More than 20 years on the market
The company's success began in 2002, when two artists — Andrey Ragozin and Evgeny Tsapko — created a small creative workshop for producing wooden carved items. The masters' work was quickly noticed, and within a year they were invited to participate in the reconstruction of the Konstantinovskiy Palace in Strelna.
After the success of this project, the company focused on recreating palace interiors, furniture, church furnishings, and carved decorations in various artistic styles. They worked with cultural heritage sites: The Hermitage, the Alexandrovsky Palace, the Troitsko-Izmaylovsky Cathedral, the Sheremetyevsky Mansion, and many others.
The masters' task — and still is — to create wooden items with the highest level of detail and understanding of every element, based on impeccable knowledge of artistic laws and interior styles.

Modern decorative materials market offers numerous solutions for interior finishing, but high-density polystyrene products occupy a special place.
Models D22 from the South Korean manufacturer HI WOOD with dimensions 22 × 10 × 2000 mm represent a high-tech decorative element combining lightness, strength, and flawless finish quality. This profile is designed for those who value the balance between affordable cost and premium appearance.Polystyrene moldingCompact profile dimensions make
molding HI WOODAvoid using aggressive chemical solvents containing acetone, white spirit, or other organic compounds. They may damage the polystyrene structure and cause deformation or dissolution of the material. Also, abrasive cleaning agents and stiff brushes are not recommended, as they may scratch the painted surface. For removing stubborn stains, it is better to use specialized plastic cleaners.a universal tool for decorating various interior zones. The 22 mm height provides sufficient visual expressiveness, allowing the molding to be a noticeable element without excessive bulk. The 10 mm thickness ensures secure adhesion to the surface and creates a strong mounting base. The standard 2000 mm length is optimal for most rooms and convenient for transportation.
White surface for painting opens up endless possibilities for color decoration. Unlike pre-painted items, decorative molding for paintingallows selecting the ideal shade that harmoniously fits the existing color scheme of the room. You can maintain the classic white color, choose pastel tones, or paint in vibrant hues — all depends on the design concept.
High-density polystyrene as a modern material
The base of molding D22 is high-density polystyrene, also known as duro-polymer or fitopolymer — a modern composite material of the latest generation. This material is produced by extrusion at high temperatures followed by pressure treatment, creating a dense, homogeneous structure with unique performance characteristics. The material density significantly exceeds that of ordinary expanded polystyrene, ensuring high mechanical strength and product longevity.
High-density polystyrene has several advantages over traditional materials. It is completely moisture-resistant, makingpolystyrene moldingan ideal choice for rooms with high humidity — kitchens, bathrooms, and toilets. The material does not rot, is not a nutrient medium for mold and fungi, and is not attacked by insects. This guarantees the preservation of the product's original appearance for decades of use.
The temperature stability of polystyrene ensures the preservation of the profile's geometry within temperature fluctuations ranging from -40 to +70°C. The material does not deform when heated by radiators or cooled in unheated rooms. The coefficient of thermal expansion is minimal, preventing gaps at joints during seasonal temperature changes. The molding retains its ideal shape regardless of operating conditions.
The ecological safety of modern polystyrene is confirmed by international certificates. The material does not emit harmful volatile compounds at normal temperatures, has no odor, and is completely safe for human health.HI WOOD Polystyrene MoldingIt is permitted for use in residential spaces of all categories, including children's rooms, bedrooms, and kitchens. The material is hypoallergenic and does not cause irritation even for people with heightened sensitivity.
Profile geometry and design solutions
Profile dimensions 22 × 10 mm represent an optimal combination for creating elegant decorative compositions. The 22 mm height creates sufficient relief for light and shadow play, giving the molding volume and expressiveness. At the same time, the profile does not appear bulky, preserving the lightness and elegance of lines. This height is ideal for rooms with standard ceiling heights, where larger profiles might visually overload the space.
The 10 mm thickness provides sufficient mounting surface area for secure attachment of the molding to walls or ceilings. At the same time, the profile remains lightweight — one linear meter weighs only about 100 grams, which is several times less than similar products made of MDF or wood. The low weight significantly simplifies installation and allows mounting the molding even on gypsum board structures without risking deformation of the base.
The profile shape is executed in a classic style with smooth lines and elegant relief. The front surface has a characteristic curve, creating a soft play of light and shadow. The clarity of the relief is achieved through a high-precision manufacturing process — extrusion under computer control. Each plankmolding D22has identical geometry with deviations not exceeding 0.1 mm, ensuring flawless element alignment during installation.
The plank length of 2000 mm is chosen considering the optimal balance between practical use and transportation convenience. Two molding planks cover a wall 4 meters long, corresponding to typical room sizes in modern apartments. If needed, the molding can be easily cut with a fine-toothed saw or a construction knife, allowing adaptation to any size and space configuration.
Installation technology of polystyrene moldings
Installation of molding D22 from polystyrene is simple and does not require special professional skills. The material's lightness allows for self-installation without helpers. Surface preparation includes cleaning from dust, dirt, and oily contaminants. The surface must be dry and degreased. Large irregularities are recommended to be leveled with putty, but polystyrene molding, due to some elasticity, can compensate for minor base defects.
For mountingpolystyrene moldingSpecial mounting adhesives based on acrylic or polymer are used. It is absolutely not recommended to use adhesives based on organic solvents — they may damage the polystyrene structure. Optimal are acrylic adhesives such as liquid nails, MS-polymer-based sealants, or specialized polystyrene compositions. The adhesive is applied in dots or dashed lines to the back of the molding with an interval of 10–15 cm.
After applying the adhesive, the molding is pressed against the surface and firmly held for several seconds. Due to the low weight of the product, the adhesive sets quickly, and additional fixation is usually not required. Excess adhesive protruding at the edges is immediately wiped off with a damp sponge before it dries. Some professionals recommend using painter’s tape for temporary fixation until the adhesive fully sets, especially for ceiling installations.
Corner joints are made by beveling ends at a 45-degree angle. Polystyrene cuts exceptionally well with a standard construction knife with replaceable blades or a fine-toothed saw. For precise angles, a miter box is recommended. The joint is filled with acrylic sealant, which is sanded smooth with fine-grit sandpaper after drying. A correctly executed corner joint becomes practically invisible after painting.
Finishing painting options
The white surface of molding D22 is ideally prepared for painting. The material has a fine-pored structure that ensures good adhesion with water-based paints. For paintingmolding for paintingWater-based acrylic paints are recommended — they are safe, odorless, dry quickly, and create a durable elastic coating. Paints based on organic solvents are not recommended, as they may damage polystyrene.
Classic white coloring highlights the elegance of the profile and creates the effect of traditional plaster molding. To achieve a perfectly white surface, apply 1–2 layers of quality acrylic paint. The first layer can be applied with a microfiber roller for even coverage, and the second layer with a brush to detail raised areas. White molding is universal and suitable for any interior style, from classic to modern minimalism.
Colorful coloring allows creating bright accents and unconventional design solutions.decorative moldingIt can be painted in any color from the palette — from pastel soft tones to vibrant saturated shades. Popular contrast solutions include dark molding on light walls or light molding on a dark background. Colored molding can match the color of furniture, textiles, or decorative accessories, creating harmonious combinations in the interior.
Decorative painting techniques offer additional possibilities. Patination involves applying a base light layer followed by dark patina to recesses to create an aged effect. Gilding is performed with metallic pigment paints and adds luxury and elegance to the interior. The ombre technique with a smooth color transition creates a modern artistic effect. Polystyrene surface holds any acrylic paints and decorative compositions perfectly.
Areas of application in interior design
Wall compositions using molding are one of the most popular decoration methods.Molding HI WOOD D22It is ideal for creating framed panels of various sizes and configurations. Rectangular frames on walls visually structure the space, create rhythm, and add architectural expressiveness. The interior of the frames can be painted in a contrasting color, covered with patterned wallpaper, or left to match the wall color.
Molding around door and window openings gives them a finished, elegant look. Molding conceals technological gaps between the frame and the wall, creates a visual frame, and protects corners from mechanical damage. The lightness of polystyrene makes it ideal for arched openings, where molding can follow the arch’s curve due to the material’s slight flexibility when slightly heated.
Ceiling moldings made from D22 molding create a smooth transition between wall and ceiling. Installed along the room’s perimeter, molding visually lifts the ceiling and makes the room appear more proportionate. A LED strip can be hidden behind the molding to create a floating ceiling effect — one of the trends in modern design. The lightness of polystyrene allows installing moldings even on suspended ceilings without risking deformation.
Zoning space with horizontal moldings allows visually altering the proportions of the room.polystyrene moldingInstalled at one-third the height of the wall, it divides the wall into two zones with different finishes. This classic technique is suitable for hallways, corridors, and dining rooms. Several parallel moldings create a dynamic rhythmic structure.
Decorating furniture with molding transforms ordinary items into designer objects. Cabinet facades adorned with polystyrene molding appear like expensive classic furniture. The material’s lightness allows attaching molding directly to furniture facades without risk of detachment. Headboards, doors, panels — molding adds extra decorative appeal everywhere.
Advantages of HI WOOD moldings
South Korean manufacturing quality ensures high geometric precision and flawless execution of each item. HI WOOD specializes in decorative polystyrene elements and uses advanced extrusion technologies. Automated production with computer control guarantees identical molding strips. Strict multi-stage quality control ensures no defective items reach the consumer.
Accessible cost makespolystyrene moldingsan attractive choice for budget-limited projects. At a price several times lower than similar polyurethane or MDF items, polystyrene moldings offer comparable quality and appearance. This enables implementing large-scale decorative projects without significant financial investment. Savings are especially noticeable when finishing large areas.
The lightweight nature of the item simplifies transportation, storage, and installation. A package of 65 strips weighs about 13 kg, allowing easy transport in a car and carrying by one person. Installation requires no assistance — the craftsman can easily handle it alone. The lightweight nature reduces load on load-bearing structures, which is especially important for gypsum board partitions and suspended ceilings.
Polystyrene’s moisture resistance expands its application. Molding D22 can be installed in bathrooms, toilets, kitchens, and other humid areas without risk of deformation or damage. The material does not absorb water, does not swell, and does not rot. This makes polystyrene moldings a universal solution for any room in a house or apartment.
Care and Maintenance
Polystyrene molding requires almost no special maintenance. To maintain cleanliness, periodically remove dust with a dry soft cloth or vacuum cleaner with a soft attachment. For more thorough cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth with neutral detergent. Polystyrene is resistant to most household water-based cleaning agents.
It is important to avoid using aggressive chemical solvents containing acetone, white spirit, or other organic compounds. They may damage the polystyrene structure and cause deformation or dissolution of the material. Also, abrasive cleaning agents and stiff brushes are not recommended, as they may scratch the painted surface. For removing stubborn stains, it is better to use specialized plastic cleaners.
The lifespan of correctly installed molding is 15–20 years or more. Polystyrene is not susceptible to aging, does not fade in sunlight due to stabilizers in its composition, and retains its original appearance for decades. An item painted with quality acrylic paints is additionally protected from UV exposure and mechanical damage. If needed, molding can be repainted in another color, refreshing the interior without dismantling decorative elements.
