More than 20 years on the market
The company's success began in 2002, when two artists — Andrey Ragozin and Evgeny Tsapko — created a small creative workshop for producing wooden carved items. The masters' work was quickly noticed, and within a year they were invited to participate in the reconstruction of the Konstantinovskiy Palace in Strelna.
After the success of this project, the company focused on recreating palace interiors, furniture, church furnishings, and carved decorations in various artistic styles. They worked with cultural heritage sites: The Hermitage, the Alexandrovsky Palace, the Troitsko-Izmaylovsky Cathedral, the Sheremetyevsky Mansion, and many others.
The masters' task — and still is — to create wooden items with the highest level of detail and understanding of every element, based on impeccable knowledge of artistic laws and interior styles.

Wooden cornice KZ-017: Architectural perfection with increased cross-section
Wooden cornice KZ-017 is an elite solution for creating prestigious interiors where maximum architectural expressiveness is required. The item with an increased square cross-section of 109×109 mm is made of high-quality MDF "Prestige" class and supplied prepped for enamel, which opens up unlimited possibilities for color decoration. Professionalcornices and moldingsfrom STAVROS allows creating European-level interiors while meeting the strictest requirements for quality and aesthetics.
Technical specifications and geometric parameters
Cornice KZ-017 features impressive square cross-section dimensions of 109×109 mm, making it an ideal solution for rooms with high ceilings of 3.2 meters and above. The standard length of the item is 2600 mm, with an additional version of 2400 mm available for optimized cutting depending on room configuration.
The increased cross-section provides a strong visual accent, creating a clear boundary between the wall and ceiling surface. The cross-sectional area is 118.81 cm², ensuring exceptional structural rigidity and geometric stability during long-term use.
Manufacturing accuracy is maintained within tolerances of ±0.3 mm for all linear dimensions, ensuring perfect element alignment when creating complex architectural compositions. The MDF material moisture content is 6-8%, meeting European quality standards for premium finishing materials.
Material characteristics of MDF "Prestige" class
High-density European MDF
The MDF sheet used to manufacture cornice KZ-017 belongs to the "Prestige" class with density 800-850 kg/m³. Increased density provides superior mechanical properties comparable to solid hardwoods, at significantly lower cost and absolute dimensional stability.
Production is carried out using dry pressing technology of wood fibers with urea-formaldehyde resins of E0.5 emission class. Free formaldehyde content does not exceed 0.050 mg/m³, which is twice lower than the European E1 standard requirements and guarantees full ecological safety for residential spaces.
Structural advantages of the material
The homogeneous fine-grained structure of MDF ensures ideal surface finish quality without chips, tears, or other defects typical of natural wood. Absence of fiber orientation eliminates warping and cracking of products under varying humidity and temperature conditions during operation.
Bending strength is 35-40 MPa, exceeding similar indicators of most coniferous wood species. Elastic modulus 3800-4200 MPa guarantees minimal deflection over large spans, which is especially important forceiling cornicesincreased cross-section.
Enamel prep system
Multi-stage surface treatment technology
Enamel prep for cornice KZ-017 includes a multi-stage process ensuring ideal final coating quality. Initial sanding is performed with P120 grit abrasive belts to remove mechanical processing marks and create uniform surface roughness.
Intermediate sanding with P180-P220 abrasives eliminates microscopic defects and prepares the surface for priming. Final finishing with P240-280 abrasive pads creates an ideally smooth surface with optimal adhesion for primer compositions.
High-adhesion primer systems
A two-component primer system based on alkyd-acrylic resins with the addition of adhesion promoters. The first layer is an isolating primer that prevents the migration of extractives from MDF into the finish coating. The second layer is a leveling primer, creating an ideally smooth base for enamel paints.
The thickness of each layer is 40-60 microns; the total primer coating thickness reaches 100-120 microns. Inter-layer drying at 60°C for 2 hours ensures complete polymerization of binders and eliminates defects such as "craters" and "fish eyes".
Architectural application in various styles
Neoclassical interiors
In neoclassical interiors, the KZ-017 cornice serves as the main architectural accent, emphasizing the monumentality and respectability of the space. The increased cross-section of 109×109 mm perfectly corresponds to the principles of classical orders, where the height of the cornice is 1/6-1/8 of the total architectural composition height.
Painting in traditional colors — white, cream, bone — creates a classic ceiling zone finish. Using decorative techniques — patination, gilding, creating artificial wear — allows achieving the effect of antique moldings at significantly lower costs.
Modern classicism and art deco
The style of modern classicism implies using traditional architectural elements in a simplified form with an emphasis on line clarity and proportionality. The KZ-017 cornice, painted in contrasting colors — black, dark gray, deep blue — creates a striking ceiling zone frame.
The art deco style implies using metallic shades — bronze, copper, silver, gold. Special metallic enamels allow creating luxurious coatings with the effect of real metal while preserving the lightness and technological efficiency of the MDF structure.
Minimalism and High-Tech
In minimalist interiors, the KZ-017 cornice serves as a functional element, creating a clear geometric boundary between different planes. Painting it in wall colors creates an effect of "melting" the cornice into the space, while retaining its architectural function.
The high-tech style implies using unusual color solutions — bright accent colors, fluorescent coatings, imitation of high-tech materials.decorative elementsIn such interiors, they become active participants in the color composition.
Technological Features of Production
High-Precision CNC Machining
The KZ-017 cornice is manufactured on modern CNC equipment, ensuring reproducibility of geometric parameters with accuracy ±0.1 mm. Four-sided planing machines with milling heads allow creating profiles of any complexity with ideal surface quality.
The programmable material feed system ensures a constant processing speed of 6-10 m/min depending on the MDF panel hardness and profile complexity. The automatic measurement system controls the geometric parameters of the products in real time, preventing defective products from proceeding to the next operations.
Quality control and certification
The multi-stage quality control system includes MDF panel incoming inspection, intermediate checks at each processing stage, and final acceptance of finished products. Laboratory control of moisture, density, and strength characteristics of the material is performed on each raw material batch.
Finished products undergo visual inspection for surface defects, geometric dimension control using gauges and templates, and primer coating quality check. All products are accompanied by certificates of compliance with Russian and European quality standards.
Installation and mounting of the KZ-017 cornice
Preparation and marking
Cornice mounting requires careful preparation of the base and precise marking. The wall surface must be leveled with a deviation of no more than ±1 mm per linear meter. In case of significant unevenness, preliminary leveling with gypsum or cement compounds followed by priming is required.
Marking is performed using a laser or water level to ensure strict horizontal alignment of the installation line. When working with large rooms, it is recommended to use laser plane builders to create a single horizontal mark around the entire perimeter.
Mounting systems and fasteners
The KZ-017 cornice is mounted using concealed installation with special galvanized steel brackets of 3 mm thickness. The increased bracket thickness is due to the cornice’s large mass and the need to ensure secure mounting.
The bracket installation spacing is 500-600 mm depending on the wall material and expected loads. For concrete and brick walls, 10 mm diameter and 80 mm long anchor bolts are used. For gas concrete walls, special anchors with increased bearing area are used.
Jointing of elements and corner connections
Cornice joints along the length are made using high-strength polyurethane adhesive, ensuring a connection strength of no less than 8 MPa. Element ends are milled to create a tight joint without gaps. Additional reinforcement is performed using 10 mm diameter wooden dowels.
Corner joints require special care due to the cornice’s large cross-section. A 45° bevel is cut using a disc saw with a hard alloy disc of at least 300 mm diameter. After joining, corners are additionally reinforced with metal brackets hidden inside the profile.
Color scheme options
Classic color palette
Traditional painting of the KZ-017 cornice involves using achromatic colors — white, cream, light gray. A white cornice creates a clear boundary between the wall and ceiling, visually increasing the room’s height. Cream and beige shades impart warmth and coziness to the interior.
To achieve the effect of antique moldings, patination techniques using umber, ochre, sienna are applied. Patina is applied to protruding parts of the profile, emphasizing its architectural form and creating the effect of natural material aging.
Modern color solutions
Modern design implies using bright accent colors to create dynamic interiors. The KZ-017 cornice can be painted in any RAL palette color — from saturated reds to deep blues. Contrasting solutions — black cornice on light walls or white on dark walls — look especially striking.
Metallic finishes create the effect of expensive materials - bronze, copper, stainless steel. Using pearlescent and chameleon paints allows creating finishes that change color depending on viewing angle and lighting.
Comprehensive design solutions
Multi-level ceiling compositions
The KZ-017 cornice is ideally suited for creating complex multi-level ceiling systems in combination with othermoldings and cornicessmaller sections. A two-level system may include the main KZ-017 cornice at a distance of 300-400 mm from the ceiling and an additional molding directly under the ceiling.
Three-level compositions create even more expressive architectural plasticity using cornices of different sections and profiles. Such solutions are especially effective in rooms with high ceilings of 3.5 meters and above.
Integration of lighting system
The robust section of the KZ-017 cornice allows creating hidden lighting systems using high-power LED strips up to 20 W/m. Behind the cornice, a multi-channel RGB lighting system with adjustable color and brightness can be installed.
Special niches are made in the wall for mounting drivers and lighting controllers. The control system may include remote controls, dimmers, and controllers for creating lighting scenes of varying complexity.
Economic aspects of application
Cost and economic efficiency
The MDF version of the KZ-017 cornice provides optimal cost-to-quality ratio for creating prestigious interiors. The cost is significantly lower than similar solid wood products while maintaining all operational characteristics and decorative finishing options.
The universal preparation for enamel allows adapting the same basic profile to any design requirements by selecting the appropriate finishing system. This significantly simplifies warehouse logistics and reduces order fulfillment times.
Long-term usage perspective
High-quality MDF 'Prestige' class ensures a service life of the cornice of at least 25-30 years under proper operating conditions. The possibility of multiple repaints extends the product's lifespan to 40-50 years.
The dimensional stability of MDF eliminates gaps at joints and profile deformation, which is especially important for large-section elements. This guarantees preservation of the original appearance throughout the entire service life without the need for intermediate repairs.
Conclusion
The wooden KZ-017 cornice is a premium solution for creating high-class interiors where maximum architectural expressiveness and durability are required. The increased section of 109×109 mm, high-quality MDF 'Prestige' class, and professional enamel preparation provide limitless possibilities for implementing the most ambitious design projects.
The combination of modern manufacturing technologies, strict quality control, and affordable pricing makes the KZ-017 cornice an ideal choice for architects and designers creating European-level interiors. The versatility of application and wide range of color finishing options guarantee successful implementation of projects of any complexity and stylistic direction.
