More than 20 years on the market

The company's success began in 2002, when two artists — Andrey Ragozin and Evgeny Tsapko — created a small creative workshop for producing wooden carved items. The masters' work was quickly noticed, and within a year they were invited to participate in the reconstruction of the Konstantinovskiy Palace in Strelna.

After the success of this project, the company focused on recreating palace interiors, furniture, church furnishings, and carved decorations in various artistic styles. They worked with cultural heritage sites: The Hermitage, the Alexandrovsky Palace, the Troitsko-Izmaylovsky Cathedral, the Sheremetyevsky Mansion, and many others.

The masters' task — and still is — to create wooden items with the highest level of detail and understanding of every element, based on impeccable knowledge of artistic laws and interior styles.

Molding from MDF primed MLD-002-MG — expressive profile for classic interiors

When the architecture of a room requires a more noticeable decorative accent, professionals turn to solutions with increased proportions.Molding from MDF primedModels MLD-002-MG with dimensions 22 × 11 × 2600 mm represent an element of the Prestige premium series, designed for interiors where expressive detailing is important. The increased profile height makes it a noticeable architectural element capable of structuring space and creating convincing visual accents.

Thisprimed moldingIt occupies a special place in the lineup of decorative elements. The 22 mm height ensures sufficient massiveness for creating classic interior compositions, without overloading the space with excessive decoration. The 11 mm width guarantees a secure mounting surface and strong adhesion to the surface. Factory primed coating turns the molding into a ready base for finishing paint, saving time and ensuring a professional result.

The profile MLD-002-MG is extremely versatile. It is chosen for decorating living rooms in a classic style, where it is necessary to emphasize ceiling height and create framed compositions on walls.Molding 22×11It works excellently in libraries, offices, and reception areas, where solidity and respectable finishing are important. It is used for decorating premium-grade furniture facades, fireplace surrounds, and creating multi-level ceiling compositions.

MDF as a quality base

The material used to manufacture the MLD-002-MG molding is medium-density fiberboard of the highest quality category. The production process begins with careful preparation of the wood raw material: grinding to a fine dispersion fraction, drying to optimal humidity, and mixing with binding components. Hot pressing at 180-220°C and 30-40 MPa pressure transforms this mixture into a homogeneous dense material with unique performance characteristics.

The structure of MDF differs fundamentally from natural wood. If solid wood has an anisotropic structure with clearly defined fibers determining different strength in different directions, then MDF demonstrates isotropy — identical properties in all directions. This means the molding will not split along fibers during installation, will not deform due to humidity changes, and will retain its profile geometry for decades. The material density of 750-770 kg/m³ ensures an optimal combination of strength and workability.

Surface characteristics of MDF exceed even those of sanded natural wood. The material has a perfectly smooth surface at the micro level, without pores, cracks, or irregularities. This creates an excellent base for primer coatings, ensuring even application, excellent adhesion, and minimal material consumption. When milling the profile on high-precision equipment, MDF provides a clean cut without chips or scratches, guaranteeing clear relief and geometric accuracy of the product.

The ecological parameters of modern MDF correspond to emission class E1 or E0 according to European standards. This means the formaldehyde emission level is at the level of natural wood or lower. The material has passed toxicological tests and has hygiene certificates permitting its use in residential spaces of all categories.MDF moldingIt has no odor, does not emit volatile organic compounds at normal temperatures, and is absolutely safe for human health and pets.

Factory-grade primer layer

The professional primer coating applied in factory conditions represents a key competitive advantage of the MLD-002-MG molding. Priming is performed on automated lines using spray or roll application, ensuring uniform layer thickness across the entire profile surface. The primer composition is specially developed for MDF, taking into account the material's porosity and requirements for adhesion of various types of finish paints.

The functional purpose of the primer layer is multifaceted. The primary task is sealing the pores of MDF to reduce the material's absorbency. Unprimed MDF actively absorbs paint, leading to uneven coating, stain formation, and multiple increases in the consumption of expensive finish materials. The primer creates a barrier layer that regulates absorption and ensures even paint distribution across the surface. This is especially important formolding for paintingwhere the quality of the finish coating determines the overall appearance of the interior.

The second most important function of the primer is ensuring adhesion between MDF and the finish coating. The primer composition contains components that, on one hand, penetrate the MDF structure and mechanically bond with the material, and on the other hand, create a chemically active surface ensuring strong adhesion to paint. This prevents the finish coating from peeling off during use, even under temperature fluctuations and humidity changes in the room.

The color characteristics of the primer are optimized for finish painting. The light gray or milk-white shade does not affect the final color of the coating, but allows the craftsman to visually control the evenness of paint application. When using light tones, the primer does not show through, and when dark painting, it is easily covered by a single layer of quality paint. The universal compatibility of the primer allows using any type of interior paint: acrylic water-dispersed, alkyd, polyurethane, oil-based, and hybrid compositions of the latest generation.

Architectural geometry of the profile

The dimensional parameters 22 × 11 mm represent the result of careful architectural calculations and design developments. The 22 mm height creates an expressive relief that is clearly visible in space even from several meters away. This makesdecorative moldingMLD-002-MG an ideal choice for rooms with high ceilings of 3-4 meters, where smaller profiles disappear and do not create sufficient visual impact. At the same time, the profile does not look bulky and retains the elegance of classic forms.

The 11 mm width provides sufficient mounting surface for secure attachment to the wall or ceiling. The increased width compared to more compact profiles allows compensating for minor base irregularities and ensures the molding's stable position after installation. The larger contact area with the surface improves load distribution and prevents peeling or deformation of the profile over time. For adhesive mounting, this width is optimal — it allows applying sufficient adhesive without excess material.

The profile cross-section of the MLD-002-MG molding is shaped like a classic quarter circle — one of the basic architectural forms used in decorative finishing for centuries. The smooth radial transition from the flat mounting surface to the convex front part creates a soft play of light and shadow, which brings life to the wall plane and adds depth to the interior. The quarter-circle shape is universal and naturally integrates into any stylistic solution — from strict classicism to modern eclecticism.

The standard plank length of 2600 mm was chosen taking into account construction modules and transportation logistics. This length allows transporting the molding in a standard passenger car with rear seats folded down, which is important for private customers. At the same time, 2600 mm is sufficient to minimize joints in standard rooms — two planks with one joint cover a wall up to 5 meters long. When necessaryMDF molding primedit can be easily cut to any size using standard carpentry tools.

Professional installation and installation tips

The quality installation of molding begins long before direct mounting. Surface preparation is critically important for the final result. The wall must be leveled with precision to 2-3 mm per linear meter — any irregularities will be noticeable after installing the molding. All cracks, dents, and unevenness are filled with putty, the surface is carefully sanded with 120-150 grit abrasive. Dust after sanding is removed with an industrial vacuum cleaner, the surface is degreased and primed with a deep-penetration primer.

Molding position marking is performed using professional measuring tools. A laser level ensures perfectly horizontal or vertical lines at any distance. For creating framed compositions, a marking string and a square are used to guarantee right angles. All dimensions are repeatedly checked before starting installation — an error in marking may require redoing the entire work. Special attention is paid to the symmetry of compositions relative to the room’s central axes.

The choice of adhesive is determined by the type of substrate and operating conditions. For standard plastered or gypsum board walls, optimal are polymer construction adhesives of the "liquid nails" type based on MS-polymers. They have high initial tack, elasticity after polymerization, and compatibility with most materials. For heavy moldings on ceilings, two-component polyurethane adhesives with very high adhesion strength are recommended. The adhesive is applied to the back sidethe molding to the wallin a zigzag or dotted pattern with an interval of 8-12 cm.

The mounting technique requires precision and care. After applying adhesive, the molding is placed against the surface according to the marking and pressed firmly along its entire length. Some masters recommend the "peeling" technique — the molding is pressed, then lifted for 1-2 seconds to allow the adhesive to ventilate, after which it is installed permanently. This improves adhesion for some types of adhesives. The molding is held in a pressed state for 3-5 minutes for initial setting. For long sections, temporary supports made of battens or telescopic stands are used.

Additional mechanical fastening is applied for heavy moldings or when installing on less reliable substrates. Finishing nails 25-35 mm or self-tapping screws 3×30 mm are installed with a spacing of 30-40 cm. It is important to pre-drill holes slightly smaller in diameter than the fastener to avoid splitting MDF. The heads of fasteners are countersunk 1.5-2 mm below the molding surface. The recesses are filled with acrylic wood putty, which after drying is sanded with fine-grit sandpaper to achieve perfect smoothness.

Corner joints and element joints

The quality of corner joints determines the professionalism of installation. To create internal and external corners, the ends of moldings are cut at a 45-degree angle. The most accurate result is achieved with a miter saw equipped with a laser guide and precise angle adjustment capability. An alternative is a professional miter box with a metal base and precision guides. Before cutting working strips, it is recommended to make a test cut on offcuts and check the joint quality — this will prevent material waste.

The technique of cutting corners has nuances. The saw blade must be sharp — a dull blade produces a ragged edge with fiber tearing. The speed of feeding the molding into the saw must be moderate — rushing leads to uneven cuts. After cutting, the end can be lightly sanded with fine-grit sandpaper to remove microscopic burrs. When joining two strips at a corner, it is important to ensure tight contact along the entire cut length without gaps or voids.

Corner joints are filled with acrylic sealant or flexible putty. The material is applied with a narrow putty knife or directly from a tube with a cut tip at an angle. Excess sealant is wiped away with a damp sponge before it dries. It is important to run a finger or special tool along the joint to form a smooth transition and press the sealant into the gap. After complete drying, the joint may be sanded with fine sandpaper. A properly executed corner joint, after painting, should appear as a single, seamless unit.

Straight joints along the length of the molding also require attention to detail. The ends of both strips must be cut strictly perpendicular to the longitudinal axis — even a small angle will create a visible step. The joint is placed in the least noticeable location — in room corners, behind furniture or decorative elements. A minimal gap of 0.5-1 mm is left between ends to compensate for thermal expansion. The gap is filled with elastic acrylic sealant in the finish color. After drying, the sealant is sanded to achieve an invisible joint.

Finishing painting options

White painting remains the most popular solution fordecorative moldingsWhite paint is universal and suitable for any interior, visually expanding space and creating a sense of cleanliness and freshness. To achieve a perfectly white surface, high-coverage acrylic paints are used. The first layer is applied with a microfiber roller or spray gun, and after drying, the surface is lightly sanded with 220-240 grit sandpaper to remove micro-irregularities. The second and, if necessary, third layer create a flawless finish.

Contrasting painting allows creating dramatic interior effects. A dark molding on light walls — a classic technique — emphasizes architectural lines and creates a clear graphic structure in space. Especially striking is black or dark grayMDF moldingon white or light beige walls in minimalist or modern classic interiors. The reverse solution — white molding on dark walls — creates a sense of lightness and visually lightens massive dark surfaces.

Color painting opens up unlimited creative possibilities. Molding can be painted in any color from the RAL or NCS palette, selecting the ideal combination with furniture, textiles, and decorative accessories. Deep saturated tones — emerald, sapphire, burgundy, chocolate — give interiors a sense of elegance and luxury. Pastel shades — mint, peach, lavender, powder — create a romantic atmosphere and are especially popular in bedrooms and children’s rooms. Bright accent colors — coral, turquoise, mustard — make molding a standalone decorative element.

Decorative painting techniques allow creating exclusive effects. Patination involves applying a base layer of light-colored paint followed by treating the profile’s recesses with dark patina. This is done using a special patina compound or diluted dark paint, applied with a brush and partially wiped off with a cloth from raised areas. The effect of noble antiquity is ideal for classic and vintage interiors. Gilding is performed with metallic pigment paints or using gold leaf — an imitation of gold leaf. SuchPaintable Moldingbecomes a compositional center and adds the luxury of palace halls to the interior.

Application in interior compositions

Wall panels made of molding — a hallmark of classic interior design.primed moldingMLD-002-MG is ideally suited for creating boiserie — traditional French wall finishing using frames and panels. The classic scheme involves dividing the wall into three horizontal zones: a baseboard section 70-90 cm high, a central main section, and a frieze section under the ceiling. Each zone is framed with molding and divided into rectangular sections, creating a rhythmic structure.

Modern interpretations of molding compositions differ in greater freedom and creativity. Asymmetric compositions with frames of different sizes arranged freely are popular. Trendy vertical panels covering the entire wall height visually increase ceiling height. Horizontal compositions made of narrow rectangles create dynamism and expand space. The interior of frames is painted in contrasting colors, covered with decorative wallpaper, or filled with textured plaster, creating multi-layered depth in finishing.

Molding around doorways solves both utilitarian and aesthetic tasks. Molding conceals technological gaps between the door frame and wall, hides irregularities of junctions, and creates a finished look for the doorway. A wide molding MLD-002-MG allows creating expressive portals around doors, visually enhancing their significance in the interior. Especially striking is framing arched doorways, where molding emphasizes the smoothness of the curve and creates architectural expressiveness. A molding painted in a contrasting color makes the doorway an accent element in the composition.

Molding decor transforms ordinary items into designer objects. Cabinet facades adorned with framed compositions fromMDF moldingappear as custom-made classic furniture. Kitchen facades with molding decor look significantly more expensive than their actual cost. Headboards decorated with molding frames become central elements in bedrooms. Built-in cabinets and wardrobes, finished with molding in wall color, visually integrate into the room’s architecture and cease to be perceived as standalone furniture.

Ceiling compositions with molding create architectural expressiveness in the upper zone of the room. Molding installed along the perimeter at the wall-ceiling junction forms a cornice band, visually lifting the ceiling. In rooms with high ceilings, multi-level compositions with several parallel moldings are relevant, creating a stepped transition. Behind wide moldings, LED RGB lighting can be hidden, creating a floating ceiling effect and allowing to change the room’s color atmosphere with one button press.

Combination with other decorative elements

Combining profiles of different widths from the collectionmolding and cornicesallows creating complex multi-level compositions. Molding MLD-002-MG can be used as a main profile for frames, supplemented with narrower moldings to create inner frames. Combined with wide cornices, it forms classic multi-tiered ceiling compositions with rich molding. Parallel moldings of different widths, installed with a specific rhythm, create a dynamic structure and add volume to walls.

Decorative rosettes, corner elements, and other relief decorations transform molding compositions into true works of art. Rosettes are installed at the center of symmetrical frames, becoming focal points of the composition. Corner decorative elements are placed at the intersections of moldings, creating smooth transitions and adding ornamentation. Consoles and brackets installed beneath moldings imitate supporting structures and give the interior architectural authenticity.

Combining moldings with decorative wallpapers creates striking wall panels. Moldings form frames within which wallpapers with contrasting patterns are applied. Classic ornamental wallpapers — damask, scrolls, floral motifs — are especially popular inside white or gold molding frames. Wallpapers mimicking fabric, leather, or Venetian plaster create a textural contrast with the smooth surface of the molding. Photo wallpapers with landscapes or architectural views, framed by moldings, become full-fledged wall paintings.

Integration with lighting systems expands the functionality of moldings. Behind ceiling moldings, LED strips are hidden, creating contour lighting and a floating ceiling effect. Recessed spotlights embedded in moldings above framed compositions create accent lighting for decorative panels. Wall sconces installed against molding frames integrate into the overall architectural concept. Molding lighting in different colors allows changing the interior’s mood depending on the time of day and room function.

Durability and Longevity

Correctly installed and paintedMolding from MDF primedServes for decades without losing decorative qualities. Regular maintenance consists of removing dust with a dry soft cloth or vacuum cleaner with a soft attachment. Cleaning frequency depends on usage conditions — on average, moldings need wiping once every 1-2 weeks. For more thorough cleaning, slightly damp cloth with neutral cleaning agent is used, followed by drying the surface thoroughly.

Abrasive cleaning agents, stiff brushes, metal sponges, and aggressive chemical solvents are absolutely not recommended. Abrasives scratch the paint finish, creating micro-damage where dirt accumulates. Solvents based on acetone, white spirit, or other organic compounds may destroy paint structure and cause peeling. For removing stubborn stains, it is better to use specialized water-based cleaners for painted surfaces.

The longevity of molding depends on installation quality and usage conditions. When installation technology is followed and proper care is maintained, the product retains its properties for 20-30 years or more. Quality paint finish protects MDF from UV exposure, preventing fading and color changes. However, avoid installing moldings in areas with direct water exposure — above sinks, bathtubs, or shower stalls. For humid rooms, additional hydrophobic treatment of molding ends is recommended before installation.

The ability to repaint is a key advantage of primed moldings. When changing the interior’s style or room color scheme, moldings can be repainted to a new color without removal. To do this, the surface is cleaned of dirt, lightly sanded with fine-grit sandpaper to create texture, dusted, and covered with a new layer of paint. This operation can be repeated multiple times, making moldings a long-term investment in interior quality.
