5. How to Choose a Kitchen Set?

Choosing a kitchen set is an important decision that affects the comfort and functionality of your home. To make the right choice, you need to consider many factors: budget, room size, functionality, and even your personal preferences. Let's examine each of these aspects in detail so you can approach the purchase with awareness and confidence.

5.1. Set Your Budget: How Much Are You Willing to Spend?

The price of a kitchen set depends on many factors, and it is important to determine in advance how much you are willing to spend. This will help you narrow your search and avoid unnecessary expenses.
Factors Affecting Price
Materials
Natural wood, metal, and glass are more expensive materials that guarantee durability and high quality.
MDF and particleboard are budget-friendly alternatives suitable for those seeking affordable solutions.
Sizes
The larger the set, the higher its cost. For example, a kitchen set with many cabinets and built-in appliances will cost more than a compact version.
Brand
Well-known brands often offer higher quality, but their prices are also higher. If you want to save money, consider lesser-known manufacturers, which also offer quality products.
Additional Features
Modern sets often come with additional features: built-in appliances, hidden storage systems, transformation mechanisms. All of this increases the cost, but makes the furniture more convenient to use.
Savings Tips
Don't skimp on quality: Cheap furniture may quickly become unusable, leading to additional expenses for repairs or replacement. It's better to buy a quality set once, which will last for many years.

Look for sales and discounts: Many stores offer seasonal sales, special promotions, or bonuses for purchasing a set. For example,a classic kitchen cabinet may be available at a favorable price during holiday promotions.

Consider custom-made options: Sometimes, custom-made furniture is cheaper than buying a ready-made set, especially if you choose an individual configuration.

5.2. Measure the Space: Ensure the Furniture Fits

Before purchasing a kitchen set, be sure to measure the room's dimensions to ensure it fits perfectly. This is especially important for small spaces, where every centimeter counts.
What to Consider When Measuring
Room Area
Record the length, width, and height of the room. This will help you determine what size set will fit.
Ceiling Height
If you have low ceilings, choose furniture with low fronts to avoid overcrowding the space. For high ceilings, wall-to-ceiling cabinets are suitable, adding verticality to the interior.
Window and Door Placement
Ensure the furniture does not block windows, doors, or walkways. For example, in the living room, a sofa should not obstruct free movement between rooms.
Clear Space
Leave enough space for free movement. The minimum distance between furniture items should be 60–80 cm.
Layout Tips
Use online layout tools: Many stores offer online services to create 3D projects of your room. This will help you visualize how the set will look in your interior.
Consider the room's shape: For narrow rooms, choose furniture that visually expands the space (e.g., light tones and mirrored surfaces). For square rooms, opt for more substantial sets.

5.3. Consider Functionality: Furniture Should Work for You

Functionality is one of the key factors when choosing a kitchen set. Think about what tasks your furniture should perform, and select a set that matches your needs.
Examples of Functional Solutions
For a small apartment
Multi-functional furniture: For example, a bed with storage drawers or a convertible sofa that becomes a sleeping area.
Compact solutions: Corner sofas, extendable tables, and sliding wardrobe cabinets will help save space.
For a large family
Spacious cabinets: Choose sets with many shelves, drawers, and hanging rods for clothes.
Comfortable sofas: Large corner sofas or modular sets will allow you to seat the entire family.
For the kitchen
Built-in appliances: Refrigerators, stoves, ovens, and microwaves integrated into the set will free up working space.
Storage systems: Pull-out drawers, shelves, and organizers will help organize everything you need.
For a child's room
Safety: Choose furniture with rounded corners and sturdy construction.
Functionality: For example, a bunk bed with storage space or a desk with shelves for textbooks.
Selection Tips
Assess your needs: Before purchasing, make a list of exactly what you want from your furniture. For example, if you often work from home, choose a set with a comfortable workspace.
Pay attention to ergonomics: Furniture should be comfortable and match your height. For example, the table height should be such that it is comfortable to work at it.
Think about the future: If you have plans to move or expand your family, choose universal solutions that can be adapted to new conditions.

5.4. Choose a Style: Harmony in the Interior

A kitchen set should not only be functional but also harmoniously fit into the interior. Therefore, it is important to consider the style and color scheme of your room.
Style Selection Tips
Classic: Perfect for spacious rooms with high ceilings. Choose a classic kitchen set made of natural wood with carved details.
Modern style: Suitable for small spaces. Prefer clean lines, light tones, and multifunctional solutions.
Loft: Ideal for studio apartments and offices. Choose sets with metallic elements and rough textures.

6. Care Tips for Kitchen Sets

A kitchen set is not only an important interior element, but also an investment in the comfort of your home. To ensure the furniture lasts long and continues to delight with its appearance, proper care is essential. In this section, we will thoroughly explain how to care for different types of furniture so it retains its attractiveness for many years.

6.1. General Recommendations: Basic Care Rules

Proper care of furniture begins with simple but important rules. These tips are universal and suitable for any type of furniture, whether wood, metal, glass, or plastic.
Regular Cleaning
Wipe surfaces with a soft cloth slightly dampened with water. Avoid using abrasive materials such as stiff brushes, which may damage the finish.
Use microfiber or anti-static cloths to remove dust. This is especially important for glass and metal surfaces.
Avoid Direct Sunlight Exposure
Direct sunlight can cause fading of color and deformation of materials. Place furniture away from windows or use curtains for protection.
Do Not Use Aggressive Chemicals
Abrasive cleaning agents such as powders or solvents may damage furniture surfaces. Instead, choose specialized products designed for specific materials.
Protection from Mechanical Damage
Use trivets under hot items (e.g., mugs or pots) and avoid sharp impacts on furniture surfaces.
Humidity and Temperature Control
Maintain optimal humidity levels in the room (40–60%). Excessively dry or humid air can negatively affect furniture condition.

6.2. Care for Wooden Furniture: Protecting Natural Beauty

Wooden furniture requires special attention, as it is sensitive to moisture, temperature fluctuations, and mechanical damage. Here are several recommendations to help preserve its beauty:
Use Special Oils and Wax
Wood needs regular nourishment. Apply special oils or wax every 3–6 months to protect the surface from drying out and cracking.
After applying oil or wax, gently polish the surface with a soft cloth to achieve a shine.
Protect Furniture from Moisture
Do not allow water to reach wooden surfaces, as this may cause deformation or stains. If the furniture gets wet, immediately dry it thoroughly.
Avoid Temperature Fluctuations
Wood is sensitive to temperature changes, which may cause material expansion or contraction. Place furniture away from radiators, air conditioners, and other heat sources.
Scratch Removal
Small scratches can be masked using special pencils or wax fillers that match the furniture color.

6.3. Care for Metal Furniture: Fighting Corrosion

Metal furniture is known for its strength and durability, but requires protection against corrosion and mechanical damage. Here are some tips to help keep it in perfect condition:
Wipe metal surfaces with a dry cloth
After each use, wipe metal parts with a dry cloth to remove dust and prevent stains.
Use anti-corrosion agents
To protect against rust, use special sprays or oils that create a protective layer on the metal surface.
Avoid contact with water
Moisture is the main enemy of metal furniture. If the furniture is installed in the kitchen or bathroom, regularly check to ensure no water droplets remain on it.
Polishing for shine
To maintain an attractive appearance, periodically polish metal surfaces with special agents. This will give them a mirror shine and protect against damage.

6.4. Care for Glass Furniture: Cleanliness and Transparency

Glass furniture looks modern and stylish, but requires regular cleaning to maintain its transparency and shine.
Use special glass cleaning agents
For cleaning glass surfaces, use agents specifically designed for glass. They effectively remove dirt without leaving streaks.
Avoid abrasive materials
Do not use abrasive sponges or powders, as they may scratch the glass surface.
Regular cleaning
Glass quickly gets smudged with fingerprints and dust. Wipe it at least once a week to maintain an attractive appearance.
Protection from impacts
Be careful with heavy objects that may crack or break the glass.

6.5. Care for MDF and Particle Board Furniture: How to Protect from Moisture

MDF and particle board furniture is a stylish and functional solution, but it requires special care, especially in rooms with high humidity. Proper handling will help preserve the furniture's attractiveness and longevity.

How to protect furniture from moisture?

✔ Avoid contact with water
Moisture is the main enemy of MDF and particle board furniture. When water gets on it, the material may swell, deform, and lose strength. This is especially true for kitchens and bathrooms. Use protective coatings, special sealants, or laminate to extend the furniture's lifespan.
✔ Proper cleaning is key to long-term durability
For furniture care, use a soft cloth or microfiber slightly dampened with water. Avoid excessive moisture — excess liquid can penetrate the material's structure and cause damage.
✔ Caution during use
MDF and particle board are less resistant to mechanical damage than solid wood. Be careful with sharp objects, and do not place hot items directly on the surface without protective pads.
