold even at constant humidity up to 100%.
Temperature stability covers a range from -50°C to +80°C without property changes. The baseboard does not deform when heated by underfloor heating, radiators, or summer heat. When cooled, it retains elasticity even at -40°C. Coefficient of thermal expansion is minimal — 0.06 mm per meter for a 10°C temperature change, which prevents gaps at joints.
Chemical resistance ensures resistance to most household substances — water, soap solutions, cleaning agents, weak acids and alkalis, alcohols, oils. However, it is critically important to remember that polystyrene is incompatible with organic solvents — acetone, toluene, white spirit, gasoline. These substances destroy the material’s structure.
Ecological safety is confirmed by prestigious "Korea Eco-Label" certificate — the highest class A+ environmental mark. The material does not contain formaldehyde, phenol, phthalates, heavy metals, asbestos. Does not emit volatile organic compounds even when heated to 80°C. Phytopolymer is chemically inert, odorless, hypoallergenic, and absolutely safe for health.
Architecture of a thin profile
Dimensions 70 × 10.5 mm — result of long-term design development and analysis of consumer preferences in different countries. Height of 70 mm is considered classic and optimal for most residential and commercial spaces with ceilings of 2.5–2.7 meters.
A height of 70 mm ensures visual balance — the skirting board is sufficiently noticeable and creates an expressive frame, but does not overload the space. The profile effectively conceals compensating gaps between the floor and wall, masks irregularities of junction up to 5-7 mm, and protects the lower part of the wall from mechanical damage during cleaning, from shoe impacts, and from vacuum cleaner scratches.
A thickness of 10.5 mm creates the most elegant profile, which practically does not protrude from the wall. This is critically important for modern interiors, where minimalist forms are valued. The thin profile allows furniture to stand flush against walls without gaps. At the same time, the thickness provides a mounting surface of about 9.5 mm for secure adhesive attachment.
The profile section is designed in a classic form with a decorative strip. A strip approximately 2 mm wide and 1 mm deep is located at the top and creates a subtle shadow line. This detail adds architectural expressiveness, visual depth, and a multi-layered effect to the profile. The decorative strip emphasizes the horizontal nature of the skirting board and makes it especially suitable for classic interiors.
All profile transitions are smooth, with edges rounded to a radius of 2-3 mm. This eliminates the risk of injury from sharp corners and facilitates cleaning — dust does not accumulate on rounded surfaces. The upper part smoothly joins the wall, while the lower part fits tightly against the floor.
The construction includes an internal cavity — a cable channel approximately 8 mm wide and up to 55 mm high. It can accommodate internet, telephone, and television cables with a total cross-section up to 25 mm². This eliminates the need to drill grooves in walls for communication wiring and simplifies future communication system upgrades.
The standard length of 2000 mm is optimal for transportation in a passenger car and for carrying by one person. Two strips cover a 4-meter section, which corresponds to typical room dimensions. A length of 2000 mm minimizes waste during cutting.
Areas of application
The universal B70 skirting board with a decorative strip finds wide application due to its optimal dimensions, elegant design, and universal characteristics. In apartments and houses with ceilings 2.5–2.7 meters high, thisPolystyrene baseboardcreates a finished professional appearance.
In living rooms and halls, the skirting board with a decorative strip creates an elegant frame. The strip adds architectural expressiveness and emphasizes the dignity of the interior. Painted white, it harmonizes with classic styles. Painted to match wall color, it creates a seamless transition effect.
In bedrooms, it creates a cozy atmosphere. The minimal thickness of 10.5 mm allows furniture to stand as close as possible to the walls. Ecological safety, confirmed by international certifications, is critically important for rest areas.
In kitchens, the material withstands increased humidity from cooking, temperature fluctuations, and frequent cleaning with cleaning agents. It does not absorb grease, water, or odors. It is easy to clean and retains its original appearance for decades.
In bathrooms, absolute moisture resistance allows installing the skirting board in areas in contact with water — near shower cabins, bathtubs, and sinks. The material does not rot or develop mold even at 100% humidity and poor ventilation.
In children's rooms, it is safe due to rounded shapes, ecological safety, and ease of maintenance. The material's strength ensures resistance to mechanical impacts during children's play.
In hallways and entryways, it reliably protects walls from mechanical damage during shoe removal and from street dirt. The strength of the polymeric material ensures durability in high-traffic zones.
In offices, it creates a professional atmosphere. The decorative strip adds a sense of solidity. The cable channel allows laying computer networks and telephone lines without drilling.
In stores, salons, and cafes, the skirting board creates a professional, finished look. Moisture resistance and strength ensure durability under intensive commercial use and daily cleaning.
Professional installation technology
Preparation for installation begins with acclimating the material in the room for at least 24–48 hours at a temperature of +18...+22°C and humidity of 40–60%. Strips are left horizontally in packaging, away from heating appliances and direct sunlight.
The wall surface must be flat with deviations no more than 2–3 mm per meter, clean, dry with humidity not exceeding 10%, and degreased. Protruding irregularities exceeding 2 mm are removed by sanding. Depressions deeper than 3 mm and cracks wider than 2 mm are filled with putty.
To improve adhesion, it is recommended to prime the wall with a deep-penetration acrylic-based primer. The primer is applied with a roller or brush to a height of 10–15 cm from the floor and dries in 2–4 hours.
Marking is performed taking into account the placement of joints in the least noticeable areas — in corners, behind doors, behind furniture. For a thin profile, it is recommended to avoid short cuts less than 20 cm.
For mounting, specializedadhesives for polystyrene skirting boardson water-based: acrylic adhesives of the "liquid nails" type with initial tack time of 2–3 minutes, MS-polymer-based adhesive sealants with elastic joints, and the proprietary HI WOOD HD1000 adhesive.
It is strictly prohibited to use adhesives with organic solvents — liquid nails on synthetic rubber, polychloroprene adhesives, epoxy resins with solvents. Before use, the composition must be studied — the solvent must be water.
Adhesive is applied to the back of the skirting board in a thin dotted line or zigzag pattern with intervals of 12–15 cm. For a thin profile 10.5 mm thick, a 2–3 mm adhesive strip is sufficient. The skirting board is pressed against the wall and firmly pressed along its entire length for 15–20 seconds.
Due to its minimal weight of 105 grams per meter, the adhesive sets instantly and additional fixation is not required. Excess adhesive protruding at the edges is immediately wiped away with a damp sponge before it dries. Full polymerization occurs within 24 hours.
Cutting and corner finishing
Questionhow to cut polystyrene skirting boardhas several options. A miter saw with a fine-toothed disc of at least 200 mm diameter provides an accurate result. The saw should have a laser pointer and precise angle adjustment with an error of less than 0.5 degrees.
For home use, a metal hacksaw with fine teeth (pitch 1-1.5 mm) combined with a miter block is suitable. The miter block must have a wide base to secure a 70 mm high baseboard. Cutting is performed with smooth, steady movements at a speed of 30-40 strokes per minute.
Many askhow to cut polystyrene baseboardwithout tools. For straight cuts, a sharp construction knife with replaceable blades is suitable. Cutting is done in several passes with gradual deepening. After cutting, the end is sanded with fine-grit sandpaper (180-220 grit).
To create angles, the ends are beveled at 45 degrees. Joints are assembled using a dry-fit method without glue. Both boards are installed to check the quality of the joint. If gaps are present, the bevel is adjusted. Only after achieving a perfect fit are the boards glued in place.
Angular joints are filled with white acrylic sealant with minimal shrinkage of no more than 2%. The sealant is applied using a caulking gun with a nozzle cut at a 45-degree angle. Excess is removed with a rubber spatula. The joint is smoothed with a wet finger or cloth to form a seamless transition. After drying for 4-6 hours, the joint is sanded with fine-grit sandpaper and painted.
Straight joints along the length are placed in the least visible areas. Both board ends must be cut strictly perpendicular — even a 1-2 degree deviation will create a visible step. A gap of 0.5-1 mm is left between ends to accommodate thermal expansion. The gap is filled with acrylic sealant.
Painting the baseboard
Questionhow to paint a polystyrene skirting boardhas a clear answer — only water-based paints. The surface has a fine-pored structure, optimized for painting. No preliminary priming is required — simply remove dust with a dry cloth.
For painting, use interior acrylic water-dispersible paints — they are eco-friendly, odorless, dry quickly in 2-4 hours, and form a durable coating. Latex paints create a denser film with increased wear resistance and are easy to clean. Silicone paints provide maximum water resistance and vapor permeability.
It is strictly prohibited to use solvent-based paints — alkyd enamels, oil-based paints, nitrocellulose lacquers, solvent-based polyurethane enamels, automotive paints. Solvents damage polystyrene. When selecting paint, always check the label composition — the solvent must be water.
Application is done with a synthetic-bristle brush or a microfiber roller. A brush allows thorough painting of decorative strips and recesses. A roller speeds up work on flat surfaces. The first layer is applied thinly and evenly, without runs or missed spots. After drying, a second layer is applied for uniform color.
Color Solutions
Classic white painting remains the most popular choice. A white baseboard visually expands the space, creates a sense of cleanliness and freshness, and emphasizes the room’s geometry. For a perfectly white surface, premium-grade paints with whiteness of at least 95% are used.
Painting in wall color creates visual continuity. A baseboard painted in the same color visually blends with walls and makes the room appear taller. A shade 1-2 tones darker or lighter creates a more interesting effect.
Contrasting painting creates striking effects. A dark baseboard on light walls emphasizes the boundary and creates a clear graphic structure. A black, anthracite, or dark gray baseboard on white walls looks especially stylish in modern interiors.
Painting in floor covering color creates a visual extension of the floor. Modern acrylic paints with tinting allow imitation of any wood species, from light beech to dark wenge.
Care and Maintenance
Correctly installedpolystyrene floor baseboardrequires virtually no maintenance. Simply wipe periodically with a damp cloth during general cleaning. Polystyrene is resistant to most water-based household cleaning agents. It is important to avoid abrasive cleaners with abrasive particles.
Durability is determined by material quality and proper installation. When following the technology, the product retains its properties for 15-20 years or more. Polystyrene does not age or fade in sunlight due to stabilizers. A product painted with quality paints is additionally protected.
If needed, the baseboard can be repainted. The surface is cleaned, lightly sanded with fine-grit sandpaper for adhesion, dusted, and painted with new paint. The ability to repaint multiple times allows updating the interior without dismantling.
Advantages of baseboard B70
Height of 70 mm is optimal for standard rooms with ceilings of 2.5-2.7 meters. Minimum thickness of 10.5 mm creates an elegant, refined profile that does not interfere with furniture. The decorative strip adds architectural expressiveness and suits classic interiors.
