Description

The wide, expressive profile of cornice KZ-013 in modern style is used for interior decoration and furniture styling.
The cornice model is assembled, consisting of a central concave and two side profiles, glued into a single structure with perfect geometry. The 90° internal angle formed by the side profile planes ensures professional and quick installation. The assembled hollow structure KZ-013 guarantees geometric stability of the shape and optimizes the weight of the product.
The cornice is produced from three materials to choose from:
• Deeply milled MDF — intended for painting with various colors of enamel;
• Oak or beech solid wood — more premium materials. In addition to enamel painting, staining with dyes, transparent lacquering, and patina application are possible to emphasize the wood texture.

More than 20 years on the market

The company's success began in 2002, when two artists — Andrey Ragozin and Evgeny Tsapko — created a small creative workshop for producing wooden carved items. The masters' work was quickly noticed, and within a year they were invited to participate in the reconstruction of the Konstantinovskiy Palace in Strelna.

After the success of this project, the company focused on recreating palace interiors, furniture, church furnishings, and carved decorations in various artistic styles. They worked with cultural heritage sites: The Hermitage, the Alexandrovsky Palace, the Troitsko-Izmaylovsky Cathedral, the Sheremetyevsky Mansion, and many others.

The masters' task — and still is — to create wooden items with the highest level of detail and understanding of every element, based on impeccable knowledge of artistic laws and interior styles.

Wooden cornice KZ-013: Premium solution for elegant interior

Cornice KZ-013 is distinguished by precisely defined geometric parameters, where the square cross-section 90×90 mm ensures optimal visual massiveness for creating expressive architectural accents. The standard length is 2600 mm for the MDF version and 2400 mm for the beech version, allowing efficient use in rooms of various sizes and configurations.

Technical Specifications and Dimensional Parameters

The KZ-013 cornice features precisely calibrated geometric parameters, where the square cross-section of 90×90 mm provides optimal visual massiveness for creating expressive architectural accents. The standard length is 2600 mm for the MDF version and 2400 mm for the beech version, allowing efficient use ofcornices and moldingsin rooms of various sizes and configurations.

Processing accuracy is maintained within tolerances of ±0.3 mm, ensuring perfect element alignment during installation of complex architectural compositions. Wood moisture is strictly controlled at 8-10% to ensure geometric stability of the product throughout its service life.

Material-specific production features

European premium-grade oak solid wood

The oak version of cornice KZ-013 is made exclusively from European oak (Quercus robur) of the highest grade with density 680-750 kg/m³. High tannin content up to 12% provides natural biological protection, while the characteristic texture with pronounced annual rings creates a unique visual effect. Compressive strength limit is 62 MPa, ensuring exceptional durability of the structure.

Eastern selective beech solid wood

The beech version of the cornice is characterized by a uniform fine-pored structure and a delicate pink-cream tone. Beech solid wood density 640-690 kg/m³ combines sufficient strength with excellent processability. Exceptional plasticity of beech after steaming at 105°C allows creating elements with complex curved transitions.

European standard high-density MDF

The MDF version is produced from high-density European material with density 780-820 kg/m³. Use of urea-formaldehyde resins of E0.5 emission class guarantees ecological safety with free formaldehyde content less than 0.065 mg/m³. Absolute dimensional stability and uniform structure make MDF an ideal material for creating complexdecorative elementsinteriors.

Finishing systems and decorative options

Cornice KZ-013 is offered in two basic finishing options, each of which opens wide possibilities for customization. The 'under enamel' option implies special surface preparation with alkyd-based primers, ensuring ideal adhesion of enamel paints of any color from RAL and NCS palettes.

Surface preparation includes multi-stage sanding with abrasive materials from P120 to P280 grit, with intermediate dust removal using industrial vacuum cleaners. Priming is performed with insulating compounds in two layers, with interlayer drying for 12-16 hours at 20±2°C and relative humidity 65±5%.

The 'staining' finish preserves and emphasizes the natural wood texture, imparting the desired color tone. Water-based stains with pigment content 3-8% penetrate the wood structure to a depth of 0.5-1.2 mm, creating rich tones from light walnut to dark wenge. Final coating with polyurethane lacquers with hardness of 180-220 Knoop ensures reliable protection against mechanical impacts and moisture.

Application in architectural styles

Classic and neoclassical interior

In classic interiors, cornice KZ-013 serves as a finishing architectural element, emphasizing the respectability and traditionalism of the space. The square cross-section 90×90 mm corresponds to canonical proportions of the classical order, where the height of the cornice is 1/8-1/10 of the total height of the architectural composition.

Combination with othermouldingsallows creating complex multi-level structures using the principles of the golden ratio. The oak version is especially effective when combined with natural materials — marble, granite, high-quality solid wood parquet.

In minimalist interiors, the KZ-013 cornice serves as a strict geometric accent, emphasizing the clarity of lines and functionality of the space. The MDF version with enamel allows creating perfectly flat surfaces without visible texture, which is especially valued in the "less is more" concept.

The ability to paint in any color opens up possibilities for creating contrasting or monochromatic solutions. A black cornice on white walls creates a clear graphic boundary, while a white cornice on colored surfaces gently frames the space without disrupting the overall harmony.

Scandinavian style and eco-oriented directions

The beech finish of the cornice perfectly fits the concept of Scandinavian design, which favors light wood species and natural materials. The delicate pinkish tone of beech harmonizes with birch, ash, and other light species, creating a sense of unity with nature.

Toning in white and gray tones allows adapting the beech cornice to any color scheme while preserving the natural wood texture. The eco-friendliness of the material is confirmed by FSC certificates, which is important for creating a healthy microclimate in living spaces.

Manufacturing process and quality control

Technological Features of Production

The KZ-013 cornice is manufactured on high-precision European equipment with CNC, ensuring reproducibility of geometric parameters with accuracy ±0.2 mm. Multi-stage quality control includes incoming inspection of raw materials, intermediate checks at each processing stage, and final acceptance of finished products.

Wood drying is performed in special chambers with programmable temperature and humidity settings. The process lasts 14-21 days depending on the wood species and initial moisture content. Humidity control is performed using electronic hygrometers with accuracy ±0.5%.

Machine processing and profiling

The cornice profile is created on four-sided planer machines equipped with milling heads fitted with carbide cutters. The material feed rate is 8-12 m/min, ensuring high surface quality without processing marks.

Sanding is performed on wide-belt sanders with dust extraction systems. Abrasive belts with sequential reduction of grit size from P120 to P240 are used. Final finishing is done manually with P320 abrasive pads to achieve an ideal smooth surface.

Installation and mounting of the KZ-013 cornice

Cornice mounting requires careful surface preparation and precise marking. The wall must be level with deviation not exceeding ±2 mm per linear meter. Local leveling is performed using gypsum compounds followed by sanding if necessary.

Preparation Work

Marking is performed using a laser level to ensure perfect horizontal alignment. The distance from the ceiling is determined by the design project, but should not be less than 50 mm to ensure visual proportionality. When working with

it is important to maintain a single height mark around the entire perimeter of the room.decorative moldingsMounting methods and fasteners

The KZ-013 cornice is mounted using concealed mounting with special galvanized steel brackets of 2 mm thickness. Brackets are installed at intervals of 600-800 mm depending on load and wall material.

For mounting on concrete and brick walls, 8 mm diameter and 60 mm long anchors are used. For mounting on gypsum board partitions, special "butterfly" anchors or anchor screws with expanding anchors are used.

Cornice joints are made using PVA-M wood glue with dry residue content not less than 50%. End pieces are processed with a router to create tight joints without gaps. After the glue dries, joints are additionally reinforced with 8 mm diameter wooden dowels.

Jointing elements and final finishing

Corner joints are made at a 45° angle using a router with carbide teeth. Cutting accuracy is controlled by a protractor with error not exceeding 0.5°. After installation, all joints are filled with acrylic compounds matching the base material color.

Design solutions

Single-level compositions

The simplest application of the KZ-013 cornice is creating a single-level frame around the room perimeter. This solution is suitable for rooms with heights of 2.7–3.2 m, where the cornice serves as a finishing element visually "closing" the wall.

The distance from the ceiling is usually 100–150 mm, creating optimal proportions for most interiors. In rooms with high ceilings, this distance can be increased to 200–250 mm to maintain compositional harmony.

Multi-level architectural systems

To create more complex architectural compositions, the KZ-013 cornice can be combined with other

decorative trim elements. A classic option includes using the cornice in combination with a frieze board and smaller section moldings.A two-level system involves installing the main cornice 200–300 mm from the ceiling and an additional molding directly under the ceiling. This solution visually increases room height and provides additional opportunities for concealed lighting.

Integration with concealed lighting

The cornice KZ-013 is ideally suited for creating a concealed lighting system. LED strips with a power of 14.4-28.8 W/m and a color temperature of 2700-4000K can be installed behind the cornice. This solution creates soft, diffused lighting that highlights ceiling texture and creates a cozy atmosphere.

Special niches are made in the wall for mounting transformers and dimmers. Wiring is laid in corrugated pipes with a 16 mm diameter, leading to switches with smooth brightness adjustment.

Compatibility with other interior elements

Complex solutions with baseboards

Harmonious combination of ceiling cornice with baseboards creates a complete architectural composition. The ideal complement to the cornice KZ-013 isBaseboardsa matching profile made of the same material and with similar finish.

Baseboard height is usually 80-120 mm, creating proportional harmony with the cornice. Using the same material and finish ensures visual unity of the interior and emphasizes the thoughtfulness of the design solution.

Coordination with door and window casings

To create stylistic unity in the interior, the cornice KZ-013 can be combined with door and window casings made of similar material. Casing width is usually 80-100 mm, ensuring harmonious proportions with the 90×90 mm cornice section.

Such a combination is especially effective in classical interiors, where uniformity of architectural elements emphasizes the status and respectability of the space. Oak cornices and casings create a sense of solidity and durability.

Furniture cornices and decorative elements

The cornice KZ-013 can be used not only as an architectural element but also in furniture structures. Especially popular is the usecabinet moldingsfor decorating cabinets, shelves, and built-in furniture.

Furniture application requires additional end treatment with sealants to prevent moisture ingress. Mounting to furniture is done using dowels or eccentric brackets with pre-drilled holes.

Care and Usage Characteristics

Regular Maintenance

The cornice KZ-013 requires no complex maintenance, but regular preventive measures extend its service life and preserve its original appearance. Dust removal is performed using a dry soft cloth or vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment.

The frequency of wet cleaning depends on usage conditions, but should not exceed once a month. Neutral cleaning agents with pH 6-8, diluted in warm water, are used. After wet cleaning, the surface is wiped dry with a cloth to remove moisture residue.

Restoration and updating of coatings

To refresh the appearance, the cornice can be restored without dismantling. Lacquered surfaces are renewed after light sanding with abrasive pads P320-400 and applying a new layer of lacquer.

Painted surfaces requiring enamel need more thorough preparation, including removal of old coating and repriming. Modern alkyd-urethane enamels allow achieving a finish equal in quality to the original.

Repair of mechanical damage

Minor mechanical damage is repaired using special repair compounds. For filling chips and scratches, wood putty based on wood flour and binding polymers is used.

After the putty dries, the surface is sanded with fine-grit abrasives and tinted to match the base material. Special texturing gels, mimicking wood grain structure, are used if restoring texture is necessary.

Economic aspects of application

Price-to-quality ratio

The cornice KZ-013 offers optimal price-to-quality ratio in the premium finishing materials segment. The oak version costs 4690 rubles per linear meter, corresponding to average market prices for quality solid hardwood products.

The MDF version provides a more affordable alternative while maintaining high performance characteristics. The ability to paint in any color compensates for the absence of natural wood texture and allows implementing the most daring design solutions.

Long-term economic efficiency

Investments in quality finishing materials pay off due to long service life and minimal maintenance costs. The cornice KZ-013 retains its original appearance for 15-20 years with proper use.

The possibility of restoration and coating renewal extends the product’s lifespan up to 30-40 years, making it an economically advantageous solution for long-term prospects. Qualitycornices and moldingsincreases the property’s market value by 3-5%.
