More than 20 years on the market

The company's success began in 2002, when two artists — Andrey Ragozin and Evgeny Tsapko — created a small creative workshop for producing wooden carved items. The masters' work was quickly noticed, and within a year they were invited to participate in the reconstruction of the Konstantinovskiy Palace in Strelna.

After the success of this project, the company focused on recreating palace interiors, furniture, church furnishings, and carved decorations in various artistic styles. They worked with cultural heritage sites: The Hermitage, the Alexandrovsky Palace, the Troitsko-Izmaylovsky Cathedral, the Sheremetyevsky Mansion, and many others.

The masters' task — and still is — to create wooden items with the highest level of detail and understanding of every element, based on impeccable knowledge of artistic laws and interior styles.

MLDPU-003 STAVROS Polyurethane Molding — a wide architectural profile for creating expressive classical decor

MLDPU-003 molding is a full-format architectural profile made of two-component polyurethane, with a width of 35 mm, a projection height of 12 mm, and a strip length of 2600 mm. This is where truly serious interior decor begins: a width of 35 mm is no longer a delicate line on the wall but a confident architectural accent that organizes space, sets the scale, and creates a sense of monumentality, familiar to us from palace interiors and European mansions of historical construction. The complex composite profile section with multiple tiers, rolls, and horizontals forms a rich play of shadows that changes depending on the angle and intensity of lighting — thus, the wall begins to live, breathe, and create a mood.

Section profile: architectural logic in every line

The cross-section of the MLDPU-003 molding is a multi-tiered profile with several sequential levels of relief — a central roll, stepped horizontals, and side bevels. This geometry dates back to the classical architectural order system, where profiles of cornices, plinths, and pilasters were built on the principle of alternating protruding and recessed planes to create depth and visual weight of the element.

With a width of 35 mm, the profile is wide enough to become an independent statement — it does not get lost on the surface like a thin bead but confidently holds the composition. A projection height of 12 mm creates a well-readable shadow even in diffused lighting, and with side lighting or directed sconce light, the molding acquires a sculptural expressiveness unattainable for flat decorative solutions. A strip length of 2600 mm allows covering standard room heights with a margin and forming frames for walls of standard residential apartments without transverse joints on straight sections.

STAVROS Two-Component Polyurethane: quality that is seen and felt

MLDPU-003 molding is made from the same two-component polyurethane that STAVROS uses throughout its line of interior and furniture decor. This is a reaction injection molding material — unlike extruded or foamed analogues, it is formed in a precise mold during a chemical reaction of two components, resulting in a monolithic, homogeneous structure without internal voids or layers.

Geometry accuracy. The STAVROS mold is manufactured with tolerances characteristic of precision engineering. A width of 35 mm is exactly 35 mm along the entire length of the strip, without accumulated errors. This is fundamentally important when working with frame structures: all four sides of the frame must have an identical profile, otherwise the joint will look rough and unprofessional.

Elasticity and impact resistance. STAVROS polyurethane combines the rigidity necessary to maintain shape with sufficient elasticity to avoid cracking during transportation and installation. A 2600 mm long strip withstands normal handling without risk of breakage — this is important when working with long horizontal sections.

Moisture resistance. The closed-cell structure of polyurethane prevents moisture penetration into the material body. MLDPU-003 molding is absolutely safe for use in wet areas: bathrooms with constant steam, kitchens with intensive cooking, rooms with wall condensation in winter — all these are operating conditions in which STAVROS polyurethane molding behaves as stably as in an ordinary living room.

Smooth surface for painting. One of the key characteristics appreciated by professional painters — the surface of STAVROS molding does not require puttying or sanding before painting. Acrylic paint is applied directly to the polyurethane and provides an even, uniform coating without absorption or sagging. The first coat of paint already creates a professional look — without dark spots, streaks, or 'sagging' color in the profile recesses.

Temperature stability. Two-component polyurethane does not change geometry during seasonal temperature fluctuations in heated rooms. This is especially important for wide profiles — any deformation at a width of 35 mm would be noticeable, whereas STAVROS molding maintains flatness and straightness throughout its entire service life.

Where and how MLDPU-003 molding is used

A width of 35 mm opens up a wide range of applications for MLDPU-003 molding — from private residential projects to large commercial facilities.

Wall frame panels of a representative level. MLDPU-003 molding is a tool for creating wall frame decor that is perceived as high-class architectural finishing. With a width of 35 mm, a frame made from this profile has noticeable visual weight — it does not get lost on large wall planes and looks convincing in spacious living rooms, grand hallways, and bedrooms with ceiling heights from 2.7 meters. It is precisely such frames that are seen in photographs of expensive residences and designer hotels, where the wall behind a sofa or behind a bed headboard is structured with several large rectangular panels.

Bathrooms and toilets in classic style. One of the most impressive modern trends in interior design is classic decor in the bathroom. Moldings on bathroom walls, painted to match the wall or in a restrained contrast, transform a utilitarian space into one with character. Moisture-resistant STAVROS polyurethane is the only material from the entire line of decorative moldings that can be recommended without reservation for bathrooms with regular steam and water splashes.

Furniture facades with a pronounced architectural profile. In furniture manufacturing, MLDPU-003 molding is used to create facades with a wide framing profile — one that imitates massive wooden molding on classic furniture. Cabinets, kitchen sets, chests of drawers, wardrobe systems — wide molding gives the facade solidity and completeness unattainable with narrow profiles. In furniture of the 'neoclassical' and 'modern classic' categories, 35 mm molding is an industry standard.

Decoration of door architraves and portals. MLDPU-003 molding is used to decorate door openings — as an overlay architrave mounted on top of existing jamb finishing. The wide profile creates a pronounced door portal in classic style, giving the interior doorway architectural significance. This technique is widely used in interiors in the Empire, Classicism, Neoclassical, and Provencal styles.

Cornice belts and horizontal wall dividers. A single horizontal line of MLDPU-003 molding on the wall is a full-fledged decorative cornice belt, historically called a 'dado rail' or 'stiffening belt'. At a height of 85–100 cm from the floor, such a belt divides the wall into lower and upper zones with different finishes. With a width of 35 mm, this division looks convincing and decoratively weighty.

Framing of mirrors and art objects. MLDPU-003 molding is used to create monumental wall frames around mirrors, paintings, and decorative panels. A frame made from a wide profile directly on the wall looks like a built-in architectural element — significantly more organic than a separately hanging frame. For mirrors in hallways, bathrooms, and dressing rooms, this technique is one of the most popular designer solutions in recent years.

Pilasters and vertical architectural divisions. Several vertical strips of MLDPU-003 molding, mounted at equal intervals along the wall, create the effect of flat pilasters—vertical decorative elements that visually raise the ceiling and give the wall a rhythmic architectural structure. This technique is particularly effective in corridors and hallways, where a long wall requires additional rhythmic organization.

Interior styles: where MLDPU-003 fully shines

Classic and Baroque. The wide, multi-tiered profile is an inherently classic format. In interiors with high ceilings, stucco cornices, and rich decor, the MLDPU-003 molding is a logical and organic element of the system. It scales to the space: in a large living room with a 3.2 m ceiling, it is the wide molding that maintains proportion and does not get lost in the volume of the room.

Neoclassical and modern classic. In contemporary interiors where classical details are combined with clean surfaces and minimalist furniture, the MLDPU-003 molding works as an accent architectural element. Monochrome painting—when the molding, frame, and wall are painted in a single color—creates a sculptural effect without visual overload.

Art Deco. The strict geometry of wide frames, clear shadows from the deep profile, contrasting or monochrome painting—all these characteristics perfectly match the aesthetics of Art Deco. The MLDPU-003 molding in such interiors creates that special balance between luxury and geometric rigor that distinguishes true Art Deco from its simplified imitations.

Provence and French country. In romantic French-style interiors, wide wall molding is a must-have attribute. Frames made of MLDPU-003, painted to match a pastel wall or in a barely noticeable contrast, create that very atmosphere of an old French house with a long history of finishes.

English classic style. In the British interior tradition, the dado rail—a wall panel—is an integral part of any worthy finish. The MLDPU-003 molding with a width of 35 mm precisely corresponds to the historical proportions of the English chair rail and fits organically into interiors inspired by traditional British decor.

Installation of MLDPU-003 molding: from marking to final painting

Wide molding requires more thorough marking preparation and slightly more attention at corner joints—precisely because with a width of 35 mm, any inaccuracy in the angle or misalignment of the marking will be noticeable. This is compensated by the fact that the wide profile is easier to level during installation—it is simply physically more convenient to hold and press.

Preparation. The surface must be level, clean, and degreased. On glossy surfaces, light sanding with P180–220 sandpaper is recommended. New, freshly painted walls with acrylic paint do not require any additional preparation.

Marking. Use a long spirit level or laser level—for frame lengths of a meter or more, a laser significantly speeds up work and eliminates accumulated error. Outline the frames with a soft pencil—it does not leave marks through the paint.

Cutting for corners. The miter box for 35 mm wide molding must be deep enough for the strip to fit snugly into the guides. Use a fine-toothed saw—20 teeth per inch or more—for a clean cut without burrs. After cutting, light sanding of the cut with fine P220 sandpaper gives a perfectly smooth joint surface.

Adhesive and fixation. Apply mounting adhesive to the back surface of the molding in a zigzag pattern with a pitch of 10–15 cm. For a 2600 mm long strip, do not apply adhesive too close to the ends—when joining with corner pieces, excess adhesive will squeeze into the joint. Press the strip against the marking and hold for 40–60 seconds. For horizontal strips, secure with painter's tape every 30–40 cm during the full adhesive curing time.

Sealing joints. White acrylic sealant fills corner joints and surface abutments. Professional technique: apply sealant, smooth with a finger moistened with water, let dry for 1 hour, then carefully sand with fine sandpaper. Joints will become invisible even under oblique lighting.

Painting. The MLDPU-003 molding is painted together with the wall or separately. For separate painting, protect the adjacent surface with painter's tape—the wide profile requires special care in transition areas. For a rich color, two coats of acrylic enamel with an intermediate drying time of 2 hours are sufficient.

Combining with other elements of the STAVROS assortment

The MLDPU-003 molding is the basis for creating complex multi-level decorative systems from the STAVROS assortment.

In double and triple frame systems, MLDPU-003 serves as the outer, widest contour. Inside it, at a distance of 15–25 mm, the MLDPU-002 molding (22 mm) is placed, and even closer to the center—the thin bead MLDPU-001 (10 mm). Such a three-level frame system is an exact copy of classical palace finishing, implemented with accessible modern materials.

STAVROS corner decorative blocks—inserts with classical ornamentation for frame corners—are installed in the corners of the structure instead of miter cuts. This simultaneously simplifies installation and enriches the decor: an exquisite ornamental accent appears in each corner.

STAVROS applied ornamental elements—scrolls, garlands, cartouches, mascaron—are placed in the center of the top side of the frame, creating a complete classical architectural group. The MLDPU-003 molding serves as a reliable structural base and large-scale framing for them.

Material calculation and ordering recommendations

For an accurate calculation of molding requirements, measure the total perimeter of all planned frames and add a 20% reserve for miter cuts and possible errors. One strip 2600 mm long and 35 mm wide is approximately 5.2 linear meters of frame contour when used directly without miter cutting.

For large projects, it is recommended to place the entire order at once to guarantee batch uniformity—identical white color and geometry throughout the volume.

For storage, lay the strips horizontally on a flat surface. Avoid storing strips vertically on their ends—under their own weight, long strips may develop a slight bend.
